Mr. Cherng

Qualität hat leider meiner Meinung in den Jahren nachgelassen. Ich habe nach langer Pause wieder mal abends hier eingekehrt. Sushi-​Auswahl magerer und der Reis sehr trocken, mongolischer Grillgut in Soße getränkt. Knoblauchsoße schmeckt überhaupt nicht nach Knoblauch. Es gibt leider sehr viele bessere Alternativen, sodass wir erst mal nicht mehr hier einkehren werden.
Es könnte auch darunter liegen, dass wir unter der Woche Abends da waren. Es war nicht so brechend voll wie sonst, aber genug Leute waren schon da.

Sehr große Sushi-​Auswahl und (fast zu) aufmerksame Bedienung (es wird sehr schnell abgeräumt). Das Ambiente ist OK und der Preis stimmt auch.

Mal wieder zieht das Personal und der Service den Stecker! Klasse essen für niedrigen Preis, tolles Ambiente eigentlich stimmt alles aber wenn die Teller einfach auf den Tisch geklatscht werden, oder unter dem Kinn weggeräumt werden ist es es Iwie blöd! Die Küche wirkt überlastet bei dem Andrang und man hat irgendwie Mitleid, dass man dort essen geht! Aber sonst läuft!

Seit sehr vielen Jahren frequentiere ich nun schon diesen Laden. Ich stürze mich dabei immer auf die große Sushi-​Auswahl. Besonders gut gefällt mir, dass hier stetig aufgefüllt wird, so dass man immer ganz frisch zubereitetes Sushi genießen kann. Generell kann man hier so viel essen wie man möchte, bleibt allerdings ein Stück auf dem Teller zurück, zahlt man dieses. Das finde ich großartig, denn in unserer Wegwerfgesellschaft neigen meiner Meinung nach ohnehin zu viele Menschen dazu, sich die Teller voll zu laden, auch wenn sie es gar nicht aufessen (können) — nur, weil es im Preis inbegriffen ist.
Das mongolische Buffet (so bezeichne ich den Teil der frischen Zutaten, die man sich selbst zusammenstellt und dann mit einer Soße zubereiten lässt) finde ich vielfätig und abwechslungsreich. Zugegeben: ich bin nicht so die Experimentierfreudige und bleibe meist bei der gleichen Auswahl — never change a winning team — aber wenn man wollte, könnte man hier gut und gerne einmal die Woche ein ganzes Jahr lang eine andere Kombination ausprobieren — Langeweile kommt da nicht auf.
Auch beim Nachtisch wird mein Geschmack genau getroffen. Gebackene Banane mit Honig, Wackelpudding in rot oder grün mit Vanillesoße und natürlich das unfassbar leckere Sesameis. Wer es nicht kennt oder noch nicht probiert hat: es ist das graue Eis. Ja, die Farbe könnte ansprechender sein, aber der Geschmack ist einfach unschlagbar!
Zum Mittagstisch war ich noch nicht hier, denn ich brauche immer sehr viel Zeit, um alle Köstlichkeiten bei Mr Cherng zu genießen.
Fazit: auch gerade mit Gruppen ein ganz tolles Lokal, das nach dem Umbau noch mehr gewonnen hat.

Ins Mr. Cherng wollte ich schon lang einkehren. Jetzt habe ich es endlich spontan mal gemacht.
Vor allem ist das Restaurant eine beliebte Nalaufstelle für die All-​Yoe-​Can-​Eat-​Liebhaber. Das Restaurant ist sehr gut besucht und man sollte zu den Stoßzeiten unbedingt reservieren.
Die Auswahl ist sehr groß und bietet zwei Schwerpunkte.
Ein Schwerpunkt sind die Sushi-​Variationen, die sehr zahlreich sind. Die Qualität ist für ein AYCE-​Buffet gut. Es gibt hier keine «verspielten» Sushi-​Kreationen, die in einigen Restaurants als «Special-​Rolls» angeboten werden, aber das wäre auch zuviel verlangt.
Der zweite wesentliche Teil ist eine Art Mongolisches Buffet. Hier sucht man sich rohe Zutaten (Gemüse, Fisch, Fleisch (auch Känguru)) aus und bringt sie zu einer Durchreiche zur Küche. Dazu wählt man eine von 13 Soßenvarianten. Das Gericht wird dann zubereitet und an den Tisch gebracht.
Daneben gibt es auch noch ein paar Dim Sums, Mantou, Ente und Chicken Wings… und ein paar Soßen.
Der Nachtisch ist ebenso Vielseitig. Sesambällchen mit Rote-​Bohnen-​Paste, gebackene Bananen, Schmalzgebäck, Früchte, süße Soßen und als kleines Highlight auch Eis (Sesam ist zu empfehlen).
Das Ganze gibt es abends für aktuell 16,90 €. Preis-​Leistung stimmt hier absolut.
Die Bedienung ist trotz der Menschenmenge immer freundlich und geduldig. Auch für Fragen haben die Bedienungen Zeit. Es ist alles sehr gut organisiert und durchgetaktet, ohne dass es «mechanisch» wirkt.
Das Mr. Cherng kann ich empfehlen. Man sollte allerdings sehr großen Hunger mitbringen.

