The Keg Steakhouse + Bar – Thurlow

My wife and I had a great dinner at The Keg on valentine’s day. We both ordered the valentine’s special meal, it is pricey but we still love it very much. The salad is good, twice baked potato is awesome. I have to mention the potato, it is too good so I finished it before eating steak. Big mistake because I already felt 50% full after bread, salad and potato.
My wife had Fillet Mignon and I got Prime Rib. Both are pretty good, but we just went to Gotham few weeks ago, so our expectation for steak turns out quite high right now. Our steaks are high quality steak indeed, but a little bit oily. The only thing I am not enjoy is they put my seafood side (Oscar) on top of my steak, I personally prefer to have my first taste of steak without any sauce. Maybe it is how Oscar works, I never have it before, so probably my fault. Everything other than that is good, we both enjoy the steaks we had.
The thing really surprises me is Keg’s dessert. Billy Miner Pie is the best of the night! Cheesecake is decent too, they made a perfect ending of our valentine’s dinner. Our waitress is nice and friendly, she was very busy but still refilled our glasses just before they were empty. My wife and I drink water a lot when we are eating, we really appreciate we always have water in our glasses.
This is the second time I come to Keg. I really want to give it 4.5 stars, because I prefer to leave my 5 stars to Gotham only. But consider the price, I believe Keg is my #1 choice for having the steak in town with friends.
P.S: I love that we can make a reservation through Unilocal.When we arrived Keg we saw tons of people over there waiting for seating. I told my wife we might have to wait for a while, but no, we got our seats very soon. Great job Keg!
