This Restaurant is not a restaurant with the best atmosphere. Although the food is really authentic in my opinion and the quality is really good. We visited the Agni restaurant in Prenslauer berg and this is restaurant is when you would like to go with a group for a 3 dish dinner.

Very good northern Indian food, «not German modified» as my Indian college said, who recommended it and took us to it.
Some dishes are extremely hot, I didn’t try them. But I tried the lamp with a little bit hot. Very tasty.
They only have 12 seats inside, better make a reservation when you come with friends. but the good news is they opened a new branch in Prenzlauer Allee, which as the owner said severs the quality of food here.
Btw, the low mark reviews are very interesting. Read them! Haha!

Ohne Reservierung geht hier — gar nichts! Grade einmal 10 Personen passen sehr gequetscht in den kleinen Laden.
Das Essen ist wirklich lecker. Inwiefern es «authentisch» ist, kann ich nicht beurteilen, da ich noch nie in Indien war. Aber es schmeckt und es gibt indisches Bier!
Mich haben allerdings ein paar Punkte gestört. Zum einen die unzureichende Abluft. Durch die offene Kücher verteilt sich der Küchengeruch in dem kleinen Laden überall und meine Jacke stank noch zwei Tage später. Unser nachbestelltes Naan kam nie an, keine Ahnung warum. Die Abrechnung stimmte nicht — zu unseren Gunsten. Es fehlte ein Hauptgericht, das ca. 10 € kostete. Als wir ehrlicherweise darauf aufmerksam machten, wurde uns kaum gedankt. Und zu guter letzt ist das Ambiente einfach ungemütlich.
Fazit: nächstes Mal würde ich mein Essen bestellen und dann mitnehmen. Direkt dort würde ich nicht noch einmal essen wollen.

Der Hammer! Unfassbar gutes Essen! Winzigkleines, unscheinbares Restaurant mit Imbiss-​Charakter. Es gibt nur vier oder fünf Tische, daher unbedingt reservieren! Das Personal ist sehr herzlich. Essenstechnisch versteckt sich hinter der unscheinbaren Umgebung ein wahres Juwel. Ich glaube, ich habe noch nie vorher so lecker indisch gegessen. Ich hatte ein vegetarisches Thali mit Shahi Paneer, Paneer Makhni und Malai Kofta (man konnte unter allen vegetarischen Gerichten drei auswählen). Alle drei Varianten waren sehr raffiniert gewürzt, wodurch mir leider bei den meisten anderen Indern das Essen jetzt ziemlich geschmacklos und langweilig vorkommt. Das zum Thali gereichte Brot kam frisch aus dem Tandoori-​Ofen und der Reis war mit Mandelblättchen verfeinert. Der kleine Salat, der außerdem dabei war, war frisch und hatte ein leckeres Dressing. Und das alles für unschlagbare 13,50. Sehr schade, dass Moabit für uns ein bisschen weit weg ist. Muss man aber unbedingt mal ausprobiert haben, ganz klare Empfehlung! Wir kommen wieder :-)

Wir waren auch auf der Suche nach einem guten Inder. Was ist gut? Ich habe vor in 2017 nach Indien zu fahren und ich war mal in Little India in Singapur essen und bei einigen (meiner Meinung nach) unterdurchschnittlichen Indern.
Hier gibt es tollen Mangolassi, hausgemachte Limo. Und wirklich schmackhafte Gerichte die — so hatten wir den Eindruck — frisch gekocht waren.
Schade ist schon, dass es eher ein Take Away Laden ist, beraten wird man nicht, dass vielleicht noch Dips toll wären, es gibt auch nur 5 kleine zweier-​Tische in dem kleinen Laden. Aber mal ehrlich, so stell ich mir das in Indien vor und ich fand das Essen wirklich toll. Das eine der Hühnchenspies auf Kartoffeln in der Gusspfanne unglaublich gut gewürzt (EUR 6,50 gezahlt und in ner chicen Bude hätte das locker das doppelte gekostet), das Curry mit Frischkäse und Gemüse eher zurückhaltend gewürzt.
Ich kanns nur empfehlen!

The BEST north indian food you can get in Berlin.
Better to call a bit early and order the food, as they prepare most of the kebabs from scratch so it takes about 40 minutes to an hour.
FANTASTIC kebabs. The best. None of the «lets pour curry sauce on chicken and call it tandoori chicken» shit that you usually see in other places. We have always done takeaway and went to friends home and ate the food. Every dish is flavourful, with the right amount of spices and hotness (for Indians) but non-​Indians also enjoyed it. I love the reshami kebabs.
Will go again, and have recommended the place to my Indian friends.

