Un endroit sympa pour prendre un verre et dîner simplement après une après midi au Tiergarten. Nourriture simple, ici c’est basique mais cela fait aussi le charme du lieu. Nous l’avons fait fin mai eu ce n’était pas bondé, je pense que cela favorise le lieu qui petit être assez bruyant

We went here on Sunday lunch time in April — the weather was chilly so not many people around.
The setting is lovely and I can imagine it gets very busy in summer.
It is directly behind the zoo, beside the river.
We just had drinks here so can’t comment on the food.
Service was good and friendly.

Im Sommer ein toller Biergarten im Tiergarten von dem aus man fast noch einen Blick auf die Zootiere erhaschen kann. Sie bieten Neuland-​Fleisch vom Grill und Flammkuchen an. Getränke und Bier vom Fass gibt’s an einer Außentheke in Selbstbedienung, so dass es in der Regel sehr schnell geht. Während der Fußball WM und EM übrigens auch ein beliebter Ort zum Mitfiebern.
Auch im Winter ists drinnen einigermaßen gemütlich und große Fenster ermöglichen einen Blick auf den Kanal. Drinnen gibt’s Tisch-​Service.
Das Essen ist von sehr guter Qualität und birgt meistens einige tolle Überraschungen. Ich begrüße die kreative Küche (deutsch-​modern) sehr, weil man hier auch mal Dinge findet, die man eben auch in Berlin nicht auf jeder zweiten Speisekarte sieht. Alles, was ich dort bisher gegessen habe, war lecker und für 5 € (Suppe) –15 € (Hauptgericht Fleisch) auch in einem nicht super preidwerten aber annehmbaren Rahmen. Besonders bei den Fleischgerichten muss erwähnt werden, dass sie Neuland-​Fleisch beziehen und auch generell einige Bio-​Zutaten verwenden. Den Dessert –Hunger stillen wirklich unglaubliche Torten und Kuchen, teilweise sogar hausgemacht. Ein Nachtisch lohnt sich!

Etwas überteuert aber im Sommer ein schöner Ort um nach der Arbeit noch etwas kleines zu Essen und zu trinken. Die Mitarbeiter sind sehr freundlich. Das ganze wirkt wie eine kleine Oase in der Wüste– ruhig und wenn man Durst hat ein toller Ort fürn Bierchen.

Das Essen ist genial: frisch und saisonal.
Manchmal zu voll und zu laut.

Ein Ausflugslokal am Rande des Tiergartens
Selbstbedienung, aber das Essen auf Restaurant-​Niveau; Immer frisch, immer saisonal, für jeden Geschmack etwas dabei, große vegetarische Auswahl an Speisen und eine pittoreske 50er Jahre Ausstattung.
Immer wieder ein Genuss, nach einem Spaziergang durch den Park, zu jeder Jahres– und Tageszeit.
Soliden, schmackhaften Kuchen gibt es auch!

Ganz ok, im Sommer ziemlich überfüllt und so gut wie keine Sitzplätze vorhanden, lange Schlangen vor der Bar/​Bestellfenster, Preise sind happig.

Die Location ist toll, aber sehr von Touris überrannt. Trotzdem bekommt man seine Getränke flott und kann schön aufs Wasser gucken.

Ich vergeb die 4 Punkte für die Sommerzeit in der es auch immer diesen wundervollen Sommersalat gibt, der mir schon letztes Jahr sehr gut gemundet hat. Auch der Salat mit Ziegenkäse-​Sauce und Kürbis-​Schnitzern ist sehr lecker und hochwertig, das war trotz ordentlicher Portion fast schon zu Appetitanregend. Draußen sitzen ist auch schön, da im Außenbereich viele Tische vorhanden sind und der Aufbau recht verwinkelt ist. Wenn nicht die Wespenplage zu große ist, kann man sich da wunderbar entspannen.

Der Schleusenkrug, ist nach unserem Vierten Versuch dort endlich einen Platz zu bekommen, ein netter Ort an dem mann Abends gut ein Bier und né Bockwurst essen kann.
Leider sind die die Preise hier überdurchschnittlich, was aber nicht auf eine besondere Leistung oder Location schließen lässt.
Leider zu voll, sehr eng und teuer, dass ich den Schleusenkrug als Biergarten nicht empfehlen kann.