Einer meiner lieblingsrestaurants es macht einfach süchtig. Die Teller kommen immer lecker saftig und frisch zubereitet zum Tisch. Zwischendurch bedient man sich dann an den Fertiggerichten meine Favoriten chicken Wings die schön knusprig sind und die frühlingsrollen alles ist immer schön heiß und wird so schnell es geht immer nachgefüllt das Personal ganz lieb hatte bis jz noch keine Probleme. :)
Das Eis schmeckt super lecker und diesen knusprigen Kuchen bzw das Gebäck ist göttlich mit Vanillin Sauce dazu am Ende bin ich dann immer so voll und denke mir nie wieder mehr und 2 Tage später hat man wieder so Lust auf mr. Cherng

Wir waren in der Mittagspause gerne mal bei Mr Cherng, die Auswahl ist groß und es schmeckt wirklich gut, Sushi gibt es auch in einer guten Qualität.
Abends ist die Sushi Auswahl noch größer und es gibt noch ein mongolisches Büffet, wo man sich selber etwas zusammen stellen kann.
Warum also die schlechte Bewertung?
Als wir die letzten male in der Mittagspause da waren gab es eine Art Aufpasser am Sushi Büfett, der hat darauf geachtet, dass man sich nur zwei Stücke Sushi auf den Teller tat. Ich war überrascht als ich mir arglos sechs verschiedene Makis auf den Teller tat und ich sowas von unfreundlich angemeckert wurde. Ich finde dieses Benehmen sowas von dreist und peinlich, weshalb ich diesen Laden nicht mehr betreten möchte, denn das geht gar nicht.
Zwei Sterne gibt es für das gute Essen.

Ich war jetzt zum ersten Mal an einem Abend zum all you can eat bei Mr. Cherng und habe mich fast ausschließlich ans Sushi gehalten. Mir hat es sehr gut geschmeckt — recht große Auswahl, sehr frisch und in meinen Augen qualitativ sehr hochwertig. Es wurde ständig nachgelegt, so das es nie zu leeren Auslagen kam und alle Sorten jederzeit frisch zur Verfügung standen. Das übrige Buffet war nicht ganz so vollständig, wie ich es von anderen Restaurants mit ähnlichem Angebot kenne. Diese frittierten Hühnchen– oder Ententeile sind eh nicht so meines. Mir persönlich zu fett und deswegen zu schnell sättigend. Die Wokgerichte, die man sich selber nach Auswahl des Fleisches, Gemüses und der gewünschten Soße braten lassen konnte, waren nach Aussage meiner Begleitungen sehr lecker. Es gab eine kleine Auswahl an Süßspeisen: Gebackene Bananen, Obstsalat und Götterspeise mit Vanillesoße und einige Sorten Eis. Ausgesprochen freundlich und sehr fix war der Service. Leere Teller wurden sofort abgeräumt und Getränkewünsche konnten jederzeit geäußert werden. Für 16,90 € insgesamt ein recht gutes Preis– Leistungsverhältnis. Leider war es aufgrund der Größe des Restaurants und der Fülle ein wenig Laut und die Toiletten hätten ein wenig sauberer sein können. Trotzdem komme ich sehr gerne wieder und kann das Restaurant guten Gewissens weiterempfehlen.

