Rischart

It was first time here, and I do not speak German. I did not understand the way to order here so I decided to buy the sandwiches from the store on the first floor and wanted to bring them upstairs. On the second floor when I was about to seat. The server pointed her finger at us and refused to serve us. I would appreciate it if she just told us nicely instead of shouting at us. Very rude!

I really like the Rischart at Marienplatz, because you can go to the top and just watch the people go by. The food there is also fine, nothing special, but the «Schnittlauch-​Brezel» is a dream. It tastes so good, you’ve gotta try it. They also sell ice cream, but I wouldn’t recommend it, because it doesn’t taste that good, especially Vanilla. (my tip for ice cream: Eismeer /​located at Glockenbackviertel) All in one, it’s a nice place, but it can get very crowded since it is located at one of the most famous places in Munich.

Woah! This place is everywhere in Munich! And for good reason! Their Bavarian sandwich is my favorite but I’ve never ate anything bad here. I love trying their dessert pastries too!

I was in the Marienplatz in early April and grabbed a seat at the Rischart outside. Loved the experience. Busy place and was still able to snag a seat and have great views for people watching in the Marienplatz. We had the spaetzle and a salad. Delicious. I could see they had fabulous desserts and coffees, but we were full. The server was fast and managed a lot of tables. Fun place.

Best pretzel in town and most convenient place to pick it up. You can have it filled or plain and it is sold inside of the bakery or from the window outside. Located on the main place, this is perfect for a snack on the go.

Ich liebe Frühstück. Auf den großartigen Tip einer Unilocalerin hin (Danke dafür, Alex D!), habe ich meinen Besorgungs-​Samstag ganz gemütlich hier beginnen lassen. Um 8.00Uhr in der Früh war der Marienplatz noch ganz verschlafen und im Café konnte ich problemlos einen der Tische am Fenster mit Blick auf diesen nehmen. Ich fand das Personal durchgängig sehr nett und höflich. Besonders eine junge, scheinbar noch neue, Kellnerin, war wirklich bemüht und aufmerksam. Natürlich ging auch alles sehr zügig, schließlich war noch kaum etwas los.
Die Frühstücks Auswahl liest sich himmlisch, wenn mich auch zunächst die Preise etwas stocken ließen. Ich musste aber nicht lange überlegen und entschied mich für das
€ 8,60, — Bircher-​Power-​Frühstück
Bisher dachte ich, der Trachtenvogl hat einfach das beste Birchermüsli. Diese Meinung ist nun revidiert. Eine große Portion richtigen Birchermüslis mit reichlich frischem Obst stand da vor mir.
Dazu eine frische, saftige Mehrkornsemmel, wie man sie eben nur in einer richtigen Bäckerei bekommt, ein Stückchen Butter und eines dieser Mini Honiggläser. (Der Honig war lecker, aber mit einem Rischart Aufkleber versehen, ohne Info zur Herkunft. das fände ich eine schöné Ergänzung, da Rischart auch mit Umweltbewusstsein wirbt.)
Außerdem ein Glas (wirklich) frisch gepresster O-​Saft.
1 Stück dextro Energen, nette Idee, könnte man drauf verzichten
€ 4,10 ein Milchkaffee
Ja, ich dachte, hoppla, heftiger Preis für einen Kaffee. Aber: Zum einen ist es eine große Tasse, der Kaffee ist gut UND es wird einmal gratis nachgefüllt. Und zwar nicht nur schwarzer Kaffee aus der Thermoskanne, sondern jede Kaffee-​/​Tee– Spezialität
Ein wunderbarer Start in den Tag, eine entspannte Atmosphäre. Ich muss im Sommer unbedingt die Terrasse ausprobieren. Und die anderen Frühstücks Angebote. Und den Kuchen.

Freundliches Personal trotz vieler Gäste. Mein Ritual Himbeerschokokuchen und heiße Schokolade sind seit Jahren immer gleich köstlich geblieben und auch das restliche Menü ist sehr empfehlenswert (vor allem zum Brunch).
Das einzige was noch zu wünschen wäre sind mehr Saisonangebote im Menü. Ansonsten bleibt Rischart meine Lieblingskette zum brunchen!