Really cool environment where you can enjoy a huge jug of beer and eat delicious foods. The place breaks down into two restaurants — one that has more entrees and the other different sausages and quick eats.
Came here for a bike tour and had the allgauer buble beer (recommended), the meatballs and potatoes wedges, and the german pasta. The meatballs were delicious and covered in the berlin favorite curry sauce and came with perfectly grilled potato wedges, a side of salad, and coleslaw. The German pasta was like a light white cheese mac and cheese with pasta that looked like longer macaroni. Didn’t love this but was a good try. The meatballs were bomb and made me love curry sauce even more!
Also, theres live music playing so you and your company can drink, eat, and enjoy together.

It was love at first sight. I got lost on the way back home while leaving the Tiergarten and stumble upon a lively and cheerful sounding beer garden by the canal. I bookmarked the spot and ran home to get my husband and cousins and we loved it. I don’t think there are that many places that combine the right ingredients for paradise-​like happiness like this one: right by the woods of the Tiergarten, on the canal, right next to bike lanes, far enough from city sounds, good beer and nice music. Simply perfect, I’m in love.

Ich liebe euren Flammkuchen… So lecker… Spanisch… Mit serano und Rucola. Der beste, den ich je gegessen hab. Der entschädigt sogar für den Self-​Service!

So glad I managed to visit a super cool beer garden before leaving Berlin! I came here with Fat Tire Tours, and they didn’t disappoint in taking us to an awesome place to get dinner. You order at either counter (set dishes in one line and barbeque/​grilled items downstairs), and I had the schnitzel (fried breaded pork chop… it’s okay if you didn’t know what schnitzel was before this trip… I didn’t, haha) served over a bed of potatoes, with delicious cranberry and horseradish sauces and side salad on the side. It was really good, although a bit pricier than what you could find at other restaurants. But given the perfect weather and down-​to-​earth atmosphere, I think it was pretty worth it. I also had the «erdinger urweisse hefe» beer, which I really recommend — especially if you normally don’t like beer (aka me). It’s a wheat beer, really light and refreshing, and a slight fruity/​floral flavor. (I apologize for my less-​than-​impressive description of beer.)
My table didn’t have to wait too long for our food, though the table (also part of the bike tour) had to wait an hour for their order due to a mix up, so the minimal service can be hit and miss, especially when they’re busy. Overall, a great place to go with a group of friends or even meet people (sharing tables) and enjoy some yummy German food and beer!
FYI: You do have to pay to use their outdoor bathrooms. I didn’t really expect it, especially since we’re paying customers.

Ich bin öfters dort und für mich ist es einer der schönsten Biergärten Berlins und immer wieder komme ich da gerne, weil die Atmosphäre einfach stimmt und man viele Berliner und Touristen trifft, bei denen meistens ihre Fahrradtour durch Berlin genau dort endet und Sie so ihre Erlebnisse mit dem Guide und einem Bier oder anderem Getränk untereinander am Biertisch untereinander austauschen und dort noch was zuessen bestelllen, was echt gut schmeckt, aber auch nicht wirklich günstig ist. Great location. Just in the park close to Zoo. A contemporary classic. Even worth it coming over from the east :)
All ingredients and meet from organic farming. First class Asparagus, they do it amazingly good!

Located past the zoo within Tiergaeten this is a great outdoor beer garden to enjoy some drinks and they serve bbq /​German food with a great desert selection. It’s self service so grab a table and go up and order.

Came here on a lovely day in Berlin. The place was sooo full but we were lucky to find a seat. Self service so you go up to the bar.
We didn’t have food here only drinks but the grill was open and the smell wafting over us was amazing!
Really fab spot in Tiergarten and is a must see stop if you’ve visited the zoo or had a wander through Tiergarten!

Schleusenkrug. Ein Biergarten der rustikalen Art, der sich ganz gut versteckt Nähe Bahnhof Zoo und ein bisschen durch ‘né Grünanlage. Am besten zu Fuss oder mit dem Rad erreichbar.
Der Biergarten ist in 3 Ebenen und in Bierzeltgarnituren unten am Wasser und oben mit Tischen und Stühlen eingerichtet.
Es gibt eine Ausgabe und um die Ecke bei Wetter nen Grill. Man gibt die Tisch Nr. an. Wird dann gebracht.
Das Essen war keine Offenbarung-​auch preislich nicht.
Wir teilten uns einen Grillteller.
Ok. Muss mich revidieren. Das Fleisch ist von Neuland und es gibt «Das Eis».
Das BioEis aus Wiesbaden. Like!
Aber die Location hat was. Für né Kleinigkeit und was trinkbares ok. Chillen gratis.
Manchmal kommt ein Schiff vorbei, meistens die SBahn. Selfservice.
Gemischtes Völckchen hier. Kein SchickiMicki. Gefällt!