Das Agni ist ein sehr kleiner Laden, hier gibt es ca. 5 Tische die maximal 10 Leute beherbergen können.
Im Gegensatz zu den meisten «Indern» findet man hier wirklich gute, authentische Küche zu einem fairen Preis. Sowohl die Mittagsgerichte für 5 – 6 EUR als auch die a la carte Gerichte sind einwandfrei und frisch zubereitet.
Bitte vorher die Öffnungszeiten auf der Homepage beachten, sonst steht man vor verschlossener Tür. Der Chef kocht hier noch persönlich, daher ist die Küche nicht 20 h geöffnet.
Insgesamt ist das Essen eine klare Empfehlung, einen Punkt Abzug gibt es für den zu kleinen Raum und das fehlende Ambiente.

Sehr sehr kleines Restaurant (besser reservieren) mit sehr leckerem Essen. Ich hatte das vegetarische Thali, bei dem man sich selbst drei verschiedene Currys aussuchen kann. Dazu gab es dann Reis, Naan und einen kleinen Salat mit leckerem Dressing.

Great food, big selection of starters, especially different kind of breads, great price for drinks, rocking mango lasi and chai. Staff is friendly and speaks english. Location is not ideal and place is small, so I would recommand reservation. Service could be lil bit faster when it comes to order alcoholic drinks, but no big deal. I like the place!

Das Agni ist ein Ort der Extreme: Extrem kleiner Raum, extrem günstige Preise, extrem ungemütliche Einrichtung, extrem gutes Essen.
Was das Platzangebot und die Einrichtung betrifft, so müsste ich hierfür den «Gandenstern» vergeben — selbst für einen Imbiss! Da aber für mich hier die Qualität sowie die Frische der Speisen im Vordergrund stehen, vergebe ich sehr gute vier Sterne!
Selbst gibt sich der Laden den Untertitel «authentische indische Küche» — zwei indische Freunde von mir konnten dies durchaus bestätigen.
Eine Empfehlung ist der Mittagstisch: Gerade im Sommer, wenn man auf der Bank vor dem Laden sitzen kann, ist das Angebot in Sachen Preis/​Leistung und zeitliche Zubereitung der Top-​Tipp in Ecke!
Fazit: Wer ein gutes Hauptgericht auf die schnelle sucht, der ist hier goldrichtig! Für Gemütlichkeit — gar einen romantischen Abend — ist es komplett ungeeignet.

Das Essen ist gut, könnte aber aromatischer sein. Es kam auch ganz schön schnell auf den Tisch (wir waren abends da), vielleicht ist es auch einfach den ganzen Tag schon am köcheln. Aus Indien kenn ichs aromatischer.
Das Personal ist ganz schön verpeilt, mal hier mal da was vergessen.
Das Ambiente hat etwas von günstigem Imbiss, aber das macht das ganze auch spannend, so als habe man soeben ein Moabiter Kleinod entdeckt.

I had been to their restaurant multiple times with my german friends and recommended many to their restaurant
But I was totally surprised with their behaviour when I went with my wife. They treat as if they are doing some kind of favour to us. When I was with my german friends their behaviour was different.
I wish there was negative rating as well

Heute bin ich zum ersten Mal in den Genuss des indischen Essens von AGNI gekommen. Da der Laden recht klein und unansehnlich von innen ist, empfiehlt es sich das Essen mitzunehmen.
Wir hatten Chicken Kurma, Butter Chicken und noch ein Mittagsgericht mit Hühnchen. Alle 3 waren fantastisch. Dazu gab es Brot mit dreierlei Saußen und zum Mittagsgericht sogar noch einen kleinen Salat dazu.
Ich habe bereits viele indische Restaurants ausprobiert, aber das ist bisher mein Favorit. Das Essen war sehr schmackhaft (allerdings auch alles schärfer als gewohnt).
Hingehen, bestellen, genießen. Yummy!

This small family run place is my all time favorite in Berlin. I love the yummi naans and dals especially. Almost everything i had here was delicious. It is just too small for big groups and therefore you need to leave immediately after you finish your food to open up space for new comers.

