they have once in a year the day of open door. This event is in 2016, saturday, 12^th March, 10.a.m. till 6.p.m. The Kunsthaus Zurich the have different exhibitions during one year. Next one starts at 26^th february 2016 till 8^th of May 2016 with Pipilotti Rist, a swiss video artist and she also performs with the music group Les Raines Prochaines. She gets a lot of different prices and the name of the docu of her: 2009 The Colour of Your Socks — A Year with Pipilotti Rist. Take your change and check out this beautiful place in the middle of the city. It is also one of the popular hot spots for tourists or locals and there is also a Kunsthaus Bar outside of Kunsthaus and you can take the tram no 3 from Zurich mainstation to visit this place. There is also outside Kunsthaus a installation of Jean Tinguely, a swiss painter which is famous for his mechanical objects and skulptures.

I have been to over 150 museums around the world.
This is definitely one of the very best «small» museums. Not tiny like Kettles Yard in Cambridge, but not «big» like the MMA or Louvre.
I easily spent 5 hours here enjoying the wide range of paintings and sculpture they have.
Highlights: a perfect room of Impressionists against a light green wall.
The selection of Swiss art-​I liked this as it is hard to see in the USA.
And of course the Giacometti rooms, which are superb.
The building has been built over many decades, so it is a mélange of styles! The Modern wing is «very 1970s», almost kitsch. This wing contained a «current» (permanent?) exhibition of modern art which was indeed shockingly pornographic (as noted by another reviewer) and pretty awful… the signs for just how unsuitable for minors were rather small-​I missed them the first time.

Very impressive exhibition about Alberto Giacometti. Best part of the museum. Other pieces of art with the older painters are interesting. The selection of modern art lacks art. The selected pieces are not interesting and are sad. Most offensive is a new private exhibition about sensuality, which shows mostly extremely pornographic photos, very inappropriate and has nothing to do with art, more with inappropriate lust. Beware and do not come with your children. Extremely inappropriate!

Well organized collection of work including paintings by Monet, Van Gogh, Munch and Chagall and modern art by Liechtenstein, Warhol and others. Museum admittance includes a complementary audio guide, which is recommended. Can be viewed in 2 hours, which is the perfect length and size for my tastes. 5CHF discount with the Zurich Card making it 10CHF instead of 15CHF.

Das Kunsthaus gehört für mich zu Zürich wie der Hauptbahnhof. Seit frühester Kindheit, damals meist ein müssen, ging ich da ein und aus. Es gab keine Ausstellung die ich nicht zu sehen bekam, denn am Wochenende hieß es meistens; Kira komm wir gehen ins Kunsthaus. Meinem Vater lag immer viel daran seinen Kinder Kultur und Kunst näher zu bringen, aufgewachsen in dieser Gegend lag es immer sehr nahe, dass wir unsere Zeit dort verbrachten.
Mittlerweile hat sich viel verändert und das Kunsthaus wurde umgebaut, ein Erweiterungsbau steht bevor und auch ich bin groß geworden :-)) So dass ich nun selbst entscheide ob ich eine Ausstellung anschaue oder nicht.
Jedoch kann ich es wirklich nur empfehlen, da es immer wieder spannende Ausstellungen gibt und nach der Besichtigung wartet das Hauseigene Café, wo man sich angeregt über das soeben gesehen unterhalten und entspannen kann.
Heute gibt es auch einen kleinen Laden, den gab es damals nicht, wo man sich mit viel Kunst eindecken kann. Für mich hat dies eher einen Touch von Souvenirladen aber das ist ok, man muss ja nichts kaufen ;-)
Wenn Du dich also im alten Stadtteil von Zürich aufhältst, dann geh beim Kunsthaus vorbei, nur schön das Gebäude ist eine Besichtigung wert wie auch die Umgebung.

The Kuntshaus has brililant art. There’s Mvnch, Kandinsky, Matisse, Picasso, and contemporary artists, Robert Frank, Richard Serra, John Baldessari, Bruce Nauman, Bill Viola– all worth seeing. The building is great and it’s a museum you can explore in an afternoon unlike some of the behemoths of Europe that require more of a two-​day stay. Also, the coffee’s superb.