Wir sind Stammgäste seit langer Zeit. Sushiliebhaber sind hier im Paradies. Die warmen fertigen Gerichte sind nicht mein Fall, dafür ist die Auswahl zum frischen braten groß und für jeden ist etwas dabei. Freundlich, schnelle Bedienung und sauber. Allerdings ist der Service mittlerweile etwas masseorientiert und man wird zum zeitigen gehen gedrängt. Wir gehen trotzdem gern und werden es auch weiter tun

Wer Sushi liebt ist hier goldrichtig. Wir waren mit 8 Leuten abend zum Alle you can eat — Buffet hier. Das Sushiangebot ist hier echt super, so eine große Auswahl habe ich noch nie bei nem All you can eat –Asiaten gesehen.
Leider gehöre ich zu den Menschen, die nicht gerne Sushi essen… und das restliche Buffet hat mich leider nicht so umgehauen. Das chinesische Buffet, also die fertigen Gerichte wie Hühnchen Süß Sauer, war ziemlich klein. Und das frische Buffet, welches man zum Live Cooking bringt, war zwar ganz ok, aber da hab ich schon diverse bessere bei anderen Mongolen gesehen.
Fazit: Für Sushi Liebhaber super, für ein chinesisch /​mongolisches Buffet nicht
Preise waren ok, Ambiente nett, Personal auch.

Bis vor einiger Zeit dachte ich beim Vorbeigehen immer: Touri-​Nepp, immer voll, riesengroß, das kann ja nix sein. Seitdem ich hier mittags essen gehe, denke ich das nicht mehr! ;)
Ich mag’s mittags eher auch gern schnell, groß, eng und laut, abends dafür eher ruhiger und kleiner (was die Speisen– als auch die Restaurantgröße angeht). Also ist Mr. Cherng zwangsläufig eine absolute Mittagsempfehlung von mir! Auch wenn ich die Erzählungen vom Wok-​Menü, welches abends an den Tisch gebracht wird, sehr interessant finde, hat’s mich hier abends noch nie hin verschlagen.
Für 10,90 Euro bekommt man mittags ein AYCE-​Buffet mit allerbesten, frischestem Sushi und Nigiri, die andauernd nachgefüllt werden (California-​Rolls mit leckeren Variationen, Lachs, Thuna, vegetarisch etc. pp.) UND: Auch die warmen Speisen schmecken wirklich frisch, knusprig, gut gewürzt und damit deutlich besser, als bei vielen anderen asiatischen Buffets. Vorweg eine Suppe und am Schluss 1 – 2 gebackene Bananen und abends braucht man wirklich nicht mehr als né Möhre und né Paprika. Und nachmittags ein paar Kaffee, um durchzuhalten… ;)
Zum Service kann ich wenig sagen, außer: Man wird so schnell wie es geht an einen freien Tisch gewiesen (mit Pech muss man mal ein paar Minuten warten), bezahlt wird an der Kasse beim Gehen.
Abends würde ich wohl wegen des Ambiente keine fünf Sterne vergeben, für mittags aber absolut: «Wow! Besser geht’s nicht!» :)

Typisches Sushi + Asia Buffet (Mix) wie man es aus Amerika kennt. Die Auswahl ist hier für deutsche Verhältnisse relativ groß(für amerikanische ja eher klein), die Speisen alle frisch und der Laden ist für ein Buffet Restaurant noch sehr sauber. Allerdings war ich von den Toiletten etwas enttäuscht als wir da waren. Seife und Tücher zum Hände abtrocknen beiden leer! Die Bedienungen waren nicht durch die Bank weg freundlich, leider. Die 4 Punkte graade noch so aufgrund der guten Qualität des Essens

Leider ist hier das Sushi nicht so lecker, teilweise fällt der Reis auseinander und eine Große Auswahl gibt es beim Sushi auch nicht.
Der Preis ist in ok und die Auswahl an anderen Gerichten auch.
Das Personal schien genervt von den Gästen zu sein, und war demensprechend im Verhalten, daher ein Punkt abzug.

All youcan eat, Sushi und frisches chinesisches Essen, super Dessert. Das Sesam Eis ist sehr zu empfehlen.

