We used a groupon for most of the items ordered but even without it very worthwhile to try out this restaurant. Their combo roll are a great deal!

Discovered this place through a Groupon. Tuna tartar was great 5⁄5. Salmon Carpaccio 3.5÷5. Yam Bam Bam 4⁄5. Miso ramen 4⁄5 and Sashimi Cold Ramen 4⁄5. Overall great deal. Fast service and was very pleased. Would recommend to friends and definitely coming back.

Got myself a Spicy Red Devil ramen. the spiciness level is not as high as advertised(3 Chilies hot) I’d say it was a decent mild spicy. They accidentally put more noodles instead of extra Chashu but the waitress corrected it at billing time. The presentation for the sashimi dishes are impressive and for the amount of sushi you get its good value! I got a sample sashimi(surf clam, tuna, salmon) was placed on a shredded cloud of daikon radish + garnish all over chunks of ice to keep everything cool. We all got ramen and all tasted great no complaints about the soup or noodles. plenty of toppings and meat for those who ordered meat ramen. Rolls came out looking superb and appetizing. The food and the mix up I have no qualms about it’s the under staffing and un-bused tables and dirty wet floor behind me that bothered me. The waitress just played with her phone when she wasn’t doing anything. We could have gotten our tea refilled at least twice that night? but Dirty dishes and candy crush was on this girl’s mind and that I DO have a problem with. One of our friends came in with a baby. The waitress again did nothing but flail her arms and sit by the register texting. I had to walk into the storage area and pickup a baby booster and grab my own glass of water. I guess weekends they are under-staff but this is ri-dic-u-lous. Good food. Terrible attitude from Daria(our waitress).

Searched Unilocal for ramen nearby and found this place. I never come past to 41st and Victoria Dr. so I wouldn’t notice this place. It’s a small restaurant. The interior is hardwood panelling and some wall decoration. The floor is slippery at times, so the chairs would slide as you sat down. I ordered from their lunch special menu. My first impression was«Wow! You get all these for that price?», but soon skeptical thinking comes into place. On their lunch special menu, there is no indication of «Choose one», so you will think you get everything under the selection. I ordered the Shoyu ramen with a chopped scallop roll for $ 10.95. It also comes with miso soup and a salad. The ramen is pretty average. There’s nothing special in the broth. The sushi was good and«saucey». They garnish their roll with an extra helping of mayo. By the time my meal was finished and we were full, the salad comes along. With this place not so busy at times, the service Is awfully slow. I’m not as impressed as most.

First time checking out the restaurant for lunch because we had a dealuse, it’s a small ramen and sushi restaurant. At first the price was alittle on the high side for a E. Van restaurant but you get 3 pieces of sashimi or roll, soy sauce dish of seaweed and a ramen. I order the sashimi cold ramen, I made an excellent choice, there is some healthy vegetables, avocado, approx. 6 pieces of sashimi on top of cold ramen with soy sauce. It was very well balance favor and indigents were fresh. The hot red-devil ramen was very flavorful and the char siu was excellently braised with marinate perfection. The noodle texture was good because it has a bounce texture, which is not too hard or soft. just right. It’s worth going back again.

*Review for their sushi only* Wandered in on an impulse today. thinking«I don’t need to consult Unilocal for this one. I’m sure its ok.» NOT. OK. As I sat down, I decided to check them out… reviews all over the board. I decided to try it anyway as my tea was already on the table. Salmon maki(my personal sushi benchmark): Between the unpleasantly warm /bland /mushy rice and equally mushy salmon… it was unappetizing to say the least. Sashimi salad: Came with 6 pieces of sashimi(salmon, tuna, tako, hokkigai, ebi, mackerel) on a wilty flat bed of greens and over-dressed with a mix of very salty/sour vinagrettte and some creamy dressing. Another unimpressive dish. Service: as previously commented, this is a chinese run establishment… enough said? I initially only ordered the salmon maki and the waitress pretty much looked at me with a «that’s all you are ordering??» expression. Not professional. I told her I would order something else in a bit, and subsequently ordered the salad. Pretty much silent service all the way afterwards… smiles not included. Other: — toro sashimi but no toro nigiri?! Why? why? WHY??? — Parking on the street is very tough to find after around 10am — cash only The best thing I have to say about this meal is that it came with a guava candy at the end.

If you dont mind waiting a bit longer for your food, definitely give this place a try. For the price and quality of food, it is decent. However, sometimes the rolls have a bit too much rice around them for my liking. My favorite is their cold sashimi ramen, its light, mixed with a spicy, sweet soy sauce and comes with a good amount vegetables and sashimi.

Heard some pretty shady comments made about this place in the past so I was a bit hesitant to try it out but it turned out to be a surprisingly good experience! The food was all very filling and tasty and the service was very friendly, efficient, and attentive! I especially enjoyed the ramen which was surprisingly large portioned compared to other ramen places that I’ve been to. That said, it wasn’t overly salty either so that’s another plus in my books. Would definitely return in the future to try out their sushi! If you can’t find a spot to park in front of the restaurant, you can park along the street behind the restaurant, by the school. 20% off during their grand opening ain’t a bad draw either!

