Best ice in the world, well at least when their ice maker goes on vacation and they need ice to keep drinks cool. Being cool is what moxies is all about. What is the coolest is how moxies is helping keep our economy going by supporting the local ice company, Columbia Ice. Moxies ROCKS!

Nachos were amazing per usual, remember to ask for layered cheese. Chocolate Volcano desert comes with dry ice and is fun to play with. Only downside of this visit was our glasses remained empty the entire hour we stayed after paying our bill.

Moxies has always been a favorite restaurant of mine. Myself and 2 of my girlfriends went here for lunch this past Sunday and overall I was just not impressed. We sat in the lounge and our server just seemed generally unimpressed. Don’t think it had anything to do with us, but she just seemed like that was the last place on earth she wanted to be. No smiling, no engaging conversation, nothing. I ordered the chicken souvlaki which is something I get at restaurants quite frequently but had never had from Moxies before. It was awful. I’ve never had a bad meal at Moxies but this wrap was completely tasteless and bland. I had 2 bites of it and then maybe ¼ of my little bowl of fries. That was it. Now I understand I ordered this meal. I understand that completely, but I just felt like it would have been amazing customer service for the server to see that I only had a couple bites, that I obviously did not enjoy it and perhaps comp my meal. I get they don’t HAVE to do that whatsoever, it just would have been greatly appreciated. She did not; she asked if I wanted it boxed up, I said no, and she said okay and took my plate away. I was just a little disappointed. Both in the service and that particular meal.

This Moxies has some nice décor and a decent amount of parking. It can get quite busy and sometimes the service at the front door suffers even during non peak hours. The dining room, lounge, and patio are all enjoyable. Service at the table is usually quite good and the servers are attentive and eager to please. I’m not a huge fan of the appetizers at Moxies, but the med bread is nice and the sushi cones. There are lots of good mains. The steaks are generally quite good but they got rid of the mash potatoes :(. The side vegetables can be hit and miss in terms of being edible or flavorful. The turkey club is quite good, as is the blackened chicken sandwich. There is not a large dessert menu, but they are not bad. This Moxies offers a nice atmosphere, generally good service, and usually above average food for decent prices.

Went to the lounge section for lunch. I had a sirloin steak with the stuffed baked potato and seasonal vegetables. The service was very pleasant and fast. The steak had too much salt on it, but that is my only complaint from the whole experience. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the tv’s in the lounge area were great to catch the hockey game on.

Mmm Moxie’s! Friday GT’s! So delicious! I wasn’t very hungry myself from a busy wedding week of eating, but my family was famished and we all wanted to grab a bite at South Common. Having been at this Moxie’s before we knew the service and food would be good. And we wanted to show our cousin from the UK a good place too. She was absolutely amazed as soon as we walked in the place — she loved the décor and the layout! I remember her saying«Now THIS is a proper place.» Hehe, it’s how we roll! We were quickly and promptly greeted and showed to our table. Our drinks were brought promptly and all was delicious. The family ordered some pasta dishes and the Moxie’s dumplings to start — DELICIOUS! Ok, so I did have a taste ;) This Moxie’s is always awesome — can’t wait to head back!

The food is great and the server was very friendly and polite. Try the dry ribs, it’s the first time I have had them where they are not greasy and they actually have flavour. The pot stickers are a really nice appetizer and the relish they use is very flavourful. The pizza was a little spicy, but it was full of flavour and not greasy. It wasn’t big and that’s ok. I feel that a meal should be satisfying, but not overfilling. Overall I would recommend this restaurant for a nice meal that’s reasonably priced.

Went today for drinks and appies. For a fairly empty restaurant it took about 20 minutes to get our food. The service was good though.

I brought my mom here for Mother’s day. I guess I probably should have taken her to Joey’s instead. We were going to go to the Keg, but it was an hour wait so we came here. I actually used to work at a Moxie’s restaurant, it was generally a nice experience, but not as much this time.(Although it wasn’t awful either) We started with mosaic dip, which was amazing, and the seared tuna appetizer. I felt the seared tuna had too many ingredients on top which were overpowering the tuna but that’s just my personal preference, my mom seemed to enjoy them. I had the chicken alfredo. It wasn’t bad, wasn’t great. I found it was a little skimpy on the sauce. My mom had a lobster butter steak, which she said was good. We also had the white chocolate brownie, we ordered them thinking they would be a LOT smaller than they were. We didn’t finish them. The brownies tasty good but lukewarm. The décor was decent and the service was good. One thing I do love about Moxie’s is their home Big Life beer. All in all, it wasn’t horrible, it was alright, but I doubt I’d bring anyone here again for a formal meal, though I might go by myself or with a close friend if hunger struck. Anyways, I find in my experience that Moxie’s is better for lunch than for dinner. They have a good parm chicken sandwich. :)

I always love coming to this location for brunch. It’s really the only thing I like about Moxies. I rarely ever go to Moxies for lunch or dinner. Not saying it’s terrible, but just not a place I go out of my way to eat at. It’s always really nice and quiet on Sunday mornings/afternoons in the lounge. A great place to just relax before the work week. Service is usually good. I’ve Never had any issues that I can think of that make me unhappy with any visit that I’ve had. All in all, I’d say go there for brunch and if you want to explore the other menu items, that’s your call.

