Reasonably cheap, considering Mitte. The veggie bibimbap was fine, though the rice wasn’t as elastic and thick as I’d like. Very attentive service. It’s a relatively small space — I went in the early lunch rush, when I already had to share a table with some other people, and by the time I left, people were queueing outside.

Haben eine ganze Zeit lang alle Koreaner in Berlin getestet, war aber nicht leistbar, weil einfach zu viele und zu hohe Fluktuation.
Aber nichts desto trotz, sind wir natürlich auf den YamYam gekommen und waren eine ganze Weile oft da… Essen ist gut, nicht übernatürlich, vorallem Service und Abläufe schnell.
Aber nichts besonderes, vorallem weil ja heute koreanisches Essen die Welt erobert, so wie die globalen Business-​Gringos…
Aber Preis/​Leistung durchaus gut, und verglichen mit dem umliegenden Essenangebot sogar überdurchschnittlich. P. S. Ein Blick in die Küche ist sehr interessant

I was craving watermelon soju after walking around all day during the summer, so my friends and I decided to try YamYam since it received good reviews on Unilocal.I really loved the watermelon soju from here. It was so refreshing and not too heavy on the soju. I also ordered the zampong (spicy soup with thick noodles, vegetables, and seafood) and the mung bean pancake (with vegetables and seafood). While the dishes weren’t the best Korean food that I’ve had, they were still satisfying and reasonably priced. The zampong could’ve used more seafood and the mung bean pancake could’ve used more seasoning, but overall I think everyone enjoyed their dinner.

immer sehr lecker hier, fischkuchen und seafood pancake sind klasse und die zampong fischsuppe hats in sich. sehr schneller service. leider sehr hektisch im vorderraum, fühlt sich oft wie schnellimbiss an… carlsberg bier geht gar nicht und ist hier das einzige, sehr schade bei dem guten essen.

Obwohl wir früh für ein Abendessen dran waren (18.30) war das Restaurant fast voll besetzt bzw. ausreserviert. Die Bedienung war jedoch freundlich und flexibel und mit nettem Bitten und geduldig sein, wurden wir doch noch untergebracht. Solche Flexibilität& Freundlichkeit schätze ich immer sehr.
Wir bestellten zwei koreanische Tees (Pflaume und Dattel, je 2,80 €) die zwar beide sehr süß, aber auch sehr gut und mit Fruchtstückchen zubereitet waren.
Es ging weiter mit Bibimbap mit Thunfisch und mit einer Suppe mit Garnelen.
Das Bibimbap (knapp 9 €) wurde hier schon genug gelobt und diskutiert. Ich könnte jetzt noch hinzufügen, dass das Ei etwas kalt war und der Thunfisch leider gegart (frisch und roh mag ich immer lieber) aber das ändert nichts daran, dass es ein sehr gutes Bibimbap ist und der Reis in der heißen Schale wunderbar knusprig wird.
Die scharfe Soße könnte für meinen Geschmack etwas mehr Feuer haben. Aber sie trifft wohl den europäischen Gaumen.

I stopped in here earlier today after reading the Unilocal reviews. The dumplings were excellent. The service was quick and efficient. I think the value was pretty good. I ordered two serving of dumplings, green tea ice cream and a large bottle of water for under 20 euros. I give it the 5^th star just for being a two minute walk from the RLP U Bahn station. I will be back next time I am in Berlin, and I highly recommend this restaurant.

Bimbam und süß salziges Rind sind meine absoluten Favoriten. Trotz oft wuseliger und gestresster Atmosphäre stimmt das Essen immer. Empfehlenswert.

Ich komme aus Peking, und in Peking gibt es schon zahlreiche koreanische Restaurants, aber das Essen hier hat mir ganz gut geschmeckt :)

I can’t believe we found a decent Korean place in Germany. I had the babimbap and it was pretty authentic and tasted great. Unfortunately I have to take a star off the banchan (side dish) they were so expensive when we usually get them complementary elsewhere. I also had a glass of green tea for 3 euro. A bit pricey for tea bag in glass of lukewarm water.

Food was excellent and reasonably cheap, 10eurp each for a beer +food.
As an avid Korean food lover I have to say this is definitely some of the best I’ve ever had.
Went with 4 friends and we had 2 orders of bibimbap and 3 orders om ramyum and NO ONE was disappointed.

