Temaki is by far the best sushi in Vancouver! The nigiri and sashimi are always the best cuts and huge portions. The sockeye is the best you’ll find. Rolls and kitchen dishes are also excellent. They never waiver, you can expect fantastic food and service every single time, no exceptions. The chef is a true perfectionist and it shows in every dish. We bring all of our friends and family here when they are visiting and every one of the agrees it is the best sushi they have ever had! Some of our personal favorites are the sashimi wraps, the asparagus appy and the the hand cones.

I love Temaki. It is always very busy, so you should make a reservation if you’re planning on dining in. The takeaway is usually very speedy, and I usually call ahead so that it’s ready for pickup. It is a bit more expensive than the BC sushi down the street, but the sushi is much, much better. For quality, the prices are pretty spot on. I usually order tuna sushi(sashimi, maki, and nigiri), and I’ve never been disappointed with that here. My boyfriend also loves their chicken teriyaki. I have tried most of the sushi places in the area, and this is by far the best. I would also say that for the price, this is one of the best in Vancouver.

The service was OK and the tuna was good. That’s why I do not give 1 star. Their rice was extremly sticky and was over cooked with no doubt. However the fish fall down easily as the rice stick to the wood plate much more. Octpus sashimi was not fresh. A octpus nigiri was served though I’ve ordered octpus sashimi. Shrimp was like defrosted from fridge. Soy sauce bottle was filled to neck and easily got spilled. The cook were busy preparing take-out dishes while I was staring at them. Generally it is my second worst sushi had in Vancouver. What’s more it’s pretty expensive.

I work near this place and I eat out for lunch everyday. This place has great food, although the portions are smaller, the food is great. I am giving it one star because of one man. As I was paying for my meal I didn’t tip him and when I said I didn’t need my receipt he said«You didn’t tip, boy.» He gets paid just like everyone else working full time, sure it’s nice to get tips but I will NOT tip every time I eat out at every lunch because that adds up very quickly. That being said, I do tip if something happened that was really nice or above average service.(Which is what tipping is for) But that does NOT happen every day. I will NEVER be coming back to this place again. After all, this is Vancouver, there are plenty more sushi places to go that are a lot better than Tamaki.

This is one of the nicer sushi bars in town! Great food, great service and great menu! Price is reasonable and the people are great, what else can you ask for. Yes it gets noisy at times due to the crowds, but I guess you can’t expect everything :) Great place to come when you are just craving for Sushi !

The best sushi by far in the area! If I have friends visiting Vancouver this is my go to neighbourhood sushi spot as first time sushi folk love it. The fish is always super fresh, their spicy sauce is a beautiful, fresh sauce and their rolls are always spot on! I love getting the maki rolls with a side of spicy sauce as it is nice and light and does perfectly for a light lunch. Their sashimi salad is divine and has generous portions of tuna and salmon with avocados and their house spicy sauce! I would keep in mind they are usually packed to the doors but are snappy with their take out and always friendly.

We had both a Donburi(salmon) and several rolls. There’s not a ton to say, other than that the sushi and bowl were fresh, very good quality, and well-prepared. There’s nothing here that blew me away, but it was all above-average for a sushi restaurant in this price range. 4 Stars for me usually means that a restaurant surpassed my expectations but didn’t blow me away. That was definitely the case for Temaki. Price for everything was also very reasonable.

I love this place! Only been here a couple times but the sushi is very tasty, staff is super attentive(there are always a lot of people working) and the prices are good. I especially appreciate how attentive they are to refilling waters, as I’m that customer who constantly has to ask for more water. Good amount of seating, and I like how you can see the sushi being made right there. The food also comes very quickly after ordering.

A-OK, hence the three stars. Service was attentive as others have noted. Green tea was always poured to keep my cup filled. Chicken karaage Nabeyaki udon Karubi — grilled short ribs Dynamite roll One notable diff: Karaage came with some kinda dipping dipping mayo. Quite good. Everything else was pretty standard, nothing that really stood out. One other thing to mention, my palate was very off that evening. So off, that the grilled short ribs made my stomach turn. The fattiness was very stomach turning for me. On a normal day, this would not have bothered me as much. I likely would have enjoyed everything a bit more if I was feeling a bit better.

Temaki has the freshest sushi in Kitsilano. I highly recommend the spicy sashimi with avocado and tako karaage.

