I’ve always had good experiences with the servers, hosts and managers. Had a recent problem promptly resolved by Graham. Nice spacious, upscale premises, so easy to entertain. Food well priced, but liquor on the higher side. Just wishing they add a charbroiled veggie burger a la Milestones or even a salmon/ahi tuna burger a la Joey’s. The Quinoa Salad with avocados presented a healthy and reasonably tasting fare. The fresh bread at the start, accompanied by garlic butter is something I do look forward to each time I’m there. Nice touch.

Really wanted to like this place. The restaurant itself is beautiful and in a great location. However we received very slow/rude service. Food was alright but nothing great. Probably won’t be back the next time we visit Vancouver.

Had dinner with my bestie tonight and everything was amazing! Food, service, ambiance all get an A+ from us. My friend had the Filet Mignon and I had the pistachio crusted salmon, both of which is highly recommended. For our first ever meal in Canada, I think we chose a great spot!

What can you say about The Keg. The food quality & taste is always there. The sit rep for this location goes like this. Two separate sides… one for a formal restaurant & one for more like a sports lounge. We chose the sports lounge side. I ordered the 10oz Filet(which I love) with the twice baked potato. The issue was the steak was WAY under cooked. The restaurant Manager did the right thing & comped the meal which I did NOT ask for but was very much appreciated. She was very nice, professional & did a great job of handling the steak issue. I can say that the wait staff were very nice, polite & efficient. With the fix of the steak I have compliments for the staff, the Manager & the food. Well done Keg!

I called ahead and found out for a party of 7 may have a 45 minute wait. So I went there ahead of time and spoke with the hostesses. They were very helpful and professional. I waited at the bar for the rest of my party to arrive. Robin, the bartender gave me an exceptional whiskey recommendation. We were seated, and Amy was equally as good at taking our order and getting the food out quickly and correctly.

I only give 5 stars if I get a perfect experience, and I can say that yesterday’s experience was fantastic! It was my birthday yesterday and I rarely go to the Keg so I thought why not? 5 people and I sat in a nice comfy booth for dinner, greeted immediately by a very nice server(shoutout to Craig from the Keg). I am from an asian decent, and my grandparents didn’t speak well English, and he was very kind and patient with us deciding on what we were going to eat. I never eat sourdough bread but the complimentary bread is so gooood. For starters, I had the French Onion Soup(which is like life) and came fresh and hot to the table. Covered in cheese and inside was pieces of tender meat and bread squares, a very hearty soup. Calamari was excellent, although portion could be larger, tasted great. I forgot what this dish is called but it was avocado and tuna stacked with tortilla chips, very fresh. For mains, my uncle and I had the NY steak with a twice baked potato. The steak was cooked beautifully medium and the potato was crispy at the top, and soft in the middle. The soup filled me up already, so I brought half of the steak back home to eat. My grandparents shared the special the server suggested. A prime rib with 3 jumbo tempura shrimp. They cooked it medium well(don’t judge, my grandpa doesn’t like any blood on the steak). They quite enjoyed the meal. My aunt got a dinner salad with what i think was a top sirloin. Looked amazing and she finished it all. – During the end, to my surprise, the server surprised us with a free Billy Miner Pie for my birthday. He started to sing happy birthday and a candle was lit at the top. It was very generous of him and I never felt so comfortable with the wait staff. Plus the cake tasted delicious and everyone likes ice cream cake. In the end my experience at the Keg was fantastic, and although it’s a little too pricey for me, I still will come back :)

The Keg is fancy shmancy… Everything about that place screams fancy. You’ll want to come dressed a little formal. Nothing crazy just a little dressier. Now onto the food. The complementary bread was alright, but the entrees were absolutely delicious. We ordered the Pistachio Crusted Salmon, Thai Chicken, and Spinach Salad. We don’t normally order salad but we decided to this time and I’m glad we did. The candied pecans on top really made it. The Thai Chicken tasted better than I thought it would, and the mash potatoes that come on the side were so creamy. The salmon was good as well. Portions are a good size– not too small or too big. I guess the only negative thing I have to say about this place is their prices. As expected from a steakhouse, their prices were high, but wowza I guess I’m just not accustomed to eating at such a nice place. Prices for main dishes stayed between $ 20 – 40.

For what it’s worth, it’s definitely rare for me to come on Unilocal to write a review unless I can add some value, but I had such a great experience here late last night that I had to write a review today. Came in at 10PM to the bar side and had amazing food and service from the whole team. Just to give a shut out to Adam for amazing customer service; going above and beyond and really knowing his items on the menu. I was surprised that this place made me feel like home. Had a rare peppercorn steak and scallops with a glass of red. Made to perfection. Definitely recommend anyone to eat here for good food and exceptional service!

This Keg is nicer than other Kegs;Nice ambience inside and outside. Service of our waitress was superb; prompt and courteous. Steak was good enough and price is reasonable. Mini mango crème brûlée is only 3 bucks. It was great for group and I would like to try their happy hour next time at lounge. So, another review is coming up.

