I had the poutine burger AND the nuggets munch box with Malaysian sauce. I spent way too much(almost $ 20) but I really wanted to try ALL the vegetarian fast food. I really had high hopes for this place, but I was a little disappointed. The poutine burger came with fries in the burger, which were probably the best part. The soy bacon was pretty nasty. Mushrooms are a better substitute. The veg patty was better, but not something I’d actively seek out. Overall, the burger was a 2⁄5. The nuggets were pretty good. It didn’t taste too similar to actual chicken, which I actually prefer. The fries were standard. And the Malaysian sauce I got was pretty unique. Sour cream in Australia seems to be cheese curds like what you’d find in Canadian poutine. Wasn’t a huge fan of that. Overall, the nuggets were a 3.5÷5. Definitely rounded up because of the great mission behind the fast food joint. Even though it’s not the best vegetarian options out there, it is definitely a step in the right direction!

It was good — standard vegan fast food. Fries are good, but wouldn’t want them alone without a sandwich. The options all sounded really yummy, and it’s in a good location with convenient hours.

Fries. And nuggets. Those are the things I’ve tried. That’s a big chunk of the stuff they sell. And they were all right, but I’m still a little curious about all the hype. The first time I tried LOTF, my brother was raving about the fries and nuggets. It was just OK for me, though that could’ve been the fact that I was already stuffed at that point and was just eating it for the sake of trying it. Tried it again recently, and I’m still not too impressed, though that’s not saying that the food is horrible, because it’s not, it’s actually pretty decent. We shared a kids serve of classic cut fries($ 3.95) with French Canadian sauce(shredded cheese + hot sauce) — I think it was an additional $ 3? The«kids serve» was pretty big — seriously, THAT’s a kids serve?! But it was perfect as a shared dish since we were on a Sydney food-hop. The sauce was admittedly tasty, but I’d rate the entire combo as a 3⁄5. We were there really more for the novelty than the«mmm these are the best fries in Sydney» experience. Place is tiny and service is a tad slow, because there’s only two of them making the fries. If you’re craving for fries, come here, I guess.

I love LOTF and, as I live in Brisbane where for some insane reason we do not have it, I will eat it every chance I get upon visiting Sydney or Melbourne. The food from this outlet tastes more or less the same as that from its Melbourne relatives. Staff are relatively friendly, but keep in mind it’s fast food even though it tastes like heaven so there are no frills here. This may not hit the spot for the meat-lovers among you, but it’s great for a quick and guilt-free lunch, or perhaps to stuff your face with after you’ve been drinking all evening. Up to you. PS have the French Canadian fries. Just… do it.

Absolutely terrible service for sub standard food with a total attitude. They forget what you order and are rude when you ask for it to be changed to what you originally wanted. I even corrected my order when I noticed on the ticket and said, «hey you got it wrong… Can I get X instead» and they still argued when they delivered the wrong order. The customer is always wrong at Lord of the Fries– remember that before you go in. Cross the street to Hungry Jacks and you’ll get better service.

Trying to fund a late night drunken grease fix can be tough for a vegetarian so straight away I was going to be a fan of this place. Some of the meat substitutes are spot on while others are a touch science experiment but a big enough flavour & grease hit that you need after a dozen beers or so. In general I love hotdogs & since its dubious that even genuine franks have anything resembling meat in them having the substitute makes next to no different. The fries aren’t a patch on Belgium or the Netherlands style that they’re imitating but its a rare treat to have the option of more than salt, tomato sauce or vinegar in Sydney so the variety of sauces & toppings is great.

Given their main business is fries, except for a few burgers/drinks on the side, I was quite underwhelmed. I like that they don’t skin their potatoes, so you’re getting the full nutritional benefit(well as much nutrition as you can get from deep fried chips!). But there just wasn’t anything special to them. The service was amazing though — it’s ultra fast food, in that they don’t have any seating or a «dine in» option. I know some others have complained about wait times, but seriously, who waits 60 – 90 mins for food? I think they might be a tad exaggerated. I’d relegate then to a «Ok, I’m hungry and nothing much else is open» status though.