One of Zurich’s most prestigious spots, the Kunsthaus should be something you at least give a shot if you’re remotely interested in art. Despite the fact that you’ll have to shell out some bucks for the admittance, you can easily spend a rainy afternoon here wandering through the permanent collection or the various changing exhibits.
If you’re local and interested in visiting more than once, consider buying a membership. They run around 100 bucks a year, but you get more or less frequent invites to events and information regarding upcoming exhibits. I bought one a couple of years ago and have been extending it ever since.

Perfect rainy day entertainment. Pretty impressive modern art collection! Also a fair amount of medieval pieces as well.
One thing that was strange to me (maybe a cultural thing), was that you couldn’t take a bag/​purse into the museum. Minor deprecation anxiety from your things ;)

An incredible museum, especially if you like medeval art. I could have spent a lot of time in this museum, as there are rooms upon rooms within. Not too far from the downtown area and the train station.
In this museum you will see Van Gogh, Rembrandt, and Picasso. All are worthwhile.

World-​class museum for a world-​class city!
Odd old/​new architecture from the outside but who cares — you are going there for the art inside.
This is a «must visit» museum in Zurich, with stunning permanent collection and always an interesting and enjoyable special exhibit.
Spend some time with Vincent or some of your other friends…

Die letzten Jahre haben mich immer Sonderausstellungen ins Kunsthaus gebracht. Bis ich vor kurzem mit einer Freundin wieder einmal in der Sammlung war. Und die ist wirklich sehenswert! Mich hat’s echt fast umgehauen! Es hat vielleicht nur zwei oder drei Bilder von den «grossen» Namen, aber sie sind alle vertreten. Van Gogh’s Wiesendlandschaft und Selbstbild sind ebenso berührend wie der Sonnenuntergang beim Houses of Parlaments von Monet. Apropos Monet, zwei seiner Seerosen-​Riesen haben einen eigenen Raum. Da sassen wir — fast eine Stunde. Und haben aufgetankt. Zu meinen Lieblingen gehören ausserdem Bonnard, Chagall, Delauney, Matisse, Rothko…
Und dazwischen einen Capuccino und ein Gipfeli zur Stärkung… Das Kunshaus Café ist nämlich auch ganz nett. Und auch ohne Eintritt zu besuchen. Idealer Platz, um an einem Samstagmorgen Zeitung zu lesen…

I dig weird. And art is no exception. I’d pick Warhol and friends peeing on a canvas (see museum in Pittsburgh) any day to a dark Rembrandt portrait. To your question: «you call that art?» My answer: he thought of it first.
For 22 francs (22.50USD) you can get a taste of both Swiss and international modern artists ranging from Canadian photographer Jeff Wall to the work of Joan Miro, Picasso and Lichtenstein. I was especially excited to see the original «Composition of Red, Blue Yellow» by Piet Mondrian. There were a few «racier» pieces like a sexually posed skeleton, but I would have to say Chicago’s Modern Art Museum gives it a run for its money with their pushing-​the-​envelope collection.
I appreciated that the educational headsets were offered complimentary. Overall, I could have spent many more hours here but I find it sad when the price of entering a museum is so high that it becomes exclusively an upper class activity.

Ich muss im Vorfeld sagen, dass ich kein großer Kunstkenner bin. Ich weiß aber, was mir gefällt und was nicht.
Die Ausstellung Hund Katze Maus war sehr einfallsreich und schön. Die Beuysausstellung stelle mich vor die Frage, ist das hier Kunst oder was.
Auch einige andere Werke erweckten meinen Zweifel. Aber vielleicht verstehe ich nichts von Kunst ;-).
Ich mag Dali und Dürte, aber Beuys, nein danke. Trotzdem hat man ihm viel Platz eingeräumt. Wer’s mag.
Das KHZ bietet für alle Geschmäcker etwas. Das fiinde ich gut.

A great art museum in the heart of Zurich. I enjoyed its noteworthy collection of old, modern and contemporary masters, set in a building with an interesting combination of old and new architecture. It’s not so huge and overwhelming that you get exhausted, but there’s still much here to explore and I had a great few hours of just wandering around. I enjoyed browsing through their gift shop also, and picked out some stuff for friends back at home.
They also have a great museum café, where I had an excellent salad. It was the mixed green salad with bacon, croutons and omelette bits in a creamy mayo-​like dressing, delicious! They have it in a small and large size, and I felt the small was the perfect lunch size if you’re not totally starving. On a sunny day the patio of this café is where to be, especially if you can score a seat on the long red upholstered outdoor couch. I started out with drinks there and ended up staying for lunch and I’m so glad I did!

