Really cool place.
People partying all night long, dance floor, beach chairs, water.
We we just walking around and happened to find the entry way, which is kind of hidden. Glad we went in.

T’arrives là dedans, tu y trouves un bar (enfumé), des petits restos, une plage, une salle avec du son le soir… Tu peux y passer l’aprem et la soirée, tu t’ennuies pas !
En plus, l’accueil est super chaleureux, tu discutes avec tout le monde là dedans… J’adore !! C’est un endroit totalement improbable mais j’adore.

Eigentlich wollte ich schon viel häufiger hier hin, hatte es aber bislang nur einmal aufgrund eines Konzert geschafft. Dennoch muss ich sagen, dass mir der Abend und die Nacht dort gefiel. Das Anstehen war jetzt nicht so prickelnd, aber es ist heutzutage nicht so selten, dass man manchmal ca. 30 Minuten warten muss.
Es ist ziemlich klein, ein wenig ranzig, aber für mich ist das der typische Charme der für mich gutes weggehen ausmacht. Die Leute waren entspannt und guter Laune. Leider ging das Konzert nur knapp 60 Minuten, aber der DJ danach hat super aufgelegt und die Leute zum tanzen gebracht.

I discovered this place while on Sandemans NewEurope Berlin Alternative Tour, and I loved it so much that I decided I wanted to take my dad there that evening for dinner for our last night in the city. We’d had our fill of currywurst, potatoes, and sauerkraut, so I figured that something different would be memorable on our trip.
Yaam stands for «Young African Artists Market», so naturally there are a lot of African expats that hang out here, but because the neighborhood has become more gentrified, it’s a popular spot among millenials for cheap exotic eats and dancing, as well.
When I arrived that afternoon with my tour group, we took a 20 minute break here. During this time, I spent it mostly watching a group of African dancers that had met on the small stage on the beach side of the market, taking pictures of the murals that adorned the outside walls of the central venue, and people watching with an ice-​cold Afri-​cola. It was just so fun and funky that I asked my tour guide to show us where exactly we were on a map and how late it was open.
When I got back to our hotel in Moabit, I easily convinced my dad to come here, so we took the S-​Bahn from Bellevue to Ostbanhof and made our way there on foot. We ate stew from one of the African food huts and drank beer at the bar in the back while relaxing on two of the over-​sized beach chairs. Sadly, there were no live performances on the stage that night, but there was dancing going on at the bar.
I’m really glad we made the trek out here, because it was the perfect way to end our trip!

Really hipster, cool reggae dance club right by the water that was super chill and casual with a lot of people who are ready to dance and groove.
Came here on a Thursday night so the usual open dance area wasn’t open but locals tell me that usually the open area is one big dance floor with food trucks open all around you. On my night, the inside bar turned into its own little dance floor and everyone, including the bartenders, are grooving and rocking their heads with you.
Really nice place if you like more chill and hipster nightlife that isn’t so uptight!

La playa de Berlín. Increíble mezcla de subculturas, rodeados de un aire caribeño de las islas inglesas. Un lugar perfecto para tumbarse y beberse tan tranquilamente unas cuantas cervezas mientras vez pasearse los barcos a través del Speer. Además, hay algún que otro puesto de comida africana y de Trinidad y Tobago.
Barato y bonito.

Einfach nur perfekt für warme Sommertage und wenn man einfach mal wieder dem Alltag entfliehen möchte.
Feiern kann man dort auch gut.

Sand beach bar in berlin? wtf well its true. Have a drink and take your shoes off. lol It was cold when I was there but I still party like a rock star. Reggae music. I felt like don’t worry be happy man.

We we’re lucky enough to be in Berlin last weekend when it was hot and sunny, so the Yaam bar was a must. Tucked away just off the river, just off the centre of Berlin its well worth a visit.
Kind of like a part community centre, part mini festival, it had a really easy going atmosphere, bar staff and locals were all welcoming and friendly.
3 or 4 little sound systems and a club. Playing Afro beat and Reggae to the early hours. Plus a few food stalls with African and West Indian food.