Ich hole mir dort Essen seit ca. 1 Jahr.
Anfänglich steckte ich die Unfreundlichkeit der Besitzer noch weg und nahm es mit Gelassenheit. Aber es ist wirklich egal, ob es stressig in der kleinen, offenen Küche zugeht oder nicht, die Betreiber sind tojour am muffeln, es kommt oft nicht einmal ein lapidares Hallo, kein Lächeln, kein nichts. So wenig Service mag man sich an dieser Ecke der Stadt noch leisten können, Moabit ist ja hart im Nehmen; antun möchte ich es mir allerdings nicht mehr. Dann fahre ich lieber etwas weiter zum Konkurrenzinder und behalte meine gute Laune.

Best Indian food in Berlin, without doubt. There’s no pretentions here, just great, authentic food. The interior really doesn’t convey how good the food is, with just a few simple tables in a room barely bigger then the kitchen. The food however is better than all of the tourist-​aimed blandness found almost everywhere in this city. Huge range of dishes using great ingredients and authentic spices, at a great price. As an Englishman living in Berlin it’s a lifesave to have found such good Indian food here.

Meine Favoriten… alles mit kasara-​soße …Tandori chicken… murgh Madras… und die kokos linsen suppe… frisches butternaan ist auch immer gelungen!!!

Ich war seit einem Jahr mal
wieder im Agni und kann die guten Bewertungen leider überhaupt nicht (mehr) nachvollziehen. Entweder hat der Koch
gewechselt oder er hatte heute einen
extrem schlechten Tag. Während ich beim letzten Mal nach dem Essen fast
noch angerufen hätte, weil’s so gut war, dachte ich diesmal nur Wie jetzt?
Chicken Tikka mit Kohlschnipseln und Sprossen? Und ist das Fleisch jetzt nur gut gewürzt oder einfach ins Salz gefallen? Als
zweites Gericht hatte ich das
Mattar Paneer. Das schmeckte seltsam süß so wie Ketchup? Ich habe
lange Jahre in England gelebt und kann definitiv sagen so wie dort schmeckte keines
der beiden Gerichte. Die Suche
nach einem guten Inder geht leider weiter

is it the best indian food in berlin? I can’t say for sure but it is certainly the best that I’ve had so far (although that is not really hard). The tandoori grilled stuff is very good indeed. Id id think that the quality of the chicken could be a little better. also don’t go here for the ambience, it’s only a step above a hole-​in-​the-​wall. but the owners and the service was very decent and it is very authentic (so says my pakistani girlfriend). anyway, I recommend it. it’s not mindblowing but it is certainly head and shoulders above the standard indian fare in berlin.

Seit Ewigkeiten wohne ich nebenan und wollte immer mal hin, jetzt hab ich es kürzlich endlich geschafft.
Drinnen ganz klein und eher gequetscht, man kann auch draußen (mit wenig Platz und ziemlich auf dem Bürgersteig) sitzen, warum nicht. Die Karte ist vielfältig, wir entscheiden uns jeweils für ein vegetarisches Gericht zum Warmwerden. Die Bedienung ist freundlich, das Essen kommt schnell und ist lecker. Mein indiengereister Begleiter bestätigte mir die Authentizität der Auswahl und des Geschmacks. Drinnen sitzt die Familie und isst auch.
Grundsätzlich alles gut, aber ein Stern Abzug, weil die Art der Lokalität günstigere Preise suggeriert als es tatsächlich war, zumindest abends. Zum Mittagstisch für um die 5 Euro komme ich gerne wieder.

Really by accident, my boyfriend and me passed by this place while almost starving. They are not very obvious, located on a large street. The concept is easy: You can order a variety of flavours (e.g. Korma, Tikka, etc.) either as a vegetarian meal or with meat (there is choice too). Then you have to decide if you want the basic (just meat /​veg with sauce), the basic with rice or also add naan bread. The prices vary accordingly.
The quality is really good and all was prepared fresh for us. The meat was extraordinarily good and the taste great. There are 10 – 12 spaces to sit inside and about 6 – 8 outside. You pick your own drinks from the fridge — if you like a glass with it, add € 0.50 to your bill.
Prices go from € 5 to € 10 for a dish and drinks start from € 1.50 for a 0.5 l bottle of coke. Overall, a great places to eat Indian in Berlin. I often find Indian restaurants overpriced and not necessarily good. Here is a place to go with friends, after work or for a take-​away.

