I’m not a sushi expert or very picky at that, but I find this place to be awesome! Great prices and good service! I’ve gone 4 times so far and every time has been great!

I love this restaurant. The food is always amazing and the severs really friendly. I order food from here quite often(few times a week sometimes) and have never been disappointed! My faaaaaav is the spicy tuna roll!

The sushi is of average quality and quantity. Good value overall considering the location. It gets busy at dinner time so best to go early or be prepared to wait. Service is ok.

Came here for dinner with my boyfriend and I was not impressed. We entered the restaurant and waited to be seated. The server saw us, walked by and ignored us. We were finally seated into one of the booths and ordered shortly after. My boyfriend ordered a dynamite combo and I ordered a dynamite roll, spicy salmon roll and a miso soup. My miso soup arrived first and the rest of the rolls took about 45 minutes to arrive. Our rolls finally arrived and our server did not acknowledge or apologize for our long wait for our rolls. The dynamite rolls were decent and big but I was surprised of how small my spicy salmon rolls were. They were literally salmon maki rolls drizzled with hot sauce on top. We won’t be returning to this restaurant anymore.

friendly fast service, cheap, and original tasty rolls. i believe its owned by koreans so some of their original rolls are korean style such as kimchi roll. personal favorite is cheese bug roll.

The place is just OK. Not bad but not good. The items on their regular menu is lacking, but their specialty sushi is pretty good, though pricey. The service is usually sub-par, their waitresses can be extremely rude sometimes. I had problems with their debit machine, the first time was my fault as I used the wrong card but the second time was the girl’s fault. I felt sorry for causing a bit of a line so I gave them a nice tip, but the girl just looked at me and glared, didn’t even thank me or give me a receipt. This isn’t the first time I encountered such service here. If not for their service I would have given this place 3 stars.

Tasty food. Usually pretty quick service. Good lunch specials. They have the best gyozas. Great location for running some errands afterwards. Safeway, whole foods, COBs, home hardware all in the area, plus other stores.

One star for the cozy décor. There are traditional booths that provides some privacy. One star for the food quality. Otherwise the service is horrible. It took forever for the waitress to come take our orders, even after we flagged her down several times. She just looked our way and totally ignored us. When she eventually came she had a rude face and temper which made me wanted to walk out. The food also took a long time to arrive and same thing happened when we asked for the check. Not a very nice experience. Seems like they are particularly nice to western customers.

3.5 stars for HUGEBC rolls, but a steepish price for Vansushi. I ordered a lunch special: 6 pc BC roll, 3 pc tuna maki, 3 pc salmon maki, 1 piece of tuna ebi, and 1 piece of salmon ebi(comes with miso and salad) for $ 11. The BC roll was much larger than BC rolls I usually have at other places. The fish in the maki’s tasted fresh, and the miso soup had a good amount of tofu pieces. The salad was pretty standard(iceberg lettuce) but I really liked the sesame dressing! I enjoyed the booth I was seated in. You take off your shoes and sit on mats, really liked that. The service was pretty good!

Dinner was good, the food is fresh and doesn’t take long. The crazy roll is crazy good. The veggie Bento box is a lot of deep fried good eats. Good agadashi tofu. Pretty reasonably priced too. Really nice attentive service.

This is my go-to place for affordable, fast, fresh and delicious sushi! It’s unfortunately close to my house and I stop in far too often on my way home from work when I just don’t feel like cooking. If you dine in try and get their low booths. You get to take off your shoes and sit around a comfy table.

The waitress was so so incredibly rude and made me feel like it was a burden to have to serve my mother and daughter and I. She asked how many? We said 2 ½ and she just turned around and walked away without a word. We were kind of confused until she returned and put the menus on the table right there and said«shoes off» and before I could ask where the best place to put the stroller would be, she turned around and walked away again. She came back with tea and not a word and left. Never asked if we wanted anything to drink. Then she came back for our order and I said 2 bento boxes and I was going to ask her about some sushi so I had my menu open in front of me and I was pointing the the sushi section but before I could say anything she actually took my menu right out from underneath my pointing finger.. Stunned, I calmly reached across the table to get my mom menu and opened again to the page I was on and asked if any were deep fried like maybe a California type roll. She said yes but it costs extra. So I said I’ll have a dynamite. She left, came back later and dropped the food, didn’t ask if we needed anything else, didn’t even give us a chance to say anything, and never came back until we were done. It was so uncomfortable. Food was great.

