Worst sushi ever. Cheap food, cheap quality. Save yourself. Rice is gross. Food looks good on the walls but is shoddy on the plate and tastes like paste. The fish was not fresh at all. Now I have an awful feeling in my belly. Had to write this before I left just to vent. Yuk!

Nothing special but the service is courteous and fast. A little more high end than a random take out or fast sushi, good nigiri but not awesome on the rolls. Good deal for a lunch. Sort of dark inside, could use more lighting and decoration.

I would rate as 0 star if possible. Absolutely disgusting. Menu pictures all show regular sushi, didn’t realize they use brown rice until I got home from a takeout order. Aside from the rice issue, the fish is just not fresh and sushi is poorly made. Do yourself a favour and pickup a Wendy’s burger across the street instead.

happy to get a quick roll to fight my hanger(hunger/anger, yes?). bland spinach avocado roll for the win except that i hate finding roe on my rice! also, i wish there were dishes for eating in rather than disposable everything but i do like the lining under my roll on top of the plastic tray. the tray doesn’t seem like it could be food safe!

Flavourless white rice(missing sushi seasoning — vinegar). Nigiri was the worst! I recommend paying $ 1 more for black rice

Having a hankering for some sushi while wandering down Cambie Street on a Saturday, I decided to give Sushi. E at try. Although Sushi. E calmed my need for a sushi fix, it was not memorable or a place I would seek out, especially with so many other sushi places available in Vancouver and, more importantly, in the Cambie/Broadway area. Sushi.E can easily be overlooked as the restaurant front and restaurant itself are quite tiny. Being small isn’t necessarily a bad thing, as some of the best or neatest places I’ve ever eaten at have had less than 10 – 20 spots for people to sit(i.e. Jethro’s Fine Grub, Fassil, Two Chefs and a Table). However, although these other places are small, they still make the space their own and put a spin on it. Unfortunately, Sushi. E does virtually nothing to add character to the space and, as a result, is very minimalistic almost to the point of uninviting. When you enter Sushi. E you will notice a big board on the far wall showing the various boxes and combos you can get with item numbers and prices. However, there are no descriptions of what the items are. Yes, there are pictures, but, at least to me, sometimes some rolls can look very similar to one another. It would be nice to know am I getting 12 pieces of the same roll, or are the pieces made up of two different rolls. Looking for more guidance, I looked to the cashier. This is where my experience became a bit spoiled. Trying to get a hold of cashier was a task as the cashier seemed to be more interested talking to her friend sitting at the sushi bar. Eventually, she got the point I wanted to talk to her and asked about the different combos. Instead of verbally answering my question, she just pointed to a printed menu behind me and made the motion to open it up. This did the job, but it would have nice to have a little more inviting bit of help. Most combos or boxes are $ 9.95 or less and include 1 roll(8 pieces of one type of roll) and 4 – 5 pieces of sashimi. I ordered a spider roll that came with 2 tuna, 1 salmon and 1 prawn sushi for $ 7.95. Less than 2 minutes after I ordered the plate to stay, I was served. At first I was pleasantly surprised, but then I started to think. Even if made quickly, to make that many pieces of sushi should take almost anyone at least 4 – 5 minutes, and I received the plate at my seat in less than 2 min. Upon first glacé, the sushi looked alright, but looking closer, the rolls were not tightly rolled and fell apart fairly easily. Furthermore, the rolls were not fully covered in rice(more than a ¼ of the roll pieces were missing rice). Most importantly, the sushi itself was a little warmer than I would have anticipated or liked. This lead me to believe the sushi was prepared earlier in the day and served/plated when ordered. I did not get ill from the sushi, but for Vancouver, a city with a plethora of places that have cheap, fresh and fast sushi, this walked that fine line of being not good to inexcusable. When I was done with my sushi, I went to the cash register and threw in $ 1.50 for a tip since I decided to opt out of giving a tip when I paid with my debit card to start. Both of the workers behind the bench saw me put in my cash and said nothing, they didn’t even flinch. I don’t know what they were expecting, since I felt for the quality of food and minimal service, I thought it was an alright tip, especially since several people came in while I had my lunch and didn’t give any tip at all. As a result of the sub-par sushi, basic atmosphere and non-existent customer welcoming/interaction, Sushi. E is a restaurant I wouldn’t go out of my way for or probably return to anytime soon with so many other cheaper and fresher sushi options in Vancouver.