Mehr Reggae &Dancehall für Berlin. Ich kenne keinen anderen Club der so harmonisch ist. Super entspannte Leute, nettes Personal und immer wieder knaller Partys mit Legenden aus der Reggae Szene. Wem es hier nicht gefällt ist einfach nur Yuppie oder Spießer.und diese Leute haben hier echt nichts verloren. Im Yaam gibt es ein bisschen von allem-​jamaicanisches Essen, gute Musik, sportliche Aktivitäten, Strand und noch vieles mehr. Ja, es wird auch gekifft aber in Electro Schuppen wird auch gern das Näschen gepudert also bitte keine Vorurteile! Liebes Yaam, du musst bleiben.

Eines der schönsten und vor allem enspanntesten Plätze in Berlin, außer Abends, denn dann geht’s ab!
Am Tag kann man gemütlich am Spreeufer oder in der Beachbar am Strand sitzen. Die Getränkeauswahl ist groß und die Cocktails schmecken super. Abends (insbesondere am Wochenende) kann man dann zu afrikanischen und karibischen Beats feiern. Häufig sind auch hamma Acts am Start. I it :)

Die Stimmung war sehr ausgelassen trotz nicht ganz vollem haus. Ein sehr gelungender abend und es lohnt sich auf jeden fall das Yaam zu unterstützen! Vor allem das große gelände mit strandbarflaire direkt an der Spree ist unglaublich.
Was mir auch sehr gut gefallen hat ist, dass es eine Vielzahl von Kulturen aufeinander trifft und man sich gut austauschen kann.
Alles in allem ein sehr guter Laden. sehr empfehlenswert!

A friend mentioned this to me before I left for Berlin, and I had a hard time believing it. Why would a beach bar, complete with sand, be in the middle of Berlin? I forgot about it until I stumbled into it yesterday on accident. Anyway, what a cool idea! There wasn’t much going on, but it was fun to take my shoes off and drink a cocktail. The drinks are both inexpensive and stiff, at least by my standards. I was pleasantly surprised. I’d like to come back when they’re hosting an event.

Yaam is everything as mentioned above, a lovely place to chill, a place to relax between gentle people. Great music and events.
Just a word of WARNING about the cocktails: If you are not a local you could easily end of with the non-​alcoholic tourist Planters Punch for 7 Euro as I did, drink a hundred and you could still safely drive a car. The give away is that they fill a glass to the brim with ice and then walk behind a semi-​closed wall and blend the ‘cocktail’.
7 Euro for colored water is a bit much, if you care to ask me. Stay with what comes in bottles.

Wow I can’t believe it! A caribbean beach, with bars, beach volley and basketball court, ethnic restaurants, live music and… that’s all! fantastic place, jamaican relax into the city!

I never knew there’s a Afro-​Caribbean beach in the middle of Berlin. Yep, you heard me right. Sand and all. And it’s so easy to get to, as Ostbahnhof is just across the street.
Honestly, this is one of those places where I personally would not even think of venturing into, if I were alone. However, a companion and I were taking a long walk through the city one fine afternoon, and this was on our route. Perfect place for lunch. African street food, eaten on a sand bar. They only have a handful of items on the menu.
We both got the rice topped with meat and vegetables in peanut sauce. I think they call it Domoda or something, for 5,00 EUR. There’s also a vegetarian option, and they can also give you couscous if you don’t want rice.
There’s also a bar at the back; we got beers and sat down on the sand facing the river afterward. They have this chip system where you pay the deposit, and they give you a chip. Later on, you return the chip, and you get your deposit money back.
Overall, it was a nice corner of Berlin, one of those things that I can imagine makes Berlin quirky and weird. Oh how I love this city.

Musikprogramm wechselnd, von Reggae bis Techno alles dabei.
Preislich eher günstig.
Bleibt hoffentlich noch lange erhalten.

