Scotch ‘n’ Soda

We rolled in for a late lunch on a Sunday, and I had the curry schnitzel, because I wanted something German but with a twist and some spice. The whole dinner came out really well, but some reason I asked for mashed potatoes instead of fries, the potatoes came out but the chef took it back immediately, and I got fries instead … hmmm weird. The schnitzel was cooked nicely, not dry and curry had a hint of spice. Beers were good, good, they have some smaller TVs to watch some footie.
Fast forward to the following day, dinner with one of my friends nearby, somehow we ended up here for drinks after dinner than things started going downhill, good times, but rough morning.

Great pub in downtown Wiesbaden. The facility is very clean and the entire staff is friendly.

The amount of food you get for the price you pay isn’t bad by any means it’s actually quite good. However the quality just seems to be lacking. The service is a little bit slower than the rest of the European restaurants in the area. The atmosphere is nice and the staff is friendly, but the food just isn’t as good as I would hope it to be. It is kid friendly and the menu offers a variety of Irish foods. The burger menu is wide and the names for the food are quite comical in a good way. I’ve been here several times and the quality of the food just seems to deteriorate every time.

We came early (4:40pm) for dinner, and the place was empty. Nevertheless, the service was exceptionally slow. This seems to be true anywhere in Germany, but it was really show here.
That being said, the food was good and the prices were reasonable. Being sick of pork and other German specialties at this point, we had a burger and a club sandwich and a couple of beers.

This is a great place to meet other english speakers if you are an expat. It is a nice bar that also serves food. Its located in the old part of the city so if people watching is your thing grab and outside table and watch all night long. The staff is super friendly and welcoming.

I guess I’m hooked. We always end up here and try something new from the menu. My past visit involved trying their Jäger Schnitzel. I haven’t had a bad meal here yet. Others at the table enjoyed the fish n chips and the «Big Dick Burger», a creation from the owner, Gordon Dick himself.

The owner Gordon is wondrful. The other staff leaves something to be desired. Been 4 or 5 times and ordered something different each time. Never been impressed with the food. Except the fries are really good steak fries

Pretty good place to mingle and have a cold brew with some decent grub. The wait staff has been friendly and spoken English both times I’ve been. Their schnitzel is pretty delicious and definitely something I’d order again. I also had a burger there. Ok– something about burgers: It’s VERY hard to find a juicy medium-​rare burger in these parts (and by «these parts», I mean the entire country of Germany). That being said, the flavors of the burger I had were pretty good, but it was very overcooked. Please note that I like my beef mooing. The owner can be seen, from what I hear, quite frequently. He’s been there both times I went. Really friendly fella. No bad experiences there to speak of.

Between the congenial staff, vivacious owner, plethora of alcohols, and great food I can’t say I had anything to complain about.

Super busy on football game nights. It’s kind of interesting how people pop in and out otherwise and a lot chose to sit outside. My favorite spot to start out for the night and sometimes I just stay here till close!

Guter Laden.
Im Herzen der Altstadt von Wiesbaden, lockeres Gehabe, schnelles Essen und eine Scotch-​Auswahl die ihresgleichen sucht!
Nervig jedoch ist die Treppe die einem direkt ins Gesicht zu schlagen scheint wenn man reinkommt.
Zwar ist es lobenswert, dass dementsprechend nur oben geraucht wird, aber auf mich hat es den Eindruck, dass der Laden kleiner wirkt.
Im Sommer auf der großen Terrasse wenn Fußball läuft oder sonst ein Sportevent, gerne wieder.

Great food, Great atmosphere, great price.
Steak is particularly good, the fillet of course. I usually stick with that when I go there. My wife and our guests have tried nearly everything on the menu (through our 6 months or so in the area) and no one has been disappointed.
Whiskey and Scotch are your drinks? no problem. They have a menu just for you.
New to Whiskey or Scotch? the owner himself comes to your tables and offers some assistance with the drink menu.

Gutes Essen (fish n chips), Kölsch (natürlich auch Guinness) und auch ansonsten sehr zufrieden. Well done.