Avoid this place like the plague unless you’re desperate. I consider myself to be a bit of a sushi veteran/snob, having grown up with Japanese relatives and eating sushi frequently all my life. That being said, this is poor quality sushi, albeit for a fairly cheap price. I have given this place a shot about 4 times now, simply because it is so convenient for me, and it is always so busy, but after today I will not be coming back, for two reasons: Poor service and even poorer food. Firstly I’ll talk about the service. Slow! However, I could deal with the slow service if the woman manning the counter(always the same one) wasn’t so rude. Every time I have come here she has tapped her fingers while I count out change, snapped her fingers — yes, snapped — and called me over when my food was ready(despite the fact there were no customers at the counter — could she not have brought it over?) I have also yet to see a smile from her, usually I just receive a surly, miserable, almost angry stare. It seems like she is able to proficiently speak English, but often chooses to ignore you if you pose a question or complaint. On to the food! Bad fish. It is very slimy and poor quality, however I haven’t gotten food poisoning, which is good. The rolls are also loaded up on rice, however that is to be expected when you are paying a little bit less, i don’t really have any real complaints there. The rolls also often fall apart, but really, my main issue is with the sketchy looking fish. Essentially, if you come here… don’t come if you are in a hurry, don’t expect stellar service, and stick to vegetarian items, and you should be happy enough. The prices ARE cheap, just not THAT cheap.

I hate that I even have to give this place 1 star! I figured that being in a higher traffic area this place would be safe for a quick lunch snack. I was completely wrong with this decision. Not only was the sashimi slimy, fishy and horrible tasting… my husband and I both had the luxury of having food poisoning within a couple hours of eating here. Needless to say… DONOT eat here… walk up to broadway and go to Ji Sushi

I always see people eating here so decided to try it. Bad idea. The place is small and seating is barely existent. But that’s all ok. The worst part is the food. The rolls are soggy and tasteless. Will not go back. There are a few other sushi places just up on Broadway.

My third time here. It’s located along Cambie right by Save on Foods so it is located at a really great spot. Sushi is all right. There is nothing special but I have to say I appreciate rolls when the rice doesn’t completely fall apart when picked up and their rice stayed in place. Space is pretty small but it is clean. It is pretty a self service place. You place the order at the till and you go and pick up your food. They do take credits cards which is great. One complaint is(not just here) is when I pay by credit card, it automatically asks for tip. I don’t mind paying tip as long as I get serviced(i.e. server who takes your order and brings your food etc). I always feel so awkward and don’t know what I to do. I did ending up paying a $ 1.00 tip. If you are in mood for quick rolls when you are in the area, it’s not a bad place to go.

Wow… I see people eating here all the time while I’m heading to one of the neighbourhood businesses, and one time me and the fiancé decided… let’s give it a shot. I wish we hadn’t. :( The order itself took a while to get in(not a lot of people in there, so it wasn’t crazy busy), but I’m ok waiting if I’m getting a screaming deal, or the food is GREAT… and… it was neither of those. I’m maybe not a sushi professional(heck… I don’t even eat seafood… so my experience is usually vegetarian at a sushi restaurant), and the fiancé is maybe a little biased from her experience being… well, Japanese from Japan… My take… like almost every single place… it was a roll bulked up SO much on rice as to make it almost not single bite worthy. You can’t make a roll so fat you can’t fit it in the mouth all at once… cut back on the rice a bit… I’m not seeing that amount of rice as value… just cheapness! Secondly… the fiancé didn’t even finish ½ of what she ordered… it just didn’t taste good, or fresh. All you people in there all the time… you’re either getting better stuff than we did… or you need to try some other sushi restaurants.

After a long bike ride to Home Depot I decided to grab a quick lunch before carrying on my way. I was pleasantly surprised with Sushi.E. I ordered the Seaweed Salad as well as the California Roll and Miso soup specials. All three items were wonderfully delicious. The restaurant was extremely clean(which is frequently a rarity for cheap sushi places), the prices were low, the service was quick(although not at all overly friendly, but pleasant enough) and the complimentary tea was flavourful and steaming hot). I went back a week later for more!

Should have read the reviews above before I ordered but I was starving. Had«real» crab rolls for $ 5 and change to go. No mayo. Was quite fast, actually. Lady didn’t smile, even when I tipped her, which seems to be the norm when tipping for take-away, anyway. They put everything in the bag, which was a plus; I hate it when you order sushi and you get home and there’s no chopsticks, soy sauce, napkins etc. Rolls were über-tiny and fell apart when I tried to eat them. I guess I should blame it on the lack of mayo. Anyway, I won’t be shopping at this entire complex again if I don’t have to. Validated my parking while shopping at Save-On and was still charged before exiting, even if I was well under time. So annoying.

