Excellent fresh fish and seafood place in the Elisabethmarkt. Up until recently I had no idea this place existed and a local mentioned it in passing and I went looking for it. As it is right behind the Nordsee I initially thought this was a warehouse for the Nordsee. It’s nothing like that.
The shop is run by two guys and they are, or seem to be fishmongers or fisherman. They carry a limited daily stock and when the is out the choices are limited. Get here early for the best stuff or they will run out of most things by noon.
I was on the hunt for whole fish and this is where it was really nice. They had a whole tank of live fish and depending on size you want can fish them out of the tank and prepare it for you. I took a whole trout from here and it was the freshest fish I have had since being in Germany. The taste was fantastic and the meat was super tender and delicious.
This will definitely be my regular going forward. At last super fresh fish at reasonable prices :-)) what more can you want? Best to learn a bit of German if you want to communicate. No English at all here ;-)
