Wow, why have there been no reviews(not even in German) for this restaurant?! Also, am I allowed to call this a «hidden gem»? It is located between the U-Bahn Alt-Tempelhof station and the metro bus stop at Berlinickeplatz, at the intersection of Neue Straße and Alt-Tempelhof. I walked past by this place often and was not sure whether it was a bar/pub or an actual German restaurant. I also searched online for more info, and found really good reviews on qype, so I decide to give this place a try on a Monday evening after a long day at work! + Atmosphere: outdoor seating is kind of one of those post-work-drink-with-your-buddies kind-of-feel, which is great, except I wanted to be less embarrassed eating alone, so I went indoors instead. Inside each table is lit by candlelight once people are seated and there is also nice soothing romantic music playing in the background. I would go eat here with a boyfriend as a dinner date, but since that is not going to happen here, I just ate alone. + Staff: the bartender and the waiter were super nice! They spoke both English and German to me, and even offered an English menu to me! Woo! Also, they are very patient and helpful when it comes to questions or needing more time to order. + Beer: for«feine deutsche Küche» I thought the price was going to be a little steeper than 3 Euros. Instead the price range was between 2 and 4 Euros for beer(0,3−0,5L), pretty excellent, if you ask me!(: + Food: Of course, I was started off with the complimentary bread with some kind of sauce, I have no idea what it is but it was good. I ordered the Tafelspitz, which is five palm-sized cooked roast beef on top of root vegetables with horseradish sauce and three potatoes. The beef was excellent, especially with the creamy sauce. The vegetables were also really good, even the onions(and I do not really enjoy eating onions). The potatoes were good, but I could not finish all of them. I left them for last, and I was just too full(I was not hungry to begin with at the start). The proportion was just right, not too much and not few at all. The prices for the main dishes are also fewer than 15 Euros. All in all, this restaurant is deserving of five stars. It puts other ethnic cuisine in Berlin and German restaurants in the States(obviously) to shame, especially when comparing prices. The service was also super excellent, and I am honored to write the first Unilocal review here.(=
