Cheap but not good — I don’t get why people keep coming here, but I also don’t have typically Brazilian tastes. I’ve walked by a hundred times and against my better instincts today decided to give it a try on the way back from an early meeting. Maybe they are better at lunch than at breakfast, but the experience really stank. They were all out of pão de queijo which is literally the first item listed on the menu — what??? In Brazil this is like running out of toast at a diner or coffee at a coffee shop. I asked about their breads, which are just definitely not fresh. They are the typical flavorless sugary breads that you find at every neighborhood boteco, no crunch and no real fiber content. I decided to stick to the sweets which at least looked promising and ordered a Carolina aka bomba de doce de leite com chocolate(like an éclair but filled with dulce de leche). It’s hard to mess up a Carolina, and this one could have been ok if it weren’t stale. While on the sweets train I decided to calorie splurge and get the Nutella cappuccino– the saddest cappuccino I’ve had in SP in ages. Not at all worth the calories. Seriously, skip this place and head over to my beloved Mr Baker if you want a great pão na chapa.
