Believe it or not, this was our first visit to the Burnside Brewdebakers in probably a decade. And I have to say, I’m peeved at the owner. Mike and I are regulars at the Halifax location. That resto is falling apart. The booths need to be replaced, the lighting is too dim even on sunny days, and there is always a fruit fly hovering over your table. We still love the place, but it’s simply not kept up. Now, the Burnside location? Clean. Open. Well-lit. No fruit flies in sight. Well-upholstered booths. It appears money is only spent on this location. That said, we visited with the in-laws for lunch on a weekend. We arrived shortly after opening so it was pretty quiet. The server was friendly and helped the ILs decide. Food came in a timely manner and everyone enjoyed their lunches(sesame honey bowl, fish & chips, Tuscan sausage). Mike had the special: pulled pork pizza. He looooved it, and it looked great. Desserts? Are Sysco-type things that we don’t normally order, but are okay. Overall a very good experience. Too bad they’re letting the Halifax location run to ruin.

This place was really just average. The food was good but nothing I’d go back for really. The service was good and fast.

I’ve been to Brewdebakers more times than I can count and I usually have an OK time. Just ok. Not super fantastic not super awful, just… OK. And I can’t figure out why I keep going back. The menu is… ok. Not a HUGE selection, and it always takes me a long time to figure out what I want because nothing really grabs me. My husband always gets the Mr. Magee burger — which he loves because it’s just a huge amount of meat. I typically end up getting the nachos — which are quite delicious and certainly large enough to be a meal for 1 person. The caramelized onions are what really does it for me. My biggest disappointment with this place has to be the level of service. We were here last night and it was busy, but not overly packed. Our server came by and took our order and we got our appy in a reasonable amount of time, but our mains took forever. Hubby ordered the Magee burger and I had the sesame chicken bowl. Nothing fancy but we waited awhile. Once our server dropped those off at our table though, she never returned. She walked by us at least 20 times, checking on other customers and taking/delivering orders, but it’s like we were invisible to her. Our drinks were empty about ½ way through our meal but we never got an offer for a refill. We never in got the obligatory«how is everything?». We were a bit stunned. And disappointed. Once we were finished our meals I believe we waited an extra 30 minutes for her to walk by us once again and realize that we were ready to go. I was not impressed. This is typically a go-to spot for us when we just can’t decide what we want and we happen to be in the area, but I think I’ll be looking for another spot, even if I have to drive a few extra minutes.

Burgers are awesome! My husband and I enjoy going there at least once a week for a Sleemans and a burger. Have to start boxing up half the meal as I always eat way too much.

I don’t know why, as I get older, I’m moving away from having a big meal in the evening and going with a cocktail and some appetizers instead. It’s even better when shared with someone! Top shelf, Brewdebaker’s is! First off — THE most important part: their Caesars. Amy, our server, made an incredible Caesar. Just the right dash of Tabasco and throw in a pickled string bean instead of celery. If you go on a Monday or Friday, ask Amy to make you one of her Caesars! Next — the chicken wings. VERY good! There’s only one other place that makes any kind of Buffalo chicken wing that I like — and that’s Coach’s in Rosamond, CA. But I digress — Brewdebaker’s makes an excellent(not too hot, not too mild, not too much vinegar, not too much sauce — a true«Goldilocks» mixture) Buffalo wing. Of course, chase that down with a Caesar. While you’re their, try their house-made chips. These are basically their potato chips, only they’re made fresh and boy are they GREAT! So — Great drinks: check. Great food: check. Great wait staff: check. What more do you need?

Prices have always been great and they have appetizers 50% on sundays which is nice. Service has never been lack luster and I’ve always enjoyed my meals. If you’re in the area and don’t want anything too pricey give it a try.

While it’s not often that I’m jumping at the chance to hang out with friends in Burnside, I’ve had some good times and decent grub at Brewdebakers over the years. Other than its location, it holds its own for casual get-togethers or meals with larger groups — like East Side Mario’s, Jack Astors, or whatever… but a smidge better. The menu changes up pretty frequently but I’ve enjoyed pizzas, pastas, nachos, and my go-to for an afternoon of beer and greasy food: the beer-battered onion rings. They’re top notch in my books. So basically, don’t come here for healthy things and you won’t be disappointed. Service here is a bit of a crapshoot. While I’ve almost always had pleasant, entertaining, and helpful servers, I know there has been a lunch or two punctuated by a server’s unwillingness to even dignify our presence with eye contact. But even then, drink up some of those on-site brews and it won’t really matter.

The mac and cheese with bacon is to die for. Go ahead, you can read the rest of the review when you get back from ordering the mac and cheese. The food was all around good and service was prompt and polite. The atmosphere was OK and the place was a bit empty since we went at off-peak hours.