Das Kunsthaus kennen wir alle. Was ich aber noch gar nie richtig wahrgenommen habe, ist der Kunsthausshop. Dorthin kommt man auch ohne Eintritt.
Verschiedene Bücher im Bereich Fotografie, Malerei und anderer Kunst werden verkauft, sowie die Kataloge und Plakate zu laufenden Ausstellungen. Doch nicht nur das, auch DVDs und CDs rund um den Kunstbereich sind erhältlich. Dann gibt es natürlich noch die Reproduktionen von einigen bekannten Gemälden. Was mir aber gut gefallen hat, sind all die kleinen Accessoires die man kaufen kann und die sich ideal als Geschenke eignen. Es gibt grössere Produkte wie Taschen, Uhren und Foulards. Aber auch kleine Dinge wie Magnete, Spiele und tolle Postkarten.
Als ich das Sortiment durchstöberte, kamen mir ganz viele Leute in den Sinn, die ich beschenken wollte.

Im Kunsthaus Zürich (zu erreichen mit der Straßenbahnlinie 3, drei Stationen vom Hauptbahnhof) gibt es regelmäßig interessante Sonderausstellungen zu besichtigen. Ich habe mir im Januar die Ausstellung: «Picasso — die erste Ausstellung von 1932» angesehen. Karten sind problemlos ohne Aufschlag im Internet zu kaufen und als online-​Ticket auszudrucken, aber auch vor Ort ohne lange Schlangen an der Museumskasse zu erwerben. Im Keller des Museums stehen zahlreiche kostenkose Gadrobenschränke (2 CHF Pfand) zur Verfügung. Einen Audio-​Guide gibt es kostenlos zu leihen. Die Ausstellung ist übersichtlich aufgebaut. Es gibt zahlreiche Informationen zu den gezeigten Werken. Diese Ausstellung war hervorragend bin kein Insider generell nicht von Kunst daher auch selten im Kunsthaus, aber mal vorbei schauen wenn gerade nichts besseres läuft…lohnt sich auch für outsider…;)

Das Kunsthaus ist super. Ich mag es, immer mal wieder die Sammlung mit den ganz alten, berühmten Gemälden zu besuchen. Meine Kunststudentinfreundin nimmt mich jeweils mit und macht für mich Privatführung, weil ich komm selbst überhaupt nicht draus, aber ihr höre ich sehr gerne zu, weil sie zu jedem Bild schöné Geschichten dazu zu erzählen weiss.
Am Wochenende oder wenn es regnet gehen alle Leute hin, die es mögen, sich vor den Bildern herumzuschubsen, gelangweilte Schülerrudel zur Seite zu schieben und sich beleidigt bei der Direktion beschweren gehen wollen, weil sie die Aufsicht gebeten hat, ihrem quietschend und hysterisch zappelnden Kind den tropfenden Schoppen nicht vor einem der teuersten Werke der Ausstellung zu geben.
Ein gutes Programm am Wochenende oder wenn es regnet.

Im Kunsthaus Zürich bin ich seit Kunstgewerbeschule_​Zeiten heimisch. Alberto Giacometti, Johann Heinrich Füssli oder Ferdinand Hodler waren wöchentliche Pflicht. Von Pipilotti Rist, Peter Fischli und David Weiss hat man damals noch nichts gehört. Immer noch besuche ich regelmässig das Kunsthaus und mache wie zu Schulzeiten einen Halt in der Caféteria oder im Miro-​Garten.
Die Munch-​Sammlung, Bilder von Picasso, Kokoschka, Beckmann, Corinth, Monet und Chagall, Rothko, Merz, Twombly, Beuys, Bacon und Baselitz üben unvermindert Faszination aus. Zurzeit werden in einer retrospektiven Werkschau 30 grossformatige Gemälde und Holzschnitte von Franz Gertsch gezeigt. Sein nun vollendete «Vier Jahreszeiten-​Zyklus» ist wahrhaftig ein Meisterwerk.
Ein Schlüsselmoment im Kunsthaus war aber vor vielen Jahren die Vorführung des Filmes «Antonio das mortes» von Glauber Rocha. Das «cinema novo”-Meisterwerk — gewalttätig und schön wie das Sertão, der Nordosten Brasiliens — zählt immer noch zu meinen Filmfavoriten.