Diesmal besser. Im Sommer draussen. Das Essen kommt schnell. Trotz Selbstbediennung geht es flüssig. Der Ort ist gut besucht, aber es verläuft sich im Garten. Hier findet jeder seinen Platz.

I got lost wandering through the Tiergarten attempting to find my way to my hostel near the zoo. I stopped along a bridge to take a few photos and found this building with paintings hanging on the outside. Yes. Paintings. Outside instead of on the walls indoors.
As I turned the corner, not only were the paintings accompanied by beautiful chandeliers, also hanging on the outside) but I discovered this eccentric building is also a delicious café. Seeing as I had gone four hours without eating or drinking (navigating large parks has never been my strong suit) I was determined to have a milchkaffe.
They were out of most pastries and being my first day in Berlin, I had no idea what I was looking at on the menu. The gentleman behind the counter recognized my struggle and suggested I try one of their cakes. Cake falls somewhere in the food pyramid. So yes. I will have my cake and eat it too!
Holy. Smokes. Un. Real. Just in my first bite I died and went to heaven. And then I photographed the desert because I finally discovered what heaven tastes like. It’s a raspberry gelatin fluffy white cake with a tall milchkaffe I tell you. I’ve posted the photo so you can see what I’m talking about. And yes. It looks as good as it tastes.
I ended up playing sailor on the children’s boat they’ve provided around the back. Because I’m an adult. And even adults want to be captain on the USS Awesomesauce. I also sat at the water’s edge and watched the river rise and fall to let vessels through. All the while drinking my milchkaffe through a bed straw. Again. Because I am a fully capable adult.
Should I admit I ate here six more times fmduring my four day adventure in Berlin? I don’t know if it’s the awesome patio, the delicious deserts, or the quirky décor, but this place stole my heart.
If you’ve finished for the day at the zoo or have also spent four hours trying to find your way through the Tiergarten, add this place to your list of must eats. You won’t be disappointed!

Seit Jahren gibt es hier eine hervorragende kreative Küche mit frischen und hochwertigen Zutaten (z. B. Neuland-​Fleisch). Die Atmosphäre ist sehr angenehm, das Personal freundlich. Ein Wermutstropfen ist allerdings die fast 15-​prozentige Preiserhöhung beim Bier in diesem Jahr. 4 Euro bis 4,50 Euro je nach Sorte für Selbstbedienungsgastronomie finde ich entscheidend zu hoch. Offensichtlich wird nun in erster Linie auf touristische Laufkundschaft gesetzt. Schade, dann gibt’s eben ab sofort nur noch ein Bier zum nach wie vor sehr guten Essen!

Die ersten Sonnenstrahlen in Berlin heißt: Erster Biergartenbesuch des Jahres.
Da wir sowieso grad im Tiergarten waren, sind wir nachmittags für ein Stündchen im Schleusenkrug eingekehrt. Großes Plus ist natürlich die Lage an der Schleuse — leider kann man diese nicht von allen Sitzgelegenheiten einsehen, was die Bänke in den hinteren Reihen nicht so attraktiv macht.
Der Biergarten war rappelvoll, was leider mit längeren Wartezeiten einherging. Und einen Punkt Abzug gibt es jetzt noch ob der Preise: 4 Euro für ‘né Rostbratwurst im Brötchen finde ich tatsächlich fast ‘né Frechheit. Mit 2 Flaschen Bier und 2 Bratwürsten waren wir also bei 16 Euro gelandet. Da gibt es doch sehr viel preiswertere Sonnenalternativen in Berlin.
Fazit: Wer auf Biergärten und Schiffe steht, ist hier genau richtig. Ansonsten kann man vorbeischauen, wenn man in der Gegend ist. Muss man aber auch nicht.

Der Schleusenkrug im Tiergarten ist ein super Restaurant, vor allem wenn die Sonne Berlin erhellt und es alle Berliner auf die Straßen zieht. Dann Platz genommen auf einem der vielen Bänke in der Nähe eines Schleusenarmes und zackig ein Bier bestellt. Im Sommer ist sind dafür auch mehrere Bars geöffnet. Das Essen wird schnell zubereitet und schmeckt wirklich super. Die Portionen sind auch wirklich groß, und das sag ich als Vielfrass.
Ich kann wirklich empfehlen hier mal vorbeozuschauen. Innen ist zwar auch nett aber wirklich schön ist es beim Bierchen draußen in der Sonne.