Es ist immer wichtig, dass Groß-​Städte auch solche Freiräume haben, in denen es Begegnungen geben kann, die auch dem sozialen Klima mehr als gut tun, daher ist es traurig, wenn solche wenigen Freiräume immer wieder verschoben werden, so dass eine Verwurzelung erschwert wird.

Yaam beach bar is a slice of the Caribbean in the middle of Berlin. Sitting just off the Spree in Friedrichshain, it’s super easy to get to (it’s a 2 minute walk from Ost Bahnhof).
It sits at the end of East Side Gallery, and is a great place to stroll along to after eyeing up some graffitti. Kick off your shoes and swap concrete for sand as you step inside its scribbled gates. Tucked behind multicoloured walls, you can lounge on a deckchair, in a hut or swing wildly on a hammock as you enjoy some strong (but tasty) cocktails.
It’s a Caribbean cave of wonders, and you can wind down to the side of the Spree, which is bejewelled in fairylights, or prop up the bar and enjoy some of the reggae music during the evening.
Despite the fact Yaam throws a good party, there is a distinctive family vibe during the day. Its chilled out atmosphere is favoured by the locals, and its grassroots wackiness appeals to tourists. One of the highlights of a night in Berlin, Yaam is a vibrant, warm hearted alternative to a stuffy cocktail bar, any night of the week.

This place is amazing! One of the first places I went when I came to Berlin last summer, I came back to it this summer and it’s still awesome! Sand everywhere (but beware… your toes will be dirty in you venture in barefoot) and kids playing basketball, people playing music and hanging out, and a nice beach bar with delicious (if pricey) drinks. Caipirinha is a good call here, although they use large grain brown sugar that doesn’t dissolve in the drink very well so it’s tart!
Grab a drink, dangle your legs over the Spree, watch the disco ball across the river make crazy patterns in the water, and let the afternoon slide by…

This is weather was so great, I had to go to a beach club. We ended up here and I loved Yaam. It really makes you feel like you are on vacation with all the sand and African style food and drinks. Yes there are some people here that are a bit «out» but that is part of the charm, you can be whoever you wanna be here. I also loved that you can go right down to the Spree and sit by the water! The drinks are priced OK, a bit more pricey than what I would have expected but still affordable. The staff is great and they also have some stalls in the beach club, so you can buy African food, some jewelry, and also get all glittered up by one of the stalls. They also have a nice dance floor and two stages with music. I will be coming back here soon!

Although it was a chilly winter day, a beer and a smoke could be had peacefully by the river.
Jerk chicken and tropical drinks available. But I opted for the beer, which seemed to come with a free banana from my new Rastah friend.

Das Yaam ist meiner Meinung nach eine der besten Reaggaelocations in Berlin! Im Sommer schön draussen an der Beachbar im Sand an der Spree chillen und gute Drinks bei bestem Reggae genießen und abends dann herrlich abhotten im Club! Super DJs und häufig auch geile Livemusik! YAAMick steh uff Dir! TOP-​5-​Sterne gibts von mirdenn die Location ist klasse, die Preise mehr als fair und die Musik bisher immer Hammer!

Ce qui est marrant c’est que j’ai découvert cette adresse dès mon arrivée à l’aéroport de Berlin, un homme distribuait un flyer nous montrant de bonnes adresses non touristiques à découvrir et on papotait en anglais tout en rigolant. Je suis quelqu’un de très aventureuse et je suis donc partie à cette adresse avec un ami. Le seul petit bémol est le fait que ce site soit mal placé, on a eu du mal à le trouver et il était un petit peu loin de FriedrichstraBe (là où on était hébergé et là où il y a un peu de tout) Mis à part ça, il est bien placé géographiquement, juste au bord de la Spree, juste derrière nous avons un terrain de foot sablé, des canapé où l’on peut s’asseoir et boire une bonne bière et la musique Dumb&bass qui nous fait planer. J’ai adoré cet endroit et j’y retournerai sûrement dès que je reviendrai à Berlin.

