Top Notch Steakhouse! Try the brussel sprouts as a side. Best I’ve ever had. Great bartender

To be honest, I’m not sure how to start this review. I had high expectations given the obvious. I came here for dineout on a Monday night. We ordered the dine out menu plus the Bone Marrow appetizer and Broccoli cheese side dish. The dine out meal was okay, the bone marrow didn’t seem authentic but the Lamb was very tender and delicious. However right after I finished my entrée I had the worst pain in my stomach. My last few bites were the Broccoli cheese dish, which was insanely heavy on the cream. My stomach was in so much pain we had to take our dessert to go. This has never happened to me before. We rushed home because I was in so much pain. When I arrived I ran to the bathroom and involuntarily vomited up my entire meal. It really bothered me that I had this reaction to eating at a restaurant such as this. The only other meal I had was lunch — Indian food from the foodcourt. I had left overs and my boyfriend decided to eat it the next day to see if it was the lunch. He didn’t get sick and he was completely fine. I have a huge suspicion it was the Broccoli dish and perhaps the cream was spoiled and my stomach was sensitive to this. Anyway I am really disappointed that I had this reaction to something in the food and basically the money I spent went immediately down the toilet, literally. Aside from this, our service was majorly lacking attention and was very dismissive. It felt as though we were being treated as «dine out» people and not given the same equal service we deserved. This experience makes me reluctant to try it again.

I went there and the food was great! But for some people might be a little pricey, you can have their amazing platters.

Enjoyed my steak dinner this evening with a beautifully paired red wine recommend by the knowledgable waitress. My friends tenderloin was cooked to perfection. Highly recommended to any local or visitor to Vancouver!

I had high expectations going here for a friend’s birthday from the appearance of the whole restaurant and the higher price point of dishes, but the food was just decent to me. A table of 7 people and one waiter. The waiter was very descriptive in their answers for the questions we had about our dishes, which in turn helped us order much faster. Then the waiting part for our dishes was roughly 40 minutes. I had a $ 36 steak that tasted great but not much different than a steak I would have gotten for $ 15. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the service, but the food was just decent.

My friend N and I visited Black + Blue to try their $ 75 Sunday Dinner. As soon as I entered, I fell in love with their modern, elegant interior. The restaurant was filled with intricate design and decorative details throughout the space. For a starter the table side Caesar Salad was served. It was freshly made right beside our table. In terms of taste, it was nothing special but simply a caesar salad. For the first entrée we got 10oz Prime Rib with mashed potatoes, seasonal vegetables and yorkshire pudding on the side. I am not a huge fan of steak usually, but the prime rib was really tender and glad that the steak was perfect medium rare. For our second entrée we got ½ Pound of Snow Crab. We could tell that the crab was sitting on the plate for a while as it was very cold. There was not so much meat inside, and it didn’t taste good at all. N and I were both disappointed. For our dessert, the Butter Cake with Chantilly Cream & Caramel Sauce was served. The bottom was burnt too much, so the entire cake tasted very bitter. Considering this dinner was already 50% discounted, we were reluctant to ask for another dessert. Overall, it didn’t meet our high expectation. Not sure if the food was not any good except for the steak because they were preparing this set of dinner for many tables. Hope they provided the same quality of food to the customers who visited with this coupon. I think I still might visit one more time to see if their regular items are any better. Regardless of mediocre food quality, I loved the ambience and interior! Service, food was okay, much like I expect from these sorts of chain restaurants such as the Keg and Catcus Club etcetera. This one is a bit pricier, not sure why. One bright spot was the Ceasar Salad. Chateaubriand definitely required a steak knife to cut through the sinewy parts. Overall the restaurant was almost indistinguishable from the Keg in Yaletown, except I find the steaks I’ve eaten there much better, however, the Ceaser Salad at the Keg is terrible. Overall I can’t really recommend this restaurant when we have so many fine independent restaurants with chefs really putting out some amazing fare. Leave this restaurant to the tourists.