Ich habe diesen wunderbaren indischen Imbiss auch erst kürzlich entdeckt obwohl ich seit fast 3 Jahren in der Umgebung wohne. Dafür war ich nun in kurzer Zeit auch schon häufiger zu Gast.
Mittlerweile habe ich schon Gerichte aus dem Tandoor als auch die Currys getestet. Besonders die Gerichte mit Hühnchen haben es mir angetan. So leckeres und zartes Fleisch bekommt man für den Preis sehr selten.
Die Einrichtung ist eher zweckmäßig und Platz gibt es auch nicht im Übermaß. Aber gerade darin liegt auch ein gewisser Charme. Auf jeden Fall eine der Top-​Adressen in Moabit.

Arguably the best Indian food in town! Original Tandoor oven, all dishes (including Masala tea) freshly prepared. Tandoori Naan/​Roti, Stuffed Parathas are an absolute hit among the bread varieties. All mostly prepared by the owner himself (except when he’s away on vacation, in which case a suitable replacement exists). Very reasonable prices.
Lunch offers are VERY diverse — a dish is repeated every 4 – 6 weeks or so!
Highly customer-​friendly and will make the special dish for you, if you know what you want. Or will help you to find out what you should want :-).
Has small seating capacity (about 10 – 12 only, so make sure you call in advance and check availability, or reserve. Many customers use the takeaway service anyways.

Agni ist eins der geheimen Ecken von Berlin, wo man köstlich und preiswert essen kann. Eine absolut authentische Küche eines bestimmten Teils von Indien. Genieße die Atmosphäre jedes Mal auf Neue. Als Gast hat man das Gefühl mitten in einer Wohnung bei einer indischen Familien zu sein, wo man bekocht wird. Das Essen wird frisch zubereitet und heiss (und zischend) serviert. Ein Traum!
Komme immer wieder gerne und empfehle es jedem!

This was the last chance saloon for Indian food for us in Berlin after so many bad/​inauthentic ones, and despite our excitement from some Indian people on qype here and the fact they have an actual Tandoor oven (rare in Berlin), it just wasn’t good enough.
The starters and poppadoms were pretty good to be fair (Samosa and some kind of veggie Pakora) and the menu looked like it was pretty authentic but we both had barbequed marinated meat (chicken tikka) in different sauces for the mains but the chicken was either totally undercooked or it was done in the same way as many indian restaurants in berlin seem cook their chicken. boiled or microwaved and then cooked over a flame, or in this case an actual Tandoor to finish. You should not be able to go wrong by just bbq’ing them in the tandoor along with the Naan bread but somehow they messed it up and made it a squish-​fest.
I’m hoping we don’t have food poisoning as I write this but that chicken was odd or a bit raw. My sauce was actually quite pleasant but my wife’s was not far off the usual German Indian fare.
Honestly, you’d make a fortune if you could buy a real Tandoor, an imbiss sized place and stick it in Kreuzberg with a good UK Indian chef.
That’s it for trying Indian places in Germany. They basically don’t work.
p. s. it was a bit strange when i went to the toilet afterwards and the chef wouldn’t let me wash my hands because he was washing his feet in the sink. what???

Agni is another authentic Indian restaurant, which matches the expectations of expatriate Indians. Their speciality being the North Indian delicacies. The paratas are as good as we get in India, if not better. The kebabs are immacculate, and thandoor dishes worth the price. But the space constraints is a problem if you go in with a large group. On special Indian festivals the chef tends to have separate menu, in which exotic foods are made available. Last newyear’s eve, we were fortunate enough to be there enjoying bhalle pappadi, malai chicken etc. 5 stars all the way.

So gut wie hier habe ich noch nirgends Indisch gegessen. Authentische Indische Küche. Man sollte allerdings etwas Wartezeit mitbringen. Manchmal ist in diesem sehr kleinem Restaurant viel los, so dass es dann ein wenig dauert bis das Essen fertig ist.
Es wird immer frisch zubereitet. Ich gehe hier immer wieder sehr gerne hin, auch weil die Betreiber sehr nette Menschen sind.

Hier bei der Durchfahrt einfach aus dem Bauchgefühl heraus;-) mal gehalten und probiert. Extrem unspektakuläre Einrichtung, Platz für gefühlte 8 Personen. Aber freundliche Blicke aus der Küche, die praktisch eins ist mit dem Speiseraum. Ein wunderbar aromatisch, würziger Duft begrüßt, und man weiss eigentlich sofort das es hier um Quailität geht.
Köstliche indische Küche, der beste Yogitee, leckere Desserts. Alles kommt bescheiden und ehrlich daher. Man hat das gefühl das man für sein Geld überdurschnittlich gut isst.
Was will man mehr.