Nice surroundings. Bread is free, lobster and shrimp salad is perfect with avocado and nuts. Wo ordered medium well but it tastes not so raw. Brownie is only $ 3 with ice cream. So amazing because brownie is hot. Overall, a good experience.

I was very impressed with the design of this Keg. I realize it was Ki before but the ambiance was very impressive and warm. We ate in the dining room(didn’t check out the lounge) and was blown away by the finishings of this location. Our server was pleasant and attentive. I typically order a steak, but I tried the chicken and ribs this time around. They were both delicious; however, I think Earls has a leg up on this dish. Keg fries are awesome. If you’re looking for a scene and a nice patio, hit the yaletown location instead. I’m always blown away by the fact that they have such an extensive wine list, but their draft beers are: Rickards, Heineken, Canadian(and Coors Light perhaps). I think they should consider expanding their offering to a few local brewers. Overall a great experience.

We’ve been to the local Kegs wherever we’ve lived, and have always been pleased with the quality of food and service. Tonite, being especially a big night for us, we decided to continue our custom and went to the Keg on Alberni. Ben was our server; he was excellent, attentive without being intrusive. Our mixed drinks were brought promptly and were excellent. The appetizers we ordered, escargot and stuffed mushrooms, were delicious. My New York steak was perfectly cooked and my wife’s mushroom stuffed chicken was excellent. The Keg was kind enough to provide complementary desserts to help us celebrate our evening.

Avoid this location. Go at the one located at Yaletown instead. On Nelson st and Mainland. Nice patio on da 2nd floor. Pop-out on a sunny Sat afternoon. The place was empty… Got a table next to the bathroom… How lovely… Willing to wait for the waitress… Still… Never show up… We left after 25 minutes… KEGALBERNIBYE.

The Keg never disappoints! The service, ambiance, food and drinks are always excellent! This was my first time at the Alberni location and I look forward to returning! We were seated on the patio on a lovely Sunday afternoon! The bamboos that surround the patio are soo green, I couldn’t stop staring at them! The server was a sweetheart, she always had a genuine smile every time she came by! We waited a little bit longer than I would have liked to receive our food but the bread and bamboos kept us distracted! Once the food arrived, we forgot how long we were waiting as the food was delicious– I ordered the top sirloin with mashed potatoes.(I am still sad that they no longer have the goat cheese and pecan sirloin on their menu– this was my favorite) I also had a couple long island ice teas and they were perfect! The dessert menu was tempting but we were stuffed. The inside of the restaurant was a little too dark in my opinion so I’m glad there was space on the patio. The ladies washroom is upstairs and the mens downstairs– I wish it were the reverse– we have to walk up there in heels. Anywhoooo the washroom was super clean and super modern so it didn’t matter… See you soon Keg :)

Pretty disappointing dinner. My steak was brought out way over cooked and paired with what looked and tasted like a microwaveable bag of vegetables. My boyfriends prim rib was lovely however the side of mushrooms were also over cooked I’ve probably been to the keg 100+ times in my life and rarely have I had an experience this awful. Note to self: never again

I’m a huge fan of The Keg. Honestly, it’s one of my ‘go-to’ places when we don’t feel like cooking and are crazing steak. It’s our usual ‘date night’ spot. So believe me when I say that I wouldn’t recommend this Keg location, and that I have a pretty good idea of what a standard Keg dining experience is like. I won’t be returning to the Alberni Keg. My fiancé wanted a steak dinner for his birthday(as is tradition) and he wanted The Keg. I thought we’d try the one on Alberni because of the patio, so I booked a reservation on OpenTable and put in the comments that it was for my fiancé’s birthday, and requested we be seated on the patio. When we arrived, the hostess asked me if I wanted to dine inside or outside. I was a little surprised but thought perhaps she hadn’t seen my request, so I again indicated the patio and we were led out. The patio wasn’t empty, but it also wasn’t full. There were several empty tables for 2 along the perimeter by the glass balcony. But we were seated right smack at the entrance between the two doors(so a very heavy traffic area) at a table for four. Strike one. What’s the point of making a reservation if you’re going to treat us like we just wandered in? I took the time to make a reservation so that we would have a nice, intimate dining experience — but instead of honouring that, we were given exactly the opposite. I was so annoyed since there were empty tables for two along the perimeter of the patio, which is far more appealing not only because it has a better vantage point but also because there aren’t people walking all around you. I came to this Keg location specifically for the patio. I might as well have dined inside. We were handed our menus and left to make our selections. The menu on the patio is much smaller than the menu for inside. I know the keg menu very well — I always get a Keg Classic meal since it comes with a starter salad — but their special patio menu didn’t have that. I eventually asked the server and she told me that all the regular menu items were available to me, but that this is their ‘hybrid patio menu’. Strike Two. She should have told me that when we were given our menus, I shouldn’t have had to ask why things weren’t on the menu. Frankly, I have no idea why they even have that tiny menu in the first place if everything that’s available inside the dining room is also available on the patio. It seems like some strange attempt at marketing that resulted in wasted paper and menu backings and leads to nothing but disappointment at the lack of options from their guests. After that, service was slow. Really slow. It took her a long time to come back and take our order, and a much longer time for our meals to arrive. Strike Three. Again — I dine at The Keg regularly — I know how long it should take, so I know this was too long to wait for our mains. I also know that our server was slow to come check with us at all the touch points(Water, Bread, Orders, Delivery of Meal, Check-in at beginning of Meal, Retrieval of Dishes and Dessert, Bill). At the end of our meal and dessert, the server came by and gave us our bill. My fiancée reached for it, but obviously it was my treat since it was his birthday. She overheard this, so later she came back with a new bill and said that she had covered the dessert since she heard it was his birthday. Now, given that they didn’t seem to know I had requested a patio seating, I’m not surprised that they also didn’t know it was his birthday, so this isn’t the server’s fault. If I was operating under the assumption that she didn’t know, then the step she took was a good one to leave guests with the delightful surprise of treating us to dessert. But I was very clear in my Open Table reservation, which means somewhere in their infrastructure a clear message was lost. That’s not on the server, that’s on whoever at The Keg’s Alberni location is responsible for handling the reservations that come through Open Table –and I sincerely hope that they add a bit of due diligence in their processes to ensure that their guests requests are met with the same attention through all their reservation channels, since I’m almost positive that if I had phoned the reservation in they would have made a note of it.