Die Erwartungshaltung war schon ein wenig höher, der dritte All-​you-​can-​Eat im Umfeld, dessen Mittagstisch noch ein klein wenig teurer ist als bei den anderen, mit 9,90 € zwei Euro mehr als die anderen, die auch noch eher unterirdisch sind.
Auf den Bildern hier sah das Buffet besser aus, etwas besser aufbereitet und ein wenig breiter im Angebot. Eine Hälfte wartet mit einer Auswahl an Suhsi, die andere mit chineischem oder thailändischen Variationen von Fleisch, Gemüsen, Reis, Fisch und Appetizern. Es gibt auch hier noch eine Frischküche, die ich aber nicht ausprobiert habe. Daneben noch Salat, der übliche grobe Süßkram wie gebackene Bananen, Obstsalat, Eis, Glibberpudding,
Es schmeckt zwar, ist aber auch keine besonders herausragende Küche, sondern hat eher durchschnittliche Asia-​Imbiss Qualität. Positiv muss man hier aber den äußerst aufmerksamen und flinken Service erwähnen, ebenso wird das Buffet gut im Auge behalten und zeitnah aufgefüllt und gesäubert.
Ich empfand den Laden als ziemlich laut — war auch eher gut besucht — und hin und wieder zu voll am Buffetrundgang.
So mancher könnte hier ganz glücklich werden, mancher nur begrenzt euphorisch.

Saisonauftakt unserer monatlichen Herbst/​Winter Restauranttour, und es sollte wie immer ins Mr. Cherng gehen: o) Sushi und mongolischer Grill satt für 16,90 €, da kann man nichts falsch machen.
Preis/​Leistung finde ich es super und die Begrüßung war wie immer nett. Leider war der Service wieder ziemlich gestresst, die Getränke und das Essen vom Grill wurden oft auf den Tisch «geknallt» oder das Gespräch durch ein unschönes «HALLO!!!» unterbrochen, kann ich aber verstehen, ist manchmal schwer auf sich aufmerksam zu machen wenn alle im Gespräch sind. Leider wurden anscheinend auch (2) Getränke vergessen zu bringen (bei einer Gruppe von 30 bekommt man sowas ja leider erst mit wenn das Restaurant im Nachgang anruft und sagt «da ist noch was offen», man alle anschreibt und einer sagt: ich habe zwar die Spezi bestellt, jedoch nie bekommen. Schwammdrüber, passiert, beim nächsten Mal wird direkt bezahlt. Zum Saisonende werden wir selbstverständlich wieder her kommen, Traditionen soll man nicht brechen.

The Chinese waiter who served our table is definitely a rude clown. Since the name of the restaurant is apparently a Chinese one, and we saw quite a few Chinese staff in this restaurant, we thought there should be Chinese food on the menu. So we asked for a menu in Chinese or English, and this guy treated us with really awful attitude and told us to go somewhere else to eat. We decided to leave the restaurant and made our comment about this guy to other staff. The waiter rushed out and yelled at us with dirty words and threatened to beat my wife! I wish he really had that guy to do that, cause once he start the fight, I will have the opportunity to teach him a lesson of manners. I doubt that he would behave like this to local customers too.
真是令人大为恼火的饭店！进门无任何人礼貌接待，然后有一个年龄较大，瘦高的老服务生，非常无礼蛮横！因为是店名是中国人的，店员也是中国人，所以看过德文菜单后，我们问有没有中文或英文菜单，他竟然说如果你想吃点心请去火车站附近的中国饭馆！可是我并没有说我想吃点心啊～而且他的态度充满嘲笑和轻蔑！更震惊的是，我们决定不吃并且投诉他的态度后，他竟然追了出来骂我们，还要打我们！这里是德国，还能发生这种事情！而且还是中国人对自己同胞如此！另外他们自助餐的食物种类很少！也不新鲜！

