La Cucina

We went here for a late Sunday brunch and was initially a little confused as to how stuff worked. They have a weekend buffet that costs 18 euros — a little on the expensive side for us. There wasn’t really a lot of information, but after asking we got the «serve yourself once» for 11 euros, with coffee\other drink included. This suited our purposes perfectly and we were very happy with the buffet which could offer homemade rolls, bread, spread, quiche, cake and more. If we had had time for a long meal having the full buffet would definitely have been worth it too! My only complaint here is really the lack of\confusing information, apart from that a great experience! It seemed they had other alternatives as well as the buffet, just ask!

Leckerer Mittagstisch (ich weiß gar nicht, ob’s auch noch ‘né Karte mit Essen gibt…) heute gab’s Gnocci mit Tomatensauce, überbacken mit Mozzarella — davor einen Apetizer und einen kl. Kuchen danach).

Die hübsche und verspielte Inneneinrichtung lockte uns in den Laden, da wir gemütlich einen Kaffee trinken wollten. Wir suchten uns Plätze und wurden erstmal ignoriert. Irgendwann wurde das Gespräch, in das eine der zwei Servicekräfte vertieft war, doch beendet und unsere Bestellung aufgenommenen. Der Kaffee kam bald, aber richtig gemütlich wurde es nicht. Das Radio plärrte und die Geräusche der offenen Küche machten es anstrengend sich ruhig zu unterhalten.
Zum Kaffee bestellte ich einen Kuchen. Der war so hart, dass ich Schwierigkeiten hatte Stücke abzubekommen. Dazu gab es Sprühsahne… Ich hatte Hunger und eigentlich war der Kuchen auch ganz lecker, aber er hätte die Küche nicht verlassen dürfen. Immerhin bekam ich auf meine Nachfrage mehr Sahne (anders war das trockene Ding nicht runter zu bekommen). Fairer Weise wurde der Kuchen und die Extrasahne nicht berechnet, obwohl ich alles aufgegessen hatte.

Right in the middle of the old town of Lübeck sits this great little café. We went there for brunch on our last day in the city and it was a worthy ending to a fun trip.
The furniture is a random mix of different wooden chairs and tables, in bright colours in cottage style. Fittingly, no cup or plate in this place looks the same.
Now to the most important part: the brunch buffet. You get the choice of a small breakfast, where you get to load up your plate once and the full buffet experience. Needless to say, we went all in. From homemade rolls, with homemade jam, to salmon with homemade dips, quiche, antipasti or eggs, the buffet table was filled with great delicacies. As a little bonus, you get all you can drink coffee or tea.
The warm and friendly owner (?) deserves a special mention. Despite the fact that she was cooking replacements for the buffet and waiting on the entire place by herself, she still managed to hold a little small talk with all guests.
Overall, this place cannot possibly be beat for a great brunch in Lübeck.

Schade, dass noch kein Beitrag zu La Cucina hier erschienen ist. Naja, das Restaurant ist ja auch noch relativ neu.
Die Küche ist sehr abwechslungsreich und der Service flott und freundlich. Die Mischung des Angebotes aus mediterraner und internationaler Küche hat mich begeistert. Man merkt, dass die Inhaberin Spaß an ihrem Lokal hat. Der Mittagstisch ist abwechlungsreich und für 7,50 EUR mit inklusive Nachtisch auf jeden Fall einen Besuch wert. Kochkurse gibt es. La Cucina scheint mir ein modernes Restaurant mit Engagement zu sein. Ich werde es weiterhin auf die Probe stellen und hingehen.
