I would not recommend sushi garden as their service is horrendous and with my recent visit there, i got food poisoning! Our Korean server wrote down our wrong order and the wrong item ends up coming out. We told them that’s not what we ordered so they took it back, but immediately afterwards I heard our server bickering and complaining in the back about us. She even went as far as to talk about us with her co-worker who POINTED her finger at us. We lost our appetite instantly and will never go back. To top it off, I got food poisoning! Terrible experience, terrible food and unsanitary fish!

Good food. Good restaurant. But the worst customer service which ruins the whole experience. Better go to Tairyo Ichiba which is just few minutes away. My friend and I asked for chopsticks and we got stared down condescendingly like we’re weird or something. WTF? We gave 10% tip but realized we should have given not at all to express our dissatisfaction. Will never go back to this place.

Hands down the only sushi restaurant I will always make a trip to when I’m in Vancouver. The only downside about dining here is the lengthy wait. Always expect to be waiting for awhile(we waited about 40 mins for a table of 4). Aside from the strenuous effort to be patient, Sushi Garden is definitely worth every second of it. It’s also located right next to Cactus Club Café! While waiting for our table, we made a quick trip in and ordered a couple drinks which made the wait much more effortless. Sushi Garden’s Sashimi selection is always incredibly fresh and delightfully clean to the taste! Not only were they speedy with our orders, the waitresses there were very attentive to us despite the dinner rush! One of my favorite features of Sushi Garden are their generous sliced proportions of Sashimi. The Salmon pieces were out of this world! They were literally almost as thick as sliced steak; it was a Salmon steak. Needless to express any further, I was ecstatically happy and might’ve squealed a little when I witnessed the glorious sight of the generously fatty Sashimi pieces placed in front of me. Sushi Gardens’ rolls are incredible as well, especially the Spider Roll. The Spider Roll is definitely a must-try if you haven’t already. The soft-shelled crab tucked away inside folds of Seaweed and rice was fried to absolute perfection. The crab wasn’t too crisp and crunchy, but was fried just enough so as to attain that perfect line of crunchiness and savory softness of the crab meat. Expecting my wallet to cry out for help as I reached for it to pay the tab, I was surprised at how much I overestimated the price of our dinner. For the generous portions, Sushi Garden is definitely worth the money! After my delectable meal, I left Sushi Garden with my faith restored in dining at a restaurant that serves fresh and clean-cut Sashimi.

I was here with friends earlier today. Everything was fine until when we paid. We usually ask the bill to the table and to share it. Our total was $ 76, we gave them $ 100 and asked for $ 12 back all in coin so we could share them(we literally gave them $ 12 for tip). But when we left, one of the waitress dragged one of my friend back and asked if there was anything wrong because she didn’t see any money left back on the tray. My friend was being nice saying that nothing was wrong, but she gave my friend a bitchy look saying that«our total wasn’t included tip». TOTALDRAGFORTIP!!! I would include a pic of that waitress if I have it. I’ll try to take one next time. TOTALPISSED

WE visit this restaurant at least twice a month. WE come with the kids and we all love and enjoy the food. It is always fresh and delicious. The wait may be a bit of a deterrent so we sometimes come in mid afternoon for an early or late lunch. The service is fast and the food consistently good. We have our favourites: sushi gomae,.noodles with fish roe Mitaiko don,…the wild salmon sashimi is always fresh and big pieces and served nice and cold… and the Alaska role is made with a citrus sauce over it: YUM! For some reason this location has better tasting food than the other we have visited that is closer to us. Worth this ride and the wait…

WOW coming from California, these prices CANNOT be beat. The quality of the sashimi is quite high – beautiful, thick slices of salmon. I ordered the spicy tuna tempura roll – assuming there were flakes mixed in like most crunch rolls – but it was totally deep fried. Since I didn’t want cooked fish, I let them know and they were really polite in rectifying the situation. Wanted to try something different and went for the beef/pineapple roll as well. Totally random, but really brought me back to feeling like a Hawaiian experience. I ate with another guest for about $ 30! That is insane for sushi these days!

