Had a good time with the girls. Small portions for a larger price but the tasting flights were great, sampled the oysters(A+), pork belly tacos, duck confit tacos, bbq chicken pizza, and Spinach dip. The indoor patio was a nice touch and the local BC beer and spirits were a great feature of this unique venue.

This is one of my favorite after work places. However it can get pretty loud and the seating is self serve the food and drinks make up for those faults. The portion sizes are huge. Come hungry or ready to share. The bar tenders are excellent and they have a great bottle selection.

Went here for a drink after work with my husband last night. The drinks on the menu are way over-priced for what they are. I ordered the Ruby Tuesday since the waitress told us about it and it was the most disgusting drink I’ve ever tasted. It tasted EXACTLY like the red NyQuil. Gross. I took two small sips and realized there was no way I was going to be able to drink it, so I called the waitress over and told her how disgusting it was and ordered a new drink. When we got our bill, she had charged us for that nasty beverage. I was very unhappy. We paid and left. Never going back.

Came here today for a business lunch. The service was great, very attentive waitress and prompt service. The food was delicious as well. I got the Oyama panini with the lentil soup of the day. The panini had chorizo, field mushrooms, arugula emmental cheese and the flavours worked. The lentil soup was decent and what you would expect of it. Overall, a great place for a business lunch as the service is good and quick, the prices are very fair for downtown and the food is solid.

Despite Blastoise rain-dancing on a Saturday night. The interior is beautiful and was pleasantly lit with warm yellow lights. Great Canadian Hospitality. Start with a ‘Dead Frog’(seasonal) with ‘Gypsy Tears’(ruby ale), to get started. If you’re a fan of coffee, you’re getting ‘Java The Nut’ end of story. It’s got that delicious hazelnut flavor with a nice Jet Li kick of tequila to it. Check it out boi

I went to grain because I thought they would have an extensive beer menu. They don’t. Even with a name like ‘grain’ they only have 5 beer on tap. They are all local beer and the one I had was pretty good., but I wouldn’t head here again for beer.

This lounge is located on the North East corner of the Hyatt on the main floor. You can enter from Burrard street as well as from the Lobby . It sounds like it will be way louder then it actually is. They have some low tables with couch like seating, as well as high tables and chairs. The bar itself is pretty much in the middle. It’s dimly lit, but not too dark. We arrived around 930 on a Thursday evening. It wasn’t packed, but it was over half full. Our server came over shortly after we arrived.(He wasn’t overly friendly) We hadn’t had a chance to check out the drink menu, so he said he would come back. At first glance I over looked the cocktails completely! Once I did locate them, there were 3 – 4 I was interested in. When he came back I ordered the Ruby Tuesday. My friend ordered white wine. We also each ordered a flat bread — Bbq Chicken for him and Chicken for me(both came with bacon and avocado toppings) The server came back with only the wine and informed me that they had to locate some strawberries. He didn’t offer or bring me any water. I waited quite a bit. He came back with plates and cutlery. I told him I could chose another drink if it was too much of a hassle. He said it wasn’t and then finally came back with the drink. I have to say if was worth the wait ! It was beyond delicious– Raspberry Vodka, Taboo Absinthe, cranberry juice with lots of thin strawberry chunks. I had 2 and my friend had one as well. Our flatbread pizza was equally good. The crust was tasty, avocado fresh and chicken tender. They were baked to perfection and were a really generous size. I took over half of mine home. I didn’t get to try the other drinks that caught my eye like the Cherry Basil Margarita, Melon Baller & the Xombie. This only means I shall have to return to sample them all !

Came in here to watch the blue jays as it was the only place with TV’s and a seat! The inside /décor is nice. Service was friendly, but very inefficient. The nachos we ordered were cold, the cheese and meat platter had stale bread and took 30 mins to arrive — which is too long considering the place was ½ empty. They have a long way to go if they ever want to draw crowds away from joeys and cactus — which by compassion — are so much better. They are fortunate to have a hotel attached, otherwise, I’m sure the doors would be closed.

My night started fairly late last night around 10:30, so me and my boyfriend decided to try this place. When we first walked we were a bit confused because there was no host stand. Standing at the bar were 5 wait staff, just having a conversation amongst themselves. The concerning part is that they all saw us walk in and NO one wanted to greet us. We had asked if the upstairs was closed and I felt the response given was a tad rude. As one of the ladies offered to let us look at the menu, the two other girls standing around rolled their eyes at us. Because it was late, we didn’t want to go anywhere else so we settled. We had the BBQ chicken pizza which was delicious. We also had the pulled pork sliders. The pulled pork sliders were presented to us on a plate with smeared mayo along the side of the plate *yikes* the worse part was that someone did attempt to wipe it off before sending it out to us, but decided«fuck it just send it out» Not the best experience.

