i hate giving a 1 star review but i ordered 2 burgers here and had to throw both in the garbage. the pluses… used an entertainment guide coupon which saved me 7 dollars… and the clerk was trying to close early but stayed 5 – 6 mins so i could get my food. the negatives… even with the coupon i was still paying 14 dollars so definitely a very expensive burgar. i like the option to customize and used it to ask for onion rings and blue cheese on my burger but the rings i got were a negative and the blue cheese was unnoticable. the bun was the worst bun i can remember in the past decade. the meat tasted like it had no seasoning at all. the second burger i ordered for my wife. to be fair she didnt ask me to bring her home anything. i asked her to try it since she loves a&w mozza and i ordered her a burger with same agreedients. she struggle through 2 bites and refused to eat more. i tried her burger after i threw mine in the trash… but it had all the same problems. im guessing i tried these guys on the wrong day. they were closing early. perhaps the cook had some issue on his mind he had to get too? throwing 14 dollars of food straight into the trash isnt a good thing though. a restraunt has to do better even if they are having a bad day. i looked forward to trying these guys for over 3 years and it was my biggest food disappointment since i moved to edmonton. sadly it was so bad i cant see myself giving them a second chance.

Best chicken burgers every. So juicy and freshhhhhh gotta go again. I Ordered the Cajun chicken. The wait time could be little longer depending on the day of week and hours. It’s like getting burgers of dine in restaurants for the price of self serves. I cannot get enough of their milkshakes. I have literally never ordered a burger without a shake. Try their yam fries too. It’s very good location considering a day of shopping at south common is a lot of work and calls for a nice burger at the end of the day. Ha ha

GREAT spot for a custom burger! The customer service is always pleasant; seems like the owner is there or very closely connected with his staff. For a custom burger, it’s priced really well. I like the patty to bun ratio; it’s not over-loaded with toppings, just the perfect amount. They portion the sauce well too. Try the curly fries!

Been going to Burger Joint since it opened. Never got bored of the burgers. Always made me full as I am a heavy eater(bulking season all year!). The best part are the curly fries. This place is known for their amazing curly fries! Highly recommended

It took me a while to visit this burger place but let me tell you the burger that I had was great! The flavor was perfect, I ordered a blue cheese burger — beef, blue cheese, corn, onion ring, purple onion, lettuce, tomato & blue cheese dressing! + a side of curly fries. The different thing about this place is that you can customize your burger with a check list that can be found on each table or you can order one of the suggested burgers from the menu. As per today, you can make it a combo for $ 3.99 extra(Pop and fries) The place is kind of small but can seat 20+ people. The cashier was really friendly and the food got to our table fairly quick, what it’s appreciated as we went there during our lunch break. I think next time I will be adventurous and order a customize burger or try either the double cheese — double mushrooms burger or the sunrise chicken!

Another solid burger joint!(Pun intended) The burgers were so good and the curly fries were crispy and fresh. The prices are pretty standard for your normal ‘gourmet’ burger place — my meal came to about $ 14 with tax. Some may think that’s high, but it filled me right up. Great value in my books!

Definitely one of my fave burger spots. I love building my own burger, I love their curly fries, I ESPECIALLY love the dipping sauce that comes with the curly fries(what it is escapes me but it’s freaking good). Build your own burger, indulge, repeat.

Burger Joint reminds me of the restaurant at home called Burgatory; both places give options of various burgers, toppings, sauces and sides to create a customized burger. Burger Joint is more on the smaller side but still offers a lot of ingredients to design your own burger. I chose a jerk chicken burger and added all of my favorite toppings to it– bacon, dill pickle, banana peppers, pineapple and honey mustard. The bacon was especially delicious. I try to avoid potatoes but the curly fries were just too crunchy and yummy to pass up. My husband liked the curly fries too but was disappointed that the restaurant didn’t carry gravy.. .or ice. We had fountain drinks but there was no ice dispenser. Other than that, the food was pretty good. Customer service was satisfactory.

I’ve been wanting to try this place for a while and it was worth the wait… I went with my daughter and we both customized our burgers to the max! And, got the combos. It was a fun night out for sure. She got the Buffalo Chicken Burger and then added blue cheese dressing and 7 other toppings. I got the Veggie burger and 9 other toppings! Most toppings are free but premium toppings, including cheese, range in price starting from 75 cents and go up from there. But really including the CURLYFRIES(and who can resist those?), drinks for both of use, HUGE customized burgers, our meals were under $ 30. Still fairly reasonable nowadays. I was so impressed with the presentation(sorry I was starving I guess and forgot to take pics!). The fries came out in a great little cone with homemade tarter sauce and ketchup. There was so many we needed up with a little take away container of fries in the end. And, then there was the burgers. OK. Maybe, we went a little overboard on the toppings? Just maybe. They were HUGE. But, we had so much fun and they were so yummy. I was a little apprehensive about the veggie burger — soya and mushroom but it was fantastic. So filling. They also have a menu with some amazing pre-made burgers on it for when you just want to order something that sounds really great. I can’t wait to go back and try some of the pre-made burgers now… I was so excited to customize my burger that I didn’t even see that part of the menu until I had ordered! BJ’s is in a small strip mall on the south side, locally run which I like. I’ll definitely be back!