Meh. Of all the sushi places in Vancouver, it’s not bad, but not spectacular. We waited quite a while for our veggie sushi combos, and were disappointed when our miso soup arrived, for eat in, in a plastic bowl. The woman manning the country seemed to have a pretty sour disposition for some reason, and I am still not sure they were happy to see us… despite it not being that busy…

Doing a bit of shopping on Cambie, and stopped to have a ‘quick’ bite. Was enticed by the authentic looking signs — until I started reading the Japanese and realised it was, well, wrong. Nevertheless, kudos for trying. Then I ordered. And waited. And waited some more. And then the guy sitting behind me said to the girl beside him, «Have you been waiting long?» and then said to the lady behind the counter, «Things are a bit slow today, aren’t they?» She ignored him. When my ‘quick bite’ arrived, it was fine. Just fine. Not bad, not great. And they gave me a spoon with my miso soup.(What’s up with that? For the white guy?) I should have just grabbed a slice of pizza around the corner, which was my first instinct…

I was lured in by their fancy sign advertising cheap california rolls for $ 2.95. This little restaurant is super small and definitely not authentic Japanese — I knew what they were saying! Hmm… sushi rice tasty mushy and so did the imitation crab. Honestly, for 2.95 I can’t complain. It was ‘meh’ and I will most likely come back for their cheap california rolls. Perhaps next time I might try more.

Sushi here is like a slow moving crescendo — it gets better and better every time I go… but in itty bitty baby steps. The first time I came here I swear I took a nap waiting for the food to come out. It’s probably because they were cooking rice because the sushi rolls were warm… which in my books is sushi TABOO! It was like eating warm watermelon — yeah, who does that?! Well… I did because it was still decent. The other times I’ve come here, the service got speedier and speedier. Hurr. I left out the«ay» in the«hurray» because they were so speedy once they forgot my order of sunomono. I got home ready to devour the noodl-ey goodness and it wasn’t there! My heart broke a little, which is why I minused a star and gave Sushi. E 2 stars. Other than that, the food is alright. It’s not mind-blowing fantastic but it’s not poison-inducing either. It’s one of those sub-par(aka. forgettable) sushi joints. Rolls aren’t huge but they’re not tiny either; they’re not all rice but there’s still quite a bit of rice on them; and the innards aren’t super yummy fresh but they’re not terrible either. Like I said, sub-par. For you sit-downers, there’s some space inside to enjoy your meal but this place is by no means a restaurant. It’s fast food all the way! But it’s still an awesome place to eat your sushi then mosey down to Winners or Best Buy for some odd shopping.

I stopped in on my way home one day, since I noticed that the sandwich board outside boasted pretty cheap prices. I was pretty stoked to see a nice veggie combo on the menu when I came inside, and then it was downhill from there. Cheap, sure if you are ordering California rolls to feel like you are cultured. I asked for an oshinko roll, and they didn’t have any. Boo! So I went with the veggie combo, which was an avocado roll, cucumber roll and a veggie roll, which was mostly just lettuce and rice. Yes folks, all this and no miso soup for $ 7.00! I doubt I will be back.

I did not have a good lunch experience here. Their chicken teriyaki combo meal came with the aforementioned chicken on a bed of rice, california rolls, and cucumber salad. The rolls were mediocre at best and appeared made with the same amount of quality only a supermarket deli’s Japanese food counter can produce. The chicken however was the worst offender. Not only did the chicken taste old, but they didn’t bother deboning the bird either so I kept having to spit little bits of bone out as I was chewing. I suspect the chicken might have either been poorly steamed or boiled(or, at the very worst, microwaved) because the skin that was still on had a goopy, limp mouthfeel that was extremely unappetizing. I realize this place sells their stuff cheap, but I’d gladly pay a few dollars more for a meal that didn’t make me want to retch.

I stumbled across this new sushi place along Cambie Street near the Save On Foods. It is a very small place but it is super clean, the people are very friendly and the sushi is fresh. The prices are great, and they have good lunch specials. Definitely a place to check out when you need to grab a fast, fresh meal on the way to catch a train on the Canada Line!