I enjoyed my time at this Hyatt Regency lounge. It’s not as good as the other bar on the second floor of the hotel, but I liked it. I didn’t expect much of the food, honestly, but I thought the albacore sliders were delicious. I ordered the bison meatballs, too, and those were just okay, pretty basic on their own. I wouldn’t get them again. They had bits of chicharon, which looked good on paper, but they tasted a bit stale. My fiancé liked the octopus appetizer. Cocktails were okay. I asked for a Moscow mule, but they didn’t have ginger beer. I somehow ended up with a decent mimosa. Staff members were a mix. Some were better with people than others. Service was slow on a busy Saturday night. We were never asked if we wanted drink refills — we had to request the bartender’s attention first each time a drink was in order. Ambience was great. Full of generally good-looking, well-dressed people, but then again this is in Vancouver, so I guess that’s typical. It’s nice in the summer because they open up the windows, so there’s lots of fresh air.

The Kettle Valley Semillon Sauvignon Blanc recommended by the wait-staff was fantastic. It had bright citrus aromas, warm tropical notes with a touch of honey sweetness. Very wonderful white wine to imbibe on a warm summer day. The cheese plate was very disappointing. I ordered the aged farmhouse cheese, buffalo brie, goat gouda, and aged gouda. The cheeses were not funky or stinky, but they all tasted like they had been left out of the fridge for too long and took on a somewhat sweaty flavour. The«crisps» were dry white bread slices, the«spiced» nuts were not spiced, and the honey was not truffled despite the advertising. All around disappointing.

So, I don’t write a lot of reviews. I feel a place has to exceedingly exceed my expectations to garner my praise or seriously screw up so badly that they deserve an acerbic commentary. To wit, I feel must extol the virtues of Grain at the Hyatt Regency in Vancouver. If one were able to fall in love with a bar, consider me out and buying a ring and ready to propose marriage to this place. More often than not, there is no point to stay in your hotel and eat and/or drink. Grain is an exception. Admittedly, I did not try the food. However, I did try many of the drinks and I can say that their drinks rival any of the cocktail bars I’ve been to in the world. The Aviary in Chicago, The Dead Rabbit in New York, Patterson House in Nashville, The Laundry Room in Las Vegas, Artisan in London, sure they’re good, in fact, excellent… but if you don’t go to Grain when visiting Vancouver, you wasted a trip. The cocktail menu is varied and clearly meticulously designed. The staff is among the friendliest and most beautiful people you will meet on the planet. Heidi, Chorin, and Sophe are all professional, pleasant, and pulchritudinous. Heidi owns the night in her recommendations about town. Chorin mixes a drink as good as, if not better than, any mixologist. Sophe… well, to carry on a conversation with Sophe and her alluring Australian accent, makes this a 5 star recommendation in and of itself. Managers Taylor and Nipar(sp?) were also phenomenal. I have never felt more welcomed in a town I knew not well before in my life. In my 3 nights in town, I visited many places that were good, some even excellent, but the quality of Grain’s menu and the exceptional ability of its staff kept me coming back. In fact, it isn’t the beauty of Stanley Park or the amazing outdoor activities surrounding Vancouver that I look forward to returning to… it’s the outstanding staff of Grain. And, for that, I give them all 5 stars.

Food: 3 Drinks: 4 Service: 4.5 Ambiance: 4 Came here to grab dinner and realized it was more of a lounge with small plates rather than a restaurant. We decided to stay and have a drink and try the duck tacos before heading somewhere else for a more fulfilling meal. The porter on tap that night was delicious but the duck tacos fell short as we couldn’t really taste the duck. Great service and a nice view of Burrard street if you get a seat by the window.

My wife, my brother-in-law and I went to Grain to get our brunch-time drunk on a few Sundays ago and it was fantastic. It was over the holidays, so it was very quiet. The service was very friendly and helpful, as we had a lot of cocktail questions. We each ordered three of their fancy cocktails over the course of our meal, so we kept the bartender very busy — she did an excellent job and all the drinks were a hit. My personal favourite was the Vancouver Fog, a delicious, boozy take on a London Fog, with Earl Grey-infused whiskey. HEAVEN. The Cherry Blossom was also a hit with me, the girl-drink-drunk. I also had the Caesar, which was not my favourite. What weird stuff is everyone putting Caesars these days? Pickle juice? Too much lime? Lately, all the Caesars I have feature this off-putting taste. Anyway… We all shared an excellent charcuterie platter before our individual meals, which I highly recommend if you enjoy the meats and also, the cheeses. I had the duck and waffles, which was really good(could have used a titch more sauce or maybe another egg but otherwise it was grand). Really comfortable seating, great cocktails, yummy food — we’ll definitely be back.

