I discovered Hirameki Japanese Restaurant by accident recently while looking for one of my favourite Korean BBQ Restaurants in the Valley. I didn’t find it — It was gone! In its place was Hirameki. As you can imagine I was quite distraught but decided to check out this new eatery anyway — after all I am a sucker for sushi!
I wasn’t disappointed! Are there any four words that go together more beautifully than ‘all you can eat’? I think not… For just $ 19 you can stuff your face with as much sushi as you please. There is also an al-​a-​carte menu if you prefer which is quite reasonable. The restaurant itself is pretty ordinary — a big open room with dull coloured walls and a few oriental landscapes but the food is good.
I ordered al-​a-​carte because I can’t do Japanese without having sashimi (which unfortunately is not available at the buffet). The wait staff were pleasant and I was presented with a platter of assorted sashimi — tuna, salmon and squid garnished with fresh lemons and pickled ginger. The salmon was delightful — light and refreshing. The tuna was a beautiful colour — you could tell it was very fresh just by looking at it. The squid was plump and very tender.
If you’re in the Valley, super starving and only have $ 20 to your name definitely visit Hirameki. You won’t be disappointed — and your tummy will thank you!
