The boy and I are in Canberra for the weekend and thought we’d try the only burger joint in ACT on the Australia’s 50 Best Burgers list. After a morning of sight seeing we arrived around 1.45pm and the place was packed. We made our way to the front counter, the space is very small with so many people cramming in to order and pick up take-away orders. As soon as we stepped up to the counter we were warned there was a 30 – 45 minute wait, we thought we had to wait for a table anyway so why not. The only problem we had… So many choices, so little time! I ended up choosing the original cheeseburger with swiss cheese and a side of 6 onion rings because hello, onion rings! The boy ordered the double cheeseburger with cheddar cheese(no pickles as always) and a side of chips. We also grabbed a 4 pines alcoholic ginger beer a heineken and headed back out to the dining area to find a table. Straight away we found a seat at the end of one of the tables outside, it quickly became apparent though that it was getting ready to rain with the odd spot hitting us so we scoped a seat inside and made our move. Lucky we did, not 5 minutes later it had started pouring with rain. After just under 45 minutes our burgers arrived. They smelled absolutely delicious and tasted even better! Mine had the right amount of sauce, a bit heavy on the pickles but once I removed a couple it was perfect. The onion rings came with an amazing garlic herb sauce, yum! I can see why it made the best burgers list. The boy however struggled with his double cheeseburger but after removing one of the patties was able to enjoy it. I would also highly recommend the 4 Pines Ginger Beer… I’m not a big drinker however I was in love, the boy had to buy another one as i stole his. The only downside to the experience was the cleanliness of the tables, although the rubbish was removed they weren’t really wiped down. Also the outdoor dining area is not undercover so when it rained it was very cramped inside which made it very stuffy.

Following all the rave reviews about this place, decided to go for dinner on our first night in Canberra. We arrived early and so we got a table quite easily, however our burgers still took a solid 40 minutes to arrive(probably because they do a lot of takeaway orders as well). Be warned, the serving portions are big. We struggled to finish our burgers and calamari and had to dump most of our chips by the end. However, the burger IS delicious and you certainly won’t be disappointed if you’ve come here to smother your face in cheesy, greasy and ridiculously good food! The calamari was fresh(not those calamari rings you find everywhere else) however it was a shame that we were too full by the end to enjoy them properly! The location is stunning, with floor to ceiling glass walls allowing for sweeping views of the new Kingston development. It got super packed later on with dinner rush hour but I guess that’s just testimony of how popular this place is. Another fantastic non-Maccas burger joint which sells real fast food!

Just BRILLIANT! Even if you don’t like glassworks, a visit to the Canberra Glassworks factory will not disappoint. This gem, hidden within the premises, produces some of the best burgers in the country. Yes — I mean it!

Long wait for an average burger. I get that broadburger is an institution in Canberrra and this may not be the most popular view but I just didn’t get what the hype was about. I had the cheeseburger and my friend had the salmon burger — both were huge but no super fantastic. The fries were also freezing cold. Overall very meh for 45 minutes of waiting. Going to stick with grill’d.

I’ve been here for 2.5 years and finally made it to brodburger. So, the burger I had was good. Tasty, good ingredients, well balanced, nice bread. The options are good, a range of fillings on the menu and cheeses. Prices are reasonable and having two sizes helped for sure. Don’t get me wrong– the burger was great. But it really did not live up to the hype. It was a really good burger, but not the best I have, not life changing, and when the volume of traffic makes for a 45 minute wait? Hmm.

Best burger I’ve had in Australia! I know that this is a big call, but I am willing to make it. Knowing this, you’ll understand when you come to this place and it is crowded more than a church at the end of the world. And as of their signs clearly states, this isn’t McDonalds so don’t expect fast food — so in other words, prepare to wait. But putting that all side, great burger. Just a tip, no matter how hungry you think you are, don’t get two patties, just get the one. Trust me — this is a big burger. There was a moment a few days ago, I was considering driving to Canberra just so I can have this burger again. Also, if you are lucky to get a table to sit — then they also offer you board games and card games to entertain you while you are awaiting for your burger. Some times before abuse this system and sit there after they finished eating. Just a note for everyone, once you have finished eating and see you a giant line of people waiting for seat — get up! Seriously one of my pet peeves. Anyway, thus in summary, try the burger here.