Ach, mein Yaam. :-) Ich bin 1 – 2 Mal die Woche, es ist einfach meine liebste Strandbar. Im Sommer nach einem Tag im Büro im Sand zu sitzen, mit Freunden zu chillen oder Volleyball zu spielen und dabei Reggaemusik zu hören ist einfach Urlaubsfeeling pur. Es gibt immer wieder tolle Veranstaltungen hier, den ersten Samstag im Monat immer The Mighty Pow Pow Movement Reggae, Soca, Dancehall in einer schwitzenden schwofenden Menge das ist JAMAICA!
Das Areal des Yaam ist sehr weitläufig, diverse Sportmöglichkeiten Basketball, Volleyball, Tischtennis, Soccer, viel Sand, die Toiletten sind ok, es gibt diverse Stände und Essensstände, die Preise sind finde ich auf kleinem Niveau. Das Essen ist afrikanisch-​karibisch (jamaikanisch).
Man trifft hier Leute aus aller Welt und kommt wenn man es denn will sehr schnell mit ihnen in Kontakt. Ich finde sowas toll.
Ich wüsste einfach nicht, wo ich einen Punkt abziehen soll.
Ich hoffe, Mediaspree wird nie verwirklicht!

Mezcla única de playa urbana, plaza temática jamaiquina-​africana y donde un cocinero ofrece delicias caribeñas, pero no del Caribe latino, sino del jamaiquino. También hay algún que otro puestito con comida africana que el sábado todavía estaba cerrado. Como íbamos a comer en otro lugar, en el bolichito jamaiquino sólo pedimos un jerk chicken delicioso acompañado de buñuelos de mandioca, pero nos quedamos con las ganas de probar una sopa de pescado (en la cual sirven el pescado completo, cabeza incluida). Definitivamente volveremos más adelante, cuando todos los puestitos hayan abierto, y claro está para aprovechar el gran arenero.

One of the best locations in Berlin– and the last location of subculture in that area.
Sitting on the beach, drinking a beer, enjoy good music and calm people around you. The atmosphere is the oases of subculture in the middle of the media-​spree-​desert around the railway-​station ostbahnhof.
Beside the beach– bar, there are some really nice events for young musicians and good energetic parties the total year. The beach bar is closed in the winter, but the parties makes the winter in Berlin more colorful :)
Fazit: If you visit berlin, go there drink a beer and enjoy the atmosphere of the old berlin, before the tourist inversion was there.

Ich bin hier gerne, ‘n bissl viel Grasgeruch an manchen Stellen (Gras nicht Gras :) und am Sonntag gibt es sogar leckeres ziemlich authentisches Essen auf dem Young African Arts Market (kostet dann aber Eintritt)
Sehr relaxed und chillig, das einzige was am Eingang nervt ist diese Kontrolle, ob man Getränke dabei hat. Das macht eigentlich jede Strandbar, aber ich finde es einfach assi. Meine Freundin hat fast immer eine Wasserflasche dabei, wenn wir unterwegs sind und ich meißtens auch. Naja, vielleicht ändert sich da ja was diesen Sommer.

I found this joint while walking from mitte to the east side gallery.
It’s the Youth African Arts Movement. It has graffiti all over it, what I assume are free walls, a beach area right along the canal, a caribbean food shack and a dance hall.
We went back for a reggae/​hip hop show one of the nights and had a great time. The music was awesome and it all around had a great vibe.
I was there in the dead of winter and can only imagine the parties at this place in the summer.

