First time there and given as a christmas present, I did not know what was coming. It was Colin Kane, who apparently is an insult comedian. It was one of the worst experiences of my life. There were two of us women, and we were shown seats at the very front, so although he insulted many in the audience, we were in his direct line of fire. We wanted to walk out but his public shaming and insulting of women and races and young people was so violent, we were afraid to make a move. If this is humour people are into now, we’ve deteriorated as a society. I cannot understand YukYuks promotion of such horrible public humiliation as humour! Shame on you Yukyuks.

A fun night experience for an affordable price. Nothing like a great laugh with a bunch of people. They had a lot of variety in comedians and the mc did a good job bringing it all together. I will recommend this to everyone and will be back again soon.

Went to yuk yuks tonight for a friends birthday… They had reserved seating for us as there was six of us… When we got in we ordered drinks off the bar and a waitress put a glass of candy on our table which we thought was free as it was our first time here… Then the same waitress came over asked us where we got the candy from we explained she put it on our table she abruptly took it off us and said you have to pay!!! We then continued to order drink off the waitresses… Toward the end of the night i asked if i could pay my bill off and the waitress rudely said and quote«no you can wait till i finish last orders»… As rude as she was i waited and paid my bill! Our friends tried to order another drink and the waitress literally brushed off my friends shoulder and refused! I want to say a huge thank you for the manager Jasmine who offered us free tickets for such an uncomfortable experience! If it wasn’t for her we wouldn’t come back!

The comedians they have in are great. However, the service is absolutely atrocious. 45 minutes in our cramped seating before anyone even looked in our direction. Had to ask twice if we could order, the first waitress told me it wasn’t her section and walked away and then took at least another 20 minutes to order. There was 3 tables of people that were completely ignored. If you know you have a sold out show, bring in extra staff. Alternatively, get one of the dudes standing by the door doing nothing to pitch in. I will go to Laughlines in New Westminster instead. Excellent staff, great venue and much more reasonably priced.

This is a comedy club in a defunct hotel(so the MC for the night said). What is it with comedy clubs in basements? We had a Groupon(2 for 1) valid for the summer. We tried to use it earlier in the Summer, but we were running late. We arrived 20 minutes after the show started and were discouraged from going inside. Now having been to a show, I think that may have been unreasonable. There are essentially 4 comedians who performed the night we were there. The MC was a big and boisterous guy, local, and funny. Perhaps the funniest guy there that night. He and the other comedians all seemed to dwell on the energy level of the crowd. There was a lot of effort put into getting us to be loud, to laugh, and make noise. Seemed like a waste to me, if they’d just told jokes and been funny, we would have been laughing. The first official comedian was something. He was on-stage for 5 minutes but was crass, foul, obscene. It would have been nice to have a bit of a warning. He was very mildly funny, more of a shock comedian. The second comedian was pretty funny but kind of abrasive. He was entertaining but a little rough, there were gaps, which is to be expected. The headliner was good. Basically a really nice guy who told good jokes and kept things rolling pretty well through his 30 minute set. The service was pretty good, we had a nice waitress who was pretty good at taking care of us. The food was okay, not spectacular and not the best value. Drinks were fine. We spent nearly twice on food and drink that we spent to get in. The show lasted about 90 minutes.

This place was disgusting! You’re greeted by dirty carpets and a bartender who not only looks bored but looks homeless! Drinks suck and are way over priced as is the food! Show was to start at 10:30 good luck

Terrible staff and manager. It’s a comedy club! Staff is too strict and pompous that it puts a real damper on mood. Would NEVER recommend going here due to the uptight manager who puts strict regulations on patrons. She needs to be fired. Hire a manager that will make this a fun place to go.

I purchased a Groupon deal(2 for 1 kinda thing). So worth it! The MC Ian Black was hilarious he was funnier than the other acts. 3 stars because it was so warm in there the AC wasn’t cutting it for the hot summer Vancouver weather and the menu SUCKS! We made the mistake not to eat before the show because we had the intention to order appetizers and drinks, watch the show and eat after. Ordered only beer the snacks were chips and salsa, popcorn and some other garbage… or a 10 inch pizza for $ 16. The main act was great, local guy James Kennedy(I think). Had a good time just don’t go there hungry.

I love live comedy, it’s funny and entertaining. I end up going every few months either with the tickets I have won as a VIP or with a Groupon. Every couple of months, I win tickets:) The location is nice because it’s close to downtown, but not in the core of downtown making parking is much easier. Often times there are repeat comedians with the same jokes but you get the odd gems that really make you laugh until your stomach hurt. I will be going again this Friday and hope there will be some new and exciting acts from a couple months ago. Overall Yuk Yuks treats me well and it’s my recommended place for comedy in Vancouver. It’s an alternative from watching movies in the theatre, sometimes you just got to mix it up!

ZEROSTARS! 1. Shameless business /marketing practices 2. Apathetic staff and manager 3, Low humour filled with bashing of certain groups and sprinkled with hefty cussing! 4. Went 3 times — this last time was amateur night — one comedianne and comedian were good 5. Tickets were pricy for the quailty plus expensive beer and food brought over from another place 6. No Parking — except the street so sometimes very difficult 7. Tight seating

This is my first time to Yuk Yuk. I usually go to Comedy Mix for standup comedy. This place is not pack and not as dark as Comedy Mix. Not sure is it because of its location, the venue was half full. In terms of comedy show it depends on the schedule. Well I went on a Wednesday which is Amateur night so you have different comedian doing a 10 mins comedy show each time. I have heard of the same joke from the same comedian at Comedy Mix. So its a hit and miss depending who is on. The stage is decent size. You have the comedian coming from the side of the stage and not the back. But their prices is cheaper compared to the other comedy places. As well the tables are more spaced apart.

