We had a friends birthday dinner there and it catered really well for 10 of us including two kids. It’s a nice set up with a good amount of room for big groups and a nice big table for sharing food. We had a really delicious guacamole that’s made at the table and blue corn chips. We also had the melted cheese dip with chorizo but it’s was a bit much for me so I didn’t have much! My husband and I shared a few dishes for main. We had mexican meatballs which were pretty good, pork soft tacos which were fresh and yummy and empanadas which I normally love but these ones were deep fried. Still good but not the best. No real complaints on any of the dishes. The biggest downfall was the corkage at $ 2 per bottle of beer and $ 8 per bottle of wine — it kind of defeats the purpose of BYO! Great service though and it only worked out to $ 50 each which is pretty good.

After my two raving reviews of the place, I’m saddened to have to update with my latest experience. This is like going out with someone wonderful and you’ve had a bit argument leaving you at the cross roads of what to do next. I came here last week after finishing the HBF Fun Run for a breakfast. We were not told that the place was short staffed. There was only one waitress servicing the whole place. No front of house. Just one. One person in the kitchen, and one person making drinks. That’s 3 people in a restaurant serving breakfast. The bottomless coffee with cooked breakfast only came with prompting and we were given wet chipped mugs that hadn’t been washed properly. They had run out of potato hash. This was 11:00AM. We really should have taken this as a sign and walked out but our ridiculous adoration of the place kept us seated until we were served after a one hour wait. Only then did we get served our meals. The scrambled egg on my boyfriend’s plate wasn’t scrambled. It resembled creamy sauce. My omelette contained raw and burnt onion. I had to pick out the onion. Despite assurances that there was mushroom in the omelette from the waitress, there was no mushroom. There was miraculously hash brown on my plate. It had been burnt. On top of that, despite still wearing my Cancer Council WAHBF Fun Run shirt, two staff members comments, «Can’t those runners just run faster or something. The roads are all blocked. It’s not like it’s fundraising or anything.» Okaaay then. No discounts were offered by staff for the horrendous meals. Apologies were weak. Apparently our concerns will be passed onto the management. I doubt this one. And the bottomless coffee? It had a bottom. We didn’t get one refill. Not sure what’s going on but we’re now hesitant in returning.

You got to start with the Queso fundido — a melted cheese dip with house-made blue tortilla chips. Accompanied by a glass of Sav Blanc(which you can BYO), and your palette is set. That Little Mexican does a range of small share eats(guacamole, duck confit, stuffed jalapenos) which is a nice way to eat. But at the end of the day, you’re here for the main. The last time I came I had shredded pork tacos with a homemade salsa, but I had order envy for my friend who had sizzling prawns. The enchiladas here look really nice too. Some dishes are a tad overpriced, but the vibe is warm and also cool in an exposed-brick, drop lighting kind of way.
