Erica, Jamie and Jill are the friendliest and most helpful bar keeps ever. Each night I’d ask for a dinner suggestion. Each night it was perfect. Not only beautiful but smart and know the area. Jamie wrote me up a list of things to do and see. Erica shared stories and Jill just makes you smile. If you’re in Dartmouth EATHERE. Hearty potions just good people. I don’t give compliments I just state facts.

So I’ve been meaning to write a review of this place since it opened. It’s been a few years now and I’d like to comment. First off, a pub in a retail area is a great idea. There are lot’s of people wandering and spouses who would rather sit and have a pint then watch someone try on the latest in foot fashion. It’s location is ideal. However, that’s where it stops for me. First off, I’ve drank my fair share of guinness. There’s a way to pour it, it involves a pause and then a finish. This particular pub refuses to pour it the way the importer(Diageo) and The Guinness Company’s founders would like it. They simple fill the glass and pass it to you. When asked why, they simply respond«too busy». Right. Second, the food. Out of the 7 time’s I’ve eaten there for lunch, it has come out cold. Potatoes — cold, soup — cold, fries — cold. Sent back to heat up, and guess what. Cold. Finally, the quality of ingredients. Be careful of the grilled cheese sandwich as it comes with bacon so fatty it should come with it’s own angioplasty kit. The device used to widen hardened arteries. I don’t like it this way and have to say haven’t met a bovine connoisseur that does. The problem is this pub would have been acceptable 10 years ago. Today though there are a dozen options within 15 minutes that do better. Just my opinion.

Great wait staff, great food, great atmosphere. The price is rather reasonable too. They always have some pretty good deals.

Beautiful bar ladies. Cold beers with a good selection in tap and in bottles and a fully stocked bar Red and Gill are the best. Extensive menu and tasty eats.

Hands down, one of the best burgers we’ve ever had(blue cheese burger & Guinness burger). Bun was a little soggy, but just because the burger was so juicy. We will be back when we’re in town again for sure.

I’m not one for pubs and the food they serve, but a friend’s birthday gathering brought Don and I to Seamus David’s this evening. Here’s the lowdown: Pros: — Our waitress was pleasant but very overwhelmed, as the pub was woefully short-staffed. — The nachos we shared were fairly good — not spectacular, but adequate. Cons: — The place was so short of things that it was painful to be there– short staff, food, etc. They were out of fish, beef, and several other items. — Our appetizers took a long time to arrive and were expensive. — After an hour’s wait, we inquired re: the status of our entrees. They were nowhere close to arriving. — Since part of our group was heading to the theatres after supper, we had to cancel our meals and get the bills. I don’t blame our poor waitress for any of this– she was clearly overwhelmed and embarrassed, apologizing profusely for the service and taking 20% off everyone’s bills(hence the two stars rather than one). Will any of us be back? Nope. And judging by the number of people who were leaving the place, neither will anyone else.

I’m looking at the Tommy Hilfiger Store on a 45 degree angle– that was the best way I could give directions to my friend I was meeting for a beer. I figured we would try something new since I was at Costco, and I figured it was local. While I waited for my friend and was warmly greeted by a nice Austrailian or possible Kiwi girl. I was poured a very nice pint of guiness and upon my friends arrival he had two pints of Canadian. Not eating, the server invited us back for wing night, which I mistakenly thought she said was Monday night. We returned Monday night under the premise of wings. My friend makes it clear that I was the one who was mistaken. It turned out to be buy one burger platter, get one for 5.99. My third dinner companion, who was late arriving, would be unfortunately purchasing a full price platter given the complicated math problem we were currently in. «I’m across from Costco, is this place by the CIBC?» He too was lost. To be fair I did tell him the name of the place was Seamus Oregans and his googling brought him nothing but car dealerships. The server was really good and helpful. She had worked at Jack Astors for 5 years and she knew what she was doing. The place was full in the upper part with what appeared to be regulars, always a nice sign. I asked who the owner was and she said she was just there with her son, Seamus. Its good to support local, and a family business too. I was recommened the Lamb Burger with Bacon and Guacamole, while my friend got the Guinness Burger with Onion Rings. She explained all the burgers were made in house. I am unclear as to what my other friend ordered as we were finished by the time he made it to the establishment. My burger was presented very nicely, check the pics, but I would have liked the bun toasted. As well, the tomato was a little unripened and the bacon could be improved by using a local smoked product. It really just tasted like buffett bacon. The burger was cooked very nicely and fries and gravy were very nice as well. My friend with the Guinness burger had no complaints, and said his meal was cooked very nicely as well. The onion ring which topped his burger looked homemade as well. This place has been open a year and seems to have a loyal following. I went there twice in three days so there had to be something which drew me back. I would say it was the service. Very kind and prompt servers who know the menu and what type of clientele dines at a place like theirs. Seamus David’s could use some marketing as its on the end unit of a low rise strip section of Dartmouth Crossing. Parking is across a street and a 200 ft walk, which is not a problem. Perhaps its people, me being included, not being familiar with business outside of the big box style in this park. Keep it up Seamus, I like your place.