I like the atmosphere here. The food was pretty good. A little expensive, especially the side-​dishes. Everything could be much spicier. The Kimchi tasted more like Sauerkraut :)

I had no idea that there are loads of Koreans in Berlin. In fact, there are many second generation Koreans there now which is evident given the number of Korean restaurants we saw throughout the city.
We came to Berlin for the weekend — deprived of proper Korean restaurants in Zurich — thought we’d give YamYam a try as it was a recommendation from a friend. Really glad we came here — this place is legit!
There is a wide selection of Korean food at this restaurant. Usually Korean restaurants stick to a few options to specialise in certain dishes. But these guys had everything from mandoo, dolsot bibimbap, gimbap, soups, etc. Only negative for the restaurant is you had to pay for panchan… it’s a shame but it’s the norm in London so wasn’t new to me.
The service was fantastic. In fact, we were served by a German guy who spoke Korean (as well as 6 other languages!!!) who was super friendly. Everything tasted great — and this is coming from a US West Coaster who is used to eating lots of Korean food! Best part is it’s really priced well — definitely will be coming back!

Super delicious bibimbap and the kimchi is the real deal here. Great menu and authentic in flavour. Quick service but better to avoid peak times as its too hectic. I’ll definitely be back.

My Chinese friend and I were in the area and I told her I was hungry and she recommended Yam Yam and when I asked her how it was she said «very mediocre» so I skipped on the opportunity. A couple days later I was craving Korean food and my fellow Korean friend, who unfortunately is no longer in Berlin, left me with recommendations of Korean food since I’m new to the city including Yam Yam, so I went today for dinner. Let me just say that probably the first time in my life that I wish I listened to my Chinese friend about this Korean restaurant because it was VERY mediocre.
We ordered:
Tuna Kimbap: decent, could be better, a lot thinner than traditional Kimbap
Bulgogi dupbap: not too enough meat but even if there were it was still very mediocre, kind of salty but not enough seasoning of the right ingredients, could be worse but DEFINITELY could be better
Seafood Jjambbong: the soup wasn’t spicy at all, my husband said «too sweet»
Kimchi: not very flavorful
Pickled cucumber: good
BIGGEST FLAW: have to pay for side dishes?!? I was flabbergasted. Paid 2,50 euros for a pickled cucumbers… Pretty unhappy about that. Offer a banchan (side dish) set for two for around 12 euros… Absurd. Koreans are known for their side dishes and why I have to pay extra is beyond me.
Not kid friendly: no high chairs, have booths though but still uncomfortable. Have us a small spoon and a small bowl for my son which was nice though :)

I’m not sure if we ordered the wrong thing, but I won’t be coming back, which is a shame because it’s so close. If I ever happen to and I have a better experience, then I’ll change my review.

Great feed, spicy cucumber salad, fried dumplings and beef bimbimbap were all awesome! Delicious food with quick service at decent prices!

Das YamYam liegt zentral, nähe des Alexanderplatzes und ist ein schönes und köstliches koreanisches Restaurant. Ich war bereits unzählige male dort speisen und kann das Angebot plus dem Preisleistungsverhältnis, sehr weiterempfehlen.

War hier schon mehrmals essen. Das Essen schmeckt sehr lecker und der Preis ist auch gut. Gut zur Mittagszeit aber auch abends. Ist sehr gut besucht. Deswegen solltet ihr vorher reservieren :)

Was craving Bibimbap so I came here with my two friends. As good as I’ve had it in my favorite store in the states, so I’m pretty happy. Chill place but can get crowded quickly!

Habe mich hier mit einer Freundin getroffen. Was wir gut fanden, ist das es von den Speisen auch Bilder gibt auf der Speisekarte, das fanden wir hilfreich, da wir nur wenige koreanische Gerichte kennen. Die Bedienung war freundlich, doch die Musik war zu laut um sich normal unterhalten zu können. Hatte mir das Bibimbap mit Rind bestellt und fand es ziemlich trocken, da habe ich schon besseres gegessen. Das Chigimi war eine Art Mungobohnenpuffer das mit Meeresfrüchten, vegetarisch oder mit Fleisch bestellt werden konnte. Wir hatten es vegetarisch und es schmeckte gut. Zu trinken gab es Wassermelonensmoothie und der war nicht schlecht, vielleicht etwas zu viel frische Minze, aber doch erfrischend.