Punkte Abzug leider wegen die unfreundliche Personal

Rischart is a busy café with lots of seating. Its weird as their are four counters with different cashiers selling similar things but not entirely identical. So when you enter, to the left, you can get coffees and baked goods and desserts. On the right, you can get artisan chocolates, baked goods, and fancy baked desserts. If you walk further in, you can also get coffee and a very limited number of baked goods.
There is more seating upstairs and you can sit inside and use the free munchen wifi.
The staff speak to you in German even if you speak to them in English. I said I wanted to have my apfel streusel and latte machiatto (which is a latte) to have here and she understood. However, I received a stone cold apfel streusel and luke warm coffee.
Again, is all coffee in Europe served at almost room temperature? The apfel strudel did nothing to warm up my icy fingers but it was delicious. Multiple layers of puff pastry lined with gooey apple sauce. It contained some raisins and a nut here and there. The coffee was made using an instant machine and was quite tasty for a machine coffee.
All up I paid € 5.20.

They have dine-​in on the upper floors, to-​go option, and a quick pitstop seating for a quick munch. They have a ton of pastries to choose from and it was pretty good. I got the apple turnover which was delicious. They had apples and raisins inside which surprisingly worked well together and of course the pastry was nicely layer and well balanced. I got a butter croissant as well and you can’t go wrong with croissants. They taste much better here in Europe than in the USA. The amount of layers they are able to pull off and the perfect crispy on the outside and soft and moist on the inside experience cannot be any better. This was a nice location as it was right across from the Glockenspiel (first animated mechanical clock) which starts it’s magic at 11:00am. This place only accepted cash as form of payment.

So-​so hot drinks. Good for people watching. Bathrooms coat 1 euro unless you’re a café customer!

Die Getränke sowie auch das Essen wurde relativ schnell geliefert. Der Kaiserschmarrn war aber leider kein Kaiserschmarrn. Ich denke das war ein fetiger aus dem Eimer. Die Bedienung war freundlich und aufmerksam. Die Lage des Cafés ist direkt am Marienplatz natürlich sehr gut, einen Kaiserschmarrn würde ich hier jedoch nicht wieder bestellen.

We had limited time in Munich and just wanted to grab a sandwich and get moving. We were also hungry, so that explains how we also grabbed a chocolate krapfen and a piece of mousse cake and a poppyseed pastry and two pretzels.
We had simple baguette sandwiches with ham, cheese, lettuce and some kind of herb/​mayo spread — not as good as in Paris but way better than any quick-​service sandwich place in the States.
If you walk up to the counters and get food and then try to sit down at the tables outside, a very long-​suffering waiter will chase you away as the tables are for sit-​down service only. Eat your sandwich while standing against the U-​Bahn entrance.

Noch vor einigen Monaten hätte ich dem Rischart am Marienplatz wohl einen Stern mehr gegeben, aber auch nur wegen dem «einst» perfekten Kaiserschmarrn. Ich war ein heimlicher Fan des Rischart-​Kaiserschmarrns und habe behauptet, dass es der Beste in ganz München ist. Anscheinend wurde die Rezeptur geändert, sodass er nun leider weniger als mittelmäßig schmeckt. Sehr eilastig und fettig — was ist da passiert?
Zugegebenermaßen, bis auf dieses Gericht und die tolle Lage (besonders der Balkon über dem Viktualienmarkt ist schon beeindruckend, vorallem wenn man Gäste zu Besuch hat und die Stadt erkunden will) hat es mich nicht in den überlaufenen Hot-​Spot am Marienplatz gezogen. Laut, voll und so viele unfreundliche Bedienungen dass man sich wundert, warum man freiwillig unter diesem Arbeitsklima dort arbeiten will — mir ist in meinen vielen vielen Besuchen wirklich nicht eine einzige freundliche Bedienung begegnet und das finde ich persönlich wirklich erschreckend. Zusammenfasstend sei gesagt: Zur Einkehr nach einer Stadtführung mit fremden Gästen ganz nett, als Münchner lieber einen weiten Bogen drumherum machen

Kuchen echt gut, Lage und Ausblick top…

Dort eine Auszogne gegessen und eine Nussschnecke zum mitnehmen. Sehr gut und meiner Meinung nach für Münchner Verhältnisse günstig. 4 Euro für beides.