I got a burger from this place once. It was the worst tasting burger I’ve ever had in my life. The meat tastes really funny. Didn’t enjoy it. However the rest of my enjoyed it. Maybe it was just my butler that sucked. One will never know. I’ve been there once and don’t plan on going again.

We had high hopes for this place but we found the burgers just average. Here you can custom order your burgers with whatever you want on it. I had a pretty standard burger with swiss, lettuce, ketchup, mustard, mayo and to add a bit of a twist-roasted corn. The buns were average-a little too big for my liking. The taste of the burger was pretty good but again, nothing too special. Not sure if we’ll be back for a second round. There are so many other better options out there.

I like The Burger Joint as it’s a local business, close to my home and it makes unique burgers. Try one of their signature burgers or customize their own. I had heard many good things about the Lamb Deluxe Burger, and decided to give it a try. Lamb, feta, lettuce, tomatoes, purple onions, green olives and tartar sauce. I could have done without the olives, but the bun, patty and other ingredients were fresh and tasted great together. I thought the lamb was maybe slightly overcooked, but overall a decent burger. My favourite part were the curly fries. They were perfectly seasoned and cooked. The sauce on the side(?herb mayo, ?aioli) was a nice addition. I will definitely be back for more curly fries, and probably to try another signature burger.

Out running some errands we decided to ask Unilocal to see what there was to eat in our general location(south common). It was decided that we would pop by The Burger Joint. I am so glad we did! I had never heard of the place, but I highly recommend it. It’s pretty new and trendy inside, and has many tables. You go up to the counter to make your order(they have a menu of burgers, or sheets of «make your own») Hubby and I decided to do the«make your own». I figure if the burger sucks, it’s kind of our own fault. I got a single 7oz beef patty, ketchup, mustard, red relish, lettuce, bacon, marble cheese and onion rings on it. Also, I decided to make it a combo with curly fries and a drink. The husband had a 7oz lamb burger with ketchup, mayo, bbq sauce, bacon, mushrooms, blue cheese, mozza cheese, cheddar cheese, and white onions. He also made it a combo with regular fries and a drink. Hours later, he is still raving about his burger. I couldn’t even finish mine, plus the fries. The burgers were beautifully presented, tall, fresh, hot and flavorful. The fries came in cute containers and both had a side of ketchup and a side of herb mayo. Really hot, and very fresh. The fries came out first because they were cooked first. I think it’s great that they didn’t have to sit around. The staff were exceptionally nice, and the price was decent. $ 30 for the two of us, so roughly $ 15 each. Go try out The Burger Joint. I know I’ll be back there.

Solid burger joint. I’m a vegetarian and the burger was good. Not the best I’ve had, but top 10. Completely customizable at fair prices. Family friendly, fast food in a relaxed and quiet atmosphere. Not corporate like a Fatburger, etc. Get the curly fries, they were great. Many places have over seasoned, or undercooked, or overcooked fries. They were perfect here.

I had to go to Home Depot to get some supplies that I discovered I’d need for a recent job in Leduc. Being so close to South Edmonton Common I thought I’d have lunch at the Burger Joint. I had a lot of places to try in my bookmarks but time did not permit sadly. I didn’t get to go anywhere near Whyte Ave and I didn’t get to try many places I had hoped. It was a short trip and instead of going to the city I was lucky to instead make plans to see a friend instead. The Burger Joint would be the only bookmarked place I’d get to visit but I was happy to eat a nice relaxing sit down lunch. This strip mall just north a bit from all the big box craziness is quite the busy place. This U Shaped strip mall’s parking lot was packed just after 1230pm. The Burger Joint seemed quite busy inside, being lunch hour there are a handful of tables to select. On each table is a thick pad of custom checklists on a clipboard. This is so you can custom make your burger. From what I could make out this place is not a chain and this is a standalone business. The checklist menu reminds me a bit of the customization I’ve seen at places like BRGR and Burgatory both in Pittsburgh. You pay at the register and order, pay and then your order is brought to your table. While I didn’t see a choice of type of bread(just normal bun or sesame), there is a selection of meat from beef, donair, lamb, veggie, and a variety of chicken styles(buffalo, grilled, breaded, jerk) as well as sauces, condiments and for an additional charge a variety of premium toppings for an additional charge(variety of cheeses, ham, calamari, guacamole, fried egg, bacon and portabello mushroom). Additional toppings are value priced. No premium toppings are more than an additional dollar each. The free toppings such as tomatoes, a selection of different peppers, pickles and other toppings to select from is a long list. Basically you get to customize a burger but if you’re lazy to do so they have some pre-made selections to choose from as well. I went with the BJ burger which was 7oz beef, lettuce, tomato, purple onion, white mushrooms, pickles, bacon, mozzarella, and south west chipotle sauce. I have to say that the BJ burger was really made well. The veggies of which I don’t usually think too much of were absolutely fantastic. The veg was VERY fresh and the burger was well dressed. The veg were so fresh I think they complimented the burger so much that I almost forgot about the burger… almost. The burger was just short of a half pound patty. It’s big, satisfying and juicy. The cheese and bacon addition for me are almost a must and really complete a burger. The chipotle sauce wasn’t spicy, it was sweet more like a BBQ type sauce but it was tasty. The bread was slightly toasted and it really made the burger near perfect. I ordered a combo so it came with fries and I selected a bottled water as my drink. The fries were really fresh and hot. They came with a side of ketchup and a small side of another sauce of which I wasn’t familiar but I ate it and I liked it too. The only regret I have for the Burger Joint is I could only eat one burger. I wanted more but I was full. I really want to return to try more choices and maybe I’ll be less lazy next time and make my own customized burger of which I am no stranger. This place is a solid 4* in my books. I’ll definitely return given another chance. I don’t come too often to Edmonton but this place is now on my burger radar.