I’m reviewing my last two visits to Mr Cheng.
I went two weeks ago to treat myself. The same woman that threw me out, greeted me with me a smile. She asked if I’d like a drink, I said still water. She brought me back a very small bottle of water that cost 2.10 euro, ok lesson learned. I saw lots of classes full of what looked like tap water so I made a note for next time.
The selection was mostly fried foods covered in a lot of sugary glop, rice, soup, and an assortment of sad looking maki rolls, Salmon sushi was occasionally available but you had to snag it up. Fried bananas were available for dessert with three kinds of ice cream as well. There was some jello and fruit but nothing looked very appetizing.
Once you sit down, service is basically done.
I ate my fill until I started to feel gross and paid the check. 13 euro with a 2 euro tip.
I went back yesterday at 2pm, not knowing lunch ended at 3pm. My mistake.
It was ridiculously hot inside. I was sweating before the same woman came to ask my drink order. I ordered a tap water.
«No no, we don’t do that.»
«Ok,» I replied with a smile, canteen in my bag.
I got up to see my options and was quickly disappointed. No salmon sushi, and every fried dish was scraped together in the center of empty pans. There was more sugary sludge than anything edible. I asked about the Zutaten menu sitting on the buffet, only about half can actually be seen in front of me. The waiter tells me this is the dinner menu. (Why is it paraded in front of me for lunch then?) I grabbed whatever looked appetizing enough and sat back down.
I looked up the word zutaten, which I learn means ingredients. I feel like I’m being kicked around because I don’t speak German, or Chinese. Now it’s 215. I ate my leftovers and go back up to see if they’ve placed anything else out. Nope.
I asked the same woman that’s been my waitress since my first visit if lunch ends soon. She responds yup, 3 o clock. I say I’m sorry, I didn’t know that. She says Ok, and turns away from me, throwing her arms over her head in a gesture of I don’t give a sh*t.
I asked again if anymore food will be coming out. She says no. I say it’s not 3 o clock. She asks me what would I like to eat. I want to say «fresh everything, not this leftover crap.» But I respond with «salmon.» She says «No, all you can eat, not all you can eat salmon.»
I decided to ask about the zutaten menu again as I walked over to grab it. She’s had it with me, throws her arms up and says
«You eat what’s left or you leave.»
«Ok, I’ll leave.» I responded with a smile. I walked over to my bag.
«You not pay, and you never come back again.» She said to me. From what I understand she wasn’t saying IF you don’t pay, you aren’t allowed back. She was telling me not to pay, and never to come back.
«Ok, danke.» I said, still smiling.
I thought about asking to speak to the manager but I wanted out of there asap. The whole exchange was mixed on both sides, a lot of confusion, at least on my part but I still think you deserve what you pay for. Bottom line, the food is bad, the food service is worse, the staff are incredibly disrespectful.

Its our first day in Hamburg and we were craving sushi for a while. With 240 reviews and ⁴⁄₅ stars, we thought it would be a safe bet. Let me tell you, we were very disappointed. The sushi variety was extremely poor and the rice definitely not fresh. I tried the Wok and the calamari was extremely ”fishy”. People that say the sushi is good, have never eaten «real» sushi. Even for 17 € buffet, please dont waste your time and money, go eat anywhere else. We had trouble getting 2 glasses of tap water, even though we did order beverages. My boyfriend told me to mention that at least they had a good ice cream selection and fruits. However they also a maki with CANNED tuna.

Mr Cherng has character!!! When my friends suggested that we go to Mr Cherng for lunch, the «all you can eat» aspect made me skeptical. However, I was pleasantly surprised by how fresh and delicious the food tasted given that it’s all you can eat!
The atmosphere was extremely casual. It was very loud and crowded. I definitely would recommend a reservation! However, all of this really added to the «all you can eat» charm and helped ensure that the food was constantly freshened and replenished!

I was there for all you can eat buffet lunch with Sushi and some Asian meat dishes. For the price of 9 € the food was ok.

Kann die postiven Meinungen nicht komplett teilen.
Es schmeckte dort und war auch frisch, die Auswahl an Sushi war ganz angenehm. Allerdings fanden meine Begleitung und ich, dass das Buffet insgesamt gemschmacklich ziemlich einfach ist. Gourmets werden hier vielleicht nicht ganz so glücklich. Für einen Mittagstisch ganz nett, für einen Freitagabend für anspruchsvolle Gaumen nicht so ganz.

Best buffet you may ever experience! € 20.00 for all you can eat! Everything you try is exquisite including the deserts. I have been to Hamburg twice and been here twice and I will definitely be back a third time. Stop reading this review– just go.

