Very good food and service compared to other local dinner. Food was excellent. I would recommend it if you are new to the area as we were.

Service was so bad! The waiter was cold, and super low. Waited for 10 min to get our check and another 10 to get him take payment. Would not recommend to anyone with a schedule.

I came her on my last day evening in Berlin. Close to the square and close to my hotel. They make the staff wear traditional clothing. I could are less about what they wear but def trying to lure in more tourist. Prices are average to mid. Food was good. Tried the sausages and came with mash and sauerkraut. Staff was bilingual and friendly. Its not on a main street so it was quiet.

Ideal German restaurant, not expensive. Great service, good food. We enjoyed it. We will definitely come back!:)

Had the Munich style bratwurst and the premium pils. Great German meal and close to Checkpoint Charlie.

Schnelle, recht freundliche Bedienung. Das Essen ist gut und auch noch recht warm. Was mich persönlich sehr stört ist die unglaubliche Lautstärke die im Restaurant herscht.

Pretty much everything you’d want for a good dining spot. It’s in good proximity to a lot of locations so it’s not far off the beaten path. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere (although the entrance is a bit odd around the corner). When we came in for dinner there was a nice mix of tourists and locals, along with a company Christmas party. The staff was friendly and will to explain the menu. The prices were decent and the menu offered many different options. The food itself was all very tasty and the portions were very large. Definitely worth a trip.

We were referred to Maximilian’s by a nearby restaurant owner who had a full night of bookings and no table for us. It’s very touristy looking but there were several locals inside. We were seated right away and service was speedy and efficient. The server spoke English but tolerated our poor attempts at speaking German. I had a potato soup for appetizer, the chicken and Suisse potatoes with pear and cheese for main. My husband had the «sausage parade» for a main. The soup was just ok but the chicken and pears with cheese — wow! Best meal I’ve had in Germany. My husband liked his sausage parade also, lol. Would go back in a heartbeat.

Good food, not bad prices. Friendly staff and service. However we waited a really long time for our food and had to complain before they got going delivering the food. They gave us a snapps shot free because of the wait. Fair play and the food was worth the wait… Just. Would suggest booking rather than walking in. Overall good 3 stars but nothing spectacular.

My wife’s pork was a bit dry, but came with delicious gravy to make up for it… the dumplings were also delicious.

Die Location ist gemütlich & einladend, wo man gepflegt ein paar Bier trinken kann. Die Essenskarte ist auch ganz beachtlich, die Speisen sind mittelmäßig bis ganz gut von der Qualität, teils echt große Portionen. Das Personal war auch freundlich. Stimmungsmäßig was lau, aber halt in Ordnung. 3 Sterne & kann man mal hin, warum nicht

Great bavarian food for a good price with attentive staff.
We had schnitzel, which was tender, sausage platter with salad, which was taart, camembert meatloaf which amazing, as well the cucumber and cabbage salad.

Vom Angebot her ist Maximilian’s Angebot echt nicht zu verachten. Ein breites Angebot mit gutem Geschmack und anständigen Preisen. Auch das Ambiente ist authentisch.
Ich hatte den «Filetteller Maximilian» und ich muss ehrlich sagen, dass mir das Hähnchen und Schweinefleisch zu trocken waren, um dem essen ein ‘sehr gut’ zu geben. Außerdem ist der Service zu langsam und selten wirklich freundlich. Nicht, dass die Kellner sich Mühe geben unfreundlich zu sein aber sie machen auch keinen Anstand, dass es eine sonderlich positive Erfahrung wird.

The touristic place with little attempt to looks like a traditional Bavarian restaurant. Quite big portions with touristic price however.
I would recommend it if you’re in the centre of Berlin and looking for something ‘traditional’.
BTW, they have dunkel (dark) beer but no WiFi. Be careful :)

Have you ever gone to New York City and eaten at a restaurant purporting to serve authentic Texas BBQ and covered in paraphernalia on the walls trying to convince you that it’s really a little slice of Texas in the big city? That’s what Maximillians was, a Berlin restaurant trying to recreate the experience of eating in a Bavarian beer hall. Which isn’t to say there’s anything bad about that, just keep your expectations realistic.
The overall atmosphere seemed a little sterile, like it was trying to imitate a Munich beer hall with the minimum of effort, but never having been to Bavaria I can’t judge how authentic it was. The waiters were all wearing lederhosen, so I guess that’s something. The only beer available was Paulaner, which is fine but nothing special, and the food didn’t seem any different than what I could get at a German restaurant in the US, your typical sausages and sauerkraut.
There was nothing particularly bad about this place, but nothing particularly great either. Solid German food and beer in a room that could have been anywhere, but it was cheap and tasty so if that’s what you’re looking for then you won’t be disappointed.