Schleusenkurg is one of the Biergarten inside the Tiergarten. It’s very close to the river side. that made it a very nice place to just sit down and have yourself a relaxing day.
This place is completely self-​service. Which is great in some way. For example, no need to waste time to wait for someone to come over. All you need to do just to find a nice table and occupie it. You can make your order at the entrance. Just remember have some cash with you. It easier and faster to get the drinks. They also offer some German dishes and cakes.
I was here with my study colleagues for drinks. It was very lovely day. Blue sky and sun shine, the trains passed by many time, just next to us, it was quite cool, and the atmosphere was quite nice as well. Most of the seats are outdoor. There are some also on the boat. Drinks here were ok. The drinks was nothing special, at least I haven’t seen anything special on the menu. Somehow it’s still manage to be one of the popular place for locals. I do have some ideas why through. Didn’t really try the food, but they looked nice.
Beside the beautiful Tiergarten, it also fairly close to the Zoo, Zoo Palast, also some shopping centers around and S-​/​U-​bahnhof Zoologischer Garten. I find this place very easy to get around. You can enjoy the beauty and the peaceful of the nature in one hand, another hand the city side just close by. When you got a suddenly feeling, want to shop something, just go for it.

Zum wiederholten Male kehre ich bei meinem Besuch in Berlin hier ein und bestelle die wundervolle Kürbissuppe.
Und wiedermal bin ich sehr zufrieden mit dem Service, der Location und der Kueche.
Zum Dank vergebe ich 5 Sterne und kann den Schleusenkrug jede empfehlen, der sich nach einem Spaziergang im Tiergarten hier aufwärmen möchte.

Alt eingesessener Biergarten an der Schleuse im Tiergarten. Große Auswahl an lecker zubereiteten und nett präsentierten Frühstücken und gut gewürzten Mittagessen, die auf Wunsch auch abgewandelt werden. Bestellt wird am Fenster im Garten, wobei man die Nr. des Tisches, an den man sich setzen wird, bereits ansagen muss. Bezahlt wird sofort. Auf die Getränke kann man warten und sie gleich mit an den Tisch nehmen. Die Speisen werden nachgeliefert. An schönen Tagen sitzt es sich herrlich in dem riesigen Biergarten. Die Sitzgelegenheiten drinnen sehen auch gemütlich aus, sind jedoch beschränkter, wenn auch trotzdem noch großzügig. Das Ganze hat den Chic der späten 80er Jahre, Tische und Stühle wurden teilweise mal nachgekauft, der Rest bedürfte mal einer Überarbeitung. Die Bedienung ist flott und freundlich, die Atmosphäre eher charlottenburg-​wilmersdorflerisch als man sie z.B. in Mitte anzutreffen würde.

Der Schleusenkrug ist ein gemütlicher Biergarten im Grünen. Zentral gelegen am Zoo und nicht gänzlich überlaufen von Touristen. Rappelvoll ist er meist trotzdem. Größere Gruppen sollten unbedingt vorher reservieren.
Die günstigen Preise sind inzwischen Vergangenheit, doch sie bleiben im Berliner Durchschnitt. Die Auswahl an Getränken und Speisen ist übersichtlich, doch Biergärten sind eben keine Gourmet-​Tempel. Dafür ist die Qualität prima. Klasse statt Masse. Leider ist manchmal am frühen Abend bereits einiges von der Speisekarte ausverkauft. Man sollte im Schleusenkrug besser nicht spät mit leerem Magen einkehren.
Die Atmosphäre ist dufte, und das macht einen guten Biergarten aus.

The food an Schleusenkrug is alright but it’s the year 2014 and they still don’t accept eletronic payments (no credit cards). Come on! That’s just bad service. I certainly don’t like to walk around any city with wads of cash on me. And ultimately this is bad business as it also leads to people spending less money. I’m noticing that Berlin restaurants and bars on the whole are getting more tourists and electronic payments friendly. This business does not so I’m not going back until it does.

We stopped here for dinner as part of a Bike tour with Fat Tyre Bike Tour’s in Berlin. Had the schnitzel and a local beer. Atmosphere was full of locals having drinks and dinner after work. A great German experience however slightly pricey compared to other dinner destinations!

Ein kleiner netter Biergarten mitten im Tiergartengrün und nahe zum Kanal, wo man die ganzen Kleinboote erleben kann. Das Lokal ist gerade für welche, die Abstand aus dem Großstadttrubel suchen, eine gelungene Abwechslung im Grünen und sehr angenehm. Die Getränkeauswahl ist zwar nun nicht überragend, aber dafür ist es auch «nur» ein Biergarten. Das Publikum: gemischt, der Service: zuvorkommend, die Preise: angemessen! ;o)
Fazit: erlebenswert!