Das Tiramisu und der Apfelstrudel, sind die beiden Dinge die meine mir Angetraute bei einem Innenstadtbesuch geradezu magisch in das Café Rischart hineinziehen und logischerweise begleite ich sie natürlich sehr gerne.
Doch, zu erst gilt es ein große Hürte zu überwinden, nämlich das finden eines Sitzplatzes. Der Laden ist, egal zu welcher Uhrzeit, nahezu immer Rampelvoll und wer ein Plätzchen erhaschen will, der muss zum Teil schon etwas Geduld aufbringen.
Um so mehr wundert es mich, dass der Servie des Café Rischart durchaus in der Lage ist, seine Gäste freundlich und zeitnah zu versorgen, die Tische schnell abzuräumen und zu reinigen! Hier können sich andere Cafes in der näheren Umgebung ein Beispiel daran nehmen (siehe meine Bewertungen).
Kommen wir aber zum wichtigsten:
Das Tiramisu ist wunderbar fluffig leicht und schmeckt einfach fantastisch, ach was soll ich sagen, es ist einfach ein Traum.
Der Apfelstrudel, hauchdünner, leicht knuspriger Strudelteig, eine Riesenschicht feine leicht säuerliche Äpfel, nicht übergart oder überzuckert, sondern genau in der richtigen Konsistenz und dem Geschmack wie für uns so ein Apfelstrudel schmecken muss. Auf die Vanillesoße kann ich hier gerne verzichten. Lieber ein Schlag Sahne dazu, mmmmh.
Ein guter Kaffee oder eine angebotenen Kaffespezialitäten dazu, Herz was willst du mehr.
Das Preis– Leistunsverhältnis ist für mich, angesichts der Lage und Qualität absolut in Ordnung.
Wir werden ganz sicher wieder kommen…

Also im Gegensatz zu manch anderen Bäckereien finde ich schon das die belegten Brote und Semmeln echt gut sind sehr umfangreich und gut belegt. Somit sind sie auch ihr Geld wert. Nicht alle Brote treffen meinen Geschmack dennoch vergebe ich 5 Sterne weil jeder Geschmack ist schließlich verschieden. Ich hatte gerne einen rischard in meiner Nähe

Ziemlich doof der Laden sieht von außen gut aus. Pink kann man aber nur in der 2. Etage und mit Chip. Ziemlich umständlich für eine Weltstadt

Ich kann hier eigentlich schreiben, was ich will — bei der Lage ist der Laden sowieso schnell rappelvoll. Heute, an einem Ferien-​Freitag, sogar schon um 9 Uhr. Von hier aus starten viele zum shopping in der Kaufinger Straße (Fußgängerzone).
Die Bedienung ist freundlich und professionell. Den Cappuccino für € 4,10 fand ich aber erstens etwas zu teuer, und dann auch nicht besonders gut. Sehr milchig, der Kaffee kein Espressogeschmack, und beim Schaum vermute ich, dass mit Emulgatoren nachgeholfen wird, denn er ist auch noch nach einer halben Stunde sehr steif.
Also: Ich würde mir einen besseren Cappuccino wünschen.

Came here on a rainy day in Münich looking for some inexpensive food to have before heading back to Berlin and this place fit the bill. For what I went for, the filling part definitely happened but besides the bread, I wasn’t thrilled about the rest of my food. I ordered the American breakfast and it came with bacon and scrambled eggs, lots of bread and jams etc. The eggs were fine and but the bacon was almost all fat and really not that edible. It was slimy and greasy and although sometimes that is good, I could barely eat any of it because it was so chewy and hard to swallow. I really would recommend getting coffee and cake here or lunch because my friends got the Weisswurst and a goulash soup and that looked much more appetizing.

Kuchen und Gebäck sind von außergewöhnlich guter Qualität, wie man sie z. B. bei Dallmayr schon lange nicht mehr bekommt. Torten und Kuchen kommen hier tatsächlich ohne Fertigteigmischung aus. Auch Kaffees und heiße Schokolade sind von erlesenem Geschmack. Dass man an einem solchen Ort über 4 Euro für ein Stück Kuchen im Café bezahlt, ist nachvollziehbar. Wer sich darüber aufregt, sollte an der Theke kaufen und zu Hause speisen.
Zu uns war man immer höflich und zuvorkommend. Es ist wirklich erstaunlich, wie souverän die Kellner mit dem täglichen Massenansturm fertig werden.
Wer das Gute an einem besonderen Ort sucht, kommt hier auf seine Kosten. Meine Frau fand die Torten sogar besser als die im Sacher in Wien.

Come for the Krapfen, stay for everything else.
Honestly, that’s how I was drawn in — the wonderful, colorful display of Fasching Krapfen varieties available at Rischart. (For the non-​Germans/​Americans — Fasching is the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday/​the beginning of Lent, and Krapfen are like filled doughnuts — there are many different varieties of fillings). This was one of the first locations that caught my eye after moving to Munich, so this one will receive the review. Really, if you see a Rischart, you can’t go wrong.
I’ve since had one of each of their different Krapfen varieties for Fasching, and all were amazing. By now, I have additionally tried several of their pastries too, all amazing. They also make good Brezen/​Brezel/​Pretzel (Bavarian/​German/​English, respectively), and are good for a quick snack on the go. Usually if I know that I have to get a snack while out and about, I will typically hold out for Rischart, of Munich’s home grown bakeries.