When picking up a prepaid SIM card at a local telecom shop, we asked the clerk what his favorite spot to eat in town was and he quickly replied Maximilians and supplied us with directions. My daughter, wife and I gave it a shot on a Tuesday night and came away very pleased. We found more locals than tourists in the place which is always a good sign for us. Arriving around 8pm, there were plenty of spots available with the place maybe half full.
Our waiter appeared quickly after we were seated with a spiel of German welcomes that we promptly replied to by asking if he spoke English which he did. Yay! The menus have English subtitles under each selection making our picks for dinner quite easy. We started with a pretzel and cream cheese (I think?) and a couple dark beers in giant mugs. Both were very yummy and we quickly ordered more of each while waiting for our main course.
For dinner, my wife selected the Berlin meatballs, my daughter picked the Bratwurst and I went with the sausage parade. We shared once every arrived and it was all fabulous. The sausages were quite tasty and not overly spicy. The meatballs were equally enjoyable but perhaps a tad on the dry side. I am not much of a cabbage fan and even less so of sauerkraut but theirs tasted like nothing I have had in the US and quite good. The mashed potatoes were super creamy and gone in a flash.
Between all that beer and sausage, we had no room for desert. We did end up buying one of their mugs as a souvenir which they are happy to accommodate. Great place to eat and we would hesitate to come back again on a future trip.

We were freezing cold, hungry and thirsty when we stumbled upon this place. We thought we knew what we were in for before we went inside — we thought it was going to be tourist central, over done German themes and over priced.
Now, it is a themed restaurant — expect Bavarian costumes etc, but it was a ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ mix of Germans and tourists which was nice. We had a lovely dinner and then our stern but friendly waitress kept the beers flowing until we stumbled out the door at closing time! We honestly expected a quick bite, but ended up having one of the most fun nights of our holiday!
I had the currywurst, which I am generally obsessed with in Berlin, but usually I grab it on the go from a street vendor, so it was strange for me to have it in a restaurant — it was exactly as you would expect — delicious! :)
He had a traditional German dish of sausage, potato and sauerkraut. There were no complaints from his side of the table.

Ich war 1x im Maximilians. Die Getränke kamen schnell, das Essen hatte dann etwas länger auf sich warten lassen. Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich, hat dann aber, als es später wurde, öfter mal ein Getränk vergessen zu bringen oder es kam eine andere Bedienung an den Tisch und wollte Getränke bringen, die keiner bestellt hatte. Irgendwie kam man sich nicht so ganz 100% wilkommen vor.
Hier hätte man auch, hätte man sich etwas mehr um die 15-​Personen starke Gruppe «gekümmert», auch mehr Umsatz machen können.
Das Essen war gut, die Preise ok, die Portionen hätten teilweise etwas größer sein können, daher von mir gute 3 Punkte. Das heißt für mich, ich würde wieder hingehen, wenn ich in der Nähe nichts Besseres kenne, aber es ist für mich kein «Must-​Have».

We were looking for a traditional German dining experience when we spotted this restaurant with a very crowded outdoor seating area. What immediately sold us on Maximillian’s was the waitstaff in costume and the huge sign with a cartoonish looking man. Usually those two things would be warning signs to run far away from the restaurant but not in this case. My partners in dining had the steak with onions, schnitzel, rump steak and curry wurst. Everyone enjoyed their meals!

Ein sehr schönes Restaurand mit einer ausgezeichneten Küche und einer zuvorkommenden Bedienung. Die Portionen sind groß und die Preise für die Lage ganz in Ordnung. Es gibt sowohl eine Lunch– als auch eine Monatskarte.