Das Yaam ist die bessere Bar 25, die nur rund 100m weiter das Ufer runter liegt und am eigenen Ego zugrunde gegangen ist. Hier kommt jeder rein und die Stimmung ist gelassen und tolerant.
Nirgendwo sonst in Berlin ist die afrikanische Kultur (auch über den Karibik-​Umweg) so heimisch wie hier. Und deshalb auch nicht überraschend ist eine beachtliche Anzahl auch afrikanisch. Man muss es mögen. Also alle Ethno-​Fans und Afrika-​Liebhaber: rein spaziert!
Trotz Ethnologie-​Studium habe ich den Zugang noch nicht ganz gefunden, vielleicht auch weil ich nicht kiffe, aber eine Sympathie meinerseits ist gegeben.
Seeed, die den Laden als Heimstätte bezeichnen, habe ich in den dreimal, die ich da war, noch nicht gesehen.
Yaam gehört zum besseren Drittel.

Das Yaam ist nicht nur im Sommer ein sehr schöné Location um zu Reggae und Dancehall durch die Nacht zu tanzen.
Das Publikum ist sehr gemischt.
Die Getränkepreise sind in einem guten Mittelfeld.
Außerdem ist es auch sehr beliebt bei Künstlern aus der Szene, die im Yaam immer ein heißes Publikum erwarten können.

Great music, nice people and beach volley…

Das YAAM ist immer noch Berlins einzige Strandbar, die öffentliche Gelder zur Aufrechterhaltung des Betriebes bekommt. Dass das so ist und wofür wissen eigentlich die Wenigsten. Viele kommen wegen der guten Lage direkt zwischen Ostbahnhof und Spree, die meisten weil sie irgendwann mal so ein Ding mit der Rastafari-​Kultur am Laufen hatten. Nicht wenige davon können heute schon selbst laufen :)
Solcherlei Jugendarbeit wird allerdings nicht bezuschusst, alle anderen Arten schon. Ortwin (oder auch nur Papa Yaam genannt) ist schließlich selbst ausgebildeter Sozialarbeiter. Eigenltich nur nebenbei betreibt das Yaam ein Konzertbooking, das mit zu den besten im Raggae-​Dance-​Bereich in Deutschland zählt.

I YAAM!
Leider war ich bis jetzt nur einmal da aber ich werde aufjeden wieder da feiern wenn ich in Berlin bin! Ein muss! Es wurde top Hip-​Hop gespielt. die ganze Nacht durch… und morgens gleich nach dem dancen haben wir Basketball gespielt und am Strand gesessen… SUPER! hmmm. glaub ich fahr nach Berlin diese WE. lol! Reggae im Yaam is garantiert auch 5 Star.

Das Yaam ist in Berlin zu einer multikulturelleren Kultur & Sportstätte herangereift und bringt nicht nur Menschen aus Afrika, Brasilien oder der Karibik zusammen, sondern es mischt sich auch mit Berliner Szenegänger und den türkischen Kids aus Kreuzberg.
Das Yaam ist für Eltern mit ihren Kindern genauso eine Wohlfühl– Area geworden, wie für heranwachsende Jugendliche.
Im Yaam läuft immer Reggae oder Black Music in unterschiedlichsten Styles über ein Soundsytem oder ein DJ legt auf.
Am Wochenende spielen oft Live– Bands während die Gäste sich urbanen Sportarten, wie Streetball, Footbag, Soccer und Skateboarden hingeben. Nach einem sportlichen Miteinander kann man seinen Hunger gleich an den dargebotenen Essensständen stillen.
Das Yaam vereint in einer Outdoor Location an der Spree aber auch noch urbaneKunst, wie Graffiti oder andere Streetart Ausdrucksmittel die die Straße so zu bieten hat. Es hält sich durch Eigeninitiative der Künstler und Gäste, sowie von ehrenamtlichen Mitarbeitern.
Wie lange so eine wichtige urbane Kultur– und Integrations– Location noch als Zwischennutzung an der Spree bleiben darf ist ungewiss.
Und deswegen sollte jeder der in der Nähe vom Yaam ist einfach mal hin und das ganze mit einer Geld Spende wie zum Beispiel durch Kauf eines Getränkes, unterstützen.

