Yum! Stopped in here for lunch today. Great coffee! Chill, friendly staff. I had the Caesar with salmon,(I love it when it’s done properly with anchovies and egg!) We also had the chicken avo panini with chips — great big chunky chips!

I went in for a late weekday lunch with my Nanna. The service was awkward and a bit unclear if it was table or order at the counter. I think that coming in during the lull of the day really impacted our experience here. Front of house staff were in wind down mode, cleaning around us which just made us feel like we were an inconvenience. Some kitchen staff were eating in the main part of the restaurant and someone else was balancing cash and receipts at another table. I had balsamic mushrooms with poached eggs and I ate less than half of it. Toast was cold, eggs were over cooked and mushrooms were so soaked in balsamic that had you been blindfolded you wouldn’t have known it was a mushroom. it was really quite inedible and the waiter didn’t seem at all phased or curious as to why that neither of us had eaten much of our meals. Our coffees were below average — mine a single shot espresso although a double was ordered and my Nanna’s weak latte was much too strong(she may have received my extra shot!?) Because I was with my Nanna who doesn’t like to make a fuss about anything, I didn’t say anything but had I been alone or with a friend I would have been more likely to make a comment about the poor service, food and coffee. Redeeming factor is that the building and space is actually really lovely — hugely high ceilings.

The Post Café was once my go to coffee spot when I was a Marrickville local so it was nice to check in there again when I visited Sydney recently. There’s plenty to choose from on the menu but I always seem to go for eggs with sides and it is really well priced for the size of the serving we received. They’ve had a bit of a makeover in the last few years but it’s a bit of a miss in my books. Although it’s nice sitting by the window in a big old building with high ceilings with a coffee in hand and watching the world go by.

Absolutely love this place! My boyfriend and I always go here for a Sunday brunch if we want something local. It always seems to be busy but we’ve never had to wait for more than 2 minutes for a table. And the wait is always worth it. The Post(big) breakfast is to die for! I never seem to finish it even on my most hungriest of days. Coffee is great too! Also try out the pancakes. I’m always too scared to try something new but never disappointed with my usual order. The staff there are excellent as well. I never have to ask for table water, a menu or even a waiter to take my order. Everything and everyone is already prepared! Even though it’s located on a main road the restaurant itself is so chilled and laid back which I absolutely love. And it has great history!

Over all it was a good experiences. They do offer good interesting menu in general and also good special. I have piccolo as started with Caribbean frappé to start my journey. Healthy breakfast option grill halloumi, with brown rice, roast beetroot, semi dried tomato and baby broccoli was satisfying my hunger soul for my brunch. Came here with bunch of friends and this is what I observed. Presentation of breaky wrap is inspired by sushi roll, really interesting to see, The pancakes look vibrant and colorful, maybe I try it next time. Goat cheese breakfast was really good, I tried the dish a little, the goat cheese was subtle and smooth yet enough to lift up the whole dish! Turkish breakfast come also with nice option on the plate. Save your he best for last, those Ferraro Roche Donut was ah-maz-zing to the max! Live the lightness, presentation and the whole she bangs! And as usual all camera shutters are clicking this take snapshot of this items!

Bang on the corner of Marrickville Rd and Silver St. Presiding over a wide, welcoming pedestrian mall. Beneficiary of both morning and afternoon sun. Purveyor of heart-warming lattes. Employer of sweet older and foxy younger waitresses. Slinger of poached eggs on sourdough with a zinging tomato relish. Welcomer of eaters, drinkers, chatters, strollers. O, Post Café, long may you serve Marrickville.

Housed in the beautiful old building of the former Marrickville Post Office, Post Café boasts wooden floors, high ceilings and gorgeous arched windows. While the real post office now sits at the back of the building, the café takes prime position overlooking Marrickville Road, which seems to suit the noshers just fine…(And it seemed to bring a smile to K Rudd’s face when he visited in March 2011.) There are plenty of tables inside(grab a window seat if you can) as well as outside in the communal piazza. If you’ve got kids, there are a few boxes of toys and a kids’ menu to keep them entertained while you enjoy a cuppa and a selection from the glass cabinet.(Macaroon, perhaps?) There’s an all-day breakfast menu featuring the likes of buttermilk flapjacks with maple syrup, or for lunch I always like the grilled sirloin sandwich with lettuce, cheese, capsicum and onion jam, or the fresh Turkish roll filled with smoked salmon, dill cream cheese, baby spinach and capers and served with chips. They should do the trick!

Again relying on twitter for suggestions of where to go close to Marrickville, I narrowly avoided a café that served vittoria, and found my way here. Seeing the Campos signs out front, I was more than happy to head inside and give it a go. Inside the old post office had been transformed in to a massive space filled with plenty of tables. I loved the high roof as it somehow made the room a little more relaxed. In any case… of course I was here for the coffee. Ordering a dbl mac and a latte, I figured we would get a fair range of the coffee available here. Unfortunately, while there certainly was not too much milk, there was enough froth to make a cap jealous. Worse, the coffee was burnt and bitter. I know the Campos beans can make an awesome cup of coffee, so perhaps this was just a once off, especially as my friends recommended this café, but I am not sure I will be back. The latte covered up most of the issues that the dbl mac had with lots of milk, but even it had a burnt after taste. Given the awesome service we had here, and having glanced the massive portions of food going out to other tables, I am sure this café has a lot going for it. Worth giving a go at least once. Hopefully my experience is not the norm. Café Summary — — — — — — — — Passion for Coffee — 6⁄10 Coffee beans — Campos Crema(1=burnt, 10=velvet) — 4⁄10 Special coffees avail? — N/A
