I’ve been here a few times now as this usually proves to be an enjoyable and inexpensive night out. Last night, however, I was really disappointed. The opening act was the same performer that opened the last time I was here, which was at least two months ago. I remembered her right away because her jokes were the exact same as they were months ago. They were stale then and stale now. Our friends ordered a couple buckets of beer for our table, so we decided to order the spicy fries to go with the beer. These were probably the worst fries I’ve ever had. They weren’t spicy at all. Instead they were drenched in salt. If they didn’t cost almost $ 9($ 9 for just fries is insane by the way), I wouldn’t have ate them. After having a few too many beers and acknowledging that it was a Wednesday night and I needed to be at work the next morning, I made the mature decision to switch from beer to water. Or at least, I tried. Our server promptly told me they don’t serve glasses of water, just bottled water. I’m sorry, what? I just want tap water! Nope, they don’t do that. I’ve never heard something so crazy before. An establishment that serves alcohol refuses to give you water for free. For that reason(unless I plan to smuggle my own water in), I won’t be back.

We were disappointed the night we came here on vacation 2 weekends ago. Make a reservation for a smoother experience! As out of towners, we did not know this and waited in line for probably 30 min to even get in the door. Once inside, it’s almost impossible to get a drink. The waitresses serve you, you can’t order at the bar yourself. The drunk or drugged cougars sitting in front of us kept bumping our table, and finally spilled our beers(not the venue’s fault, but it was ridiculous). We ordered a bucket to save time. The show itself was not impressive. The host was the funniest one! Maybe we caught them on an off night or something.

Came here for the first time on Friday night to see a few good comics from out of town. Firstly I will say that they were all laugh out loud funny. Ivan Decker’s rant about Netflix really hit home and had me in stitches. Arriving to the club only a few minutes before the show started — and with tickets already purchased — it only took about 5 minutes to be seated. The wait in the hallway was incredibly stuffy and hot, if you’re arriving late and have to buy tickets, bring a water bottle for the wait. The ushers(bouncers?) were great about shuffling everyone around to maximize the number of people that could fit in while also keeping nice wide walking paths for bathroom breaks and the servers. They comfortably sat my group of 7 near the front. The service — specifically my server– was fantastic! Anna wore a smile all night, was attentive to our table’s needs and always seemed to time her visits perfectly. On her attention alone, the night was a 5 star event. Hecklers were dealt with promptly ensuring that everyone there had a good time. Find a comedian you’re wanting to see, and go to a show. It was a good experience!

A little disorganized when it gets busy as there is line to pick up tix, another to get in but gets crazy. The seats are packed in and quite uncomfortable but good venue to spend couple of hours to watch a show. Surprisingly the drink prices are reasonable but service is slow. Value 4⁄5 Atmosphere 3⁄5 Service 1⁄5 Quality 2⁄5 10⁄20

Had a great time with my wife on our anniversary trip up to BC. The house MC is very funny and even the opener, while pretty green, had us laughing. Took in the late show at 10:30PM on Saturday night and even though it wasn’t packed, there was a great crowd with a good vibe. Great service from the wait staff as well. We would definitely go there again if visiting.

This place is like a hit and miss. I have been to shows where the jokes are not funny and weeks the hooks are so hilarious that I almost laughed my head off. Great place to have a group of friends event. The language may be inappropriate at times. Kids are not allow.

Since my first time at The Comedy Mix, I’ve been back several times(on Amateur Night, as well as Fridays and Saturdays for their headline shows). Each time, the box office staff have been friendly and quick, the door staff have been great as well, and the servers in the club are attentive and super friendly. I haven’t had a bad experience yet. The level of comedy is always mixed each time you go, so depending on your humour, it can be a night of a lot of laughs or lots of cringes. Either way it’s a good time. Make sure you fill out the comment card, because I was able to win 6 tickets to a show once.

We arrived an hour early to get food. We were sat at the very front which was perfect. The food selection is fairly limited. They were short staffed so I felt bad for the two waitresses running around trying to serve a full house. The comedians were hallarious. It was such a fun time for me and my boyfriend. Everyone there was very kind and helpful. From the front door to payment to being sat and served, everyone had a smile on their faces and were very welcoming. I will definitely be going back and would recommend this place.

