The salted chocolate was rich and not overly salty. It was just right.

I just tried Da Vinci Gelato for the first time at the Unilocal Elite Lumberjack event. It was amazing! I had tried the salted caramel and the salted chocolate and they were both delicious. I could have went back for more!

I have had fresh gelato in Europe before, and this stuff is better! They have very unique flavors that you can’t find anywhere else. The Chardonnay gelato– which has a touch of alcohol in it, was to die for! You can tell they only use natural ingredients and the highest quality of products.

Wow, this stuff is FRESH! You can taste the real ingredients(and love) that go into these treats! I tried the Coconut, Stracciatella, Strawberry and Lemon flavours at the Unilocal Picnic Party(don’t judge… it was between 2 of us!) and they were all delicious. The coconut was more like a nice refreshing coconut milk rather than ultra rich and creamy or an overpowering artificial taste. The stracciatella was milky and smooth with flecks of delicious chocolate. You could see the seeds in the strawberry gelato, a nice mild and again not overpowering authentic strawberry flavour. And the lemon was tart and sweet but not TOO tart(although as a lemon fan, I would have liked a bit more tart!). They were all solid flavours and I would definitely be happy to go for seconds(fifths?) next time I run into them at a farmers’ market. I do wish that some of the flavours were a bit more inventive(hello, Cravings Gelato?), but Davinci Gelato Originale is classic gelato at its best.

I came across the Davinci Gelato Truck at a charity event at the Valley Zoo. I sampled a couple of their ‘signature’ flavours such as; straciatella and peanutella(both amazing). And then I had my go to fave, lemon. Oh My Word! Tart, sweet, bright, clean. Everything a perfect lemon gelato that is straight out of Rome should be… If you ever see this Truck out and about, stop and get a scoop or two! You will not be disappointed. Oh, and a special shout out to Yvonne and her son Felix who own the truck. Devouring amazing food is just that much sweeter when it comes from wonderful people who you can tell really pour their heart into what they do — the love in this gelato really comes through.

Like the rhyme says… I will scream for ice cream… especially Davinci’s homemade Peanutella… YUM! I had the pleasure of meeting the owners of Davinci’s at the ZOOlander event in August. We were so impressed with their selection we invited them to be a part of Unilocal’s Ultimate Picnic Party over the labour day weekend. They came with so many flavors that I had to keep sampling and I’m not complaining! The chocolate flavor had been handmade that morning and I probably would have eaten the entire tub if I could have. Tip: ask the staff which flavors pair well together. Like coconut and raspberry. It’ll be a real treat for your tastebuds!

yuuuummmm! Got to finally try these guys out at the Unilocal Picnic Party and wow. I had the stratacciella which was the best i’ve had. So creamy and rich. We also tried the peanutella which tasted just like a reese’s cup. They have lots of flavors to choose from, mostly the standard like Mango and Mint. The prices are very comparable to other places around town and definitely worth it. The staff were wonderful and proud of the amazing product they have produced. I wish I worked in an area that had more of these food trucks around!

Um… Yeah. If you haven’t tried Da Vinci Gelato, you are missing out! You’ve seen their truck all around town(think Farmer’s Markets like the St. Albert Farmer’s Market) and they are now being featured in restaurants like Vivo in Edmonton. The fabulous owner of Da Vinci Gelato custom creates and makes the batches from scratch locally in St. Albert! Check out their website for more info: Most recently, I had their gelato at a PIcnic in Edmonton and the whole fam jam was blown away with the quality. Usually, my son who has a dairy allergy misses out on desserts or only has maybe one option — but not with Da Vinci Gelato! They had not 1, not 2, but 3 dairy free flavours that were delicious and creamy if you can believe it! You can really taste the fresh ingredients like strawberries, mint leaves, or tart lemon in their gelatos! I really cannot say enough good things about this company! See you soon at St. Albert Mall or the Farmer’s Market!

Get in my mouth! Seriously… I am such a fan of Davinci, it’s not even funny. They came out to Unilocal’s Ultimate Picnic Party and I couldn’t imagine a better way treat myself! It was nothing but smiles from the two serving us. I tried the Peanutella(peanut butter and Nutella) and my husband had the chocolate. Ohhhhh yum. We even came back for seconds! I tried out the Mango, and the husband had Vanilla. Smooth, creamy, fresh, and big flavors. I will for sure make the trek to St. Albert for this, or whever Davinci may go. I am hooked!

I haven’t had gelato this fresh since I was in Rome! Oh man! I tried three flavours at Unilocal’s Ultimate Picnic Party(because why not?!), and loved all three. Mango and Coconut were the first to go, and then I rounded it off with Lemon, which was my FAVORITE! Oh man, the tart lemon bite was just right. So good! If I wasn’t so uncomfortably full, I would have tried more. I’ll have to stalk them and try another day!

Hey, Bada Bing, Bada Boom. Just like in the old country, a smooth and creamy dessert carefully hand crafted with love by an Italian angel. Talk to anyone behind the counter and if you can’t feel the pride they have in their work, I’ll send you an apology. That’s how much faith I got in dem. You hearing me? So go there, tell them you’re a friend of mine and they’ll take good care a yous. All a yous. Capiche? OK, cliché aside, the Gelato flavours are their own. They are unique and made in small batches. Try the Peanutella, peanut butter… Wait for it… ANDNUTELLA! Hyuk! The Stracciatella was actually like a cloud laced with dark chocolate shavings. Mango was sublime. Lemon was sweet and perfectly tart. Chocolate was robust and the mint was clearly intended for refreshing a delicate palate with subtleties in their flavours that elevate Gelato to a new level. Almost expecting to receive this on a small plate with a sprig of mint and a fanciful drizzle of coulis, a simple syrup and wine reduction, or compote à la Iron Chef. The flavours are there. Go, enjoy. Take your time. This is slow food. Boom. Now your mind is imploding.

Creamy, delicious goodness made from scratch? Check! Yummy flavours– I’ve tried both the straciatella and coconut, and honestly I couldn’t put the spoon down. Davinci even offers several lactose free options, so no one is excluded. The people working at Davinci are very friendly and passionate about gelato. The prices are well worth the quality product– $ 4 for 1 scoop, and $ 7 for 2 scoops. Be sure to track down Davinci’s truck at various farmer’s market locations. Their gelato can also be found at Leva. They even do catering. I will be back soon!