Closed! This actually just happened, I called at 11:30am to book a table for 8 people at 12. The lady put me on hold and then came back saying ‘Can you come in earlier?‘ First off im calling for a reservation NOT to be told when to come in. First time i have ever had that happen. Second when i replied saying ‘Well i was making a reservation for 12, so we should be in there by 12′ She replied ‘Ok’ and i said thank you and she hung up with nothing. If i wasn’t making the plans i would have cancelled the reservation and gone somewhere else. They will not be having my business anymore. Not happy at all.

I love that they offer a flight of beer(beer sampler) as an option for drinks. Gives you a chance to try 5 different beers. The food is OK. Atmosphere is OK. I didn’t like the touch screens at some of the tables that flashed ads at you the entire time you are eating. Like we aren’t exposed to that crap enough, my dining experience was scared by those cursed monitors. They have huge booths that are excellent for larger groups if you want a place to meet, drink and chow down in pub food. The dining room was pretty clean, but the WC was disgusting.

After calling about 10 places in Dartmouth on a Saturday morning to make a reservation for that evening at 7:30(I know, I know, bad planning) we were finally able to confirm with this location. I was not sure what to expect as this place was on Windmill Road, and being from the other side of the bridge, I thought this area was sketchy(still not sure exactly where we were). I was pleasantly surprise! The location was quite big, very clean and nicely decorate. When the first half of our group showed up there was a table and chair missing from our reservation, and two of our members had to wait for that to be sorted(the place was packed and there seemed to be a lack of tables)/. I was worried at this point that things were not going to go well, as no one immediately attended to them and they were left standing. But within 5 minutes they were seated, and a little while later an extra table was found. I tried the spinach dip, it was okay. I had a mushrrom/swiss burger with kettle chips. The burger was tasty(nothing to write home about, but good) and I am happy I chose the kettle chips. I would really like to highlight that the service was amazing. Our waitress, Sarah, was very friendly and attentive. She was actually so smiley that when I first looked at her, I was scared, but it ended up turning into a fun night of banter with the waitress. She didn’t mess up any orders, the bills came, and she did not try to rush us out the doors(we ended up staying for 2.5 hours). And when asked if she had a candle for a birthday cake, she was very happy to help us out. Great work! I definitely left with fond memories!

We needed a dinner spot for our post-laser tag party, and after frantically calling +20 restaurants for a booking, I remembered this place was around and made the call. I’m actually glad everyone else was booked, because we had a great dinner here. The restaurant is large, with vaulted ceilings and lots of stained wood, giving it a warm feel. A row of windows at the back allows for a view of the vats where beer is made. If you have a hankering for some brew in order to continue the party at home, you can pop into the cold beer store next doorm to stock up. Banquettes line the perimeter for cozy seating, and tables are scattered throughout and can be grouped to accomodate any size party. A stone fireplace sits in the centre, with its mantle full of brewery-inspired knick-knacks. Service was very good. They were good at accomodating our large group, even when we showed up with two more than what we reserved for. They were able to grab an extra table and chairs from storage so that everyone at our party could sit together comfortably. Our server was very friendly and served us with a big smile, despite our somewhat awkward table conversations. She made sure our drinks were refilled, and was very quick about getting the few items we needed. Even though we were a larger group, and the restaurant was full, we didn’t have too long a wait for our food. I had some of the spinach dip to start. It was creamy and cheesy, and I liked that it came with both homemade garlic mini-loafs and corn chips for dipping. However, I wasn’t a fan of the diced tomato in the warm dip. I ordered the Great White North burger, and subbed fries for loaded kettle chips; crispy fried potato chips loaded with cheese and green onions. The burger was on a fresh brioche-style bun, thick and juicy, with cheddar, bacon, and onions. The menu claimed they were caramelized onions, but they were only lightly fried. Still good, but I was disappointed because I was expecting a pile of golden-brown sweet onions. I also had the apple crisp for dessert, which was a slice of warm apple pie with a crumble topping, and a scoop of delicious ice cream. Spiced ginger cake and brownies were also enjoyed. All in all, it was a great spot for our large group, and I wouldn’t mind remembering to come back for dinner sometime with the boyfriend.

I’ve never had a bad experience nor bad meal at Brewdebaker’s. In fact, I’m kind of an ambassador for the hidden gem in the industrial setting of Burnside. Just a quick jaunt across the MacKay Bridge for those on the Halifax side and equally as quick to find from Bedford, it truly is a restaurant/pub with a great casual atmosphere and some really tasty eats. Service at Brewdebaker’s has always been very efficient and friendly and it is a spot you can go for a quick business lunch or take your family. I’ve even attended a Christmas staff party there. Staff is very accommodating for families with small children like my own and they usually even help out by carrying a high chair to the table for you if they see you already have your hands full with your kiddos. The menu is quite extensive and the biggest problem is trying to decide what to order. I’m a fan of the fish & chips but have also had the burger and my husband has sampled various dishes like the chicken Parmesan, ribs and meatloaf, all with rave reviews. They even do a great job on desserts, which you can check out in their showcase. The cheesecake is particularly divine so leave room for it.