Before you drool over the steaks, remember that this is still a Glowbal group restaurant. So that being said this comes as a 4 star rating as the steaks themselves are good but if you really want steak go to Gotham or Hy’s. The side doshes however are pretty good. Service is alright, but cleanliness isnt the best here. Ive had dirty cutlery every time ive visited, which is just annoying. I recommend the mac and cheese sticks with the dipping sauces mmmmmm! The sides are definitely better here than at a lot of other restaurants.

This is my favorite of the Glowbal Restaurants, I go here on a regular basis and for special occasions. I hosted a party in the private room too and I was not disappointed. Oh did I mentioned I’m a vegetarian and my favorite restaurant is a «steak house». I always have a different main because they«custom» my main every time. They make me a pasta of some kind which is always delicious and filled with vegetables. I always have a table side Caesar salad which I love. I always have the black & blue butter cake. I bring friends from out of town here and have dinner with friends. Our group of girls favorite thing is cake and champagne as a later night treat. I think the staff are great and the food is great. I like the atmosphere and location. I will be back soon! Maybe tomorrow…

Came to Black & Blue for happy hour for date night. We ordered the oysters rockefeller, calamari, yorkshire pudding, mac n cheese sticks, hot rocks, and nachos: D drooooool. So much yummy food, haha. Of course, I capped the food part of the date with some coffee and my lovely fiancée with some prosecco(it’s our thang at B+B). Food(prep, presentation, taste, portion size) was excellent. Service was excellent. Location is excellent(smack downtown!). Ambiance is great and B+B exudes high end steakhouse, but we found it rather difficult to talk on the mid-stair area. Best part? The bill was completely reasonable since it was happy hour and was happy to be able to tip generously for the fantastic service: D

We went here as there was a $ 75 dinner for two coupon. It’s a place for a fine dining and steaks and huge wine selection. There is valet service for $ 12, which is worth it as street parking is the same. The coupon got us a ceasar salad starter, prime rib with crab entrée, and a dessert(forgot name). Oh and also two glasses of champagne tasted pretty good but I’m really no expert on that. Go for: special occasion or trying to impress a date Don’t go for: value driven meals(unless it’s lunch time), spending less than $ 50 per person(without coupon), or rare foods you haven’t tried before

The meal was really great! We went on the Happy Hour Menu(2:30 — 5:30) with the 50% off on some dishes. We had the house wine for $ 5. The chicken breast($ 32 with 50% off) was really juicy and the penne strogonff($ 23 with 50% off) really soft and tasty! It is a great deal if you want to have a nice meal for a great price.

After reading some of the reviews of the prime rib special, I have to assume most have never eaten at a casino. That’s actually not fair to the $ 15.99 special we had on many a drunken night. Some of those casino specials were good. The salad was meh, its Caesar salad hard to screw up but black and blue gave it a good try. Almost as many staff as customers so somebody should have asked if I wanted something to drink. As far as the meat you get one choice of doneness. Better choose wisely or they bring you what they feel like. I’m running a contest on Facebook for people to guess what was put on my plate instead of a Yorkshire pudding. The winner doesn’t have to eat at Black and Blue. I’m pretty sure dessert came out of the same factory Tim Hortons makes donuts. This is our third attempt at the restaurant and the last. With so many great food choices in Vancouver just give this a pass. Ps my wife thought this was a harsh review. She merely thinks it’s not worth the price or awkward small tables.

Pricey but enjoyable. I’ve been there roughly 8 times and only had disappointing, inattentive service once. I tipped her accordingly. Back to the positives — for dinner I always get the Rib-Eye and a side of Brussels Sprouts. This is my favourite spot for Happy Hour. Probably the best Crispy Calamari I’ve ever had & an excellent Philly Cheese Steak Flatbread. Spring Island Mussels and the Phyllo Prawns are a good choice. Had the Duck Tacos once which were underwhelming and the Charcuterie was just okay.

For the Glowbal Group to delve into this type of marketing, my hat’s off to them. Will have to use them as an example next time my restaurant clients claim an aura of arrogance that they don’t need any marketing or business lol. Went in for some VIP set menu for $ 75 for set dinner for 2 and boy what a deal: fresh tossed Caesar’s salad, champagne, Yorkshire pudding with 10-ounce prime rib(not the best cut but whatever), plenty of great beets, 5-legs Alaskan Crab, and dessert. I was here more for the atmosphere lol. Great eye candy from the balcony view on the 2nd, it’s much better than the patio unless you like the fireplace heat & congestion.