I just came back from an extra long lunch for a co-worker’s birthday. I phoned in yesterday and made reservations and the person asked me if we were celebrating anything so I told her we were celebrating a birthday and she said, and I quote, «Great. We’ll make sure to do something for them.» Our party of five was seated in nearly the back of the restaurant, when there were other, closer tables to the front, but there were four other parties seated as well so I didn’t think much of it. Then three of those other tables left and it was just our party of 5 and a party of 3. Our server was nice enough but did not go even close to above or beyond. It’s arguable that he hovered just below the service level normally expected of a Keg restaurant. Two people split a lobster roll and he didn’t mention that it might not be big enough of a portion to actually do that but we ordered an appetizer so maybe he thought it would be enough. He didn’t bring the bread because one person said they didn’t want it(maybe the other four people might have?). He delivered our drinks and never came back to ask how we were doing. Our food came and he never once came back to ask how anything was. The food was lacklustre — I was looking forward to the applewood smoked bacon on my clubhouse and ended up peeling off strips of fat instead. I ordered the clubhouse but asked it to be served on garlic bread instead of the ciabatta. It was served on ciabatta with garlic butter spread on it — not the same thing — and it was dry anyway. As mentioned, the lobster roll split in two wasn’t large but each plate literally had 8 french fries beside the roll. I’m not even being flippant. We counted. We had to flag down our server to order another bottle of wine and we had to flag him down again to order the dessert(he spent a lot of time setting up tables near us for diners that never arrived. We also had to flag another server down to pay because our server was nowhere to be found. By the time we left two hours later, we were the only table seated in the back and everyone else was near or on the patio. You’re probably wondering about the birthday treat they mentioned when I made the reservation — funny because so am I. I guess I’ll never know because nothing was done. I know this isn’t usually the way the Keg is because I’ve never had a bad meal at the Keg nor have I ever had bad service. We must’ve slipped into an alternate universe though because I think I’ve had better service at a fast food restaurant(and better bacon) than I did today.

Made reservations on open table, requested for patio seating. Got there and easily got a table on the patio. From start to end, greeting and service was wonderful. And thank you for the cake for my friends birthday! Very generous beyond our expectations with the extra crostini for the baked Brie we requested too. There was a loose tile though on the patio and when people stepped on it, it would rock my chair… other than that, no complaints! Pleasant all around and cannot wait to return.

Went for dinner there on a Thursday for a late night meal. The three of us ordered 3 appies and 3 steak dinners with a side of mushrooms and 1 lobster tail; all medium rare with 2 of them being«Chicago”(charred) as well. The 2 «Chicago» medium rare steaks were clearly cooked to a medium well. Our server, Evelyn, came by for a quality check and we politely told her the cook was wrong on 2 of the steaks. She remained very professional and brought the manager, Adam, back promptly. We showed him the steaks and he admitted that the steaks were overdone and apologized profusely. Being that, Adam went above and beyond with his service; he brought us 3 new meals so we could ALL eat together and even a new side of mushrooms and lobster tail despite being half eaten! He checked up on us many times and even brought us the bill. With his words«I just want you guys to be happy», he made us feel very special! His service was so memorable! I never write reviews but I wanted everyone to know how great this particular Keg was to us! Bravo Adam!

This new renovated Keg in the heart of downtown is wonderful !!! Came here for dinner and was not disappointed at all. The décor inside is beautiful. Modern with dim lights. Elegant but without the snobby feel to it. Best part? The booths are now more spacious with comfy seats !! They have the same great menu with a few additions. Yippeee !!! That extra soft bread they give in the beginning is still there. The price is a tad higher by a few dollars, but they did add a few extras. For example, the steak salad is two dollars more expensive, but they did add bocconcini which wasn’t there before. Same friendly staff and fast service. Note: Since this place is new, it does get pretty busy, but they do reserve a few tables for walk ins.