Leider hat YamYam über die Jahre nachgelassen, ich war in den letzten 4 – 5 Jahren regelmäßig dort und kann es daher beurteilen (zudem bin ich Koreaner).
POSITIV:
— faire Preise
— sehr gutes Dolsot-​Bibimbap (also im heißen Steintopf serviert)
— hausgemachte Mandu (Maultaschen)
— in keinem anderen Koreaner in Berlin bekommt man Kimbap, die koreanische Variante von Sushi
— der hausgemachte Eistee schmeckt sehr gut (am besten passt aber Bier zur deftigen koreanischen Küche)
— der große Banjan-​Teller für 2 Personen ist super: viel, variantenreich und frisch
NEGATIV:
— das Tofu-​Tellergericht ist nicht zu empfehlen: es ist ein Kompromiss für Vegetarier/​Veganer, dabei ist es kein koreanisches Gericht und fade gewürzt
— das Fleisch vom Bulgogi-​Deopbap (Rind) ist trocken und könnte besser mariniert sein (mehr Marinade)
— die Jajang-​Myeon (Nudeln in schwarzer Bohnensauce) sind gut, aber auch hier schmeckt das Fleisch trocken und «alt»
Unterm Strich aber ein sehr guter «Koreaner» mit dem besten Preis-​/​Leistungsverhältnis in Berlin!

Ich habe mit meinen Freunden mein Geburtstag dort gefeiert. Reservierung für 8 Personen war kein Problem, und auch die zwei Hunde konnten mit, jedoch war es dann doch ein wenig eng. Es war gut, dass ich reserviert hatte, da im Laufe des Abends von 18:00Uhr bis 20:00 Uhr Immer mehr Leute kamen und viele draußen auf ein Platz warten mussten. Publikum war eher jung und «hipsterig». Bedienung war sehr nett. Hatten dann die Bestellung doch in Englisch aufgegeben, weil sie nur bedingt Deutsch verstand.
Hatten einen Rotwein, Weißwein, Bier, und eiste bestellt. Dazu diverse Bimbimbap und Guldoi, sowie Gamibap. Alles wurde sehr schnell serviert. War alles sehr lecker, jedoch nichts außergewöhnliches. Leider hatten sie kein Grünen Eisstee-​Eis mehr, sodass man uns das Melonen-​Eis empfohlen hatte, was sehr lecker war. Und mit insgesamt 130 € für 8 Personen mit Vorspeise, Hauptgericht, Nachspeise und Getränke war es sehr günstig. Und günstiger hatte ich mein Geburtstag noch nie gefeiert.
Auch meine Gäste empfanden den Koreaner sehr lecker. Wir würden wieder kommen.

So delicious! We ordered a steak bowl, a chicken bowl, veggie sushi, appetizers, and multiple orders of dumplings. The food was great and the staff was friendly and helpful in seating our group. The bill wasn’t too expensive with all of the food that we ordered. Hands down, best Korean food I’ve had in a long time.

Nettes Ambiente, man bekommt immer ganz gut einen Tisch. War bisher 2x da, erste Mal sehr lecker, das zweite Mal leider gar nicht!
Die Dumplings sind auseinander gefallen und waren geschmacklich nicht würzig und eher fad! Nochmal kommen wir daher nicht wieder!

Petite «taverne» coréenne ou l’accueil fut très bon et la nourriture très correcte. Le plat que j’ai pris — Ramyun avec des crevettes — était très bon, seules les crevettes avaient l’air de sortir d’un sachet acheté au supermarché (ainsi que les nouilles). Mais pour un plat à 6 € environ, c’est plus que satisfaisant.
Le personnel est très serviable et à votre écoute si vous avez du mal à comprendre le menu. Nous nous sommes exprimés en anglais et il n’y a eu aucun souci pour nous faire comprendre.