Weihnachtszeit ist Weihnachtsfeiernzeit…
…und so traf man sich und dienerte im Bayrischen Lokal Maiximilian´s in der Berliner City Ost. Ich glaube, diese Gegend hat nicht die besten Speiselokale der Stadt… das Maximilian hat schon speisenmäßig Probleme, ans Mittelmaß zu kommen… so mein Eindruck.
Das Lokal ist groß, sehr groß. Augenscheinlich viele Hundert Plätze gilt es hier glücklich zu machen. Die Plätze sind an diesem Abend sehr gut belegt. Viele Nichteinheimische sind hier zu Gast, was aufgrund der touristisch interessanten Gegend nicht ungewöhnlich ist. Und genau aus diesem Grund gibt es womöglich dieses Restaurant-​Konzept an diesem Platze;-)
Bedient wird professionell und schnell. Getränke und Gerichte werden zügig, trotz Restaurantgröße und Fülle, angerichtet.
Die Preise sind (noch ok). Getränke sind frisch und lecker. Bei den Speisen bin ich unzufrieden. Ein Geschmack wie «frisch zubereitet» fehlt mir hier irgendwie. Ich bekomme den Eindruck eines «Großküchenmahl» Schnell und Gut…
Das Lokal selber ist dezent im süddeutschen Look gehalten. Nichts wirkt überladen, gut so. Aber es ist laut und voll. Stimmung kommt hier eher wenig auf. Schade, dass kenne ich aus anderen Häusern dieser Art anders.
Für Kinder eher ungeeignet.
Parkplätze in der Umgebung sind teuer und rar gesät.
Fazit: Nix für mich. Nur für Notfälle. Nettes Personal — Gute Getränke!

Also man wird wirklich bei jeden Besuch stark überrascht. Das essen wurde von Tag zu Tag interessanter… Es gibt hier sehr viele Variationen ihrer wohl sehr bekannten «braunen Sauce».
Erster Tag flüssig als Suppe dann über Saucen und an letzten Tag als Crème.
Wie gesagt… Seeeeehr interessant.
Positiv: das essen war schnell da und freundliches Personal.

Das Verhältnis von Preis– und Qualität passt hier ganz gut. Die Location ist sehr passend und angenehm eingerichtet sowohl größere Gruppe als auch kleinere Runden finden hier ihren Platz. Der Service ist immer flink und freundlich. Hauseigenes Brot und Brezn sind hier eben so gut wie die traditionellen Gerichte aus Topf und Pfanne. Der Umfang der Speisekarte ist recht ordentlich und die Preise sind für Lage und Essenqualität total im Rahmen.
Ein guter Querschnitt durch die deftige alpenländische Küche.

Mich hats mal wieder erwischt die Sehnsucht nach Heimat.
Also haben wir uns für dieses Restaurant entschieden und vorab für gut empfunden ;)
Vorspeise: Es gab Brezn mit Obatzdem und Quark,. Gut bürgerlich, alles wohlschmecken besonders der Obatzde.
Hauptgang: Natürlich Schweinebraten =) Sehr Zart gegart, also gut saftig das Fleisch, die Kruste auf dem Punkt, Semmelknödel fest und gut abgeschmeckt.
Krautsalat so wie er sein muss. Soße sehr lecker nur war diese abgebunden das ich so nicht kenne und bisher nur in Berlin gesehen habe.
Fazit: Berlin kann Bayern, und ich komm voll und ganz auf meine Kosten. Besonders erwähnenswert der Service. Wir waren am frühen Abend da, also war nicht sehr viel los. Service war absolut auf Zackund sehr charmant! Der Hauptgang kam exakt 5 min. nach der Vorspeise. Das verdient ein großes Lob !
Komme gerne wieder hier her wenn ich Sehnsucht nach der Heimat habe =)

Die Karte war sehr umfangreich. Obwohl am Freitag der Laden recht voll war, haben wir unsere Essen zügig erhalten

Zum Quick lunch gehe ich immer wieder sehr gerne ins Maximilian’s: gute Preise, gute Portionen, leckeres Essen und immer gibt es einen Nachtisch dazu.
Der Service braucht manchmal etwas lange, aber das kann man ruhig in Kauf nehmen, denn alles andere stimmt einfach.

