Bazille

Bazille has an amazing drink menu and bartenders that know what they are doing! If you want a real old school cocktail, this is the place to be! The New York Sour is my favorite drink on the menu and I visit often just for this. I also highly recommended the Calamari, Mac & Cheese, and Hummus appetizers. I have yet to order a full meal at Bazille, but trust it would be excellent based on what I’ve had so far.

Ottawa is one of the first cities where Nordstrom has launched in Canada. Ever since it opened, my hubby and I visited a number of times to see what they have and every time we’ve visited, we told ourselves that we would try Bazille since it had great reviews everywhere. Last weekend, we finally made a lunch reservation and decided to see what the great reviews were all about.
What hubby and I liked about their menu here was that they provided the number of calories for each menu item. We’re not always counting calories nor are we health freaks, but it was a nice change to see them on the menu and make healthier choices. We were pretty surprised with the calories on some of these items! It seemed really easy to go past the recommended daily intakes…
Anyway, we got the Warm Asian Glazed Chicken Salad ($ 13.95 — 659 Cal)
and Bistro club served with basil french fries and kalamata olive aïoli ($ 13.95 — 1229 Cal).
We skipped the drinks and opted for fresh water for lunch as we were going to go hiking after our meal.
We were seated at one of their booths and had very attentive service. Our waiter was extremely nice and constantly kept checking on us throughout our meal which we very much appreciated. I didn’t get to take any photos of their restaurant overall but it had a very nice, warm atmosphere and they also had a patio I believe if you preferred. We opted to stay cool inside, but if you love being outside, make sure to check out their patio!
When our food was brought, we automatically thought that the two breadsticks sticking out from our salad were wooden chopsticks. Us being Asian… it’s the first thing we think of! Some careful inspection later, we realized they were breadsticks: D and laughed at our assumption. The salad was quite delicious; with the numerous textures and Asian dressing, we loved the salad. The size of it was pretty generous as well — more filling that we thought!
The Bistro Club was very delicious as well. I loved the aïoli and the club sandwich was very well made! With sliced turkey, bacon, tomatoes, lettuce, crispy green beans, and avocado, it was one of the best sandwiches I’ve eaten in awhile. I loved the green beans in my sandwich because I hadn’t expected it, but it made the sandwich overall much better because it provided the crunchy texture. The fries were oh so good… I have a very soft spot for fries and can never stop eating them. They were seasoned with freshly chopped parsley so even without the aïoli they were delicious.
We skipped dessert — I mean, after eating 1229 calories, I didn’t really want to consume any more! Overall, our casual lunch at Bazille was a very good one, and we will definitely be back when we want to eat at Rideau Centre. This restaurant is a great addition to Rideau Centre overall because the only other options are the food court and The Shore Club at Westin. Both are still very good options, but if you want something in between, Bazille at Nordstrom fits that slot perfectly. It’s perfect for a bite to eat while you shop so if you’re interested, grab yourself a spot!

Bad service and mediocre food at Nordstrom prices. I had to ask for everything from water to utensils to water refills. My food was delivered while I sat waiting for a napkin, fork, and knife. Didn’t receive them until I asked for them from the server. A guy, who appeared to be the manager, asked me about the quality of my food in passing as I was taking the last bite. I was hungry, went to Nordstrom because I wanted higher-​quality dining but got the equivalent of a food court experience at twice the price.

I’m impressed!
When my wife suggested we try the restaurant in Nordstrom’s I must admit my expectations were low.
Well… It was pretty awesome! I had the seared tuna salad and it was very good. Actually incredible. The tuna was done exactly right and the dressing was perfect. I highly recommend this dish.
My wife had the cilantro lime shrimp salad and said it was very good as well.
This restaurant is way better than anything else in the Rideau Centre food court.

I came here during a business trip wanting to see if I can find poutine in addition to other regular items I’ve seen at multiple Nordstrom cafes in the US. They have poutine! Better yet, with steak! Although the steak was cooked beautifully, the gravy was too salty for me.
However, the Ahi Tuna Salad was amazing! It has at least 10+ ingredients but all of them were perfectly prepared and worked together perfectly! I highly recommend it.
Service was slow but given it’s lunch hour and they seemed to be really trying, it didn’t bother me too much.