What can I say? It’s Café Rischart, a Munich icon. Once, I was amazingly lucky and got a perfect seat with the best view of Marienplatz possible. The Krapfen are amazing! It’s a must visit.

Die angebotenen Backwaren sind nach wie vor so gut wie der nette Service.
Allerdings wünsche ich mir mehr Abwechslung: jahrein, jahraus gibts immer dieselben Sachen. Und der Milchkaffee zu € 2,20 ist auch seeeeehr milchlastig geworden, der Espresso kaum schmeckbar.

An sich bin ich ein Fan der vielen Köstlichkeiten aus der Backstube des Rischart. Heute aber war ich von der Dampfnudel in Vanillesoße richtig enttäuscht, die uns im Café im ersten Stock serviert wurde: die Nudel aufgewärmt, die Vanillesoße lack und lauwarm mit einem derart künstlichen Aroma, dass ich nach drei Bissen aufgegeben habe. Dazu mittelmäßiger Service bei doch überschaubarem Betrieb in den späten Stunden. Man wird halt wie ein Tourist behandelt, leicht von oben herab. Bei den happigen Preisen schmeckt’s gleich nochmal weniger! — Rischart, das könnt ihr besser! (BTW: der Germknödelkrapfen ist ein Traum!)

Supermegalecker, alles frisch und kross und die haben einfach ALLES. Ich liebe es.

Direkt am Marienplatz gelegen ist dieser Rischart immer stark frequentiert. Heute sind wir noch schnell zum Aufwärmen nach dem Christkindlmarkt rein. Am Fenster zum Platz raus waren alle Fenster besetzt, so dass wir uns nach hinten setzten. Zwar auch am Fenster, aber kein besonders schöner Blick nach draußen. Aber das war heute auch zweitrangig.
Es dauerte etwas bis wir bedient wurden. Aber unser Kaiserschmarrn á lá Rischart sowie unsere Getränke kamen recht zügig. Der Kaiserschmarrn mit Eierlikör und karamellisierten Walnüssen war ein Traum.
Aber das Stühle hochstellen, um die Gäste um 20 Uhr «raus zu schmeißen» kostet einen Stern. Fand es dann sehr ungemütlich.

If this place is open, it is slammed. During our 5 days in Munich, we came here 3 times and braved the small crowd because we just could not get enough of their pretzel. It sounds absolutely ridiculous, but even once we returned home, when asked our favorite food it was definitely the pretzel from this silly little market/​convenience bakery. The pretzel was so soft and salty, but also stuffed with cream cheese and chives. They also have a HUGE selection of other pastries and bakery items, plus sandwiches and other meal items.
The location is so simple to get to and located right next to the Marienplatz station and Glockenspiel. It was fun to grab our food and go eat next to the Glockenspiel to people watch and see the instrument turn and play.

This is a solid 3.
I like their custard/​cream bread and their coffee tastes like DD’s. The staff were polite and helpful. They also have a sit down place upstairs if you want to hang out.
My only regret is I should have explored the other bakeries and cafes around Marienplatz.

Ich gehe hierhin in der Regel zum Frühstück. Von der ersten Etage aus hat man einen schönen Blick auf den Marienplatz. Leider ist es immer entsprechend voll und hektisch. Die Qualität der Speisen ist hervorragend und die Bedienungen normalerweise trotz des Stress sehr freundlich. Wenn man das XXL-​Frühstück für 2 Personen nimmt, dann kostet es ca. EUR 30.- für 2 mit Getränken. Man schafft es niemals und wir nehmen immer noch das Brot usw für zu Hause mit.

Der orangefarbene Rischart-​Stand, in den Tiefen des U-​Bahnhofs Marienplatz versteckt, versorgt mich jeden Morgen auf dem Weg zum S-​Bahnsteig mit gutem Kaffee (Becher € 1,95) und einer großen Auswahl an diversen belegten Semmeln, Sandwiches, Brezn etc. Die Damen hinter der Theke sind trotz meines frühmorgendlichen Besuchs immer freundlich und gut gelaunt.

