Not your usual hippy markets, this place has proper stuff. Good food, spices, meats and cheeses, nursery plants, it’s all good. There’s a little food court up the back with coffee and ethnic food. You have to try the Canadian pancakes! Parking is free on the weekend, and there’s plenty nearby to see once you finish at the markets.

So this place has been operating for a while. It’s got tonnes of parking, both on street and on site so we’ve never failed to get a place, but having said that it is in Canberra so it’s a walk away from most of central Canberra. The lower level caters to the food element while the upper level focuses on the artistic bent. There is also a small area set aside purely for jewelry on the lower level. I am not obsessed with jewelry, so for me the lower level of food is most important. Honey’s, nuts and pastries, breads, olives and smallgoods. I find coming here a really good experience, the foods are fresh, the people are friendly and its always bustling. It’s not inexpensive, but its a great opportunity to try local food.

I spent most of my time at this market chatting away to my friend who lives in Canberra(I was visiting from Sydney) so I only made passing glances at the craft and fresh produce on offer whilst walking up and down the aisles. But I did like what I saw so it gets a thumbs up from me.