Great Burgers! I’m not a huge burger eater but this place is great. My sister who is a vegetarian and myself who’s an ex veggie was impressed by the unique tasty burgers. I had the chicken burger and my sister had a veggie burger, we shared the curly fries. All was superb. I recommend trying this place, the seating is not overly comfortable but it does have a nice simple look. Parking is not ideal when the businesses around are busy otherwise catch it on a good time.

After moving from Halifax to Edmonton almost a year ago, we were surprised Edmonton hadn’t trended toward the fad of «gourmet» burger places that Halifax had seen major growth in over the last two years we lived there. Most of the Halifax places were average at best, but it was great to have variety(there were at least half a dozen independent gourmet burger places that opened in Halifax over that time frame, many of which spawned a second location). That’s not to say there wasn’t quality burgers in Edmonton — we’ve definitely had a few. But going to an indy place where you can build your own burger with great beef, toppings, etc. seemed hard to come by. That was, until this past week when we finally decided to try The Burger Joint — a place we’d driven by a good 30 times previously on our way to Costco. When we arrived, there was a good amount of people in the place, which is somewhat small and relatively cramped in a strip mall on 23 Ave. They have several signature burgers listed on their menu board, but we opted to create our own using the checklists available on each table. This is especially a nice option when your wife is very picky about toppings and sauces on pretty much any food known to man. The Burger Joint offers a variety of types of patties to suit virtually every taste — 7 oz. beef burgers, lamb, grilled chicken, buffalo chicken, breaded chicken, jerk chicken, donair burgers and a veggie option. I opted to go with a double beef burger, with lettuce, mushrooms, mayo, mustard, ketchup and jalapeño cheese. I also ordered a combo, with curly fries and a drink. My wife ordered a single beef burger with banana peppers, pineapple, red relish, mustard, ketchup and jalapeño cheese. She had a combo with drink and regular fries. Total, it set us back about $ 28. The food was made to order and served in a reasonable timeframe — about 7 – 8 minutes and there were several orders taken right before us. The burgers were very good. Mostly nice and juicy with a little crisp on the outside. The curly fries were a great addition, as were the sauce that came with them(they also came with ketchup). The regular fries were undercooked, but the flavour was decent. They also offer a number of flavoured shakers for your fries. The pop machine had no ice maker, which was a bit odd. The drinks we both had did stay cold the whole time, however, so their machine must be decent at keeping drinks cold even without ice. Bathrooms were modern and clean. All in all, we’ll definitely be venturing back there soon when craving a good burger again.

As a big fan of the humble burger, friends insisted I come and try this place while I was in town. Totally worth a visit! There’s no fixed menu, you build your burger exactly as you would want it. And boy was mine good :)

This place is so close to home, I think I’ll try walking there next time! There’s nothing wrong with 3 stars. It’s pretty darn good. My favourite thing here is the dipping sauce for the curly fries. The fries themselves are darn good too. I love the toasted buns for the burger and the ingredients always seem fresh. I’ve read reviews complaining about the size of the patty, but I honestly haven’t noticed a problem. I always leave full and with a smile on my face.

I enjoyed my meal at the burger joint… I got the burger they named after themselves because I figured it would be their best burger. I should have just built my own burger though. It was a pretty average burger in every way. If I could go back in time I would have got onion rings on my burger because while I was sitting there they served another customer onions rings in their burger and it looked awesome. The French fries need work. I grew up on chip truck French fries, so I always wonder why real restaurants can’t cook a fry as good as the old man in the double decker bus in my home town. I don’t know their fry preparation techniques but it seems like they are only frying them once because they are cooked but there is no crunch, just kind of soft all over. I doubt I would go back because I am having too much fun following bacon hounds burger odyssey.

Forget those high priced favs Delux and The Burg, because this is the best burger place in town. Located in a strip mall near the south-side Costco, this little independent is serving not only the best, but the most creative burgers around. Seriously, make a trip here. I have had a custom burger with their great homemade sauces and tried the blue cheese burger last time(sorry i forget the name). Both were simply spectacular. Meat had flavour from a nice char and the onion bun was perfect. The pickles were so good. In fact each component was good. I have been lamented the closing of the Fulton Market burger place in the Park, but this is a worthy replacement. I only lament it is so far from my house.