After a long day of exploring Berlin, my stomach was growling and I was on the lookout for some authentic German cuisine (NOT currywurst).
For the first few days of my trip, I was too shy to go into any sit down restaurants alone, as I don’t speak a word of German. Except «konnen sie englisch sprechen.» hehe. I stumbled by Maximilian’s and the huge statue of the guy in lederhosen holding a beer glass was enough to sell it to me. I walked in and was told to sit anywhere I wanted. My waiter came to greet me with a menu, and as I stumbled to say «konnen sie.» he cut me off to respond, «yes, yes, I speak English, talk to me, talk to me!» As I’m writing that, I realize that it sounds a bit rude, but I assure you, it was more of like a ‘yeah! what’s up dog’ vibe.
Anyway, I ended up ordering the Maximilians Filetteller vom Schwin und Huhn auf Champignons a la crème und Bratkartoffeln. In english: Heaven. Or, pan seared chicken and pork fillets with mushrooms and fried potatoes in a cream sauce. I washed it down with a classic raspberry berliner weisse – why don’t we serve this in the states??? Definitely my favorite/​best memory of dining in Berlin.
I enjoyed my dinner so much that I brought my boyfriend here on his day off/​our last day in Berlin. I ordered the German meatballs and he ordered the sausage. It wasn’t until the server came out with a plate of two meatballs and a big sausage that we had realized what he ordered. hahah. hopefully the kitchen had a good laugh. Will definitely go back here if I ever get the chance again =)

War hier auf ein zwei Bierchen, Service war insgesamt ganz gut, nur manchmal hat es etwas länger gedauert. Der Kellner war allerdings sehr freundlich und kompetent.
Das Essen am Nachbartisch sah auf jeden Fall schon mal lecker aus ;-)

we were wandering around looking for a place for dinner away from what would for sure be tourist traps on Unter der Linden near Brandenberger Tor. i’m sure we were not walking down the right roads but it seems like few options are available, and yet fewer are open on a Saturday evening.
trusty ol’ Unilocal led us to Maximilian’s, tucked indoors on the main level of an office building. boy was it popular with the locals! there is a relaxed «patio» seating area and cozy tables and booths inside. service was a bit slow to get the menu, to take our orders, to get the cheque, to bring the bill. not sure if it’s just the more relaxed atmosphere of Europe/​Germany that we’re not used to in North America so I won’t hold it against this place.
— BERLINER EISBEIN MIT KARTOFFELN, SAUERKRAUT UND ERBSPÜREE (13,90 €) — little ol’ me gets served this dish with Berlin-​style pork hock the size of my HEAD with boiled potatoes, sauerkraut, and roasted pea purée. the pork was so flavourful and boiled to the point where the skin/​fat/​meat was all buttahhh. by the time I was finished, it looked like I had barely touched the plate form the opposite angle. more ridiculous, my leftovers proved enough for 3 tasty tasty sandwiches the following day and a half. wunderbar :)
— SCHWEINSHAXE MIT SEMMELKNÖDEL UND SAUERKRAUT (11,90 €) — this traditionally Bavarian roasted pork knuckle comes with bread dumpling and sauerkraut. not a fan of bread dumpling, as it’s much too dense for me, but the pork had an insanely crackling skin. so crispy!
prices are verrrry decent for the portions! paulaner is a plenty here. this place is solid.

Der laden ist dunkel und klassisch im alten stil in holz eingerichtet und sehr gemütlich. Geht man durch das lokal durch, erreicht man einen überdachten innenhof, wo man recht ruhig und etwas abgeschirmt in ruhe sitzen und essen kann.
Do kimmst als saupreiss auch mal zu‘n bazis
Die bedienung lächelte zwar nicht, war aber bestimmt und sonst auch überzeugend. Ok, wenn so viel zu tun ist.
Beim essen waren meine begleitung und ich total verschiedener meinung.
Ihre vegetarischen gratinierten semmelknödel fand sie ganz furchtbar. Fade, lieblos und geschmacksneutral; sie meinte, daß es schmeckt, als würden die in fleischsauce zubereitet worden sein.
(Ich fand, sie schmeckten nach maggi oder kochwürfel und nach gemüse; insgesamt wirklich nicht doll.)
Mein leberkäs war richtig gut. Eine große portion, sogar der kartoffelsalat schmeckte.
(Ich esse sonst nie kartoffelsalat, weil man meist solch einen fertigmatsch bekommt, buah.) Der hier war frisch zubereitet und schmeckte gut. Zwei eier anstatt nur einem einzigen ei wären passender gewesen.
Über die preise kann man überhaupt nicht meckern. Eigentlich ein wunder so im zentrum der touris (die würden auch viel mehr bezahlen).
Die bedienung ist sehr aufmerksam und bemerkt sofort, wenn der gast etwas wünscht oder auch nur durch das lokal geht. Eine sache der erfahrung.
Schade. Eigentlich knapp über 4 sterne, aber bei einem solch schlechten semmelknödel dann eben nur 3 sterne.
Meiner begleitung ging es magentechnisch dann am abend gar nicht gut. Sie möchte hier auf keinen fall nocheinmal essen.