The first time I came here my impression was; I’m Irish! This is an irish pub… I can’t contain my excitement!” Juvenile I know. The place itself is pretty nice, the only thing I didn’t like however was how crowded the place was. Ok, I don’t mean busy-wise… I mean, I think they put in waaaaaay too many tables for such a small place. I ordered the special Chicken Pesto Pasta. It was truly delicious! The service was good so I decided to return a second time. My second time though, I didn’t have such luck. The waitress seemed as though she was trying to get all the males attention and could care less about my mother, father & I. And the food we ordered(they sadly weren’t offering the special) just wasn’t good. Overall, I’ll go if they have the chicken pesto pasta as a special, but otherwise, I’d rather just pick up a sandwich at Subway.

I’ve been here a few times and my first visits weren’t very pleasant. Since then I find the service has increased, and the staff members are a lot more friendlier. Food to me is still basic for a pub but they are improving!

THEYHAVEFRIEDPICKLES. I think it’s only a «holiday thing», not that I know why those are seasonal, but still, that’s awesome. They’re one of my favourite bar snacks, going way back to when I was in university. Back when you could smoke in bars, drink $ 10 pitchers of draft, and play darts all night while eating things like fried pickles. We went for more of an adult dinner, which was satisfying to all involved, by the looks of it. I had fish and chips which were tasty, though the batter looked so dark I was expecting them to be burned/overdone. Despite the initial disappointment over the appearance, what actually mattered was how they tasted, and we were good there. My wife had the black and blue burger, and the impression I get was that it was good. The couple we dined with, well, I don’t remember what they had but I do know that we all left reasonably happy, and that the bill was reasonable for what we had. I can’t give five stars for a few little things, like packaged tartar sauce. Is making it fresh(or at least duping me into believing you did) so hard?!

I’m a sucker for an Irish Pub, even the ones not in Ireland. While we frequent Dartmouth Crossing for many items on a regular basis, we don’t typically tend to dine here. But, given the task of selecting a nearby location to our home for our first night with a paid babysitter and we figured we’d look for something in the area. Having heard about this Irish Pub I convinced hubby to go here and I was glad we gave it a try. Walking into the pub feels like most other Irish pubs I’ve encountered — the bar seems to always be the focal point and this one was no different. Towering nearly to the ceiling was a massive bar. The pub itself has a couple of levels, differentiated by just a few steps. There are lots of tables set up for 2 or 4 people and at least one large corner booth by the window for larger crowds to gather around. While we were there for dinner, I could instantly sense it was a fun spot to drop by for a pint and while it does seem like a very unlikely spot for a pub, I think that also sets it apart from others in that it is more of a destination and those who go there go there because they want to make the effort. We arrived shortly before 6pm on a Thursday evening and we were glad we arrived when we did. By the time we were pouring over our menus while sipping on a Stella draught the tables filled up and people were trying to find places to sit. I’m not sure if this is typical or not but we also noticed that Hal Bruce was playing that evening so perhaps they were there to have a bite to eat then enjoy the entertainment so arrived early to secure a seat. Our server was adequately attentive but didn’t ask us if our meal was okay which I found odd but she was in close proximity to us on many occassions serving other guest so I’m sure she assumed we’d flag her down if we needed her. I ordered the Emerald Isle Burger which was a lamb patty and while tasty, it was not the best I’ve had. It seemed a bit over done and maybe even a bit too crispy around the edges having been cooked on the same grill as other burgers as I honestly could not tell it wasn’t actually beef. It reminded me of going to a summer bbq in someone’s back yard and an uncle being in charge of the bbq only to render all burgers overdone and a bit charcoal infused. Hubby had the Philly Cheese Steak sandwich which he reported was good, not fantastic but still tasty but the thing he raved about was the fries. While they appear frozen at first glance they were home cut and something about them really resonated with him. Me, not so much. Then again, I’m not a fan of home cut fries. The atmosphere was jovial and relaxed and reminded me a bit of some of the pubs I visited in Newfoundland. The kind of place you could imagine being a regular haunt for a Friday«end of the work week» pint. While it may seem like a duck out of water because of its surroundings, don’t count it out if you’re in the area shopping. Typical pub fare, a good selection of beers on tap and a casual atmosphere everyone can feel comfortable in.

I pre-judged this pub based on the what I thought was a small menu selection. The food size my friends and I received was generous and not swimming in grease. I had the blue-cheese topped burger and a side greek salad — both were delicious! The service was fast and friendly. The washrooms were super clean and we were able to stretch out in the booth/table. Great restaurant! Great price for the portions.