Came here by accident after finding out the previous tenants had moved to a larger location down the street. Parking is available on the side streets around the restaurant. The interior is quite plain, but it’s somewhat to be expected. This place isn’t a 5 star experience. Most of the tables are quite small, so it would be best to keep one’s group to no more than 4. The staff are Cantonese speaking, which means that unfortunately the experience won’t be most authentic. Sure enough, my hunch was correct. Agedashi tofu — actually not bad. 9 little cubes. Nice toppings as well. Shoyu ramen — unfortunately quite mediocre. Tasted like something one would find in the dried food section of a supermarket. Meat was a bit dry. Nice soft boiled fermented egg though. Overall it’s a somewhat decent place, but I would imagine there are much better choices in the surrounding area.

Do not come here. We waited over 15 minutes to be served. When the server finally came by to take our order I explained that we had been waiting quite some time and that she never came by until we had to flag her down. She first replied by saying, «yeah, sure.» Then, «do you need more time?» This was our second time being subjected to the horrible service here. Earlier in the year when they had first opened we came in and asked which ramen broth was recommended, their response: «what? I don’t understand.» Many other great sushi places, don’t bother venturing out to this one.

Chinese owned Japanese style restaurant. Cash only. The décor is nice, simple, and clean and the service very good(would be 3.5 or 3 if service was lacking). Came and stayed a little past closing and the server was still very polite and asked if we wanted anything else. The server gave us 25% off, we didn’t know it at the time but there is a special going on for this month celebrating the owners new child, a nice surprise. The girlfriend got the shio ramen. Nothing special, wasn’t bad but not incredible. Whats nice is it comes with yolky egg, something you have to pay for at certain joints. The cha su was not her taste, had more thick smaller pieces. I got the Sunshine Roll, California Roll, and a Chicken Karaage Don. California roll was good, could taste the seaweed(first time in awhile). The sunshine roll is a sweet one, tamago, cream cheese, mango, and avocado. Pleasant mix of flavours, I liked it and would order it again(my girlfriend, not so much). The Don was good, lots of meat and have no complaints. It was only $ 6.50 too(and their tuna don is $ 5.50), cheap! Whole thing came to $ 19. Good service and good cheap food places this place on our list of places to go when we’re bored of our usual haunts or can’t decide between Ramen or Sushi.

Barely… and I’m being nice too. First off, you’ve got to be able to make a basic california roll, right?! Actually, it wasn’t the taste that bothered me as much as the rice, while it was made nice, the colour was a bit off, but the texture/chewiness was not good, almost soggy-like. Barely finished this, as I was dreading the 2 more rolls that took forever to come out. granted, server said there was only 1 sushi chef(true), and a full turn going on, about 8 tables. Red Dragon: eel, avocado, and one of the better spicy sauces out there; a nice kick, nicely scattered like those cappachino foam, no joke. But again, the rice wasn’t there, in fact, what bugged me the most was that no matter how carefully you picked this up, it just fell apart… the eel just slid off, and the rice just didnt’ hold its contents either. Crunchy roll: salmon was way, way too cold; I kid myself that at least they kept this in the right colder temperature. The crunch bits weren’t all that great. Actually, I didn’t have too much expectations after reading the menu, and Chinese characters aside, I didn’t give cred to some much of the previous Unilocal reviews. Heck, it’s new, and you never know til you try. It’s an easy pass for me, really have to wait til the chef gets his act together; give him credit for working like a dog, waited about 20min. Nice and clean, basic décor. Friendly server, she did refill tea a few times.

Have only been here once so far and would definitely go again. I had the Queen roll(baked salmon) and the«I love u» roll of which I forgot the name. Both were fancy and delicious. My friend also had a chopped scallop roll and said it was good. If you’re into fancy sushi rolls, this place has many to choose from and they’re well-priced. Can’t wait to try the other items! Just hope this new place has enough business to stay open! It’s my new favourite sushi place in the Victoria Drive area.

The ramen was plentiful and tasty and unlike many other ramen places in the city, filled with yummy things like egg and fat slices of chashu pork. The chashu was delicious! Moist and thickly sliced. After living in Japan for 3 years, the tiny amount of dry, shaved chashu that you normally get in Vancouver is always disappointing. The sushi was average but tasty. Service was normal. I will go back for the ramen!

Newcomer on the block. I think it’s Chinese-owned Japanese food, but their sushi guy looks like a hipster. Their sashimi and sushi is suprisingly good & nicely presented. Not as nice as Kishimoto, but it’s also not as pricey. Quality is there. Avoid the ramen. I liked the Unagi Oshi-Sushi — tangy creamy sauce, seared unagi and salmon sandwiched in the middle.

Friendly service, affordable price, and nice environment. I order sushi at this restaurant. It was fast and the ingredient was fresh. Most important, it’s delicious here. There are also lots of free street parking. I totally would come again in the future.