Man beachte den Ketchup auf dem ganzen. Und erst dieser nicht vorhandene Currygeschmack.
Wenigstens Currypulver? Ja, ihr fragt mit Recht. Aber nein. Curry hat diese Wurst nicht mal im Vorbeigehen gesehen.
Nun gut. Vielleicht eben typisch bayerisch. So né Bratwurst. Mit Ketchup. Ohne Curry. Mit Pommes. Muss vielleicht so.
Für mich nie wieder.

We were hungry on our first day in Berlin. We stayed near Check Point Charlie where the old Berlin Wall crossing once stood. It is a tourist area.
Great beer hall atmosphere. My potato soup was delicious and the sausages were decent. Great place to drink and bring your friends. Prost!

Tja. leider gar nicht das, was ich erwartet habe Unter Bayerisch verstehe ich selbiges auch da ist Krautsalat aus der Dose, Wurstsalat mit Bierschinken als Wursteinlage und gekauftes Brot als hausgebackenes Brot nicht drin enthalten. Bedienung unfreundlich und sehr hektisch war auf einmal weg als ich gerade bestellen wollte und kam dann erst nach 10 Minuten wieder für die Rechnung wurden wir beim ersten Mal bitten ignoriert und das alles zu dem Preis nicht gut. Bitte mehr zünftig werden und an der Freundlichkeit der Mitarbeiter arbeiten! :-(

Sehr wirklich bayrisch ist wohl nur der Name. Nun es ist halt Mitte, Busreisen, mittelmäßiges Preis-​Leistungs-​Verhältnis, Massenabfertigung. mehr ist nicht schade eigentlich, weil so was richtig urriges doch gar nicht schlecht wäre. Die atmosphäre hat auch etwas von Bahnhofshalle und echte Biegratenstimmung kommt weder an der Kronenstrasse noch im Atrium auf.

Damn good place. As with the HB in the East, can not miss the the gulaschsuppe.

You’ll love the cozy atmosphere and hearty food! If you come to Germany, you rightly expect good food and friendly service — what in Berlin is not self-​evident. In Maximilian’s there is of course primarily Bavarian food, because that is the hallmark of the restaurant. Located in the heart of the business district around the Friedrichstraße Maximilian’s is an oasis of comfort, when you make during your sightseeing tour or on your shopping day a breather. Come at lunch time and enjoy each day a different quick lunch menu at a price you are willing to pay. I also recommend the Bavarian evening, where regularly wind music is played that sounds through the Atrium.

Essen super, der Rest zwischen Bayern und Busstop. Hingehen, sehr positiv.
Eine eindeutige Meinung zu diesen Lokal habe ich nicht. Die Innenausstattung erinnert an urige bayrische Gemütlichkeit. Es gibt Plätze draussen. Einmal an der Straße und dann im Lichthof. Eine gute Idee bei schlechten Wetter. Leider wird das hier sehr laut im Hof schalt es. Sind alle Tische besetzt wird das ganze sehr unangenehm.
Beim essen gab es bisher keine Beanstandungen. Aber wie in jeden Lokal dieser Art gibt es hier gute und schlechte Tage. Die Kellner sind nicht alle gleich. Aber mal né Brotzeit bei schlechten Wetter gut, da geh ich wieder mal hin.

aber ok, so ists im Hofbräuhaus auch.
Essen klassisch bayerisch mit Fast-​Food-​Tendenz, s.o.
Qualität trotzdem nicht zu beanstanden aber reißt einen auch nicht vom Hocker.

Hier ging ich jeden Tag vorbei und einmal sind wir eingekehrt. Im Kontorhausinnenhof befindet sich der Zugang zu den Mandala Suites.
Zurück zu Maximilian‘s:
Draussen sitzt man an der Strasse, drinnen im Gastraum oder im überdachten Innenhof, der ziemlich kalt ist und überhaupt kein Flair hat.
Auf der gegenüberliegenden Seite kann man Udo Walz beim frisieren zusehen.
Wie man auf die Idee kam, hier einen bay. Biergarten zu «installieren» entzieht sich meiner Kenntnis.
Schön ist anders und gut auch. Trotzdem ist es immer voll! Ein Phänomen
