CLOSED! Looked forward to trying manti, but it closed down long ago. Nothing else to report.

Found this place on Unilocal. Was kind of a pain to find but ended up being worth it. Downstairs you can watch some women prepare Gözleme, which is a nice touch to the restaurant. We ordered some kofte and turkish ravioloi. Wasn’t crazy about my ravioli but wife’s kofte was pretty good. Service was extremely nice and quick. Would recommend.

The only place my friends I and could find that would serve us vegetarian manti. The manti was absolutely divine, perfectly fluffy and the yogurt was delicious. They also serve delicious Turkish pancakes here, my favorite was the spinach/cheese.

Hala on Istiklal Caddesi serves authentic Turkish food. Downstairs you can watch some women prepare Gözleme, which is a nice touch to the restaurant. Generally this is something you only come across either in very touristic restaurants or in places far off the shot — neither of which is the case for Hala. The large menu even offers some dishes for vegetarians(which are usually not so easy to find in Turkish Cuisine) and the prices are REALLY okay, to say the least! Since it’s located right on Istiklal Caddesi it can get quite crowded in here, so if you are looking for something a little calmer you should go to the Hala at Katip Mustafa Çelebi Mah., which is in a(quieter) side street of Istiklal Caddesi. I’d even say the atmosphere there is a hint more authentic.