Let’s just say they serve huge portions of a good quality meal for decent prices. Every time I’ve been here I’ve experienced extremely fast and friendly service. The restaurant itself is very large, great for groups and children. The«shipbuilders platter» offers a great selection of deliciously battered seafood; scallops, shrimp and haddock. I couldn’t finish it all. The fries are pretty good but I’m not a fan of their home made coleslaw. They always have specials. On Tuesday(night) you can get a burger, fries and a beer(Sleemans of course) for only $ 10.00; that’s a steal of a deal! oh, PS; the last time I was there they had a note on their door that said due to recent car break-ins in their parking lot do not leave any valuables in your vehicle… just an FYI.

I recently came here with my office(group of 14) for lunch. First thing you notice is the smell if they are brewing, it smells great if you are a fan of beer, but if your not beware. Our server was great and she did a lovely job of taking our orders quickly, and getting our drinks and meals to us as quickly as was possible for a larger group — she was also great at noticing if/when we needed refills. Food wise my experience was fairly meh, but to be fair, I think I just ordered wrong. I had the honey sesame chicken bowl. The chicken was breaded, and deep fried — it was well cooked, still tender. The sauce however tasted like bottled sauce a pub would serve on honey-garlic wings. The vegetables and rice that came with the dish were cooked well, but the vegetables were mostly bean sprouts. It looks like the better bets are the burgers and onion rings which both looked great. They were well received by everyone who ordered them. Overall, while it’s a not a restaurant that I would typically choose, I would raise no qualms over coming if asked, and would for sure get an order of onion rings!

Love this place! We’ve never had dinner there as we never get past the appetizers. We always get the same thing… everytime; SPINACH&ARTICHOKEDIP BEERBATTEREDONIONS CHICKENWINGS SESAMEVOODOOSTICKS And I always get the ‘Draft Sampler’. The appetizers we get are awesome. Great pub food that’s greesy, cheesy, delicious and just the way you want it. Only concern about this place is that it feels like I’m in a warehouse. Other than that, there’s no issues. The service is always quick and friendly.

I tried Brewdebakers the other week. Have such a good rep, I thought it would leave me wanting more. It was ok, everything came hot and in a timely fashion. Prices were average, running 12 – 15 dollars. The menu has some great pizza. This is a great place to book for large lunches, but for small groups I prefer a different atmosphere.

I called ahead for a take-out order at Brewdebakers today. I’d driven by a million times, but never thought of going in because let’s face it — traffic in Burnside is a killer, especially making a left-hand turn back out into lunch-hour traffic. However, I decided to risk it today and take an early lunch, picking my food up at Brewdebakers. I parked by the big sign and proceeded to try and find the front door. Turns out you enter under the Sleemans sign and not the Brewdebakers sign, which I found a bit odd. Once inside, there’s a hike to the front desk, past all sorts of Sleeman’s merchandise for sale. The place was dead empty at 11:30 am, but it could be that the lunch rush hadn’t yet hit. I wasn’t overwhelmed with the service, having to walk nearly to the back of the restaurant to pick up my food. However, when I got back to the office and opened up my parcel, I more than forgave the lackluster service. I ordered the Buffalo Chicken and Blue Cheese salad, with a side of sweet potato fries. The salad was out of this world — a generous bed of lettuce with many cherry tomatoes strewn overtop. There was a heaping helping of crumbled blue cheese mixed in with plenty of buffalo chicken pieces. Also in the mix was red onion, but I could have handled less onion, personally. The salad is supposed to be served with a chipotle ranch dressing, but I chose to have a blue cheese dressing instead. The sweet potato fries were served with a curry mayo dip that was out of this world. The curry was light and the may was sweet, a combination that made my mouth rock. The serving was a great size — in fact, I saved half for tomorrow. I’ve heard that the Clayton Park Brewdebaker’s isn’t all that. However, I’m here to tell you that the food at the Dartmouth Brewdebakers is awesome. I’m looking forward to trying some more of their menu suggestions!

Brewdebakers is an average size dining location located on Windmill road in Dartmouth. Booths and dining tables fill the room. We went there on day with the girls for a quick lunch and I ordered a burger and fries, boy I have to stop this. Burger was fabolus and fries nice and crispy. Prices were fair ran me about $ 15.00 and the service fast and friendly. This location is great for large group gathering but I do find it kind of out of the way.