Great place for good quality, moderately-priced sushi. The reason for 4 stars and not 5 stars is that service could be improved. The person at cash counter spoke English with crude manner and told us to wait at the door with some frustration. I understand the place is busy but she could have spoken more politely.

Really good value. Bad service, bad to moderate food. Not worth the wait. If you enjoy volume korean sushi, this is the place for you. Food comes pretty quickly, good lunch joint if you want cheap food. But around noon it’s usually too packed. Go earlier or tad later.

Still the same! The first time I visited this restaurant was probably a good 8 years ago. Every single time I’ve been in the restaurant it’s always packed and you have to wait for a seat. The sushi quality has stayed the same over the years, no skimping on the sashimi, and no raising the price(if they did I didn’t notice). Their level of service has improved tremendously though! From older ladies to more efficient younger ladies. Still my favorite go to place for cheap, but good quality sushi.

I have this place on speed dial! Seriously, #6 on my phone. Always do take out because it’s hard to get a seat. Go to items are always the ½ order salmon sashimi, tuna roll, and a chopped scallop roll. Hit this place up after the gym for my protein fix for $ 15.

Wanted to try it out for so long, finally we came in today, because all the other sushi restaurants in this area are either closed on Sunday or not open until 4 or 5pm. The line up is huge, now I understand why, cuz it’s just sooooo good. Food is in big portion and super yummy. We ordered the seafood udon, spicy salmon sashimi, California roll, beef terriyaki roll, gomae, dynamite roll and salmon nigiri. YUMMY. Strongly recommend the spicy salmon sashimi.

I had to go to the dentist today which is literally the block over so I decided to grab some take-out on my way home. I ordered the roll combo($ 5.50) which was a california roll, 3 pc each of tuna, salmon and kappa, but I didn’t want the cucumber roll so I substituted that for another tuna roll without any additional charge. As well I ordered some spicy tuna sashimi($ 8.95) with the spicy sauce on the side because I wanted to be able to dip some pieces in the spicy sauce or soy sauce as I felt, and they put the sauce in a generous sized container. Lastly, I wanted a few more sushi pieces so I had to add in an order of alaska roll($ 3.95) and 2 pieces of chopped scallop nigiri($ 1.30 each). I have a pretty small stomach so for $ 22 total, I was able to make 3 meals out of everything which was a fantastic deal. The alaska roll actually didn’t live up to my expectations since it was falling apart, but still okay. The fish tasted fresh enough, and the tuna maki’s were very good. My favourite was the chopped scallop nigiri — they were so so good. I don’t know about other people, but I was extremely satisfied with it, I thought the scallop was fresh, mixed perfectly with the tobiko and the amount of scallop on top of the sushi rice was plenty. Nothing particularly bad about my take-out order. I was satisfied and it was a very very good value. I don’t know if I would have enjoyed it as much if I dined in as other peopled have mentioned their service is subpar, but for take-out, I’ll definitely order again.

Sashimi is always fresh!I always order spicy tuna and salmon sashimi, this time I try taco and yellow tail sashimi, which are delicious and fresh too. For the sushi roll, I like smoke salmon and cheese roll, which is special and amazing for putting these things together. Also, the crab and papaya roll is great too.

Sushi Garden seems like a Sushi Town knockoff to me… I mean everything pretty much is the same — the food, service and lineups. Rumor has it that some of the chefs from Sushi Town came and opened Sushi Garden up. Anyways, I’m not a big fan of eating in here because it gets really crazy and you cannot be at peace to eat your meal. I usually do takeout and enjoy it in the quiet and comfort of my bed and dog. Food must gets — anything spicy(spicy tuna/salmon sashimi), their chicken teriyaki and other entrees are pretty decent. The quality for the fish isn’t top notch, but you get for what you pay for. Also, it tastes good so it’s a win-win situation — good/filling food, cheap price. I usually go for the combos here so it’s easy and slightly cheaper than ordering the items seperately. The service here is pretty minimal, don’t expect anything. They’re super busy pretty much all the time and it’s a pretty casual and eat-and-get-out type of restaurant. Parking is a hassle since it’s on Kingsway — you might save time by parking at Metrotown and walking over. Not a good place for large parties or dates, you have been warned!

