Mellow Cafe

After a full day of urban adventures, we were looking to just have some warm, belly-​filling food and a beer. We were still in our hiking shoes, so the white tablecloth experience was not appealing… nor was a trendy bistro attitude with an overly complicated and high-​priced menu.
This unassuming little place fit the bill perfectly, and surprisingly served some of the best goulash I’ve ever had (and I’ve traveled a little in eastern europe). We got both the bavarian style (made with dark beer) and the hungarian style (made with paprika peppers), and they were both very solid, savory and delicious meals. The prices could not be beat, but the dishes were enjoyed were good at any price point.
We were there after sundown, so maybe it wasn’t quite as cheery-​looking as during the day. The ambience was not posh, but comfortable… if you’ve not totally grown out of your bohemian college days. There were potted bushes to screen from the street, a candle on the table and the furnishings were modest but comfortable.
The only thing I would say is that the umbrellas could really have used a washing… but it was kind of understandable because it had been raining the day before, and there were trees above. We thought it was great!

Waren zum Tatort schauen dort. Die Location an sich war recht gemütlich. Es gibt einige gepolsterte Stühle und Sessel, obwohl wir noch zwei ungepolsterte erwischt hatten. Das Essen war auch okay, nichts weltbewegendes, aber für den Preis okay. Die große HD Leinwand war dafür super. Der Sound aus einer Box in der Ecke auch noch okay. Leider wurden aufgrund des günstigen Preise auch einige Stammgäste angelockt, die sich etwas störend verhalten haben.

Auf den ersten Blick wirkt das Mellow wegen der sehr unsystematischen Einrichtung (diverse unterschiedliche Kombinationen verschiedener Tische und Stühle) etwas unprofessionell, aber gerade deshalb sympathisch. Die günstigen Preise für Essen und Trinken, anscheinend ausgerichtet auf die Studenten der Hochschule auf der anderen Straßenseite, und die sehr freundliche Bedienung bringen weitere Sympathie-​Punkte und somit völlig verdient fünf Sterne. :-)