I went here two times in December 5&27, the first time we didn’t get the seatings we wanted and got placed closer to the back and a party came after came and sat infront of us. All just a miscommunication with my party and the hosts. I emailed the manager, Jason and he offered us 4 complimentary VIP seating and even checked up on us! Great staff & service overall, everyone was super friendly and helpful. The only thing I would complain is that some comedians tell the same jokes and once you heard them it isn’t as funny anymore. The second act, before the main event on Dec 27 was my favourite. He was the well dressed guy w the public transit jokes. One of the best I’ve seen so far! He comes up with new stuff, as my friends told me they have seen him before.

I’m not a fan of the Comedy Mix. I went there a couple of weeks ago with a small group, and not only was the door staff mildly rude(another group also thought them rude), but when I asked for a glass of water with my purchase of a glass of wine, I was told that they don’t serve glasses of water, but they do have bottles of water for sale. Excuse me?! You serve food and drink, but will not provide customers with a glass of freakin’ tap water?! Instead, you expect them to pay $$ for a bottle? Um, NO. As much as I dislike paying overinflated prices for something that is a basic necessity and comes out of the tap for free, I wouldn’t have had as big a problem with this if they allowed you to bring a bottle of water into the club. I drink a lot of water(I swear I am addicted to water, and I feel agitated and stressed out if I become too thirsty), so I regularly carry a bottle of water in my purse. About a year or so ago I went to the Comedy Mix, and they wouldn’t let people bring a bottle of water into the club, citing«safety» reasons.(Safety reasons my ass – it’s just so they can force you to buy an overpriced bottle of water inside the club.) Instead, they made people leave their bottles of water at the front counter in the lobby, for anyone to steal or roofie. So remembering this ridiculous policy, I purposely did not bring a bottle of water with me. After having a couple of $ 6 martinis at Relish, I was a bit parched, and I certainly wanted some water if I were going to consume more alcohol(I had a couple of glasses of wine at the Comedy Mix). When the server told me that they only SOLD water, I wasn’t rude, but I did tell her that I refused to purchase water if they did not allow people to bring their own. I was pretty firm(but polite), and they gave me a bottle of water for free. The only reason I am giving the Comedy Mix two stars instead of one is because they gave me a free bottle of water. But yeah, I am not impressed. And I seriously question if it is legal for a sit-down establishment that sells food and beverage(particularly alcohol) to deny patrons free water if they do not allow them to bring their own. If it’s not illegal, it’s certainly unethical.

I came here with my colleagues on a Thursday night. We arrived an hour early to grab the best seats in the house. I give this place a lot of credits because 1) This place is well maintained. It doesn’t stink like an old soggy kitchen mop with the under note of mold and death. The air ventilation was in optimal condition. It didn’t feel too hot, too cold, or stuffy, perfect for the buzzed crowd to laugh at cheap dick jokes. 2) Lady’s washroom is kept bright, clean, and well stocked. 3) The security is tight. The security guy in his well-dressed suit promptly checked my ID(how very flattering), stamped my wrist, and assertively told me which side of the velvet rope to walk even though there was only one of me. Kudos to crowd management. 4) wait staff = fabulous. The girls were good looking, attentive, and no trace of any bitch attitude. Fabulous! This place serves alcohol and finger foods. I had a cranberry & vodka; pretty straight forward. The nachos my colleague ordered took a while to make and it was terrible. The chips were stale, the melted processed cheese was dry like unwanted crusty underwear. The nachos came with salsa and sour cream. Tickets are $ 15 per person.

Love this place — always a good laugh and decent nachos! Its a bit tricky to find the first time as there isn’t a big sign — but just look for the doorman directing people downstairs to the comedy club! Oh! And make sure you do the feedback cards and sign up for the mailing list and you’ll be sure to win free tickets to future shows! I have!

The comics are great. They have a kitchen so you can get food items like nachos. Drink specials are good and regular price drinks are a decent price. They also have coffee drinks which are a nice treat. Downside is they only serve bottled water at $ 3.95 per bottle! They will not serve you a glass of water. When you are drinking liquor and eating nachos you get really thirsty and have to buy water! They will search purses on the way in to make sure you don’t bring your own water. I ordered my single high balls in a tall glass but they kept coming in short glasses. I wanted the tall glass cause I needed to quench my thirst!

