Sefa Hamami was my first Turkish bath experience and I really enjoyed it. A Turkish friend took me to Sefa while I was on vacation. My friend told me that this place was very traditional. I was happy to go to a hamam that the locals use instead of the overpriced hamams in the touristy areas. Sefa Hamami was clean and the people were friendly and welcoming. There were only women, no men. The main bath area had a large marble pedestal in the center where there is space for four people to be washed and massaged. The room is beautifully tiled including the domed vaulted ceiling. We were scrubbed and washed by the lady attendants but we washed our own hair. If you get too hot, you can always step out into the foyer to cool down and they sell a variety of beverages. To top it off, I found the price to be very reasonable for my Turkish version of a «girls day at the spa.» If I visit Istanbul again and find myself in Kadikoy, I will be happy to visit Sefa Hamami again!
