Kadırga Hamamı

Legit place. The map directions are a little off, it’s on the north side of the street just south of where the map points. The address inscribed is correct, but it’s the parallel street south of the one shown.

We’ve been there twice in a row.
The ladies are very nice.
If you expect a super duper fancy place you are wrong.
This is a real hamami!
And if you are really interested in this experience, I would absolutely recommend this place.

This place is the real deal! I can’t believe how empty it was!
This place is such an authentic experience.
How it goes down:
a) Get undressed in your room and get into a town that they give you (this cloth thing).
b) Sauna for 15 minutes
c) Then this guy takes you to a room full of stalls where you sit down and get rinsed with warm water.
d) He scrubs you clean by taking a scrubbing cloth and exfoliates most of your body. He doesn’t touch your junk, don’t sweat it.
e) Then rinsed.
f) Then lathered up soap on my head and washed my hair /​head with soap.
e) Then rinsed.
g) Then brought me to marble bench where he massaged /​washed my body with soap. From toes to chest (head was before in the stall).
All was great, and its such a special place… takes you back hundreds of years. The place has been around since 1505, but was rebuilt in 1734. I have no idea why anyone goes anywhere but here.
Zero tourists… but they didn’t mind us Americans come through. Customary to tip between 5 – 10 lira.