Komme immer wieder gern her, habe nur gute Erfahrungen hier gemacht. Freundliches Personal und ich hatte nie wirklich lange Wartezeiten. Der Laden ist etwas klein und stets gut besucht — entweder versucht man sein Glück oder man reserviert besser (vor allem im Sommer).
Der Ansturm sollte allerdings für sich sprechen — Zu empfehlen! :-)

Bin schon zwei mal ins Yam-​Yam hin und hat mir zwei mal ganz gut geschmeckt.
Bibimbaps mit Fleisch hatten wir (8,50 Euro, damit wird man echt satt), die sehr lecker waren. Nur war eine von uns etwas enttäuscht. Sie hat sich né Platte von Vorpeisen bestellt. Das Essen war eigentlich ganz gut, aber der Preis war komischerweise etwas happig im Vergleich mit den anderen Gerichten (10,00 Euro für né vegetarische Platte, 11.50 Euro mit Fleisch)…
Die Getränke sind aber absoluuut traumhaft, für diejenigen, die exotischen Tees (3,00 Euro) besonders gerne trinken. Wir hatten Jujube Tees (Datteln-​Tee) und koreanische Zitrone-​Tee (die gar nicht so sauer ist wie die übliche gelbe Zitrone) — echt empfehlenswert! Die sind ja etwas süß (mit Honig gemischt) aber trotzdem voll lecker.
Die Bedienung war sehr nett, dass Essen kam ziemlich schnell und war echt frisch.
Gehe gerne wieder hin!

Das YamYam– unter den Berliner Hipstern natürlich bekannt und gern besucht– befindet sich wenige Schritte entfernt vom Rosa-​Luxemburg-​Platz und damit in einem hippen Kiez mit vielen kleinen Restaurants, Boutiquen und Cafés.
Dem Publikum angepasst, erscheint das Yam Yam in untypischer Vintage-​Einrichtung mit verspielten Dekorationen und Möbeln. Ein wenig auf heruntergekommener Stuck verziert das kleine Restaurant. Untypisch deswegen, weil ich selten asiatisch essen war ohne einen obligatorischen Buddah, Goldleisten, die dominierende Farbe Rot, chinesische Schriftzeichen oder gar ein Aquarium.
Davon gibt es hier im Yam Yam nichts.
Der Service kommt an den Tisch und serviert das koreanische Essen sehr sehr zügig– was leider nicht frisch zubereitet sein kann aufgrund der kurzen Wartezeit, die weniger als 5 Minuten dauerte.
Lecker war es trotzdem! Gesund und geschmackvoll gewürzt auch.
Im Fazit würde ich das Yam Yam nur bedingt weiter empfehlen. Eine extra Anfahrt bedarf es allerdings nicht. Ganz nach dem Motto: war eh in der Gegend, hatte Hunger…

Have had lunch here a couple of times and it is always packed. We’ve always ordered the same thing, Bi Bim Bap x 2 and a Kimchi Jeon to share. The Kimchi Jeon is fantastic, the best I have tasted in Berlin so far. Super crispy. Whilst it is pretty good authentic Korean food, it is not the best value and lacks that something to elevate it to exceptional and so I can only give it 3 stars. Still a decent option for lunch though.

Mittlerweile war ich weitere drei mal im Yam Yam und die anderen Gerichte, die ich gegessen hab, haben mich wesentlich mehr überzeugt, als das Gericht bei meinem ersten Besuch.
Mandu, Kimbap und Bibimbap mit Fleisch, war alles sehr lecker. Nur die Nudeln mit der schwarzen Bohnenpaste (Chajangmyun) waren nicht so überzeugend.
Daher insgesamt 4 wohlverdiente Sterne!

Ein tolles koreanisches Restaurant in Mitte. Kurioser Weise schmeckt das koreanische Essen etwas anders als die typischen vietnamesischen oder chinesischen Speisen. Es ist alles sehr lecker und vor allem frisch zubereitet. Bei meinen letzten Besuchen war es immer recht voll, weshalb man einen Tisch reservieren sollte. Anderenfalls muss man eine längere Wartezeit in Kauf nehmen oder wird mit anderen Gästen an einen Tisch gesetzt. Mein Tipp: Bibimbab (ich glaube das hieß so) ein koreanisches Gericht direkt aus dem heißen Steintopf… sehr lecker.