Das Kunsthaus Zürich ist ohne jeglichen Zweifel eines der bedeutendsten Kunstmuseen in der Schweiz.
Es liegt in der nähe des Schauspielhauses Pfauen am Heimplatz.
Die bedeutende Sammlung reicht bis ins 15 Jahrhundert.
Das Kunsthaus würde ich am ehesten unter der Woche besuchen, da sonst fast in diesen riesigen Säälen Platzangst aufkommen kann.
Auch sollte man/​frau es eher vermeiden in den letzten Ausstellungstagen hier einen Besuch abstatten zu wollen.
Es wird noch enger…

Wer traut sich schon wirklich zu sagen, dass er nicht sehr gerne ins Kunsthaus geht? Prinzipiell gibt es zwei Aussagen: 1. Ja, ich gehe gerne ins Kunsthaus, hast du die Franz Gertsch Ausstellung schon gesehen? und 2. Also ich würde so gerne mehr ins Kunsthaus gehen, aber ich habe einfach keine Zeit und dann sind plötzlich die Ausstellungen schon rum!
Also, die, die Aussage 1 von sich geben, bei denen kann man nicht so schummeln, die scheinen wirklich sehr oft zu gehen. Bei Aussage 2 kann man relativ sicher davon ausgehen, dass das Wort «Kunsthaus» ersetzbar ist mit «Oper», «Theater», «Konzert» — halt alles was man irgendwie mehr machen will und dann eben doch nie dazukommt.
Jedenfalls, egal ob man sich gerne Kunst anschaut oder nur so tut als ob man es gerne täte, im Kunsthaus lässt man sich nicht nur gerne blicken, es ist sicher einen Besuch wert.
Auf jeden Fall kann das Kunsthaus mit renommierten Namen trumpfen. So konnte man sich erst letztens Picasso anschauen und erst vor ein paar Tagen ging die Beuys Ausstellung zu Ende.
Für diejenigen, die ihre Zimmerwände gerne mit verschiedenen Postkarten schmücken, hat es auch eine grosse Auswahl. Eigentlich findet man da alles, womit man als Kunstliebhaber gerne assoziert wird: Moleskine Notizbücher, Kunstplakate, Kunstbücher und kleine Radiergummis oder Kühlschrankmagnete mit aufgedruckten Rembrandts.

Halbe verregnete Tage habe ich schon im Kunsthaus verbracht. Zu meiner Zeit habe ich bis 16 Jahren kostenlos ins Kinsthaus gehen können. Ist das heute noch so?
Hier habe ich zum ersten Mal erlebt, dass Kunst wahrhaft berrühren kann.
Wie so etwas funktioniert habe ich bis heute nicht begriffen. Es war ein ganz simples Selbstportrait von Picasso. Aus seiner jungen zeit. Das Bild zeigt einen schönen jungen Mann mit wilden schwarzen Augen. Fott wie das schon klingt. Und da kuckt er mich an und ich bleibe stehen. Bleibe lange stehen. Ich schaue mir die Pinselführung genauer an.
Ich bin fasziniert. Was der gute Mann schon so früh konnte…
Desweiteren findet man dort die alten Meister, Impressionisten. Skulpturen und Bilder von Dali. Alles was eine gute Galerie halt so braucht. Was wirklich umhaut sind die guten Ausstellungen so fanden in den letzten Jahren eine Giacometti und eine van Gogh (Die Farben!!!) statt

Seit langen war ich wieder mal im Kunsthaus Zürich. Ach ist das schön einfach mal durch die grossen Räume des Kunsthauses zu schlendern. Nichts denken, einfach nur mal die Gemälde und Skulpturen angucken und staunen. Ich habe ja gar nicht gewusst, das dass Kunsthaus eine so grosse Sammlung hat. Am besten gefallen mir die alten Meister, wie zum Beispiel das Bild «Landschaft mit der Taufe Christi, um 1603 von Domenichino.
Ich vergesse völlig die Zeit und gebe mich der Kunst hin. Da tippt mir ein älterer Herr auf die Schulter und fängt an über das Kunsthaus Zürich und die Sammlung zu reden. Das finde ich äusserst interessant und höre ihm sicher fast eine ganze Stunde zu. Ich wusste zum Beispiel nicht, das dass Kunsthaus Zürich eine der angesehensten Sammlungen weltweit hat. Oder kennt ihr das Höllentor von Auguste Rodin an der Aussenwand des Hauses? Und das es eine grosse und sehr spannende Fotosammlung beherbergt?
Also nach soviel Kunst muss ich mir jetzt erstmal ein Kaffee genehmigen. Gerne hätte ich den älteren Herrn eingeladen, leider war er nicht mehr aufzufinden. Seltsam, trotzdem ein herzliches Dankeschön!

