Senior Design

Ignore the stars above as this is really just a review/​notice to say that the café is, alas, no more. I went by the other week and saw that the space had been converted into some sort of Senior Design ‘outlet’ store open by appointment only.
Jan. 2014: Okay, wait, S.D. is now an outlet/​café as the newest sign would indicate? *confused face*

Nice concept to mix age groups !!!
The concept is based that senior people helps young people with old fashion tradition stuff such as: cooking, gardening, knitting, etc. And all in a cool way. They have a store also at Josefstrasse where you can buy stuff to make /​do homemade stuff, and they provide workshops.
Based on this concept they opened a bar on Josefstrasse. In the bar you will have young and senior people serving you. All the stuff you can order are homemade dishes on a grandma style.
The desserts are really good and fresh. The service is very funny. Last time we had an old woman who reallyw as funny and liked to chat. We really enjoyed it. You really have to try the chocolate pie (a calorie bomb, but ssoooooo gut).
You can sit outside (approx. 15 people I would say).
It is not the cheapest place in the area and it has a bit of a hipster touch.

Tip: Opening hours are really limited. It closes very early.

Seating for 30 its best to make reservations as Josephstrasse is the new hot spot in Zurich. The menu is brief, but everything is really well prepared. Especially a tasty bread with nuts and fruit. We enjoyed it so much we ordered an entire loaf to take home. Great for brunch.

Fabulous cakes, good coffee, excellent brunches and all provided by charming grandmothers.

Mittags mal wieder wie bei Omi essen! Ein Traum! Super gemütlich, richtig was fürs Auge und lecker zugleich. Die Preise sind dafür ok. Geht sicher günstiger wo anders übern Mittag, aber sicher nicht mit so viel Charme.

Frühstücken oder neudeutsch brunchen in der erst seit kurzem eröffneten Senior Design Factory ist wirklich sehr gemütlich. Der Service ist sehr aufmerksam und das Angebot ist köstlich. Über Mittag oder Abends war ich noch nie da, aber auch das Mittags– und Abend-​Angebot soll sich authentisch und wie bei Grossmutter am kuscheligen Kachelofen anfühlen. ] bringt alte und junge Menschen als gleichwertige Partner zusammen und fördert durch gemeinsame kreative Projekte aktiv den Austausch unter den Generationen. Im Shop an der Josefstrasse 48 gibt es unvergleichliche Produkte zu kaufen und hier im Restaurant & Café darf man geniesen. Das die Senior Design Factory-​Idee funktioniert, ist auf den ersten Blick ersichtlich. Ein weiteres schönes Plätzchen in Zürich wo man sich einfach wohlfühlt. Eigentlich wünsch ich mir, dass das noch einige Zeit ein Geheimtipp bleibt. Unbedingt reservieren, es hat nicht besonders viele Plätze.