Ich erwarte in einem Biergarten absolut kein kulinarisches Highlight und habe es hier aber bekommen. Ich esse eher fleischlos und wenn, dann Bio Fleisch. Auch deshalb hat mich die Speisekarte mehr als begeistert: ganz viele vegetarische Gerichte und das Fleisch ist Neuland! Die Gerichte haben sich alle fantastisch angehört und da wir mit einer großen Gruppe im Schleusenkrug waren haben wir uns durch so einiges durchprobiert. Alles fantastisch! Frisch, kreativ, fein gewürzt, einfach super lecker! Und das für einen absolut moderaten Preis und große Portionen.
Hier ist für den anspruchsvollen Gourmet, den Veganer und den klassischen Grillliebhaber etwas dabei und die Qualität ist trotz dieses Spagats sehr hoch! Ein Hoch auf die Köche. Die Atmosphäre ist auch stimmig. Man kann wenn es regnet überdacht sitzen bzw. in die Innenräume gehen, was bei den normalen Biergärten nicht möglich ist. Service war sehr freundlich und gut organisiert.

They speak perfect English here like the rest of Germany. Better than most places back home. Love Germany, Love Berlin, Love this place. The surroundings are spectacular.

Plasticky food didn’t win me over. Located next to the Zoo, the surrounds are quite beautiful, but the food is not great. I probably should have stuck with the BBQ and a sausage rather than going for something salad-​ish and fresh. They don’t do the latter genre well. Does have a big beer garden and the beer is good, just don’t go for salad.

We’ve bot the tip from another group. Nice beer garden. completely self service, but the staff were friendly and the food was OK. The rain did not bother.

Great hidden gem near the Berlin Zoo. Has an extensive beer garden, large selection of beers, and a decent menu. We ordered the schnitzel, which was big enough to split with another person. Be forewarned: they don’t have time for your shitty attempts at German. They’ll just respond to you in English.

I’m about 65% sure that this translates to: «The grill is open.»
If so, then it confirms my otherwise un-​supported theory that the real German language is virtually identical to an ignorant American speaking English in a bad German accent. I just wanted to throw that out there.

So Schleusenkrug is the beer garden in Tiergarten. In addition to rhyming, this makes it a perfect place to grab a shockingly huge meal when you’re taking a break from the zoo, the park, and everything else going on inside the park. It also happens to be where Fat Tire Bike Tours stop for a mid-​tour break.
It’s the beer garden I see in my dreams. Huge communal tables, lights strung all around, garlic hanging from the rafters, ivy growing along the columns… it’s a beautiful sight for a beer lover. Sunshine and beer just can’t be bad.
In terms of food, you have two options:
1. The grill that serves sausages, German potato salad, cucumbers, kraut and more.
2. The more formal counter where you order beer, as well as plates of schnitzel, pasta, pizza and more.
Shockingly enough, I found the brats and merguez from the grill to be a bit dry, although the sides it was served with were fantastically filling. And even stranger, the PIZZA was the real star. It’s very thin crust, and so damn tasty. I would’ve gone with the bacon pie, but her pie with goat cheese, plum tomatoes, onions and more was incredibly satisfying all the same.
If I were you, I’d get yourself some beer, split a pie between two people, and weep because this place is half a world away from your house.

Only ever had the beer here. So rating is more for atmosphere than anything else. But it is a fun and relaxing place to sit outside and enjoy 500mls of something tasty. A good resting spot after walking around and seeing the sights.

This place is cool. We stopped here in the middle of my Fat Tire Bike Tour so we could hydrate and replenish our energy with food. The food isn’t anything spectacular, but it’s more of a brats/​sausage joint with beer. It’s situated in the garden which makes it a fun place to hang out with other tourists.

Few meters away from the zoo, and in the middle of the tiergarten park, u can enjoy a nice beer, the view of cute little boots sailing through the canal… and maybe hear the lions roaring from inside the zoo.
I was here once on a company celebration, and we all had an amazing time, maybe that explains the five stars… but check for yourselves.

Totally overprized, the service ain’t that good either. The food doesn’t taste that well and costs way too much (untasty potato salad with leberkäse for 7 EUR, yeah right…). If you have any little side orders, they charge heaps extra and this for a tiny lamb sausage which wasn’t even cooked properly, but burnt on the outside.
Also too the location is by far not the nicest…