I was starting to feel like an expert on three star sushi, but this place is always pleasantly surprising and it has been a fine experience for cas. walk-in/take away for a very long time. So although it’s nothing extraordinary, compared to my other take-away places, a four it deserves. Come for the 4 – 6 pm special; it always sucks me in. Substitute black rice and no mayo in the Cali. roll special. $ 10 with tip for take away. Service is friendly and nice. Loved the black rice and it was worth the $ 2 surcharge. I can’t say that I’ve ever eaten in, but it does seem welcoming and friendly. And it’s amazing what a tip on take-out will do. I was served tea, and I could relax and enjoy the moment. I really enjoyed my basic rolls and it did the trick for an easy dinner. I guess that’s why this establishment has managed to stand the test of time when other places around it don’t experience the same longevity.

I have been enjoying this place for a couple years now. They have a great selection of sushi, bowls, bento boxes, and much more. I am a vegan so I am able to have their vegetarian box just without the miso soup as it contains fish sauce. Also able to enjoy their other veg rolls and they have a lot of them :) Love the brown rice option as well. Always good quick service with friendly staff. I enjoy eating in their cubed sitting areas or taking food to enjoy at home.

Of all the Unilocalable spots, in all the world — I think i’m pickiest about sushi joints. So let’s call this an enthusiastic 3 stars. I’m on a bit of a Kitsilano pilgrimage as of late — I often forget about this neighbourhood until I’m there and poof — people! food! drinks! — it’s a magical discovery each and every time. So in the name of backyard adventuring, i’m trying to knock down every sushi joint in Kits this summer. This is number two and though i’m not disappointed, i’ve yet to be wowed. What this isn’t, is mind blowing What is is, is a solid little sushi joint. The food is decent, the prices are typical — a little on the high side, but I was ordering fancy rolls, so the basics are pretty same old, the portions are a great size and the service is ok. It’s all in all, a pleasant way to spend an afternoon. One thing that stood out here was their sushi cake — very interesting nibbles indeed. I feel like this would serve as a tasty introduction to a sushi newbie. They also have pages upon pages of unique rolls — a lot of cooked stuff(not my preference) but what looks like a lot of fun combos. If I lived in the hood, it would take me awhile to make it through this menu, which keeps things fresh for regulars. I wish it had wifi, but i’m slowly learning that I often wish this at sushi spots. All in all — it’s dandy.

This is the closest sushi place to me(and living in Kits there are many in walking distance) and i frequent it about once a week. I’m aware it isn’t the BEST sushi place in Vancouver but for the convenience and price it’s well worth it. The sushi is always fresh, the lunch specials are extremely reasonable(I can get a meal + snack out of the sushi lunch, or 2 meals out of a bento box) and waitresses are friendly and attentive. They have a number of special or favourite rolls that are a fun change and all their traditional sushi is great quality. I will definitely continue to frequent this place.

What a pleasant surprise! I stumbled in and grabbed a quick lunch — the fish is sooo fresh! Excellent quality, quick turnover and the best part was the Japanese speaking sounds I heard coming from the waitresses and sushi chefs — it was music to my ears!

I was back again for lunch and was not disappointed. Their lunch specials are a great deal, their fish is fresh and the ambiance is relaxing. Their sushi rolls are just the right size and not overly padded with rice. My only wish is that they had more salmon skin in the BC rolls. This time I was adventurous and tried their specialty rolls… I have to say I was a little disappointed. The name of the rolls are all so unique but the flavors don’t match up to the price of $ 7−10/roll. So I’ll be sticking to the usual suspects. Thanks Hi-Nippon for being my ‘go-to’ sushi place and always keeping my tea full. I know it’s a hard thing to do when one drinks as much tea as I do!