When you’re a Japanese food critic from Japan and you live in Canada, it’s hard to find a place that you would conditionally say is Japanese. Few and far between are there places that can fill this void and pass the test. I can’t say that Sushi Garden passes this test, but it does one thing right. The Toro is probably the best in town and for the price, it’s a hands down winner. If there is anything that I can say that really stands out here compared to all those other mockery of sushi places. It’s that this location has very good turnaround and that means the fish is always fresh. Sure it seems like they pump out the food like it’s Costco combined with McDonalds, Service is quick and polite — mostly. Food is affordable you can eat like a kind on a modest wage. And if you know the process on how to register your name, sit and wait to be called. You shall be rewarded. Happy tummy Happy wallet Happy wife… er I meant happy life… uhhh. whatever. My Japanese Food Critique says it was worth the trip to come all the way out here to dine and get her«Toro Fix On»!! Note to self. — Kitchen items VS the Sushi counter items. There is where the difference lays. Kitchen items — 3 stars at best. Sushi items — 4 stars or more depending on what you order.

This has to be one of the best deals in Vancouver. If you come during meal times be prepared for up to an hour wait! Also the local towing company makes a fortune towing people, so best to park in the roof parking. The food, the rolls are great, but the amazing thing is the sashimi. The pieces are huge, and very fresh. Totally worth a cross town trip for!

I can see why they are always so busy. The sushi is cheaper than some of the other sushi places around and their portions are generous. And I appreciate the fact that their rolls have less rice than lot of the other places. We had spicy salmon sashimi and that was our favourite. The sauce on the sashimi was mildly spicy and tangy. The same type of sauce that is used in lots of Korean sashimi dishes. The salmon sashimi chunks were perfect bite sizes. We shared seafood udon soup as well and the broth was very tasty.(Some places the broth just tastes like diluted soy sauce and this wasn’t the case here.) But expect to wait for your table. We were there around 2 and all the tables were full and we had to wait about 5 minutes for a table. You can park on the street but not during the rush hour.

This place, and its other sister restaurants, are the best place to get your ‘Bang for your Buck’ sushi. That being said, it’s not top notch sushi/sashimi, but for what you pay, it’s definitely worth visiting. Toro Sashimi: Roughly priced at $ 10, it is one of the best deals out there for toro sashimi. It’s not top quality, as you can tell by the sashimi’s colour, but it suffices. Spicy tuna sashimi: Again, very affordable and addicting! The spicy sauce is very addicting, and the crunchy cucumbers add a refreshing touch to the tuna sashimi. This is also available with salmon sashimi, and also in half portions. Maki rolls: The special makes are so huge that it barely fits into your mouth. It is incomparable to anywhere else! If you’re looking for something really special, I recommend the chi-chee roll, which is a maki that is oven baked with melted cheese on top. It is relatively hidden on the menu,(although it’s there!), but many don’t order it because of the name? Anyway, the roll takes an extra 15 – 20 minutes because it needs to be oven baked, but it’s worth trying, especially for those who can’t eat raw fish! :) Because of its amazing price, the restaurant’s service isn’t always on par. It is always busy, from the minute they open, and pretty difficult to get a seat right away. Be ready to write your name down at the cashier and wait for 30 minutes, as they don’t take reservations. Don’t come here expecting a top quality experience — it’s not that kind of a place. :)

I am a big fan of Sushi and this is one of my favorite sushi place to go to if I am in Burnaby. Portions are big. Its ran by Korean. Very consistence quality and quantity. However, it is quite busy and the lineup can be quite long at times. Service is ok because the waiter and waitress are too busy running around. They have combos but I don’t find them that great of a value.