Besuche im Kunsthaus Zürich sind sehr erfreulich. Die Kuratoren befleissigen sich, eindrucksvolle und breit fundierte Ausstellungen zu zeigen. Vorausgesetzt das Thema liegt einem, kann man diese Ausstellungen in kürzeren Rundgängen geniessen oder sich für die beliebten Führungen anmelden.
Bei der letzten Führung zur Ausstellung Pablo Picasso erfuhren wir viel zum speziellen Charakter des Malers, den Hintergründen der ausgestellten Bilder und den Bräuchen sowie Sitten dieser Zeit. Beim Après Museum Essen hatten wir dann viel Stoff für Diskussionen und Meinungsaustausch.
Ich schätze die grosszügigen Räume des Kunsthauses, Sitzgelegenheiten zum Verweilen und Beobachten und die allgemein hohe Qualität der Exponate.

Das Kunsthaus strahlt für mich so eine saubere Ruhe aus. Alles ist weiss und strahlend. Ich gehe sehr gerne hin, einfach um mich zu entspannen.
Die Jahreskarte für Junioren kostet nur 30.-, wenn man sie mitten im Jahr kauft sogar nur 10.-. Das heisst es kommt meistens von Anfang an billiger, wenn man ein Jahresabo kauft.
Meine beste Freundin hat ein halbes Jahr lang im Kunsthaus als Aufpasserin gearbeitet. Da bin ich sie manchmal an Nachmittagen, wo nicht viel los war besuchen gegangen und wir sind zusammen durch die Gänge gezogen. Da kriegt man eine richtige Beziehung zu den Bildern. Wir schritten umher, wiesen eine ältere Dame bei Miro darauf hin, dass man nicht telefonieren darf und zählten bei den alten Meistern die Vierecke am Boden.

Vraiment un très beau musée! Né manquez surtout pas l’exposition de la collection Bührle jusqu’au mois de mai. Cela vaut vraiment le voyage! En plus, l’accueil (en français) est très sympathique (ce qui est assez rare à Zurich)… Bön, c’est un peu cher (18.- pour la seule exposition), mais bon, c’est Zurich!

I was a litlle bit disappointed about the museum. You can buy tickets for the hole museum. So i did that. Because this was the first time when i visited the Kunsthaus. Every tourist must have seen the art and culture. There are three exhibitions: the Egyptian works, old paintings and modern art. What i don’t like is that a big part of the museum has modern art exhibition. The Egyptian art i can only say that this is not the most beautifull pieces of the hole Egyptian art. You must have seen in Cairo and offcourse the ruïnes in Egypt. The most bautifull paintings from the most famous painters are in the Netherlands. You have a big collection there. For me (persionally) i find the museum has not the most beautifull paintings from the most famous painters.

The extensive permanent collection is comprised of many rooms of art from various centuries and countries/​regions. I was beyond thrilled to see new-​to-​me paintings from well-​known artists like Chagall and Van Gogh. And I am always up for eye-​balling a bit of Pop-​art, but can’t help thinking that I’ve seen it all before…
In addition to the art itself, I enjoyed walking to and from different areas within the Kunsthaus. There are some very lovely marble staircases, relief-​work, gold leafing and amazing murals by Ferdinand Hodler, an absolutely brilliant Swiss painter of the 19^th/​20^th centuries, in the original Kunsthaus to dazzle the eye. The newer extensions, grand and spacious, are filled with mostly modern art pieces and, interestingly, self-​referential art showing the creation of the new Kunsthaus wings as represented by both architectural models and large-​scale computer images alike.
Upon exiting the Kunsthaus, I spied one of Rodin’s ‘Gates of Hell’ scuptures on the museum façade. Approximately 20 feet from the Rodin stands a piece from Henry Moore, whom I’ll never tired of seeing. Being treated to these fab pieces of sculpture just before hopping on the bus en route home was a fitting end to my first Kunsthaus visit, and it will certainly be a nice re-​introduction upon my return!