Wir waren nun drei mal im SnS und werden wohl nicht noche… Das erste Mal fanden wir das umfangreiche Whisky-​Sortimen… Beim zweiten Besuch glänzte dasSnS für meinen Anspruch sc… Der letzte Besuchhat dann dem (Whisky-)Fass den Boden aus… Zunächst bekamen wir eine Getränkekartepräsentiert die ma… Beinäherem Umschauen fiel auch eine allgemeine Unordnu… Als dann unser bestellter Whisky gebracht wurde kam noch … Eine Beanstandung half nurbedingt. Aus meinen 2,5cl wurde… Insgesamt hat die Unordnung, Unsauberkeit und das für uns … Fazit: Kein neuer Besuch im SnS. Schade um den ganzen sch…

Scottish Gastropub in the Goldgasse. Loads of whiskies.
Food is pretty much OK. Fish and Chips as they should be (but didn’t have the mashed peas). I have not tried the Haggis so no comment there. Good location, prices are OK, cold Bitburgers always please. Decent selection of Scots whiskies for the adventurous.

Unfreundliche Bedienung, Gläser und Tische waren dreckig aber der Oberhammer ist eine Getränkekarte zu präsentieren die ihre bessten Tage schon lange hinter sich hat. Ich und meine Freunde kommen da nicht wieder hin !!

Wir waren zu dritt auf der Terrasse zu Gast. Gast? Eher haben wir uns gefühlt wie nicht Willkommen Karte wurde und erst auf Nachfrage gebracht diese war aber so schmutzig das wir diese nicht wirklich anfassen wollte. Wir bestellten 3 Eistee. Im Normalfall bekommt man diesen doch in sauberen Gläser? Hier nicht !!! Die Gläser werden im Glas angepasst und die Tische mit einem Handschlag gesäubert!
Ist das Hygienisch? Ich finde nicht!!!

Angenehme und empfehlenswerte Location!
Gut, es ist laut das liegt vielleicht am kommunikativen und stets gut gelaunten Besitzer der den Laden aber zu etwas besonderem macht.
Gute auswahl an Spirituosen zu Wiesbadener Preisen.
Bei Fussballübertragungen ist es dann richtig laut (mir persönlich ist es dann zu viel).
Essen überzeugt. Sypmatischer und sauberer Koch. Burger (kein Pressfleisch aus der TK) und Schnitzel haben mir am besten geschmeckt aber auch die Tageskarten sind abwechlungsreich und ansprechend. Frühstück ist eher mäßig.

Wenn ich gutes Fleisch essen will, dann geh ich nur noch hier her. Das ambiente ist echt cool gemacht und die Bedienung ist immer nett :)
Also ein Besuch lohnt sich auf jedenfall.

Am Samstag waren wir bei einem gemütlichen Stadtbesuch zum Abendessen im Scotch ‘N’ Soda, einem gemütlichen, schottischen Pub in der Wiesbadener Innenstadt.

AmbienteDas Pub ist gemütlich eingerichtet. Dunkle Holztische und Stühle, die Wände rundherum mit verschiedensten Whiskyflaschen geschmückt und eine große Bar gestalten das Untergeschoss. Außerdem gibt es mehrere Fernseher für Live​-Events​.Um uns herum saßen auch überwiegend englischsprachige Gäste, was das Feeling noch einmal verstärkte.
Dazu gibt es noch ein Obergeschoss, dieses habe ich mir allerdings nicht angeschaut.
Da gerade ein Fußballspiel übertragen wurde, war es recht voll im Pub, wir haben jedoch noch einen freien Tisch entdeckt und uns an diesem nieder gelassen. Das Fußballspiel war schlecht und somit konnten wir uns voll und ganz auf die Speisekarte konzentrieren.

SpeisekarteDiese enthält, neben einer großen Getränkeauswahl (verschiedene Biere/​Cider, natürlich Whisky, aber auch nicht-​alkoholisches und Cocktails) auch ein gutes Speisenangebot. Neben verschiedenen Nationalgerichten gibt es eine Auswahl verschiedener Burger, Schnitzel, usw.

Das Essen
Ich habe mich für ein Thunfischsteak und Red Snapper auf Tomaten-​Avocado-​Gemüse entschieden. Das Gemüse war frisch und sehr lecker, der Red Snapper ebenfalls. Das Thunfischsteak war leider zu stark durchgebraten, hat aber trotzdem geschmeckt. Das geht beim nächsten Mal vielleicht besser.
Meine Frau hatte einen Cheeseburger mit Pommes und Beilagensalat. Die Portion war sehr groß und sehr schmackhaft, der Burger gut belegt und gut gebraten. Auf Nachfrage haben wir noch etwas Ketchup dazu bekommen.

ServiceDie Servicekräfte sind sehr nett und zuvorkommend. Die Getränke und das Essen wurden schnell gebracht und auch Sonderwünsche gerne erfüllt.