Mr. Cherng ist eines meiner Lieblingserestaurants und meiner Meinung nach eines der besten in Hamburg, wenn es um Sushi All-​you-​can-​eat geht.
Für ca. 16 € exklusive Getränke bekommt man hier eine schöné Auswahl verschiedener Sushi Variantionen sowie warme, typisch chinesische Speisen, wie zum Beispiel Bratnudeln. Den Klassiker «gebackene Banane» gibt es natürlich auch als Nachtisch, daneben aber noch Obst und Eis.
Außerdem gibt es einen Teil am Buffet mit rohem Fleisch, welches man braten lassen kann. Dazu klemmt man eine, mit einer Nummer versehene, Klammer an seinen Teller und gibt diesen mit dem gewünschten Essen ab. Wenn das Essen fertig ist, wird es einem dann an den Tisch gebracht.
Ich selber bleibe meist aber nur beim Sushi, was hier wirklich sehr frisch ist und eine gute Qualität hat (die Portion Reis ist nicht größer als der Fisch, der oben drauf liegt — immer ein gutes Zeichen ;-)). Auch wenn viel am Buffet los ist, wird immer sehr zügig nachgelegt.
Das Restaurant ist recht groß und dem entsprechend ist der Geräuschpegel manchmal recht laut, das ist aber der einzige Kritikpunkt den ich habe, ansonsten komme ich immer wieder gerne hierher!

Mr. Cherng ist einfach eines unserer liebsten chinesischen Restaurants.
Egal zu welcher Tages– oder Nachtzeit, es ist eigentlich immer voll.
Der Grund dürfte ohne Frage Qualität und Auswahl der Speisen sein.
Es gibt sowohl mittags als auch abends die Möglichkeit, Buffet zu essen (abends etwas teurer aber auch noch umfangreicher bzw. die etwas teureren Dinge mit dabei).
Man hat die Auswahl aus den chinesischen Klassikern (Bratnudeln, frittiertes Huhn, Rindfleisch in Sojasoße etc.), Sushi, was für ein all-​you-​can-​eat eigentlich eher selten ist, kann sich aber auch selber sein Gericht braten lassen.
Nach Herzenslust Fleisch und Gemüse aussuchen, Wäscheklammer mit der Tischnummer an den Teller klemmen, das Alles einem der Köche reichen und die Wunschsoße, ich glaube 13 zur Auswahl, nennen (mein Favorit: dunkle Austernsoße).
Das fertig Gebratene wird dann von den Servicekräften zum Platz gebracht.
Der Service ist wirklich auf Zack und eigentlich immer super freundlich, man kann auch bedenkenlos am Tresen bezahlen und die Leute wissen schon, an welchem Tisch man gesessen hat.
Nicht mehr benötigtes Geschirr ist eigentlich schneller verschwunden als man gucken kann und auch wenn man mal nicht alles schafft (das gilt jetzt natürlich nur für a la carte und nicht für’s Buffet *lach*) kann man sich den Rest ohne große Probleme einpacken lassen.
Absolute Empfehlung! Bis zum nächsten Mal!

Un buffet japonais/​asiatique a volonté complètement sans intérêt.
Tout ce que le poisson a de frais, c’est sa congélation. Tous les sushis sashimi et autres maki sont au pire mauvais, au mieux sans goûts.
Les plats chauds sont gras, frits, refrits et surfrits et donc lourds, indigestes, et sans autre goût que celui d’une huile qui aurait grand besoin d’être changée. Les (rares) plats qui né sont pas frits ont ce «délicieux» arôme de glutamates artificiels, et baignent dans une sauce qui semble être du gras gélifié.
Seul et unique intérêt: un buffet a volonté pour moins de 10 euros c’est assez intéressant, encore qu’on pourrait manger bien mieux ailleurs dans le quartier pour le même prix.

Zur Mittagszeit gibt es ein leckeres Angebot von Sushi (Maki, Sashimi, California Rolls) und Asia-​typisches Zeug (Gebackenes, gebratener Reis, Nudeln u.a.).
Abends hingegen gibt es mehr unterschiedliche Sushis und ganz toll finde ich, dass man sich verschiedenes Fleisch (auch exotische Sachen wie Känguru) und Gemüse selbst zusammenstellen kann und dann beim Koch abgeben kann und der bereitet das dann frisch zu mit einer Sauce nach Wunsch (aus ich glaube 12 verschiedenen Saucen). Wirklich lecker und zu empfehlen! Dieses Angebot gibt es aber nur abends.
Jedes nicht aufgegessene Sushi kostet 0,50 € extra (steht zumindest auf der Karte, ich bin bisher noch nie in die Verlegenheit gekommen).
Die Getränkepreise sind wirklich in Ordnung. Mittags kosten alle Softgetränke 2,50 €.
Mittags bekommt man in der Regel schnell einen Tisch und abends sollte man meiner Meinung nach vorher lieber reservieren, da hier dann weniger Durchgangsverkehr ist.
Fazit: Man merkt, dass ich hier nicht nur einmal war. Und ich werde auch in Zukunft hier ab und zu anzutreffen sein :)

