I ordered the haloumi with poached eggs and avocado on sourdough plus bacon on the side. Eggs were cooked perfectly, and everything else in fact. Paid all up $ 21 for that dish, it was good value for money(almost couldn’t finish it all). So it’s a good hearty meal, not skimpy at all. The service is great! Fast and pleasant. Nice décor and there’s a fairly cute courtyard if you want to sit outside. My mate said the coffee was great too.

Yum yum yum! Blueberry pancakes with salted caramel sauce were fantastic! Eggs benny royal was delicious and the halloumi stack was sensational. Tea and milkshakes were all what you expect. Will be back on our next trip to Sydney.

This has become one of a few«select few» cafes we frequent for brunch on a regular basis. We have brunch on both Saturday and Sunday most weekends, so finding great places to eat has been a challenge. The Quesadillas are my favourite meal, eaten using hands, not knife and fork. So much more fun and messier of course. They are delicious, full of ingredients, bacon, cheese and thick chunks of avocado. The salad, with a tasty dressing and jalepino sauce bring it all together. I order my coffee hot, and that is joe I get it. Staff very friendly.

Food took ages but it’s an unusually busy day & it was great. Friendly staff & a serene courtyard out the back.

Had bacon cheese & avocado quesadilla with salad & tomato/jalapeño salsa. Very tasty. Cappucino was good too… had 2 of them. Have been here twice now & would recommend to anyone.

Erm, when did Redfern get all hipster and foodie? Was it when Surry Hills got full up or when I had children and hibernated? I don’t know when or how but I know that I like it! In particular this gorgeous addition to the scene(which is would appear is legitimately a ‘scene’ now). We ventured in for brunch one Sunday: 4 adults and 1 finicky kid and made use of their outdoor space to the rear of the café. Service was chipper, charming and prompt but best of all the food was a delight. Finicky kid is a direct product of finicky Mum but here I found at least 5 dishes that tempted me before I finally plumped for salmon fishcakes. Just the ticket, in fact brunch was enthusiastically gobbled by all(except the finicky kid) with promises made to go back for dinner. Really, really worth checking out.

I was excited to see a big, spacious place to eat in this strip of Redfern– as some of the others nearby are either overfull or don’t have much seating. Or they’re owned by Hillsong. So it was great Barn Doors open, with its cheery yellow and dark wood, dark grey tiles … All very carefully and attractively fitted out. In fact, it was so carefully designed inside it felt almost clinical, but I’m sure it’ll scuff up over time. A friend of mine said something about how«the typography in the front menu» had made her unsure about this place. That sounds absurd, but perhaps there is something to this. It was a bland, Helvetica sort of food selection. The service was friendly(although they did get my order completely wrong), and the food was pretty ordinary. Fresh but dull. The coffee was quite weak, although there are times when I don’t mind that. I think I’ll give these guys another go, but they certainly weren’t mind-blowing.

Walked in a couple of days ago for light lunch to check out this new place. There was nothing terrible about it, but there’s also nothing that makes it worth going back to either. The food is average at best, a bit pricey and the coffee not superb, which is a problem when this café is competing with three really great cafes within 50 metres. The ambience is fine, but not interesting or even that comfortable. On the plus side: it would be good for a light business lunch, as it’s quiet and there’s nothing particularly offensive about it; it has good disabled/pram access, which is an issue for alot of the smaller and older-style places in the area. Maybe you’d take your grandma there if she was in the area? Maybe if they put on free wifi it would have a point of difference? I don’t know. 2 ½ stars I suppose, I won’t go back.

There are so many other places nearby that are much much better! It’s always so exciting when something new opens in the area unfortunately this place misses the mark. Décor is appealing, service is fine although it is the type of café where you order at the counter. Food on the other hand is lacklustre. I had scrambled eggs, mushrooms and a hash brown. The eggs were nothing special, the mushrooms had no flavour, it’s not hard to add a little something to them but they were literally sautéed although i doubt even in butter with nothing nor seasoning. The hash brown was the standard frozen Birdseye supermarket type. Disappointed, think I’ll be cooking from home next time.

Just dropped in to this new addition to the Redfern strip today. The menu offers most of the normal café staples but with more besides and plenty of choice. I had a great Haloumi & Avocado Salad with toasted sourdough. Good service, comfy seating, friendly vibe and lot’s of tasty options. Recommended.