FazitWer neben einer netten Atmosphäre und einer großen Getränkeauswahl auch noch gut (schottisch) essen möchte, dem kann ich das Scotch ‘N’ Soda nur empfehlen.
Wir waren sicher nicht zum letzten Mal dort.

Sehr gut für Leute die auf gutes Fleisch und Getränke stehen.
Man (n) bekommt dort Steaks die man im Rhein Main Gebiet suchen muss diese Fleisch ist sehr Zart und die Preise sind angemessen und OK.
Getränke; sind Ok und die preise passen.
Empfehlenswert auch für das Englisch sprachigen Mitmenschen Betreiber redet ein seh angenehmes DENGLISCH.

Das Scotch and Soda ist mein neuer Lieblings-​Irish Pub
geworden auch, wenn er nicht die typische verrauchte Kelleratmosphäre eines
ordentlichen Pubs aufweist. Die Preise sind zwar typischerweise für Wiesbaden
gehoben, aber in meinen Augen durchaus noch im Rahmen. Die Bedienungen sind
allesamt nett und die Auswahl an Getränken ist durchaus angenehm, auch wenn
nicht jeder Sonderwunsch erfüllt werden kann. Das Essen sieht immer sehr lecker
aus, aber ich bin noch nicht dazu gekommen es zu probieren. Das größte Manko für mich persönlich sind die Sport und
gerade Fußballübertragungen auf die ich wirklich verzichten könnte.

Ich gehe gerne hin, aber geil ist es nicht. War vielleicht insgesamt 7 mal da.
Vorteile:
+ Sky mit guter Stimmung und auf Wunsch Raucherbereich
+ überragende Burger, gute Steaks und eine große Auswahl an britischen Spezialitäten
+ man bekommt immer einen Platz
+ große Auswahl an Whiskey
Nachteile:
— sehr laut und rustikal
— Getränke müssen fast immer aktiv nachgefragt werden
— (Extra)Wünsche beim Essen müssen regelmäßig reklamiert werden
— Getränke fast übertrieben teuer, Essen absolut ok vom Preis
Alles in allem ein netter Laden mit gutem Essen und teuren Getränken.

This review is in response to the post made by RockstarKK on August 31, 2012. I replied directly to his message earlier today but he removed it. I guess the truth hurts. Here is my original post:
This post is so full of lies that I can barely believe it! We were at Scotch N’ Soda last night sitting right next to this man and his friend and what actually happened is far different then what he wrote.
Myself and my 4 other friends witnessed this nasty man scream at two different waitresses at the top of his lungs about having to wait for his meal. Aparently he didn’t like his first meal so they removed it from the table and he ordered something else. He said that if he had to wait for another 2 minutes then he was leaving. They brought him over his food and instead of starting to eat he continued to complain about his wait. The waitress tried to calmly explain that they don’t microwave their food so sometimes you have to wait a few minutes. He continued screaming out of control. And when I say screaming, I mean it. His face was bright red and veins were popping out on his forehead.
A second waitress finally came over to the table and removed his plate and told him that he didn’t need to pay for anything, to just please leave. He continued yelling and started saying he was going to call the police, which he did while siill sitting at the table. I guess he thought waiting for food is now a crime punishable by law. Finally, out of defense for these poor women, the bartender said to him that enough is enough, it’s time to leave. There was no aggression given on behalf of the staff only by this horrible man. No hands were ever once put on them. Then they finally went outside and waited for the police that he had called. They stood right in front of the window we were sitting at laughing and carrying on with each other like this was one big joke to them.
I couldn’t see this post and not share the truth of what actually took place. I think it’s horrible that people think that they can go to a restaurant and treat the staff that way. He also didn’t care one bit that he was disturbing all of the other customers with his screaming and abuse. One of the women at my table said that she was scared that he was going to start throwing things which made her afraid for her safety. I also think it’s pathetic that he now went online and lied about his actions. There is never an excuse for a man to speak to a woman (and in this case 2 women) like that. Instead of calling the police he should call a therapist to get some help with his obvious lying and anger issues.
To end on a happy note, all 5 of us loved our meals and thought as always the service was wonderful. Even with all that drama happening the waitresses kept giving us attention. We stayed for several more hours and had a wonderful night dispite this nasty mans actions.