YamYam had been better back in the days. It’s stil good no doubt and probably still the best place to have some Bibimbap but their sidedishes are now simply some kimchi instead of the variety they used to had. The interior is minimalistic and the waiter are really nice.

Having travelled extensively in Korea for five years I grew to love Korean food. In my opinion it’s the best hangover food that is also healthy ;-)) I had the craving for Korean food for the aforementioned reasons so I went looking ;-))
The place is located on a wonderful street with loads of fashion boutiques, jewellery, book shops, knick knacks and hair salons. It also happens to have a load of nice interesting cafes serving different types of Asian food and so on. It was my first time in this part of Berlin and, I loved it. There are loads of locals and tourists alike at the cafes looking cool, sipping drinks and eating.
This place has a really nice menu with loads of side dishes like kimchi, pickled cucumber, spinach salad and so on. For me a Korean meal without sides is not a meal ;-)) I ordered the Beef Mandu pan fried dumplings to start and a Bibimbap for main. The sides were excellent as was the bibimbap. It was quite authentic taste, fabulous flavour and spicy. The Mandu however, was nice but not what I would have expected. Similarly the soup side was a bit too oily and lacked flavour.
The service was a tad slow to start but then again, I was there before normal dinner time and staff were only getting ready for dinner as was the kitchen. As time went on it got a whole lot quicker.
My craving for Korean food was perfectly satisfied and I would happily come here anyday for a meal. It was not very expensive and food was excellent. Must try the kimchi pizza next time, it looked delicious ;-))

I have plenty of data points about Korean restaurants, and somehow because of that, I can only give three stars to this establishment. Somehow, there’s something lacking, some extra oomph to make it feel above average.
A companion and I were here for lunch today, and while all of the outside tables were occupied, we went in, where there were plenty of space. We took a seat, and were promptly attended to. We ordered a steamed mandu to share, as well as a bulgogi for my companion, and a bibimbap for myself.
The mandu was okay, but we actually ordered the vegetarian one, but got the seafood instead. Oh well. The bibimbap was well, average. Something felt missing, but I couldn’t put my finger to it. The hot sauce was not hot enough; I had to douse myself bibimbap with two swirls of the hot sauce just so that it would have a kick. Oh, I forgot, I am in Germany.
Overall, it is okay. I have a feeling that they tailor the tastes to German palates, but otherwise, it is good enough. It won’t prevent me from searching for other places, though.

Es ist Besuch aus Bayern da und der hat uns zum Koreanisch Essen ins YamYam eingeladen.
Das war neu für mich und ich war gespannt, ob koreanische Küche etwas für mich wird.
Gleich vorweg, es ist nicht so wirklich meins gewesen.
Die gefüllten Teigtaschen erinnern mich an DimSum aus China, schmeckten aber leider fad.
Ich hatte die 4b und die 11. zusammen mit einer Minz-​Zitrone Limonade die angemacht war wie ein Mai-​Thai. Getränk lecker, die 4b (Name vergessen) war gut im abgegrillten Zustand. Die Suppe mit dem DimSum Immitat (Nr. 11) mit Fischfüllung hat mir wie oben erwähnt garnicht geschmeckt.
Auch fand ich die Preise reaktiv happig für die kleinen Portionen, so dass bei 4 Essen, 4 Getränken und 4 Vorspeisen knapp 75 Euro rauskamen.
Ich werde hier nicht wieder Essen auch wenn der Service gut und schnell war. Da Anderen bestimmt koreanisch besser schmeckt gibt es 3 Sterne.

Mein erster Besuch im Yam Yam dauerte nur eine halbe Stunde, da wir auf dem Weg in die Volksbühne noch schnell mit Leckerem + Leistbarem unsere Bäuche füllen wollten.
Das Bibimbap (Tagesspecial mit Meeresgetier) war trotz vollvollvollem Laden innerhalb kürzester Zeit auf dem Tisch und schmeckte hervorragend. Die zwei Saucen auf dem Tisch ebenso: Die Sojasauce war etwas süßer als gewohnt und die scharfe Sauce ungewohnt fruchtig mit aushaltbarer Schärfe.
Dies wird nicht mein letzter Besuch gewesen sein!