Not quite sure what all the hype is about. Mediocre food with an above mediocre price. The location is good… That seems to be about all it has going for it though. Won’t be going back.

Awesomin’ Blossomin’ Burger… Canberra is a quiet little capital city. Ogle the kangaroos grazing at the side of the highway, experience the legion of traffic circles, and you can sum a tourist’s excitement in one hour. I’m no tourist, though. I am a man with a golden fork and a proud appetite. Show me the honey. And traveling 15 hours into another dimension of the planet, where native uncaged cockatoos roam free and only I have the foreign accent out of the bunch, I realize I’ve come all this way to stick my golden fork into a hamburger. A HAMBURGER! But the spirited locals approve of such a burger stand, known as Brodburger, holding a gripe on reasons it’s imperative for me to try this up-and-comer. So… tell me… why? Brodburger gives you experience waiting in a long line for 45 minutes. You get to take part in exploration of hidden empty seating. Finally, you can participate in the tasting of an ordinary-looking gourmet burger. But wait. I’m tasting subtle inspiring differences here, inside this layered flame-grilled ½ lb. patty, with usual produce and aioli, there’s something about the sourdough-esque bun that holds me wondering if it’s all in the water. These basic ingredients held together are creating positive salivation vibes and I hold a tiff with my stomach for reasons why I can’t have another already. Perhaps if I wait in line again, by the time I reach the register, my stomach and I will have settled our differences and come to a ½ lb. decision. My spirited local suggests calling the establishment first to make an order and arrive right on time to get the VIP treatment — little to no waiting. Then while waiting in the line to pay, your counterpart can find VIP seating — leering over a golden couple who finish their last bites.

What a perfectly positioned burger joint, and such a fantastic pit stop after a hard days shopping at the Old Depot Market. Having no idea how popular this place was we luckily arrived slightly before lunch and didn’t have to wait in line or struggle to find a seat. The ordering process was very streamlined and we had ordered and were eating in no time. The burger was divine and I was happy with my blue cheese addition to the classic Brodburger. Onion rings were big, crunchy and sweet… yum.

The Brodburger was a party in my mouth! So good!(Although we waited over an hour for our food… On a Tuesday… At 1.30pm… when hardly any people were in sight.) Everyone needs to experience Brodburger. But a tip to avoid severe hangriness: order beforehand via their website or app.

A logistical nightmare; a culinary gem. We’ve tried several times to have lunch at Brodburger, but never even made it out of the car since an insane line was always visible from the car park. The other day we happened by on other business and, seeing no line, decided to strike. Turns out the line was virtual: upon ordering, we were given a buzzer and told the wait would be around 45 minutes. Very shrewd, Brodburger, waiting until we had already ordered before breaking the bad news. We decide to wait, and 40 minutes of distracted flea market browsing later our food was ready. The verdict? The fries(OK, chips): completely ordinary and no ketchup(tomato sauce) to be found, which I found very sad. The haloumi burger: absolutely delicious, possibly the best veggie burger I have ever had.

Recommended and well-reviewed it was quite fun to try a burger at this Canberra ‘institution’. Situated no longer in a red caravan but in the cool glassworks(think Brisbane Powerhouse, but smaller) the setting is nice and airy. Our wait to order was short, but burger wait time was a bit upward of 30 minutes(which was announced, so no unexpected surprise). The double cheese burger was huge, but what would you expect for close to $ 20? My regular burger had fresh ingredients and tasted that way but the meat/patty was devoid of any juiciness. Pros: friendly staff, cool place Cons: sad fries, not a grrreat burger, the wait Conclusion: another place next time

The burgers are good, their flavor derives from medium rare lean-ish meat and a garlic mayo. Fries are thin and very vanilla. The location is fine, with large communal tables and a speedy service. Oh, and a decent beer selection! But best burgers in Canberra? I hope not as there is plenty of room for improvement.

