Sam’s Pizzaland

Das Sam’s ist jetzt nicht so das Lokal, wo man auf ein Date hingehen würde (ausser man hat wirklich nicht viel Stil), eher zum Mittagessen wenn die Firma keine Kantine hat, oder auf ein schnelles Essen bevor man ins Kongresshaus geht (wohl eher nicht vor der Tonhalle).
Die Auswahl ist ziemlich umwerfend, etwa 30 Pizzen, jede in 3 Grössen und mit 3 verschiedenen Teigen (American, Italian, Cheese Rim). Dazu Pasta und diverse andere Sachen.
Die Pizza war ordentlich, recht schwer (OK, ich habe die Cheese Rim genommen), der Hauswein dazu ziemlich lecker.
Highlight ist der Service: routiniert, sehr freundlich und haben bei einem Fehler sehr nett reagiert, sich mehrmals entschuldigt und etwas offeriert. Wirklich tipptopp, da kann man gar nicht böse sein wenn mal etwas passiert.

Obwohl es Sam’s schon lange und etliche gibt, war ich noch nie dort. Heute also zum ersten mal für einen Lunch. Das Angebot ist reichlich und neben vielen Pizzas die amerikanisch und nicht Italienisch sind, bekommt man auch Salate sowie Burgers.
Der Teller war prall gefüllt und das Essen war lecker, jedoch lauwarm bis kalt und ganz schlimm war die Bedienung! Fragte die uns ernsthaft ob wir an der Fasnacht (Karneval) waren ich sagte ihr auch sogleich, dass sie ziemlich frech sei. Mit Trinkgeld durfte sie dann auch nicht rechnen. Ja ja, Anstand und Stil haben heute leider nur noch wenige. In einem Lokal jedoch lege ich noch größeren Wert drauf als privat, da ich schließlich für eine Dienstleistung bezahle.
Ansonsten gefiel es mir was das Ambiente und die Größe des Lokal betrifft.
Jedoch gibt es nur zwei Sterne wegen der frechen Bedienung und des kalten Burgers.

Ich war schon oft hier, da es sich in der Nähe von meinem Arbeitsplatz befindet.
Man bekommt hier Pizza, Pasta aber auch Salat.
Ich nehme meistens Pizza Hawaii mit Cheese-​Rand, diese schmeckt mir ganz gut. Klar es kann natürlich nicht mit den tollen Pizzerias mithalten aber für zwischendurch ganz gut. Das letze Mal als ich da war habe ich mich an die Spaghetti Frutti di Mare gewagt, ich war etwas entäuscht, den es handelt sich um eine Fertigmischung, so hats dann auch geschmeckt.

Four women-​3 Swiss, 1 Ami– went to Sam’s for din-​din and a chin-​wag and left pretty satisfied. My posse seemed to like their meals very much. One had a plate of pasta swimming in cream sauce, one ate what appeared to be Italian-​style pizza and the other ate a sort of deep-​dish pizza. I wasn’t keen on having pizza, and with a ‘San Francisco’ pizza topped with a bunch of silly shit like pineapple and chicken, I’m not sure I’ll ever be keen on a Sam’s ‘American’ pizza. I ordered the burger. I mostly liked my meal. The slaw was super mayonaise-​y, but a few twists of the pepper mill over it made it better. The fries were all right, but I’m no connoisseur, so as long as they’re not cold and soggy, I’ll live. There was some kooky-​hot dipping sauce that looked like 1000 Island dressing in a ramekin near the fries, so I guess it was for the fries? I ate a bit of it, but it wasn’t earthshakingly good. I think the burger was probably meant to be eaten with a knife and fork, but I couldn’t bring myself to do it, and took bites out of the darn thing until the bun fell apart three bites later. The bun was a bit dry anyway, so I didn’t much care. Actually, it was a good thing that the whole kitten-​caboodle took a tumble because then I could actually see that the burger was a solid brown patty and of little renown. (I hadn’t been asked at what ‘temp’ I wanted the burger to be cooked, so I was interested to see what they would bring unprovoked.) Topped with slivers of red onion, hunks of iceberg, funky slabs of tomato, and some sort of reddish, not-​really-​tasting-​like-​ketchup-​sauce, the burger was almost passable… almost. When I think about it, the patty reminded me of the school lunch burgers we ate in elementary school: brown, dry, and not very flavorful.
The server was friendly, efficient and professional. A few of us were a bit picky with our ordering (extra sauce on the side, no tomatoes, extra cheese, etc.) and she was absolutely agreeable during the whole process. Also, she checked on us repeatedly throughout our two-​hour stay. She didn’t hover, she just came around now and again, as appropriate. Score.

An der Dreikönigsstrasse befindet sich relativ zentral das Sam’s Restaurant. Das Sam’s gehört wie das HAN, Nelson und Lady Hamilton’s zur «its1world» Gruppe.
Gleich beim Eingang erblickt man schon das frischen Salatbuffet. Hat man ein Plätzchen gefunden, gibt’s neben den bekannten Pizzas nach Amerikanischer Art auch jede Menge andere Gerichte. Ich hatte, bis jetzt immer nur Pizza. Man kann zwischen drei Grössen und drei Teigarten wählen und den Belag natürlich.
Das Preis-​Leistung ist mittel. Das Personal ist freundlich, relativ kurze Wartezeiten. Am Mittag kann’s ziemlich voll werden.