Quantity over quality. Well of course AYCE (ALL YOU CAN EAT) always comes with a lack of quality.
Sushi: Of course It’s not original Sushi with original japanese rice, but nowdays people don’t give a fuck, because it’s cheap. Real Sushi like those you get in Japan or other parts of Asia will make you moan load. It’s like orgasm. But you don’t get those things here in Germany. And all Sushi places are ran by chinese or vietnamese.
It’s ok but it’s fake. And people accept the fake: D It’s ok as well.
Well Mr. Cherng is not that bad compared to all the other Sushi places in Hamburg.
But let’s put it simple and easy together.
Do you want quality and the real japanese thing? There are some very traditionals in Hamburg, but you pay maybe 30 € for 10 pieces of Sushi.
Or do you just wanna eat whatever it’s cheaper and more popular? Then come here.
But I feel like the quality at Mr. Cherng was way way way BETTER in the past.

Still haven’t managed to try the buffet, but the à la carte sushi worked out great.
The portions aren’t huge — I ate the «A8 Sushi for Two» after a too-​long workday — but the prices are reasonable. Great nigiri (fish on rice), but the maki (rolls) were a little rice-​heavy for my taste. Good solid salmon and tuna, and the eel was good (if a little less savory than I usually like).
Definitely fills up on a Friday night, but it’s much easier to get in midweek; open reasonably late as well, which is nice.

Another one I have been to several times, usually over the week end with visiting friends or a get together to kick off the night.

The bads/​room for improvements & Tips
–Tip#1 Food: the prepared woks tend to bath in oil, which from the first plate feels sickening, make sure to ask the cook to go easy on it. I mean really!
–Tip #2 Atmosphere: I wouldn’t put it on the dating restaurant list
All in all, great and I would recommend it again and again, anyone can find something to eat!

Wow, so this place rocks! It was recommended to me by some friends who used to live in Hamburg and I am so glad they did — but also sad they did because now I will forever crave the delicious goodness they sell there.
I live in Munich, currently, and the only All-​You-​Can-​Eat mainly comes in the form of running sushi; for whatever reason I am pretty put off by the idea of running sushi. Anyway, Mr. Cherngs is a GEM, a diamond in the rough (if you will). This place is All-​You-​Can-​Eat, does not involve running sushi; however to my delight, DOES involve fresh delicious sushi, DOES involve Mongolian BBQ, DOES involve salad bar, DOES involve an array of Chinese dishes, DOES have desert and all for the awesome price of 16 € (approximately).
I could not have been more impressed with the quality, quantity and tastiness of the food at Mr. Cherngs — especially given how inexpensive it is.
If you ever find yourself in Hamburg this place is a MUST go.

When you hear ‘all you can eat Asian’ generally your stomach does a backflip. But good ol’ Mr. Cherng is setting the record straight on good and plentiful Oriental grub.
Hard to believe, but this place dishes out an unlimited buffet of fresh sushi, Chinese favorites like bao, lo mein and more, as well as choose-​your-​ingredients Mongolian style wok — all at the same time and all with remarkable quality.
And it’s good. The place was packed when we stopped in on a Sunday night. At around 17 euro for AYCE, it’s a helluva deal. And chances are it’s better than your local sushi, Chinese or Mongo place.

very reasonable for the price and location 5 stars for the all-you-can+eat at lunchtime