I’ve always loved moxies. The food is good but the servers are rude. My steak was overlooked. She didn’t quality check for 15 minutes at least, by that time I ate both my sides. I didn’t mind waiting for a new steak. The manager did come over. My friend finished her entire meal and I had to wait an extra 10 mins after that to get my steak. Then eat when my friends plate had already been cleared. I expected to get a discount. I didn’t need my whole meal paid for. But instead they made me pay for all of it! Extremely displeased

Had lunch here last week with my sister. I had the roasted chicken, which was actually very good. My sister had a burger, which was dripping grease, and the patty of which was broken into 7 pieces when she opened the bun. I wish now that I had photgraphed it — why would a burger be in that many pieces??? She said it tasted okay. The reason for the low review is the overall FILTH factor of the place. Every surface we looked at was splattered and fingerprinted. I took photos and will see if I can post them. Major turnoff. Everywhere we looked, EVERYSINGLE surface, from the wine bottle advett. tag, to the bench backs, to the light standards, was photographically dirty. It was incredibly off-putting. If it’s THAT dirty in the public areas, what does the kitchen look like??? Even though the food was fine, I wouldn’t go back for that reason. Yuck.

Unfortunately, the love of fine food made from quality ingredients I acquired does not run in my family so when visiting Edmonton and say, ‘let’s go out to eat somewhere we don’t have in Califorina’ I end up at places like this. Now, I will say that they have done a decent job with the décor. It’s nothing new or interesting, but it is tasteful and the appearance of the restaurant doesn’t make me question what the kitchen looks like nor if the bathrooms should be avoided. I believe this is a chain restaurant as I know we passed other locations that looked like a carbon copy so again, nothing creative here. Food is pretty standard and very reminicent of the Cheesecake Factory in the US which also isn’t a very impressive restaurant when it comes to food. I had the Clubhouse sandwich which I have no complaints to issue but it was nothing to rave about either. Standard Turkey, bacon, lettuce, tomatoe, etc. Service was a bit on the annoying side. I may have dined here after a manager had a pep talk with the crew about being happy. It’s best when that’s genuine and not forced which is how our server came across. It’s great to have servers that engage with their tables but when they keep coming back with a really big smile and ask how everything is 4 or 5 times and try really hard to sound excited about everything we say, it’s a bit much. I will say she followed her training in making sure to suggest specific menu items at each phase –not just saying ‘would you like something to drink?’ but instead, ‘Would you like an iced tea, or a glass of wine?’ She also knew every salad dressing they had. I like asking that even though I always go with balsalmic vinegarette as I like to see if servers really know the menu. Didn’t bother with dessert. Nothing looked interesting. I did enjoy the company of my family though and we had a great time catching up. We can do that anywhere and hopefully the next time I come, it’ll be at a different restaurant!

To be honest with you, I only walked into this place because The Keg was full… And Moxies was empty. Not a good sign. The mojito was horrible and the entrée wasn’t any better. I can’t even remember what I had as an entrée, that’s how forgettable it was. I had grilled chicken breast with garlic mashed potatoes… My favorite part was the grilled asparagus on the plate. My chicken breast were dry and the mashed potatoes were ice cold. The waitress didn’t even know how to open a bottle of wine… Not a good experience.

It amazes me that this Moxies location can be so good, and the one just up Calgary Trail can be so bad! If you are looking for good food, make sure you go to this exact location! Moxies has become a favorite for my wife and I. Back in the 90’s we went to Moxies at Kingsway a couple of times and were shocked at how bad the food was. This turned us off to the point that when people started to talk about Moxies we were skeptical. Eventually my wife went there for one of her book club meetings and loved it. She drug me kicking and screaming in for dinner and I was hooked! My current favorite is the lobster and brie sandwich with fries and basil dip. The fries and dip don’t really do it for me anymore, and I am not sure if this is because the quality has somehow dipped, or if I am just getting bored. But the sandwhich is to die for! Other favorites are the Beef Vindaloo, and the Fish Tacos. Again, I had the Beef Vindaloo at the Calgary Trail location and it was terrible. It didn’t even have the same ingredients which I found to be a bizarre lack of quality control on the part of Moxies. We have also eaten at the West Edmonton Mall location and found it to be very good!

Well, tonight wasn’t my first time at this location, however, I have to say it may be my last. I was first greeted by a woman who was wearing a see-through top. Yes… only her breasts were covered, the rest was viewable to the world, which is always a good sign upon entering a restaurant, right? We sat down and were then served by a waitress in training, which I don’t mind. However, the service was incredibly slow. On top of that, their espresso machine was broken so after dinner coffee was not an option. The prices are much too high for the quality of food, and the descriptions on the menu are somewhat ambiguous and misleading. Overall, a meh experience.

I guess I missed the time in between Moxies being a «classic grill» with black and white checkered floors and bright red booths to the time that it changed into the classy asian fusion place that it is today. I do enjoy going here though. The last couple times I have been here I have ordered the calamari salad, which, honestly, sounded gross, but after eating it, I fell in love with it! This place isn’t too expensive and it is also usually pretty busy which is a good thing to see in a restaurant I do wish that the menu was bigger. I feel like there is not a ton of selection and pretty much everything on the menu has an asian feel to it. The other crappy thing about this place is that it is not good for groups. There is only one large table in this whole place and everything else is groups. So you are sort of screwed if you have large people in your group or a big car seat. Nonetheless, this place has pretty good food and the service is usually on the upside of mediocre.