Sonne, Sand und Meer. oder halt die Spree. Reicht aber auch schon, um im Yaam mal richtig die Füße hoch legen zu können. Mit nem Bier von der Bar in einem der Liegestühle, direkt an der Spree oder einfach im Sand, dazu chilligen Reggea aus der Dose oder von diversen DJs, so kann man hier wunderbar den Feierabend einleuten.
Im Sommer ist das Yaam nur leider oft sehr überfüllt, so dass es dann nur noch wenig mit Entspannung zu tun hat.
Trotzdem sehr lohnenswert.

Sommer, Sonntag, Yaam. Diese drei Dinge gehören einfach zusammen.
Als Club bietet das Yaam zwar auch einiges für alle Reggaefans, doch ich bevorzuge des Sonntag Nachmittags ins Yaam zu gehen.
Dann kann man die unterschiedlichsten Köstlichkeiten probieren, dazu Reggaemusik und Sandstrand. Es herrscht eine Stimmung wie beim legendären Summerjam und es fällt mir eigentlich nur noch ein Wort ein: entspannt!

Ich liebe das Yaam und ich liebe Reggae. Am besten passt beides in den Sommer und dann ist das Yaam eine der besten Locations überhaupt. Man kann direkt am Spreestrand chillen, essen, trinken, Beach-​Volleyball spielen und einfach mit super vielen netten Menschen, Groß und Klein abhängen.
Das afrikanische Essen ist sehr lecker und am Strand mit einer gekühlten Kokosnuss… wow.
Man lernt im Yaam viele neue Leute kennen, die Partys und Konzerte sind auch immer sehr angenehm, es gibt einfach keinen Stress. Super Laden!
Ab und an sieht man hier auch mal Seeed oder Ohrbooten zu einem spontanen Sommer-​Jam.

Das Yaam hat wirklich eine großartige Außenanlage. Die Füße in den Sand stecken mit dem Blick auf die Spree oder Sandkörner zählen, im Yaam kann man sich schon irgendwie seine Zeit vertreiben. Dafür sorgt auch das vielfältige Angebot an Veranstaltungen. Sport, Parties, Konzerte, Contests oder einfach nur Freunde treffen.
Als Club hat er langsam, also für mich, ausgedient… manchmal finden zwar noch gute Konzerte statt, aber irgendwie überzeugen mich die Parties nicht mehr soo.
Aber als Anlaufstelle mit Tradition für alle passionierten Reggae– und Raggatones ist es ein Muss.

Die Adresse für alle Reggeafans! OpenAir Strand, Fressbuden, viele viele verschiedene Veranstaltungen und Leute bewegen sich dort und hängen dort ab. Man macht Sport, liegt rum, hört Musik, spielt mit Kindern, unterhält sich international und fühlt sich auch so.
Dort wird sooo viel angeboten, dass man den ganzen OSmmer da verbringen könnte, ohne Dopplungen!
DAs Yaam ist schon mehrere Male in Berlin umgezogen und hat nun endlich seinen festen Platz (hoffentlich) gefunden. Es ist aus Berlin nicht mehr wegzudenken und ist auch eintragender Faktor, weshalb sich so viele internationale Mneschen bei uns wohl fühlen. Alles ganz gechillt und locker. Ob es um Konzerte, Parties oder nur ums entspannen geht!

Le Yaam c’est une boîte et une plage pour boire des coups en extérieur. Comme partout l’entrée est payante mais pas chère, genre 5E. On y trouve du son Drum&Bass mais surtout des concerts et soirées reggae ragga dancehall ska. Généralement on s’y amuse bien.

une adresse utile et une obligation pour toutes personnes aimant la scèné underground. Seul petit hic il y a un paf de 5 euros, mais bon une fois dedans c’est le plaisir assurer pour toutes personnes aimant ce poser sur une belle plage de sable puis aller ce défouler dans une salle drum&bass. Enfin bon tous ça pour vous dire que c’est un endroit incontournable. ciao