Two weeks ago I had the most unpleasant meal in Hamburg ever. You can read about a similar unpleasant experience that caught some other reviewers by surprise, who also had no prior experience with Mr. Cherng.
Namely, they asked us to pay 50c for each uneaten piece of sushi without making sure we knew about this rule beforehand.
Here’s what happened: Before we were even finished with the meal, a guy was standing next to our table and showing us a warning leaflet sitting on the table describing this unusual rule they have, basically counting them as he spoke with us. I’ve been to many all-​you-​can-​eat sushi restaurants and I never witnessed anything similar. I should mention that we didn’t notice the leaflet which was in German only anyway (tourist trap anyone?) and that they haven’t warned such practice in advance. Our rejection to pay for something unusual that should be made perfectly clear (with illustrations of what constitutes an uneaten sushi is it half-​eaten, without filling or whatever?) created quite a commotion among the staff. The guy also shamelessly used an argument of hungry children in Africa and I did them a favor by avoiding a Socratic dialog that could have ensured at that point. Get this: you’re not able to take with you the sushi pieces left on your plate! Are they going to sent it priority mail to Africa?! Something tells me then won’t. Anyway, the staff was very aggressive, obviously totally uninterested in improving the horrible impression they left (to some other guests who overheard our discussion) and my coolness totally left them confused.
The manager we called for wasn’t around, even though they initially bluffed by threatening to call the manager at one point. Eventually, another worker (either a more senior worker or supervisor) gave us a normal bill and let us go as if they were doing us a favor. Since I really didn’t want my afternoon ruined by some tactless a-​holes, I made sure I didn’t think about them during the day but sure I didn’t leave the place with a pleasant taste in my mount. However, this experience left me thinking about the poor kids working in Chinese factories for 12+ hours and their managers-​from-​hell if this is what you can experience in Hamburg as a customer.
Sushi aside, the rest of the food was mostly different permutations of vegetables with chicken, beef or cheapest fish food soaked in wok sauce, where you realize what you’re eating much more with your eyes than with your sense of taste. Even before the uneaten sushi would have been eaten by hungry African children incident, your attention span permitting, you’ll get the feeling that the staff just wants to sit you down and then watch who else might me coming in and whether anyone has left any sushi.
They get 2 stars because some food wasn’t too generic which improves the the low service rating. If you just want to fill your bowel, then you might rate them with 4 – 5 stars. Myself, I have eaten much better sushi at low to fair prices.
Pro tip: If you go here to get full, make sure you don’t leave any uneaten pieces of sushi.

You also have the chance to design your own meal: raw meat, fish with vegetables then give it to the cook, ask for a specific sauce and 5 minutes later u got a delicious dish!
However they have a funny rule, every sushi that remains uneaten on your plate would cost you an extra 1EUR!
I presume they don’t want people to attack the sushi buffet as if their life depended on it!
The waiters are really friendly and nice.

Amazing Price, Satisfactory Food, Awful Customer Service:
I was there for the all you can eat buffet with my girlfriend, where the price to food ratio is superb.
The wide assortment of sushi and Asian cuisine is satisfactory in quality. In quantity, in accordance to the price paid, the food is magnificent. But alas there is a price to be paid for such an offer.
The restaurant has a very nice atmosphere, a blend of western elegance meets Asian sophistication. Although at the times of the open buffet, the atmosphere shifts to a more militant stance (hence the low 2 star rating). There is too much screaming and yelling going around as the kitchen struggles to keep the food rolling in. As for the waiters, friendly on the door no doubt, but once you are pulled in, their attitude takes a 180 degrees turn. They will not answer when called, and the only way to get their attention is by baiting them with empty dishes, which they swarm around the restaurant hunting down like eagles.
there are many more positive points, as there are negative points. i dont have the time or interest in counting them. Point is: Of all the table in the restaurant mine was the only one without a warning sign telling you that for every left over sushi piece on your plate, you had to pay extra, and consequently was completely struck off guard when paying the bill i had to pay more for the left over sushi than for the all you can eat buffet; sushi which i was not allowed to have packed as Take away, even after a talk with the manager who seemed uninterested whether a customer was satisfied or not.
Final judgment: Go for the cheep good food, and the nice atmosphere; don’t expect humanitarian/​civilized treatment.

Asian-​style buffet restaurants are a dime-​a-​dozen in central Hamburg. it seems like if you’ve been to one, you’ve been to them all. Mr. Cherng, however, is completely different. The food is fresh and of high quality, the variety of dishes is vast, there’s fresh sushi alongside the rest of the dishes and the all-​you-​can-​eat lunch price of 8.90eu is very fair for what you get on your plate.
I especially liked their tofu dish as well as the potato croquettes and deep-​fried banana for dessert. I was happy to see fresh fruit being served with a happy abundance of melon.

We had a great time here. All-​you-​can-​eat buffet style was nicely and invitingly explained. Sushi, warm stir-​fry and rice balls with bean paste for 14,90. The service was friendly, fast and very helpful. They were always aware of when our crowd was getting bigger, bringing more tables and chairs without us even asking! The interior is really pleasant with nice lighting and well arranged. The restaurant is very large, but each party has the feeling of being ‘to themselves’. I look forward to going again!