Im Scotch n Soda gibt es sehr leckeres Essen
(die Spare Ribs sind eine echte Wucht) sowie eine große Auswahl an Bier und
Spirituosen (vor allem eine große Auswahl an Whisky). Wir wurden sehr nett
bedient und der Besitzer des Ladens ist ein echtes Unikat. Leider ist es drinnen
häufig sehr voll und es herrscht eine entsprechende Geräuschkulisse. Sehr
empfehlenswert v.a. für Leute die gerne gute Stimmung und eine belebte Atmosphäre
mögen.

Ich bin öfters hier zsm mit meine mädels mittagsessen oder abendessen oder auch mal einfach nach der uni was trinken zugehn, hat jedes mal geschmeckt und die portion und preise sind i.O. MA immer total freundlich.

Sehr cooler Laden, sehr gut zum Fußball schauen geeignet, Essen bis auf eine Ausnahme auch ganz gut. Burger war damals wirklich verkohlt, ihn so aus der Küche zu geben ist schon peinlich. Aber jeder macht mal Fehler ;-)

Endlich gibt es hier einmal etwas, dass an die beste britische Pub-​Tradition erinnert, die eben nicht nur laute Musik und viel Bier bedeutet:

Ein kommunikativer Wirt, der jeden Gast mit einem passenden Spruch bedenkt, dabei aber höflich, freundlich und unüberhörbar bleibt. Eine Auswahl an Bier (bis hin zum Kölsch!), die jeden Geschmack gerecht wird und zu guter Letzt eine Speisekarte in klasischer Bar-​Food-​Tradition: Schnell serviert, reichlich und lecker!

Bei der Atmosphäre gibt es guten Grund, die interessante Speisekarte nach und nach auszuprobieren. Der nächste Besich ist schon geplant

Um das Fußballspiel Köln-​Mainz sehen zu können, habe ich mich auf die Suche nach einer SKY-​Bar gemacht so landete ich in der Wiesbadener Altstadt und ärgere mich, dass mir diese tolle Bar nicht schon früher aufgefallen war.
Sehr nette Atmosphäre, wahnsinnig gutes Essen und überaus freundliche Bedienung.
Das wird auf keinen Fall mein letzter Besuch gewesen sein!

habe vor einer Woche hier gegessen und ich muß sagen 1. Sahne !
Ein Steak so groß wie ich es erwartet habe für einen Preis der in Wiesbaden wohl eher als günstig zu bezeichnen ist. Es war saftig und lecker.
Also jeder Zeit wieder hier am schönsten Platz Wiesbadens

Schottische Pub. Steaks so wie englisches Frühstück sind absolut die Besten, ultra freundliche Service, sehr gemütliche Ambiente. Jede Menge von Single Malts… Einfach 1A !

Went here for a pub quiz night, which was great fun, but was overshadowed by all the cigarette smoke they allowed inside. I had to leave after a subsequent asthma attack, so its unlikely that I will return.
On the plus side, the food and drinks were good (but not amazing). If you’re OK with smoking indoors, then it’s worth checking out.

Gestern wieder zum Essen dort gewesen. Ich hatte Fish & Chips und meine Frau Surf & Turf. Wieder begeistert gewesen. Zu den Fish & Chips gabs es (wie es sich auch gehört) warmes Erbspüree und Malzessig. Das Filetsteak bei dem Surf und Turf war nicht nur von guter sondern von ausgesrpochen guter Qualität. Das alles hat natürlich auch seinen Preis aber gutes Essen ist mir diesen Preis auch alle Mal wert.
Bei der ewigen Suche zur Nahrungsaufnahme sind wir im Scotch n Soda gelandet. Wir mögen die englisch/​schottische Küche also mussten wir es versuchen.
Erster Pluspunkt die Auswahl an Bieren. Ich hatte Murphy Stout und meine Frau ein Kilkenny. Gegessen haben wir 1x Irish Stew und ich hatte Haggis.
Irish Stew hat sehr gut geschmeckt war aber irgendwie eher wie eine Gulaschsuppe mit reichlich Einlage. Haggis hat auch sehr gut geschmeckt und die Beilage bestand aus einem Möhren/​Ingwermus und selbst gestampften Kartoffelmus. Es war wirklich lecker.
Für mich als Fan des Single Malts war aber der absolute Höhepunkt des Abends die Auswahl an Whisky. Als erstes einen Highland Park 18y/​o und einen Royal (Loch)Nagar. Beide waren absolute Klasse. Dann noch 2 andere gleicher Güte.