On my continued search in this city for the ‘no doucebag’ places to go, it seems like we have another one that on the night I showed up, there were none of the afforementioned DB’s on premises. The old Mosaic, which has changed it’s name, and looks is a nice place to actually sit around and have a drink, and some food. On any given night there seems to be some sort of ‘special of the day’ present, for me this did not matter, as long as the above is checked off. A chic looking place, part of the Hyatt hotel, I enjoyed my time here. Plenty of room, it’s not a cramped up lounge where you are hearing the conversation from the next table. A predominant bar sits in the middle of this establishment, seats wrapped around, if you choose to sit here, couches and tables in the middle of the floor, and elevated tables and seats along the sides of this place. What’s also nice about this place is that it is open till 1AM, as it seems most places you want to sit in for a nice drink shut down around 12 in Vancouver. Going through the menu on this night I decided to have one of their red wine flights, you get a choice of 3 out of the 4(they also have a white wine flight), you could also choose to pick just a glass from their menu, not as vast as some other places I have been to, but it will do. Our other friend just kept on having whiskey sours on this night, so the bar is mixing, and probably mixing anything you want. Speaking to the waitress, in the warmer months, the windows along the side are opened up to get the fresh air in, a nicer place to sit right in the summer, and in a very central area of downtown. Our service was pretty attentive on the night, not too busy on a Saturday, it was an easy crowd on this day, more of an older crowd. Food is served from the Hyatt kitchen, as this place is connected right to it. Transit is right next to this place, other than paying for meter parking, not bad if you want to actually carry a conversation.

Convenient location close to Burrard skytrain in the Hyatt regency hotel for after work drinks, meeting up with friends, or chilling out before a good night out. Daily drink specials, specialty cocktails, and the have a tasty selection of meats and cheese to nibble on. Service was spot on and the location cannot be beat.

5 Star Review Alert!!! OK, so lets get this review started. :LOCATION/ATMOSPHERE: Located at the Hyatt Regency in Downtown. Very convenient for hotel guests, locals in the area. The bar area is pretty swanky. When the weather is great(which it was while I was in town) the panels are open and you can enjoy the views and good weather of the city. Plenty of seating at the bar, high-rise tables and lounge tables. :DRINKS/FOOD: They have a drink and food specials everyday of the week. Which I sampled often. Various beers, and Im not even a beer fan. But I liked the beer I tried. The spinach dip was delicious and creamy as well. :SERVICE: OUTSTANDING. Seriously some of the best consistent service ever. I was here everyday, it was like version of Vancouver Cheers. Yes, they knew me by name. The staff here really took care of me. Rather it was creating a drink out the clear blue, or giving me recommendations for other places to go. Cant wait to return.

I came here on a sunny Friday evening where all the patios are packed with people and any location with a view of Coal Harbour has at least an hour line-up. I liked the fact that you can find a table and just sit there without having to wait for someone to find you a seat. The décor is nice, reminds you of the glamour era of Chicago with oversized stools, low lounge tables and diner style settings. Our server was very nice and friendly and the service was timely. She only interrupted our conversations when she suspected we needed a drink or wanted to order food. I started off with a Cypress Mountain Tea, with fresh blueberries and mint which was a refreshing cocktail perfect to end a sunny and warm day. Then ordered the Charcuterie with only meats, yes they do that here. The okanagan wine prosciutto was out of this world. The Charcuterie plate came with a some honey that was«decorated» with truffle oil and some delicious walnuts, roasted to perfection. Needless to say, I’ll be back to taste more of the amazing cured meats and sip it down with flavourful cocktails.

Pros: *On a nice day, they open up the windows and you are pretty much sitting on a patio, overlooking busy Burrard. *They have daily specials on food and drinks. *The pizza menu looked good(but didn’t try) Cons: *It’s a hotel restaurant so it’s unnecessarily expensive, in my opinion. *I ordered the steak salad with crispy onions, roasted tomatoes and 68 degree egg. It was great, with the exception of the lettuce — it was on a huge slice of iceberg. Not delicious. Not the right lettuce for that dish. Spicy arugula would have been a much better choice. *Service was friendly, but the food was a bit slow. All in all, I wouldn’t really recommend coming here for the food. On a nice day, it is a good spot to sit, have a drink and do some people watching on Burrard though!