This is my latest«go to» sushi spot for the family. Great prices, excellent quality, a varied menu, and attentive staff. This is a great place for a more casual meal or date, for a family or large group. If you’re looking for trendy chi-chi settings(which I eschew), this ain’t it. As always, I’m chasing Marc D, my top recommended reviewer for Vancouver… who came here long ago. He calls it a «budget sushi bar» — which Vancouver has so many of — and he’s right, but I like it even more than he does. This is a cleaner, brighter, higher end experience than most«budget sushi bars». If you have people in your party who don’t like sushi or want hot dishes, Temaki has a nice variety. Their takoyaki is spot on. The variety & flavours of their donburi bowls are good. The omakase is delightful here. Better than many nicer spots in Seattle and literally almost half the price. For just under $ 30, my latest chef’s choice sushi( ) had about 9 well-crafted nigiri sushi and a negitoro maki. Chef is very attentive and consistent here. After my first visit, chef has always remembered my favorite nigiri that I mentioned to him upon leaving. His cuts yield the softest bites. The staff remembers my family and always welcomes us back. I appreciate that kind of attention and service. Recommend!

I work close-by to Temaki Sushi, so I frequent this restaurant often. Every time I order my lunch or dinner, I am confident that the fish will be fresh, and the food scrumptious. I can not say this about any other restaurant that I have frequented as often. Hilary and his staff are always pleasant and courteous, with smiles to greet me as I come in, and über-frequent visits at my table. It is my pleasure to recommend this restaurant to those who love good sushi at an affordable price-tag.

My go-to sushi restaurant for takeout in Kits. The sushi is always fresh and tasty even after spending a ride in the car inside their takeout containers. They are always busy, but that’s a good thing since it guarantees a quick turnover of the raw fish. The service is rushed and maybe not so warm, but it’s totally fine considering how busy they are. They have all the standard rolls and I enjoy them all. Agedashi tofu stays crispy & flavourful. Love their noodles too. We eat here 3 – 4 times a month & have never had a bad meal.

One of my fave sushi joints in Vancouver. Dependable, fresh and delicious. Comfortable atmosphere, nice presentation. Prices are reasonable and service is usually prompt and friendly. Some of our favourites are: Negitoro cone, tuna gommae, spinach gommae, tuna agaedashi.

The location is very central and the service is good. Ordered the ebi mayo, assorted sushi and a roll combo. All of it was good and presented very nicely. One of the dishes even had a radish base with a tree and carrot shaped prawn garnish. Very cute. It’s not a fancy place, but the food is good and quick. Recommend it for a casual dinner.

We were visiting from Oregon and got this spot recommended to us by a local. She recommended the sunshine roll– which doesn’t photograph as well as it tastes, but it is good! I’m glad we were able to check out this local spot in the kitsilano beach area, and it was convenient for us because it was on our way south from Granville island. Overall, I thought the food was myriads better than the service here— but maybe I was biased because I m a tourist I was expecting better hospitality. The sushi was great, we also got a seafood udon and tofu anagi that was amazing too.

Remember 3 stars means A-ok! Good sushi, above average for the price. It also has nice décor, better than I would have expected for the old«Bino’s» block,(and not to be confused with BC Sushi which is a few doors down but the bad” cheap sushi). My only beef was the wait staff(and not all of them, some were very friendly),. our waitress was kind of cold and another staff member seemed to be pressuring us to leave when there were plenty of free tables,. I might have given a 4th star were it not for that.

We were craving for Japanese food and found Temaki reviews were great. We got there at 11.45am and only 1 table customer at far end corner. We got seated and tea served right the way. I noticed and overheard the most of staffs were speaking Chinese! Hmm… I started having a doubt Chinese people running Japanese restaurant. Many students came in at noon time and got full house in few minutes. All the students surrounded us and felt like in school cafeteria. Tuna and sockeye sashimi — It’s good but not great. Tuna was quite mushy. Rainbow roll — It’s ok and bit bland. Tataki salad — it’s fresh but salad dressing is mediocre. Chopped scallop cone — It’s tasty but not impress. Ungai Don — It’s so delicious! Fresh grilled eel and good size of bowl of rice. It’s relatively inexpensive, but fair quality of food and good service.

Came here for lunch and tried the Temaki Combo. Everything on the board was well crafted and tasty. I upgraded the salmon to the wild sockeye salmon for 2.00 extra. Making the dish cost 15.99 instead of 13.99. I think upgrading to the wild salmon is worth it. The dynamite role was well crafted and put together. The ebi had a nice firm texture. The sashimi was fresh and melted in my mouth. The chopped scallop was the bomb. The only knock I would make on this place is it is a little more expensive than some of the other places in the city. I might have given them 5 stars if I didn’t have to pay extra for the wild sockeye salmon. If they used the wild stuff for everything and charged accordingly I would like this place even more!
