Super Bowl is a staple for my friends and I. Weekends spent drinking at a bar nearby almost always finish with a decadent spread of food and BYO bottles of wine or beer at this restaurant. The décor is simplistic at best, very low-key but designed to fit as many tables in as possible. You will be squeezing in between seats all night, but that’s part of the appeal if you ask me. The wait staff are always attentive and will cater to any dietary requirement. Food comes out super quickly and is always hot and delicious. I recommend getting a few dishes to share around the table and don’t be scared to ask the wait staff what they recommend! If you’re feeling less than«flush» with cash this is definitely your spot. Everything is very reasonably priced and you will emerge stuffed to the brim without having invested a whole lot of your money. Highly recommended, however be sure you book if you’re heading there on a weekend. They can get very busy.

Laksa — You have not tried authentic Laksa until you ordered one here. Wonton — 5 Stars. Few other dishes — OK.

We had the banquet! Good sized plates! Food was good, fresh and hot! Generous amounts of meats on the dishes. Veggies were good quality and bright(made dishes worthy of devouring!) sweet corn chicken soup was lovely! Service was friendly and efficient, as well as polite!(Even though the house was full!!) ice buckets were bought out for our Byo drinks, before we even had them open! Birthday celebrations on other tables was fun! Owner, thanked our table and wished us all merry Xmas with a great big smile and hand shake! Good price! good food! Will be back in the near future: D

It was already pretty late at night, so we chose the first restaurant that looked like it had customers, which just happened to be Super Bowl. I had the roast duck with noodles, which I actually enjoyed, other than the fact that it was a bit salty. The duck, though there wasn’t that much meat, the skin was surprisingly crispy. I really enjoyed the duck, despite the soup base being salty. The noodles were just ok, but I did like that the noodles came with a generous portion of bok choi. I also tried the fried tofu, which was freshly fried, though it is more of an appetizer than a main meal. When we were there, two birthdays were being celebrated, so they played this cheesy soundtrack of children singing«Happy Birthday,» — which, if you want to embarrass your birthday friend, this is it! It became a little obnoxious, but the friendly service made up for it.

Super Bowl is like eating at a good friend or close family member’s place. Not fancy at all, it can be rowdy, but so comfortable and you know that you’ll always get a great meal. I love Super Bowl. I think the food is really yummy and always fresh. The consistency of meals there have always been good. My only lament is that the deep fried icecream is not the best I’ve had. And of course, you can’t go wrong with the price. Jimmy the owner always greats us like we are family and makes sure our needs are satisfied. I’m a regular at ‘Jimmy’s’(our pet name for Super Bowl). We love eating at Jimmy’s place!

I’d heard urban myths about how good Super Bowl Chinese Restaurant was and yet it took me this long to finally venture to Super Bowl. As many have noted it is best enjoyed with a group and with a group of about 10 we were never once made feel like a trouble to the waiters. Our food arrived pretty swiftly and I think if there was a favourite to be chosen it would be the fried eggplant and beef & black bean. That said, although being cheap as chips(think about $ 20 per person) and BYO, the food is standard«Australian Chinese» and is good but, in my opinion, not amazing.

Super Bowl is legendary. I can’t count on both hands the number of times I’ve rocked up here without a booking, with three to thirty-three friends along with me, only to have them find a way to accommodate us AND serve us in a timely fashion. I don’t think I’ve ever dined here with less than half a dozen people — I think our biggest count once was fourteen. This place is hands down my go-to venue for pre-gig dinner if I’m in the Valley for the evening. Bring enough friends that you can share your stuff on the lazy susan, or ferret your meal away all to yourself, nobody’s going to judge you. In fact, you’ll probably be the one missing out if you don’t play the lazy susan game. BYO a couple of bottles of wine from the Thirsty Camel across the road and you’ll be apples. Bonus challenge: get the host to crack a smile! It HAS been done! Also, for an experience like no other, tell them it’s your birthday. The birthday song here may be the best one I’ve encountered in all my twenty-eight years.(Side note: the birthday song may be what makes the host so surly.) As far as the poor reviews go… the strangers do not understand us, our customs, our local ways. This is a local shop for local people! There’s nothing for you here!

Always has and always will be… the best venue to drink a bottle of wine amongst friends at and eat up delicious goodness with chop sticks, not including the«San Choy Bow». I’m sorry to all those below who have rated this below 3, but you must surely be mistaken. This venue is always welcoming and considering they accommodate Brisbane’s part time alcoholics who enjoy a good eat, I wouldn’t blame the stern host for not greeting you with a smile. I like that you are plated up a decent feed within half an hour of sitting down and they give you«FREEDESERT» on birthdays, turn the lights off and play a very strange Happy Birthday track. Some Saturday nights you may hear this 6 times within the hour. Props to Super Bowl. 6 years on from our first date, you still have me going back.

It was a birthday that will live in infamy. A large group of us gathered at the Super Bowl on a Saturday night to celebrate the twenty third birthday of a dear friend. What followed was a dinner almost farcical in its awfulness. The place was packed, as it commonly is, and the noise was something akin to a runway at Heathrow Airport. Conversation was reduced to a series of polite nods and awkward smiles which may have contributed to the waiter getting eight of our twelve orders wrong. Regardless of the reason I was a bit perplexed to find myself chowing down on a meal intended for the table behind me. As most of us ate it became apparent the birthday boys food was not on its way and despite our regular inquiries to the wait staff it didn’t come until after the bill. And to cap things off, every drop of black bean sauce on the plate was poured down the back of my shirt as the plate was passed over my head. As far as dinner goes it was chaotic, it was shambolic but boy did we have fun. Not a great experience in any traditional sense and none of us will be in a hurry to go back but thanks for some truly funny memories Super Bowl!

If you’re looking for a cheap and cheerful place to eat before heading out in the Valley, this is where you should be heading. Superbowl is without a doubt one of the friendliest, least pretentious and most casual restaurants in Fortitude Valley, plus, the food is great! Some of my favourite options on the menu are the curry puffs, salt and pepper eggplant, shredded peking beef, and tom yum chicken hot pot. If you or a friend are celebrating a birthday, whisper in your attendant’s ear as you arrive for the full Superbowl experience. In the many times I’ve eaten there, my experience at Superbowl has been overwhelmingly positive. If noisy restaurants or slightly intoxicated patrons offend you, best steer clear, but if you have a group of friends and a few bottles of wine in tow, it’s the perfect place to visit.

I’ve got to say I’m a bit surprised to read a negative review about Super Bowl. I often go to this Chinese restaurant as it’s cheap, centrally located and one of my best friends LOVES it. I went the other night and highlights were the salt and pepper eggplant(better than any salt and pepper calamari I’ve had), the crispy beef(shredded beef deep fried, HELLO) and the roast duck. 7 people stuffed themselves and the whole meal was $ 200 which is well within my budget. Oh, and they have white cloud ear fungus which gets points from me every time. PLUS when it’s somebody’s birthday the lights go out and a cheesy ‘Happy Birthday’ recording comes on(happy birthday dear friend fits every one) and you get orange slices at the end of every meal. Win.

Really really average Chinese food, very disappointed. Suggest you try elsewhere — I don’t think you could get any worse!