What to say that hasn’t been said… We were on their Sunday dinner Prix fixe that is offered yearly. Prime Rib perfection. Exceptional service. Beautiful atmosphere. Dinner for two for 80 bucks? Hard to beat. Add in wine, cocktails, and an after dinner scotch and it only came to 120/couple!(We double dated with some friends on the same time-sensitive offer to capitalize on trying some cocktails and having wine too.) We’re headed to COAST in a few weeks on their latest deal(two for the price of one on a four course Sunday dinner for two) because after this experience, we want to do them all!

Came here for a friends birthday party. We were seated in a beautiful room around a large square table. The server wasn’t very pleasant. We had a few more people come while he was taking orders and he seemed very frustrated because he said it threw off his seating plan. I can understand this but he clearly showed his frustration which wasn’t very professional. We all got our food at the same time which was nice but our mashed potatoes were cold and the portions VERY small. I also ordered a coffee I never got. When we asked for our bill it was wrong and he told us it was because everyone had moved, even though our side of the table hadn’t moved an inch. All in all the restaurant itself is very nice, steak was great, the sides not so much and the server wasn’t friendly.

One of the best chef’s in town is here. They call him«La Maquina» ’cause thats the way he works, his name is Adrian, mexican, of course, and he is one of the most amazing chefs that I had meet in Vancouver(besides my husband that is Chef too). We came to the Black n Blue to celebrate our weeding ceremony, and the food was so great that by the time the main plates came we were full but couldn’t resist the temptation to keep on going eating. It was like this italian movie«La grande bouffe». Not only the restaurant is an amazing place, but the services goes beyond greatness. I wish I can marry again with the same lovely husband that I have and the exact same grand bouffe that we had at the Black n Blue. If you are looking to make a moment special don’t forget to reserve with anticipation and ask for Adrian«La maquina».

We did Dine Out Vancouver here last Friday night and it left much to be desired. So far we’ve tried most of the Glowbal Group restaurants and the only one we actually enjoyed was Coast. This is what I had to eat… 1. Stilton Wedge Salad: watermelon radish, pickled onion, barbeque corn nuts — I really wish they had listed blue cheese as an ingredient in this salad… I ordered it because I love the ingredients that are listed but when it came I had to pick away and avoid the chunks of blue cheese. It totally ruined the salad for me and I was so disappointed that I hadn’t just picked the chowder option instead. 2. Black+Blue Jerk Chicken: cheesy grits & collard greens — nothing special, the cheesy grits was like a layer of mush underneath the chicken and the collard greens were sitting in between. They were SO cooked I think they’re better in Asian cuisine. 3. Chestnut Almond Cake: apricot jelly, lime meringue, salted caramel sauce — this was nothing special it just tasted like an average mousse cake you could pick up from the local grocery store. Very little flavour We had a glass each of the Bordeaux, we also realized that the server asked if we wanted to do a half liter instead, but the prices just don’t add up. A glass at Black and Blue isn’t even 6 oz, its only 5.5 and the half liter equates to about 16 oz. A glass was priced at $ 11, and the half liter was $ 38. So if we were to just order the 3 glasses it would cost us $ 33. This is something that wine drinkers should pay attention to because I think consumers just assume that there is economies of scale when it comes to buying larger portions but it is not always the case! Our server was fantastic! He was very attentive and came back to offer pepper every time a course was served. He was diligent about clearing our plates and checked up on us frequently. I didn’t catch his name but he probably provided the best service I’ve ever experience at a Glowbal resto. This dine out menu was priced at $ 38/person, we did a $ 28/person menu at Oakwood and felt that Oakwood offered way more value for the menu price. The restaurant was beautiful, clean and good atmosphere — parking you can valet for $ 12 or you can do the underground parking next door for $ 10 from 6 pm to 1 am. We probably won’t be back but I’m glad we got to try it so we could kill the curiosity.