The talent is usually at least professional grade, and the table service is prompt and efficient. The Comedy Mix acts like it’s a sleazy little hole in the wall; ticket sales five feet from the door but they want to stamp your hand because. .. what, you’re going to leave early and sell your $ 17 ticket on the street? Please. The doorman insisted on stamping my hand, and when I told him that I’d like to wash it off, he said, «Yeah, well, if you go to the men’s room and come back without the stamp, you won’t get in.» Really? Then who’s going to pay the tab at the table? This should be a 4-star place; and security is fronting like they have a tough crowd when they don’t, and the first words from the MS are about setting you, the patron, straight. Please. This isn’t some trashy nightclub, it’s a nice place and nice people come here.

Decent venue! Went to see Bryan Callen last Saturday night super funny! Staff — Super friendly and helpful. Price — Very reasonable especially for a more well know comedian($ 25). Seating is good for viewing, got there just after 7pm and got great seats in the second row. Though now I wished I was sitting in a booth because the chairs are a little uncomfortable after a while of sitting there but I could toughed it out lol. I’d be interested in seeing what an amateur night is like! Can’t wait to go back :)

Check them out on Tuesday for their Pro-Am night. Ever thought about being a comedian? It’ll remind you why you shouldn’t be one. That being said, the nights range from ok to great, and with seasoned comedians as hosts, you’re bound to get at least a few laughs in. For 8 bucks, it’s not a bad way to spend a Tuesday evening. My pro-tip: fill out the little comment cards and pop ‘em in the fishbowl before you go. You’re pretty much guaranteed to win free comedy tickets for you and a group of your friends.(You can thank me for that one later.) Just know that if you win, they call you rather than email you to let you know. All I’m saying is: be sure to answer those mystery-number calls, you phone call screener, you! As is usual in comedy clubs, their drink prices are pretty steep and their food is basically Costco appies. That being said, the guys that work the door are always friendly and their lineup is usually pretty solid.

This is a decent place and one of few comedy joints in the city. So really, your option is Comedy Mix or Comedy Mix **OR** head over the cambie bridge to Yuk Yuks. I prefer to stay in my bubble so I can grab good eats & drinks within the bubble. Staff has always been friendly and treated me well here and the company of friends and laughter is always great. I would like to see a renovation for Comedy Mix. Doesn’t have to be glitzy or glamorous but getting rid of that seedy vibe, removing the nasty carpet, etc, would definitely freshen this joint up. Also, in the food & beverage service industry, patrons have the right to request free tap water. A free source of water must be provided; this is the law. You cannot refuse free tap water and only offer $ 4 bottled water. If you only care to serve bottled water, then by law you are required to supply it for free. Eeks!

I coerced my partner buy tickets to the Northwest Comedy Fest a few weeks ago. We had never been to the Comedy Mix before and so didn’t know what to expect. They seemed pretty organized with security, admissions, and seating. From what I saw the night we were there they run two shows per night so don’t expect to hang out long after the show is over. Do expect that you will be served food and alcohol at your table. If I were to describe the menu I would say movie theater selection and prices with the addition of cheap uninspired liquor options. If you bring cash you will be able to pay quickly and not miss most of the last act because you are messing with the interact machine in the dark. All in all the show we saw was very entertaining. In fact some acts were down right hilarious. There was actually only one comic that was a bit awkward to watch. Then again I guess everyone has different tastes when it comes to what makes them giggle. Would I go again? Definitely.

Comedians were decent, staff was decent. Food was a little less than par but not too bad, very limited menu. Also the tables are so small they are not even big enough for one plate of food and a drink yet they put 5 people per table. They might as well just not have tables and just serve everything in to-go cartons, which would be more convenient. For $ 10 it’s ok but don’t plan on being comfortable! Cheers! Oh ya! The thing that pissed me off enough to right this review! THEYDON’T SERVEWATER!!! YOUHAVETOBUYIT!!! Being forced to buy water is BS!!! Not going back because of this!

I’m still laughing. This is a great place to hang out with a group of friends or on a date. It’s only my second time here. The first time was when it was Yuk Yuk’s during the Olympics. Admission isn’t that bad and they have drink specials. I would have gotten food, but I was stuffed. Of course it’s hit and miss with the comics, but the ones we saw that night had really clever jokes. Lots of seating. Go with a big group to share the buckets of beer. Umm, don’t heckle the comics… some guys behind us did and got a stern talking to… Aren’t you supposed to heckle? Is heckling bad? I guess it’s not improv.