The reason I give this place 4 stars is there sauce. Albeit it, you eat their fries soggy and drenched in the sauce, it will taste like mush, but if you go for the piping hot, freshly cut potato along with some dipping sauce on the side(with lots of double dipping), you will definitely enjoy! The chips were also seasoned perfectly, and I would love to try their sweet potato fries! As for their veggie burger(because student life = awesome deals!), named the Guru Burger, while tasty, was definitely not on my radar as an unforgettable burger — it was a plain white roll with a delicious hot sauce, but also a normal veggie patty and the classic salads — they could totally up their burger game! The nuggets(quoting my mates here since I am a veggo) were delicious(especially in sauces) but were also very hard with spiky parts, leaving their gums sore! The deals are pretty good considering the massive serving sizes and if you haven’t gone, I would definitely give this place a try: D

I realllyyy wanted to love this place but unfortunately it just doesn’t hit it for me. Firstly, the fries are not that spectacular(not lord worthy anyway). The burgers are quite small and expensive and finally the wait time was ridiculous — 30 mins to get a burger and fries. Not happy Jan. Now for the good — the sauces(especially Belgian mayo) are really tasty. When you do eventually get the burger it’s pretty good, but that’s about it. If you’re desperate for a vegetarian or vegan burger in Sydney city give it a go but don’t expect to be wowed.

I try hard to like this place but it just doesn’t hit the spot for me. I’ve had the same experience down in Melbourne but really wanted to like this place when it opened in Sydney not far from where I live. The fries are good as long as you get them piping hot and not soaked in the sauces. The sauces are a little too elaborate, I think you just need to keep it simple? The burgers and hotdogs are overpriced and pretty poor in my belief?

I had really high expectations, which were unfortunately not met. The place is certainly worth of visit, especially by vegetarians and vegans(it’s 100% vegetarian, pretty much everything can be made vegan), but their fries simply do not taste all that great IMO. There’s a wide variety of sauces and really good burgers too. I got vegan nuggets and wasn’t impressed: they were a little too bread-ey and greasy. Heads-up: here’s no seating available and no bathrooms.

Had a burger and fries here. Was really good. I only found out 2 weeks later that it was vegetarian. Granted I had been out late bowling with my Grandpa and his mistress. And also granted, they sure love their cognac. And also that should go without saying, I mean who goes bowling with their Grandpa and doesn’t have a little Hennessy. But yeah, if you have a fifth of Henny and bowl up a big appetite, you might not notice the lack of meat.

I have to disclose my bias here — I have loved LOTF since(literally) stumbling upon it in the early hours of a Melbourne bar crawl many years ago. The fries with french canadian sauce(LOTF’s version of poutine) have been an essential component of any Melbourne trip since … So I was delighted when LOTF opened in Sydney, and the sweet potato fries with garlic aioli(I’m branching out!) were just delightful. I’ll be back many, many times … The faux burgers are good too, but for me it’ll always be about the fries …

When in Melbourne Lord of the Fries is the very first and very last place I visit. I’m not too sure what kind of crack they put in their food, but it’s addictive! With more gluten free options than you can poke a stick at Lord of the Fries fills a very big gap in the late night Sydney food market for those of us who are both veggo and gluto! The first Sydney outlet did not disappoint and I can’t wait to see them spread like wildfire through the CBD.

It’s a very unique place with quite the fan following! Everything is vegetarian with options for vegans. This particular location does not offer a sit-down area. Its carryout only. I went there for lunch on a saturday. There was a long line of folks waiting to get their orders in and carry them out. One of them told me that this is how it is on the weekend too. I ordered the spicy burger on wholemeal bun plus the fries. They have some real unique dipping sauces for the fries. I chose the East LA. The popular sauce seems to be the Vietnamese. I really wanted either the Sweet potato or the chunky fries. They were out of both unfortunately, so I ordered the regular fries. Fries were very good, but the East LA sauce made it too heavy. I will order a different sauce next time. The burger was very good — not greasy, had the right crunch and tasted really good. Pros — Food is very good. Cons — It’s takeout only at this location. I will be back.

