Starbucks

I’m surprised to see so many bad reviews for this one. I find the baristas to be fast and friendly as this is a busier location. Every time I’ve been in it’s been clean, nowhere to sit but clean. It’s not a huge location, and they have patio «lifers» as we used to call them at my sbux.

The customer service here is great — the Baristas are really nice and I’ve never had a bad experience with them. It’s too bad that the drinks have been continuously bad.
There must be some kind of issue with whoever it is that teaches their Baristas to make drinks, because I have had way too many from this location that have tasted watered down or outright like milk/​soy with a hint of flavor.
It’s a risk every time you order — their regular coffee seems to be OK and their Americanos are fine too, but the specialty drinks (not including the frappichinos — those have always tasted fine too) all taste like they’ve been made wrong. This is especially apparent with the matcha lattes. Either the baristas have been taught to make drinks with the wrong spoons/​measurements or someone in charge is cutting costs by stretching ingredients with water.
Always check the taste of your drink before you leave — it’ll save you a lot of pain.

Despite other reviewer state that this starbuck has a crazy atmosphere, i pretty much like it. Especially when they turn on christmas songs, it makes me feel cozy and concentrate on my reading. A quiet place like a library make me feel sleepy.
Back on the coffee side… the taste is quite bad. i have tried mocha, macha latte hot chocolate. They are not my favorite at all. The taste were weird. However i do love their swiss&ham bagel. It is the best so far.

I like this location, despite how crazy busy it can get (that’s a good thing for them anyway). The staff are friendly and it is relatively easy to get a coffee to go in a moderate amount of time. I would happily give this location 4 stars, but due to the cloud of smoke constantly billowing in front of my face and in the door from smokers. I think this location could do much better to contain the smoking area so that non smokers and children can walk within a few feet (NOT meters) without encountering a cloud of smoke. I think it is quite ridiculous that nothing is done about it. Sometimes it feels as though I’m back traveling in a 3^rd world country where smoking is regarded with the same ignorance as it once was here 30 years ago. That’s my rant. I know what you’re thinking and yes, I am no longer going to patronize this Starbucks.

Are all Starbucks the same? In this case most definitely NOT. Unfortunately because of the store design the interior is quite poorly laid out, so that in spite of a reasonable sized store they have not many seats. With a bit of thought I think they could of done a much better job.
Also the normal standard of service that I have come to expect at a typical Starbucks was sadly lacking here. There seemed to be a constant line up, but I think this was because of unenthusiastic staff, as opposed to a very busy location.
Generally also it was quite dirty, with overflowing garbage where you add cream and sugar, garbage scattered on the floor, and a washroom I wouldn’t use unless it was a complete emergency.
Best avoided.

Dont have much to add to what the other reviews have said. Not my fave Starbucks to go to, always packed with people inside and out. Service is hit and miss. This location is in my area so if don’t have a choice I get my coffee to go.

I’ve frequented this Starbucks a fair amount of late, and although I’ll continue because of proximity, it’s my least favorite in Burnaby. It’s hit or miss with the staff (sometimes quick and pleasant, other times I feel like an intrusion), and the layout leaves much to be desired. It’s cramped and small, an oftentimes so busy (especially early morning or after 6pm) there’s nowhere to sit. Sitting outside invariably leads to folks asking for change (or much worse, lets leave this a family-​friendly review!). I’ve only found one plug here as well, and every time I’ve been here it’s in use. WiFi is reliable however and the drinks/​food too. Good to stop and run, but I’d go to Waves or TeaLips nearby for anything lingering.

Yikes, probably the worse Starbucks I’ve ever been to. The crowd that hangs here is scary, the old men smoking outside to the questionable folks inside. Service to match!

The girl’s who work here always seem annoyed when customers come in to place orders. Outdoor seating is less than desirable as it is right next to the underground parkade. Once 6:00 am hits it’s a line out the door.

I have been to this location for several times and it’s always disorganized and not very friendly to customers.

My grandparents just moved across the street, and I was happy to see a Starbucks when I arrived.
My drink was okay, but the cashier did not have the typical Starbucks attitude (i.e., overly cheery). I would not recommend someone coming here; instead, visit Tealips a block over on Arcola. You’ll get much better food and drinks there.

Not one of the best Starbucks I have been to…
They got my drink wrong. That was literally UNACCEPTABLE coming from ME of all people. I love my Starbucks, and I work at Starbucks, but seriously? You got something that simple wrong? You have a sharpie, and a cup, write it down so you do not forget. Not that hard.
Ugh, that just didn’t make my day at all. The staff here really needs to be fully trained if they don’t know what Sugar-​Free Vanilla syrup is… I was just astounded by the people who work here from that.
I hope this is not an official head quaters one, if it is, the store manager really needs to train their staff properly.

One of my least favourites
I find this Highgate Mall Starbucks to be small and uncomfortable. It is laid out poorly, tough to find a table or a seat, and it’s location at the entrance to the underground parking makes the outdoor seating undesirable too. Not sure who planned this one, but it’s definitely not my favourite. Stop here if you want a coffee to take out, you won’t want to hang around here.

Busy Starbucks, not a good place to hang out as this is Highgate in South Burnaby. It’s right beside a major entrance to the underground parking lot. Instead of people watching while sipping a bitter cup of strong roast, you’ll be traffic watching some pick up trucks. Order your coffee and leave, there’s no drive thru.

Packed inside so I tried to grab a seat outside in the patio area, but there were two smokers out there who smoked me out.
I won’t be returning.

Blah. Starbucks coffee is for coffee drinks with no sense of class and taste. I went to this starbucks and I asked for a sumatro blend and the guy gave me a Christmas blend. I would never go back to Starbucks anymore.
100% KONA COFFEE all the way. Unfortunately, Starbucks doesn’t serve Kona coffee so I would never go to Starbucks.
