I would like to review Save On Foods located in a strip mall in Columbia Square New Westminster. This place is next to Pharmasave, Burger King… etc. so not to be mistaken by other Save Ons located near that area. I like this place in particular, about the sanitation of food handling. They have a sushi counter and sandwich counters as well as soup. The staff for this area work just behind a glass partition between customers and their kitchen. They wore gloves and hats, aprons and their counters are clean, wiped out of every piece of food residue. The counters are white and you can tell you’re safe to eat the food here. Their sushi packs are reasonably priced and their sandwiches and other contained food as well. They sell soup also well kept. If you are always on the go, like I am and needs to eat anytime, this place will not land you with stomach ache in the doctor’s clinic. They prepare their sushi early in the morning and they keep replenishing their stock fresh. Their grocery prices are quite expensive compared to other groceries but if you’re buying a bulk of groceries, the price will par out with the cheaper grocery stores. They have very friendly staff.

I never thought I would write a 5 star review for a grocery store, but yet here I am. This Save On Foods is bright and well laid out. It’s located in Columbia Square, right beside Bosely’s(and not far from the BC Liquor Store). For the most part, the prices are reasonable, especially if you have a More card(it’s free to sign up for one. If you sign your card up online, and you forget to bring the card on your next visit, you can give the cashier your phone number to still take advantage of the discounts and earn points). What makes this location so fantastic though is the staff. The staff are all friendly, personable, and willing to help you. I’ve been in aisles before, clearly confused on where something is, and a staff member has come up to me(on more than one occasion) and asked if they could help me find something. The other day, my fiancé was shopping here and had his hands full. A staff member came up to him and asked if he could get him a basket. My fiancé said yes, and sure enough, a few minutes later the staff member came back, basket in hand. The staff member actually apologized for taking«so long» and explained that he helped someone else while getting the basket. Seriously, great service! Another great thing about this location? The lines. Or the lack thereof. On weekends, it seems that all checkout lanes are open, and the staff are efficient and get you through the line quickly(when you enter the store on busy weekends, they even have someone at the front who will hand you a basket if you need one). I generally do my shopping on weeknights, after work. I find with other grocery stores I’m still waiting in line for quite some time, despite it being a weekday. Not here! There might be two people in front of me, at most. But wait. There’s more! The cashiers are also fantastic! I appreciate the small chitchat they make. They always ask you how you’re doing and ask if you found everything you’re looking for. They’re all very friendly and have a smile on their face. Thank you Save On Foods for actually making grocery shopping a pleasant experience!