Ich war vor einigen Tagen wieder beim Rischart am Marienplatz und habe mir 6 Krapfen zum Mitnehmen geholt. Rischart hat zur Faschingszeit nämlich eine wahnsinnig große Auswahl an den leckersten Krapfen in München! Zu Auswahl gehören Bienenstich-​, Tiramisu-​, Schwarzwälder-​, Schokobananen-​, Vanille-​, Eierlikör-​, Himbeer-​, normaler Schokokrapfen und noch mehr! Der Vanillekrapfen ist und bleibt hierbei aber mein absoluter Favorit! Auch wenn die Krpafen teurer als anderwo sind (Preisspanne pro Krapfen: 2.20 — 2.40 €), sind diese trotzdem mindestens einen Versuch wert! Man wird es nicht bereuen ;)

Good variety of pastries particularly the Bavarian crème filled kind. We tried the Black Forest as well as the chocolate and vanilla pastries all of which were delectable with the perfect sweetness.

Vorsicht, ich hatte mir im Café einen Kuchen an der hinteren Theke gekauft, an der so weit ich weiß Getränke und Kuchen für den verzehr im Café verkauft werden, schließlich kam der Kuchen ja auf einen Teller). Als ich mich hingesetzt hatte kam eine resolute Bedienung und teilte mir mit das ich hier nicht sitzen kann;-)

Komischer Laden

I’ve stayed away from pastry for the past few months in an attempt to keep my belly smaller, but you can’t ignore the baked goods in Munich. Impossible!!! I dove head first into Rischart’s amazing Nussbrezel and a Vanille Krapfen, and easily would have put back a dozen others.
I took them «zum Mitnehmen» (to go) as the place is crazy, crowded, and not really comfortable, but the quality if the baked goods was great.

This place is always busy with people crowded around the counters and displays. Rischart has an amazing fidelio torte which has a raspberry jelly topping with raspberry sauce within the cake. The cake was tender, and not too sweet. It was probably the best piece of cake I’ve had in our Europe trip, having tried cakes from shops in Austria, as well. There seems to be a hit or miss trend with the other cakes, though. The chocolate cake with raspberry topping had a good jelly topping, but the cake was soggy. The datchi (Bavarian plum cake) had a dry and rather tough crust.
Moving on to their sandwich selection, I was impressed. They have a large variety of bread (pretzel, baguette, etc), fillings (ham, vegetarian, others which I could not read), and spreads. You can’t go wrong there, everything is delicious!

Beautiful location in the middle of Munchen, I spent an afternoon sitting by a fountain eating a delicious piece of cake the size of my head.
It was cheap as well!
Open late for absolute pigs like myself, who won’t let the 6pm closing streak stop us from inhaling our cake.

Near the Munich S-​Bahn (train) station, we found this nice shop to be open late when most other cafes were already closed for the evening
Being tasked to hunt down an English newspaper for Daddy, Mom also tasked the Mr & me w/​finding something yummy for dessert… but this was harder than it seemed given the late hour
Well, after taking the train a couple of stops to the International Papershop, on our way back we see Rischart as we top the stairs of the station
There were still a goodly number of cakes & pastries available & we selected a Strawberry-​Rhubarb for Mom & the Mr & I chose the Bavarian Cream Cake for ourselves… afterall, couldn’t NOT get something after all that running around!
Mom said the Strawberry-​Rhubarb was incredibly delish & nice & sweet — the strawberries were tender & perfectly in season & the nice & tart rhubarb complimented it extremely well
Our Bavarian Cream Cake was custardy & the pastry part of the cake was soft & had a hint of vanilla flavor — very nice indeed!
Thanks for being open, for offering takeaway, & for your super-​nice staff who joked around w/​us about the pronunciation of rhubarb

A take on the Vienna cafes… busy, big and loads of yummy pastry. I had the Hollander Kirsch Spezial and it was excellent as was the pancake. Coffee is also good.

the farmers market is just outside and it is so full of meat you will leave with something coronary oriented! the space is upstairs and has nice outdoor seating although limited. the downstairs part is a bakery i think

First off, BEWARE! FINDING SEATING IS LIKE FINDING A NEEDLE IN A HAYSTACK. This place gets crowded and you have to look out for an empty table if you want to sit. The coffee’s are good and the cakes are creative and flavorful, though a bit heavy but that’s partially our fault on what we ordered. The service is decent, but because they are so busy you often feel rushed and it may take a while to get the check. It’s a bit hard to relax in this environment, but if you’re feeling like sitting down and enjoying some cake this place will do the trick.
