Saladins Souk

Everything about this store drew me inside. It’s a mixture of two wonderful things — fascination with the Middle Ages and fascination with the Middle East.
There is a special focus on the artisan crafts of the Middle Ages — construction (the owner mentioned he knows someone who can make trebuchets, and he himself has been involved with the construction of a new medieval castle in France!) as well as mead wines and other beverages and traditionally made ceramics. Then there is a wonderful assortment of books (mostly in Germany, unfortunately for me, but some were in English and some were in French) on the subject of medieval history, warfare, architecture and food.
For the Middle Eastern products there was dried food and soap and other items you would expect to find in an actual souk, as well as history books and cook books. Then, in addition to all this, there was a great assortment of medieval and Middle Eastern flavor music, a large selection of movies, educational DVDs and cool computer games.
I wanted everything!

Super schöner Laden!
Das Ambiente und die angebotenen Trockenfrüchte und Leckereien sind echt spitze. Es gibt wahnsinnig viel Auswahl und bei Nüssen, getrockneten Früchten und Beeren ist für jeden was dabei.
Was mir am besten gefällt: man kann erstmal schauen und dann ganz viel Neues ausprobieren.
Für alle Mittelalterfans ist der Laden auch zu empfehlen, da man viel rund um das Thema finden kann.
Alles in allem: mal ein etwas anderer Laden im netten Haidhausen.
