J & P is a lovely café, spacious large dining area, sandwiches and light meals were well priced and sounded fresh & healthy. The wait staff were very attentive and friendly. I had the salmon & prawn burger which came with a side of fries. The brioche bun made it extra yummy, but the let down was the generosity in the aoli — the chef put two large dollops on the top and bottom of the buns, so it squirted out onto my new jet black jeans and all over my hands — it was very messy to eat but delicious. The moist patty and rich brioche bun did not need that much aoli, I’d be happy with ¼ of the amount. Fries were very crunchy and sprinkled with salt flakes but had a stale oil taste to it, so I only had a few bites. It was a $ 16 burger, so I was shocked to be charged 50c for tomato sauce. My daughter had the pancakes with bacon and maple syrup($ 12.50). The bacon portion was very generous and it came with three pancakes and maple-flavored syrup. The pancakes definitely needed to be eaten with the bacon and syrup as it was quite dry on its own even though it was made to order. Overall this is a nice café if you are in the area. I kinda prefer the ones on Jetty Road just a short drive away towards the beach though.

A girlfriend suggest we meet here for coffee on a Sunday and I thought? Suburbs? Coffee shop? Sunday? Will it be open? And much to our delight it was. We met at 2.30pm and found ourselves a spot there were another 4 – 5 groups in the café at the time and some empty table where people had just st left so I can presume their lunch trade must of been buzzing? My friend settled in with a coffee and cake & I was a little hungry so thought i’de order something small — a vegetarian wrap and strawberry smoothie. The wrap ingredients was fresh I had the Avocado, carrot, beetroot, sprouts, baby spinach, pickled radish, onion compote, hummus, walnut dukkah — without the onion. The staff were more than accomodating and it came out quickly. I also noted for brekky they have a vegan option so this is on my list for my next visit. The staff were very sweet and eve when we were the last to leave they never hurried us up… My only suggestions are to have a larger juice/smoothie list to choose from & would be great if they stayed open slightly longer as it closes at 4pm. My friend and I normally meet up at Marion which shuts at 5pm & we could have drank & chatted and for another hour only to realise it was time to go. Other than than we would love to go back.

Actually found this place by accident and walked on in. The greeing from staff was refreshingly welcoming and informative. Nice to recieve table service instead of lining up at the counter like a cow to be milked. The menu was short but easily pleased myself and my two teenage boys. The drinks menu is possibly larger than the food menu with awesome choices of smoothies and unique shakes. The strawberry, coconut and protein smoothie pleased Mr 19 year old fitness fanatic and the salted caramel shake intrigued Mr 17 year old foodie. Our food came out quick(20 mins or so) and was lovely. The brioche buns on the grilled haloumi and chicken burgers were fresh and delightful. The chicken thigh in the burger was tasty but a little dry and hard to swallow. Still enjoyable but perhaps would have preferred a breast fillet. No biggy. The big breakfast was impressive but the grilled chorizo side dish w chimmichurri sauce created a food fight between the three of us as it was so delicious. Will definitely return. I thank the stars for aligning today that bought us to your establishment.

It’s nice to see a new café on Brighton Road — this one replaces the old video shop, and it’s huge! We came here for brunch — the menu is standard with a few modern twists. I ordered the Breakfast Burger($ 11) — bacon, brioche burger, fried egg, haloumi, chilli jam, smashed avocado and mesculin lettuce. Absolutely delicious! My partner was less impressed with her pancakes, which she said were dry and not very fluffy, and came with anaemic bacon(how do you get bacon wrong??). Coffee was lovely though — it passed the long black test — and the staff were friendly. I would have given Juniper and Pine 3 ½ stars if I could … I rounded it up due to the fact that they haven’t been open for very long, so may still be ironing out problems … for example, there was residual food on the floor near our table, presumably from the night before — yuck. Juniper and Pine is trying to be hipster, but the décor is dated(ie daggy paintings on the walls) so it misses the mark. Saying that, we will still be coming back again(maybe for dinner) to give them another chance, as they have great potential :)
