Core

Ein ganz kleiner Laden, und allein durch die Lage «jenseits» der Gitschiner Straße (von der gastronomisch überversorgten Oranienseite aus gesehen) ein Geheimtipp, aber definitiv einen Besuch wert.
Der Laden ist leider winzig klein (3 Tische. 12 Personen). Aber dafür wird nicht nur sehr lecker und heiß, sondern eben auch schnell gekocht. Koreanische Klassiker (Bibimbap & Co) schmecken sehr gut und machen satt (wenn ich auch meinen Favoriten YamYam mit etwas größeren Portionen im Hinterkopf habe). Wechselndes Mittagsgericht (etwas günstiger dann), sehr freundliches kleines und authentisches Team.
Hier fühlt man sich «nachbarschaftlich gut aufgehoben», wenn auch die Nachbarschaft von der anderen Straßenseite kommen mag, denn auch wenn man’s kaum glaubt: auch das Core (übrigens: Co-​Re gesprochen) ist geraaaade noch so im letzten Zipfelchen SO36 :)

Having somewhat of a bibimbap craving, I found Core on stillinberlin and decided to give it a try. The shop is tiny and cute, like a small Asian deli/​grocery store. The menu has a variety of traditional Korean dishes, including a variety of banchan — although I was a bit alarmed of their individual prices (typically banchan is free in a Korean restaurant).
I ordered the bibimbap with beef (7 euro) and a ginger honey tea (2.50 euro). It looked promising upon arrival, but I wasn’t impressed. The beef had a slightly watered down taste, as though it wasn’t marinated enough. The other components were fine, but I didn’t feel like the red spicy sauce was spicy or flavorful enough, almost like it too had been watered down.
I’m not sure if this was a «toning down flavor for a German palette» situation, and while I finished the bowl, I wasn’t impressed with the bibimbap. The other dishes (they have daily specials) might be good. The daily special that day was as chicken and potato stew.