New location and working out the kinks. I personally love this place. There are several in Melbourne now and this is the first one in Sydney. The prices are a dollar or more per item, they don’t have the paper menu, they don’t have all the sauces in stock or sauce of the month listed, they don’t have a full menu shown, there is also no seating. The mystery thing another reviewer send to a lab is a piece of a nugget. I get a piece of french fry everytime I get onion rings at Hungry Jack. I ordered the Big Mark burger combo($ 15) and also got a side of nuggets(not on the Sydney menu) and my total was $ 21. A little bit pricy and I only got a few nuggets but I really enjoyed it. There was a huge line when I was there. I have noticed a huge shortage of non-asian vegetarian food in Sydney CBD and glad LOTF came to fill that void.

3 stars until the results come back from the lab identifying the thing I found in my chips(pictured) Why did I ask for Mexican Sauce? I hate sour cream? Just getting started so I’ll go again when the place has settled in… depending on what the lab finds. I really dont need to find a great hot chip place.

During my trip to Melbourne in July, Lord of the Fries was hyped up so much to me, but the hype totally exceeded the actual taste and texture of the chips. Following on from that experience, I didn’t really have high hopes for the Sydney franchises… But after a night out for a friend’s birthday, Birthday Girl herself said she wanted some chips(and you always have to give Birthday Girl what she wants right?!) so off to Lord of the Fries we went. There’s a little window where you can see all the burger patties and chips being fried. Okay, what I’m about to say is a little stupid, but I can’t help how I feel! So, I know that burgers are fatty and chips are deep fried in a lot of oil, but looking through the little window and seeing for myself how and where everything is cooked… Well, it disturbs me a little!!! Anyway, there was a bit of a queue and after finally getting our chips with«Vietnamese» sauce(some sort of creamy, sweet chilli sort of sauce), they turned out to be a lot better than I remembered. They were lovely and crunchy but I didn’t really like the sauce all that much. It left a heavy and oddly bland feeling in my mouth, and I couldn’t taste any spiciness at all. I’m not certain I’ll be back here unless I have another night out in the city! I guess after all, that the best time for greasy comfort food is after drinking anyway!

Don’t know what the big deal is, however it is yummy and supposedly healthy(organic food! So its made out of real potatoes — which explains the price you are paying) so I will give this 4 stars instead of 3(and the fact it opens really late which can be handy for a late night snack). It definitely gives another option for late night food, or for pre/post-cinema snacks, or just another option for food if you don’t mind that it doesn’t have anywhere to sit inside.

I waited in line for 90 minutes tonight to get chips and a burger. Not just any kind of burger… a vegetarian burger. I thought to myself, this better be damn good… ANDITWAS!!! I am the furthest from a vegetarian that you could get(I had ribs for lunch today,) so I was pretty skeptical about how a veggie burger would taste… my skepticism was unfounded because I have to admit it was a pretty good burger. I ordered an original Big Burger meal with no mustard and soy bacon. I thought blasphemy, bacon cannot be soy… but I was the blasphemous one for doubting the Lord(of the Fries.) For the fries I had the original fries(chunky + sweet potato available,) ordered Belgian mayo and Vietnamese mayo(spicy chili) on the side. The Belgian mayo was alright, but the Vietnamese mayo was . The fries are double cooked and definitely some of the better fries I’ve had in Sydney… my favourite fries have been from Ogalo’s, but Lord of the Fries gives it a run for its money… I will need to do some more taste testing with their other sauces. If you’ve been to America, I’d say that Lord of the Fries reminds me of a vegetarian Five Guys since the fries are very similar in taste and quality(minus Cajun fries) and they both offer burgers and hot dogs. The nostalgia may have influenced my review a bit… so take that into consideration. If you don’t want to wait in a queue for a super long time, go in the arvo or after their official launch on Aug. 29th. Praise the Lord(of the Fries!!!) ***Update: I went again to try their hot dogs and ordered the Chicago dog. If you’re a fan of hot dogs and a carnivore I would skip the hot dog and get the burger, it tastes bland and it’s a bit«off,» most likely missing the meat taste. If you’re a vegetarian and really want a hot dog then order to your hearts content.