This place is a hit or a miss depending on who is performing. Amateur nights can be a bit dragging at times but from time to time you will see good comedians there =). I don’t recommend the popcorn as its super salty, the price for food isn’t the best. If you had to order, pizza would be best bet. Be sure to take your stub next door to Firefly to get discount on booze before or after the show. ;) Parking can be tricky, get there early and you may finding parking out front.

Really disappointed that the crowd can not interact with the comedian. All other comedian shows I’ve been to it’s been encouraged to interact, here it’s sit down, shut up, laugh when needed and drink your $ 7 beer. Won’t be back. Manager could also use a customer service course as well. NO idea how to deal with unhappy customers. On the upside comedians were funny.

I’m giving Yuk Yuk’s 5 stars JUST for the headliner Adam Richmond(who was on — Saturday March 28th), 3 stars for the other comedians and 2 stars for the lack of food served at this establishment. So we will give it a total of 3 stars. We ordered pretty much all of the things on the menu — which included soggy, soft hot wings and bbq wings, caesar salad, popcorn, chips & salsa and the veggie platter… Such a mish-mash of food! The popcorn was good, although how can you screw that one up? The wings were terrible, they tasted like frozen microwaved wings… yum! The caesar salad was alright, although 3 of us were sharing it and we only got one fork… and our side plates were — PAPERPLATES! They didn’t have many options for non-alcohol drinkers… no coffee! I had to drink 2 virgin caesars, then just had water. The comedians — I’m sorry to say the girls weren’t that funny… the first female comedian was super quiet, we could hardly hear what she was saying over some of the drunk people talking behind me. The second female was a little louder and funnier, although I still felt like I was forcing my laughs at times. The men were a lot funnier, but the funniest of all was of course the headliner — Adam. He stayed on for a long time as well, leaving the crowd laughing constantly. He did a great job at keeping the audience interested… even if it meant to be vulgar and politically incorrect a lot of the time with jabs at all races. Our entire party had a hoot. I’d definitely go back, I always love a good laugh.

The comics are awesome. They have great drink specials. Downside: the late show is earlier than most it is at 9:30pm on Saturdays and they do not have a kitchen. So you can only order food like chips and popcorn here and they don’t have coffee either. I have only been on Saturday nights so I don’t know how it is other nights.

I’ve been going to shows at Yuk Yuk’s for ages(anyone remember back when they were at the Plaza of Nations?), and I’ve found the shows to be consistently decent. The drinks and food are head-shakingly overpriced, but that seems to be par for the course with comedy clubs. Looking for an excuse to get out of the house mid-week? Check out their amateur night. You get to see a whole slew of comedians for $ 7, and though some can be hard to watch, there tends to be at least a few that are very funny. Also, be sure to fill out the little comment cards and leave them your email address, as you’re pretty much guaranteed to win free tickets to upcoming shows. As far as comedy in Vancouver goes, Yuk Yuk’s generally isn’t my first choice. There are a number of improv acts around the city that are pretty great, and for the classic comedy club experience, I tend to see better performances at the Comedy Mix for some reason. Having said all this, I’d love to see someone open a comedy club that’s a little more… hip. What’s with all the little-stage-in-front-of-a-brick-wall nonsense? It feels so 80’s –and not in the good way.

as long as that red headed lady is not on stage, I’ll be fine with it! She tells the same jokes every single time; which are not funny at all! I’ve been here several times and most of the comedians are pretty good! overall it’s a great place for some laughs !

Always sit front row for best results. Originally on Burrard, the franchise has set up shop in the basement of an abandoned hotel renovation. It’s pretty similar to its former location inside. It has tables and chairs. We came on a Wednesday, which is amateur night. $ 5 all in. Best entertainment value bar none. There were around 6 or so comics. None caused crickets to chirp. The crowd was particularly engaging and at some points down right hilariously honest sharing details that acted as golden material. They don’t have a kitchen so snacks are limited, but you go to stand up to get drunk people. Mad respect to the comics.

I’ve been to the Yuk Yuk’s downtown, but definitely like this place better. Parking is not the best, you have to basically find street parking. Doors open at 7pm, so don’t go there early, because the doors will be locked. Show starts at 8pm. The servers were polite and friendly. Okay chips and nachos. Cocktails weren’t that great for $ 9+, okay they were awful. Amateur night for $ 5 is definitely worth a try with some friends. Lots of amateur comedians, but I’m surprised that they weren’t bad.

Came here for some laughs with a buddy. Parking here is kind crappy, but there are free spots to the west(along Ash, for example). The venue is pretty decent, with a dimly lit room with plenty of tables. In the waiting room there is a bar. The stage is quite tiny, but it’s enough. After all, you’re really just watching 1 guy and a microphone. Beers and other drinks are available even during the show, while you can drink while sitting there and getting entertained. The quality of the comedians are actually pretty decent. There were some slow moments, but there were definitely quite a few good laughs. Just a tip: don’t sit too close to the stage if you don’t want to get heckled by the comedian. And don’t be uptight or he/she will totally rip into you.