It is not intuitive to associate great hamburger joints outside the US — even less so in Canberra. However one needs to get over this and understand Brodeburger deliver simply stunning hamburgers — they are world class and there are so many options to choose from. There are beef, chicken and fish. The bread roll is excellent and the ingredients are fresh and plentful. They are uniquely located on the lake side of the Canberra Glassworks where there is abundant parking… it is a comfortable place to eat and the ‘eat in’ service is good. They are not fast food… be prepared to wait and sometimes the queues can be long… however the wait will be worth it.

I do agree with the rest of the reviewers, this could very well be the best burgers in Canberra! My brother recommended this place to me, and this is another one of those places I absolutely MUST go to whenever I’m in the ACT. First — don’t be prepared to sit. When I went during the weekend, the place was absolutely packed. When that happens, it’s best to keep a partnership thing going on with your meal buddies… while one person lines up to place an order, everyone else keeps an eye on people leaving to make a mad grab for seats. Obviously, when there’s a lot of people, orders can take really long. But I’ve gone there during weeknights and it wasn’t too bad. And — I don’t know how else to say this — but the burgers are good. They’re big, too. For $ 13.50 you can get a tasty, half pound beef burger. AND you can choose your cheese, too. Yummm! What we used to do in the beginning was to share, so we could get a taste of the different kinds. The burgers are big enough to divide and still have everyone end up with a decent-sized piece.(But personally I didn’t like the other burgers as much as the beef one so lately I’ve just been getting the beef burgers.)

My husband is still drooling at the thought of Brodburger. The burgers definitely are yummy but FYI, the chips were a big disappointment(almost as crappy as McDonald’s chips). Just order the burgers and don’t waste space on the chips. The Brodburger deluxe is very huge, almost too huge to get your mouth around. We went there on a weeknight around 5:15 and beat the dinner rush.

I just spent 4 years in the US. My mum would call me and tell me about this burger place that had just opened up in Canberra. I’d be like, «yeah, mum, I’m in the US. They do pretty good burgers here, too.» Which they might, but I gotta say, Brodburger is worth calling the US about. They’re really that good. These burgers are big; the bread is great(the Americans can’t beat this); the meat is done really well and the aioli and relish they put on these burgers finish them perfectly. They taste like a burger that someone spent a long time trying to get right. And if you’re really, really hungry, you can venture into«unfinishable» business with the Broddeluxe. This thing is two beef patties, two eggs and all the associated toppings. I’m no lightweight but I’ve ordered this thing more than I’ve been able to finish it(and… when I have finished it, there’s been a bellyache involved for a few hours afterwards). It’s huge. Great fries and some really good little desserts close out the food side. The location itself is great, with a bright open building in the Glassworks. On the negative side: the wait when things get busy can be horrendous. We’re talking up to an hour.(Call ahead and order takeout!). The staff can get overwhelmed and as some of the other reviewers have noted, the tables can be left uncleaned. And there can be a scarcity of tables in peak times, too. But none of this can detract from what is one hell of a burger right here in the nation’s capital.

Best burgers in the ACT and probably N.S.W, place is small on table space but busy so get in early. In the old days, last year, it wasn’t in common to see 15 people waiting around the old caravan for their orders, which reflects the goodness of the burger not slow service. The old place had well deserved cult status, be good to see the old caravan on the new site, even just as a momento

Prepare for filth. The conditions of the restaurant are appalling. The staff don’t care and are inept at taking orders, adding up, or providing decent service. How hard is it to wipe down a table? Hygiene is lacking and I’m surprised there aren’t rodents running around. But the burgers are why people come here, the hipsters from nearby public service buildings. Ours weren’t cooked satisfactorily. More attention needs to be paid to cleanliness and basic food hygeine.
