It’s by far the worse Japanesee food ever. Their ignorant and crappy service also compliments the quality of food. This kind of a business should not be a part of Granville island.

The owner was not honest. Their credit card machine was not working, so I had to pay cash. We are from the U.S. and she counted one U.S. dollar as one Canadian dollar. The official exchange rate on that day was over 1.2, and other businesses in the market were using exchange rate of at least 1.1. Okay, fine. So, I gave her U.S. dollars and for the change, she gave me Canadian dollars. I said, you are already counting one-to-one, how about you give me change in U.S. dollars? She said she didn’t have any. But I know my wife just paid with U.S. dollars to her. It was little money, but left a bad taste.

I’m sorry to be mean, but this place was dreadful and I’m posting this bc of the arrogance of the owners or employees there. I went there to order some unagi for my daughter, and in the process I learned that while the item is on the menu, it’s no longer available bc the supplier sources the unagi now from China. Per the female sushi chef, «We have standards here. All of our fish is wild and we don’t sacrifice anything. We only use high quality ingredients…» Here’s the joke. I ordered a CA roll for my son only to come to learn they use artificial crab(i.e., pollock), and then tried a chicken udon for my daughter and saw they use(inexpensive) dark meat, and it tasted dreadful(and who puts a ladle of teriyaki sauce in the udon). And I do mean dreadful. Here’s the hypocrisy of all of it. I don’t even think the people who were there were even Japanese. I suspect they were mostly Vietnamese, and maybe the udon guy was Chinese. All in all. I wish no ill will on someone trying to make a living, but please be more humble about how you see yourself and not pretend to be what you’re not.

This place was disgusting. You can read a similar review from someone else who had a similar experience if you search for their restaurant name under Granville Island Public Market. I ordered the gyoza and the tempura Udon. Apparently they have things partially prepared and then heat them up. The gyoza was burnt on the outside and cold on the inside. The tempura wasn’t edible. They took tempera that had previously been fried and refried them. It had the consistency of a soggy overcooked McDonald’s french fry that was left in the fryer too long and then soaked in water. I love Granville island and there are plenty of good restaurants in the food court. I feel bad for anyone who tried any of their raw sushi. Unless you have a bottle of antibiotics and antacid in your pocket, avoid this place like the plague.
